Northford Announces...

Hi, I'm Northford, been playing this game for about a week and I've finally decided to register on the forums (after getting some help due to computer problems).

Kinda "N00bish" doing this intoduction thread, I guess, but this seems a busy forum so I thought it would be better to "announce" my presence, rather than just sneak in and have people label me as some know-nothing idiot.

I'm 17 and from the UK (London, England) and presently in 6th Form. I'm quite new to the whole Role-Playing Genre, normally sticking to Real Time Stratagys, and FPS. I've read quite a few of the stickies up the top, but would appreciate any help if I screw up along the way (Godmodding, for instance).

Regards,

Northford

IC:

24th March, Northford Calender Year: 1015

The Commonwealth of Northford formally ends its self-enforced isolation today, and opens itself up to the rest of the world for trade and diplomacy, and general fun.

To that end, The Commonwealth is opening an embassy exchange program, alliance exchanges, and of course the sale of arms. Northford currently has a (very) small arms budget due to monetary constraints, but is nevertheless eager to upgrade its archic (Circa 1930's) home grown defence industries to modern standards.

It wishes to be on friendly terms with all nations, but reconsises in a global world, a competitive economy often leads to conflict. [OOC: From the looks of it, RP'ing is nearly always war based[/OOC]

IC:We welcome you to the world. We ask what government type are you.

The Commonwealth of Northford is a Democracy. Its type of government depends upon the electorate (the issues). It is presently considers itself "Democratic Socialists", however that is of course dependant on what the electorate asks for. The people of Northford are compassionate, support free trade in general, along with the principles of free speach [OOC: I think some of my early civil rights issues swung me to the left wing slightly [/ooc]

Thank you for your humble welcoming Brydog. Might we enquire a little about your nation?

The Commonwealth of Northford reciplicates the greetings and salutations. IT wishes to extend the hand of friendship, and happiliy accepts that smaller, growing (arn't all nations "growing"?) are often disadvantaged in the international theater.

In reference to the "Weaponry" issue, we understand that as small nation we are unable to afford much. That said, Northford doctrine requires we go for the "Quality over Quantity" approach. Therefore, any trades will have to be on a rather small scale. Do you have a storefront? (OOC: I've read many of these while registering... The stats are a little daunting, but hey, I guess I'll get used to it).

... seeing as you offered help, I guess I'll take it hehe.... as for RP'ing, I get the whole god-modding thing, and don't want to get drawn into an "I'm bigger than you war".. that said, are there any RP's you can reccoment I join? Also, I've seen a lot of so called Alliance's in peoples sig's. How'd you get into them? I'm not asking to join as such, but more for an idea how these things generally help. I've read quite a few of Euro-Slavia's stickies.. is the infomation in them? So far I've stuck to the more game related links... Thanks.

Thank you for the generous Gift of the fighting vehicles. We will add them to our small inventory. As for Trade relations, we will happily allow Franberry industry into our country, of course, with exemptions from normal domestic taxes.

On the issue of embassies, we warmly invite you to our country. Send us the specifications of what you requite, and we will happily construct them for you, free of charge. In the same vein, we will happily take up your offer of establishing an embassy. Are there any regulations you have? Northford has generally lax planning laws, and usually extensive rights for foriegn nationals, but is there anything the Government of Northford aught to know about Franberry's law?

To send an embassy there are few rules, we are not as demanding as some other nations.

Max. 75 guards (no heavy explosives)
Vehicles are allowed, but they must carry no weapons.
Your embassy allows itself to be searched in times of crisis
External security shall be left to the Franberrian Diplomatic Protection Corps.
Send us the design for your embassy, and we shall build it.
Crime is almost non-exsistent in Franberry, you can rest assured that your embassy is safe.

I am Matriarch Zelella, elected leader of the Constitutional Matriarchy of Reloria. On behalf of our people and our government I would like to give you a warm welcome to the international community. If you wish to further diplomatic relations with Reloria, we would be most pleased to initiate an embassy exchange between our two nations. We have certain regulations regarding such things as firearms, but we are willing to negotiate and conform to any of your own requirements.

Once again, welcome to the international community. Blessings of the Goddess to you, and good fortune for you and your great nation.

Northford welcomes your offer, but is reluctant to get drawn into pