New and Strange Beneath the Sea!
The Horde Of Doom
25-03-2006, 03:22
Deep withen the oceans of the modern day world, a race of strange beings live far beneath the waves. For hundreds years they have been content residing in their huge basalt cities on the bottom of the sea. They have roamed the trenches of the earth, followed it's caves deep withen the earth, and have witnessed the beings we can only imagine frolic. But now, they wish to explore...what does this mean for the modern world?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
100 miles off the coast of the Falkland Islands, a beast nearly 85 feet tall lifted his mighty head out of the water. His huge eyes rested on a aircraft carrier. Treading water, he lifted his right hand up, revealing a huge spear constructed from the bone of a large shark. Rasing it, he rammed it directly into the ship, testing the metal's strength. Seeing that it had been pierced so easily, he stopped treading water, and simply sunk back below.
He could never have known the ruckus the nations would make about the crew that would die.
OOC: Heres a picture of what "it" looks like. (http://www.brycegunkel.com/images/new/murloc.jpg) Anyone who wants to claim the ship as their own, go ahead! How would your nation respond?
OOC: Is it just me, or is that familiar?
Also, what tech is this?

"Sir, it looks like...like a huge...well, hole was put in [AIRCRAFT CARRIER'S COUNTRY NAME]'s aircraft carrier, off the coast of the Falkland Islands."
"Hmm. Monitor it."
"Yes, sir."

The creature had now swam quite a distance, and reached the shelf of the Falkland Islands. Clutching it's spear it took in as much air as it could and took the first steps onto land.
He didn't really walk at first, but crawled. The weight was uncomfortable, and lights from settlements were too bright. The air, opressive and hot. He ground the end of his spear into the ground, struggling to pull himself up. It was a new moon, and as big as he was, he was still unnoticed. He took in as much as he could, and tried to take a step forward. Not used to the restrictions of gravity, it came down as a slam. Car alarms went off and little beings began to run about. I shall call them land shrimps, he thought to himself. So, with the ability to stay out of the water for about 10 minutes, we waltzed across the town, crushing cars and people as he went.

"ALL AVAIBLE HANDS! REPORT FOR REPAIR!" The captain of the TSUNAMIS-Class Supercarrier, the RTNS 'Valery' yelled, it had been on a routine transfer from one carrier battlegroup to a SuperDreadnought Group. He was still quite in shock, and very much in denial at what he had seen. The troops under the Navy rank of Lieutenant, however continued their work as if nothing had happened, that just added to the surrealism. He had watched the creature rise out of the water, stab the side of his carrier, and then dissappear before anyone could respond.
"Flash this to High Naval Command." He said to his communication officer, "Unknown beast attack ship, outerhall pierced, taking no water... please advise."
Twenty minutes later... Supreme Commanders Palace, Capitol City of Ariga, Red Tide
The emergency meeting had been assembled as quickly as possible. The Supreme Commander looked disgruntled but nodded to the defense minister to go ahead.
"At O-1100 hours, one of our carriers was on its way for transfer when, what the captain describes as a 'unknown beast' attacked it. Apparently from further inquries, we have learned that this 'beast' was very big, over 40 feet from what the captain could tell, and it had managed to pierce the first hull with its spear." A pause, "Thank god for three hulled ships."
The Supreme Commander had suddenly become acutely awake, he thundered, "FIND IT! AND CAPTURE IT! DEAD IF NESSECARY!"

OOC: Long live R'yleh!
IC: The beast found this new world strange, and even scary. The strange glowing object in the sky made him uneasy, for he believed it was the lure of a strange sky-fish. After convincing himself it would not attack, he continued exploring the islands.
The little land shrimps wouldn't stop making noises, and strange little horns kept blaring, angering him further. He would give anything for the silence of the waves right now, instead of this dry noisy world. He could take no more. In anger, he slammed his feet on the ground and let out a mighty roar. He began to seek out the land shrimps, crushing them as one would a red ant.

IC: The information was quickly gathered from a Argentinian news channel. It wasnt long before the Supreme Commanders orders were kicked down the chain of command as well as this info.
A sqaudron of H/K-1 VTOL Surface-Attack Aircraft armed with 2,000 pound laser guided bombs were launched from the 'Valery'. The Argentinian goverment had already been informed and told their SAM Operators*.
"Target spotted, weapons free." Said the lead pilot of the H/K-1, "Painting target." He said as he positioned his laser designator on the beast, they were hovering at 10,000 feet. The first H/K-1 went in, its pilot recieved the tone that the bombs had locked onto the laser beam, and he selected the left most bomb and pressed the release button. The bomb fell away from the pylon, fins guiding it towards the laser dot which was being held steady on the beast.
OOC:*For the sake of this RP, lets not argue about whether the Argentinian goverment would really allow this.

A horrible explosion hit the creature on his right arm. His arm was a mangled mess, but still their. It was simply to thick and to strong to be blown off outright, still...the wound was grave. Layers of skin had been burned off, and his nerves felt as if they were on fire. Anyone who ever had a lighted M80 firecracker thrown at them, and exploding on their upper arm would understand.
In pain he let out another roar, and let loose a stream of vomit. Squids used ink to distract their predators, and his kind used partially digested food for the same affair. The smell alone would literally knocked anyone out withen a half mile radius. But the liquid itself, and chunks of whale meat, crushed or suffocated anyone in it's way. With a ph level of about .7, it burned through concrete and flesh.
The beast threw his spear into the ground, and ran back towards the water. He began to swim, and dived one more into the briny depths. But he would be back....
OOC: The rp is not over, just rp whatever news reports(or coverups) might be going on...then the horde shall return...

The beast had returned to it's sunken city. It was lit with strange creatures, farmed for light. The beast itself, at this depth, became a glowing creature. It's body shined with red, blue, green, and yellow. Sensing it's injury, more of it's kind swam towards it, helping to carry it to the healer.
The healer sat cross legged at a primitive altar bowing and praying to a strange squid/fish god. The group exchanged a series of clicks, whines, and deep rumbles. The healer seemed calm as the injured one tried to explain what happeaned.
He described the "Dry World" as strange. He talked about the lights, the strange land-fish, the land shrimps, and the "land rays." The healer seemed puzzeled by the injury. Pieces of a sharp shell had been lodged in his skin, and burns like those from a thermal vent covered his arm. The healer picked out the pieces of shell and dressed his wound. The wounded creature swam off, to tell the others of his experiances.
The healer however stared at the pieces of shell. He placed them on a gold dish, and offered them to his god. After a few minutes of prayer he stole away to his private chambers. He retrieved a 2 stone tablets, older then the gods themselves. They told of an ancient city at the bottom of the world, that his kind once dwelled in. It told of how they were driven away...and what could be found there...
Lo! Death has reared himself a throne
In a strange city lying alone
Far down within the dim West,
Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best
Have gone to their eternal rest.
There shrines and palaces and towers
(Time-eaten towers that tremble not!)
Resemble nothing that is ours.
Around, by lifting winds forgot,
Resignedly beneath the sky
The melancholy waters he.
No rays from the holy heaven come down
On the long night-time of that town;
But light from out the lurid sea
Streams up the turrets silently-
Gleams up the pinnacles far and free-
Up domes- up spires- up kingly halls-
Up fanes- up Babylon-like walls-
Up shadowy long-forgotten bowers
Of sculptured ivy and stone flowers-
Up many and many a marvellous shrine
Whose wreathed friezes intertwine
The viol, the violet, and the vine.
Resignedly beneath the sky
The melancholy waters lie.
So blend the turrets and shadows there
That all seem pendulous in air,
While from a proud tower in the town
Death looks gigantically down.
There open fanes and gaping graves
Yawn level with the luminous waves;
But not the riches there that lie
In each idol's diamond eye-
Not the gaily-jewelled dead
Tempt the waters from their bed;
For no ripples curl, alas!
Along that wilderness of glass-
No swellings tell that winds may be
Upon some far-off happier sea-
No heavings hint that winds have been
On seas less hideously serene.
But lo, a stir is in the air!
The wave- there is a movement there!
As if the towers had thrust aside,
In slightly sinking, the dull tide-
As if their tops had feebly given
A void within the filmy Heaven.
The waves have now a redder glow-
The hours are breathing faint and low-
And when, amid no earthly moans,
Down, down that town shall settle hence,
Hell, rising from a thousand thrones,
Shall do it reverence.
Lo ! Death hath rear'd himself a throne
In a strange city, all alone,
Far down within the dim west —
And the good, and the bad, and the worst, and the best,
Have gone to their eternal rest.
There shrines, and palaces, and towers
Are — not like any thing of ours —
O ! no — O! no — ours never loom
To heaven with that ungodly gloom!
Time-eaten towers that tremble not!
Around, by lifting winds forgot,
Resignedly beneath the sky
The melancholy waters lie.
A heaven that God doth not contemn
With stars like a diadem —
We liken our ladies' eyes to them —
But there ! that everlasting pall!
It would be mockery to call
Such dreariness a heaven at all.
Yet tho' no holy rays come down
On the long night-time of that town,
Light from the lurid, deep sea
Streams up the turrets silently —
Up thrones — up long-forgotten bowers
Of sculptur'd ivy and stone flowers —
Up domes — up spires — up kingly halls —
Up fanes — up Babylon-like walls —
Up many a melancholy shrine
Whose entablatures intertwine
The mask the — the viol — and the vine.
There open temples — open graves
Are on a level with the waves —
But not the riches there that lie
In each idol's diamond eye.
Not the gaily-jewell'd dead
Tempt the waters from their bed:
For no ripples curl, alas!
Along that wilderness of glass —
No swellings hint that winds may be
Upon a far-off happier sea:
So blend the turrets and shadows there
That all seem pendulous in air,
While from the high towers of the town
Death looks gigantically down.
But lo! a stir is in the air!
The wave! there is a ripple there!
As if the towers had thrown aside,
In slightly sinking, the dull tide —
As if the turret-tops had given
A vacuum in the filmy heaven:
The waves have now a redder glow —
The very hours are breathing low —
And when, amid no earthly moans,
Down, down that town shall settle hence,
Hell rising from a thousand thrones
Shall do it reverence,
And Death to some more happy clime
Shall give his undivided time.

The Horde Of Doom
27-03-2006, 17:44
Now more of the creatures wished to explore. 4 more traveled with the injured one, to see the top for themselves. This time however, they wanted to examine one of these floating rocks. They stayed deep, watching the surface for movement. Finally they saw a ship(A Pythogria ship) and readied themselves for an attack. Each of the creatures carried a spear, made from the bones of the largest shark that dwells at the bottom of the ocean. They were skilled in the use of such weapons and prepared to strike.
One simply rose up, exposing half his head. He made small cooing noises, resembeling those of a whale. Two others still underwater quickly took advantage of the situation and rammed their spears with all their might into the ship. The one above the water lifted up his free hand, and began to pull the ship underwater....

"Agh! Abandon ship!"
The crew was on lifeboats in seconds. Boating away, they saw the attacker. another ship came on scene, and broadsided the attacker with it's thre cannons, and launched missiles at it. Nightmare fighters from the mainland launched countless PM-1 missiles at the things.
The Horde Of Doom
28-03-2006, 04:54
The noises scared the creatures, and they disappeared beneath the waves, pulling the ship down with them. The whirlpool killed many of the lifeboatees. At a safe depth they examined the ship, noticing how it began to crumple the deeper they brought it. Confused they swam back to the city, to see if the healer could understand it...
Many more creatures began to ready themselves for the trip upwards...

---Imperial Palace---
Khonsu Izakabad, the Pythogrian Supreme General, heard the news. "One of my ships got pulled down by a sea monster and half the crew is DEAD? Where do you get your intelligence? Supermarket tabloids?"
Pictures came on screen.
"Um... sorry."
He told his generals that any creature seen was to be filled with munitions, and that 200 subs would search for and destroy these things.
The Horde Of Doom
28-03-2006, 19:43
The Subs would never get down to the level of the city, but could hurt explorers. These strange "coral fish" as they were called were being seen as divine prizes, and anyone who could capture one would be rewarded.
So younglings began to venture into the less deep waters and grab the subs. True, some "unskilled" hunters would die, but the majority lived. They would fling their spears at a great distance(either stunning or piercing the sub) and then pulling it down where the pressure would do the rest. The creatures were now more interested in the throngs of new beasts then land, and none of their kind had walked upon the land in at least a week...
Pythogria
29-03-2006, 02:16

OOC: The Mariana Trench, the deepest trench in the world, is where their main city is. Also it was a vague post. Of course I don't kill all your subs, it was just to show that you would suffer more deaths then me. If this is still a problem, I will change it.
Pythogria
29-03-2006, 04:55
OOC: OK. It's perfectly acceptable.
IC:
One of the subs sighted a creature.
"This is Orion 4! Creature sughted! Designation Astaroth!"
"Thi8s is Command. You may fire at will."
"Yes sir. All subs, fire at will! Torps away!"
Seventeen torpedoes hit th creature in various spots. It was a mangled mess.
"Sir, this is Terra 7! We've came upon the Mariana Tremch!"
"This is Command. Do NOT go into that trench. Use bots to scout."
"Aye."
Sixteen mini-subs began scouting the trench for signs of these creatures, or perhaps even a civlization.
The Horde Of Doom

The city, as it was, was in shock. No creature dared enter it's domain, and yet these hostile ones did. Every inhabitant, young and old, grabbed a spear and swam towards the starnge fish. No questions were asked, for their intentions could be no good. As each spear was catapulted with more force then a missle, they race to get their hands on the little bugs. As small as they were, the spears were useless. But as man would a fly, they were easily crushed with bare hands.
All 1800 of the city's inhabitants were throughly angry, and ready for a fight.

"Yes... this must be it. Fire The Torpedo."
"The Torpedo?"
"Yes. That one."
"OK..."
The sub fired a single torpedo. It impacted the city and exploded...
Due to a nuclear reaction.
As the subs were a very great distance away, the explosion didn't affect them, other than being rocked a little.
The Horde Of Doom
29-03-2006, 21:24
All the earth is a grave and nothing escapes it, nothing is so perfect
that it does not descend to its tomb. Rivers, rivulets, fountains and
waters flow, but never return to their joyful beginnings; anxiously
they hasten on the vast realms of the rain god. As they widen their
banks, they also fashion the sad urn of their burial.
Filled are the bowels of the earth with pestilential dust once flesh and bone,
once animate bodies of man who sat upon thrones, decided cases, presided in
council, commanded armies, conquered provinces, possessed treasure, destroyed
temples, exulted in their pride, majesty, fortune, praise and power. Vanished
are these glories, just as the fearful smoke vanishes that belches forth from
the infernal fires of Popocatepetl. Nothing recalls them but the written page.
The city which had stood for eons, was now gone. Ruins took it's place, with bodies appearing sporiodically. The once proud race was now nothing. Perhaps 10, perhaps less, escaped...but this was nothing. Their art, their literature, their history was gone. Ruins was all that was left....
(Who knows...maybe one day we'll see those 10 again....;) )

"He... launched a nuke at the settlement of these things, without your permission."
"[censored]! I WANT THAT MAN SHOT! RIGHT [censored] NOW!"
"Yes sir..."
Khonsu put down the phone.
One of his captains ad just committed an atrocity. The destruction of a whole race. With a nuclear warhead.
He must pay.
---Mariana Trench---
The sub heard this transmission:
"FOR THE COMMITING OF AN ATROCITY AGAINST A WHOLE SENTIENT SPIECIES, YOU? ARE TO BE KILLED. PREPARE TO BE DESTROYED."
One thought crossed the captain's mind: Oh shit.
He would never think anything else.

The creatures swam quickly away from their city, making their way to Antartica. The city was now something to be feared, strange burning sensations stinging their skin if they got to close to it.
They "ran," if one can use the word, along the ocean bottom. They kept looking up, now fearing the surface. They had payed the price for exploration, and the remaining survivors were now even more isolationist.
They had literally developed a phobia for the surface world.

The Horde Of Doom
30-03-2006, 00:47

OOC: What about sign language?
The Horde Of Doom
30-03-2006, 00:57
OOC: But they don't even know of sign language. These creatures communicate in a language that cannot be repeated by human vocal chords and write in heiroglyphics. Perhaps if any remains of texts were found in the city, you could try to decipher them.
However...there is one group who knows their language. Seek out the Horde and perhaps they can initiate communication...
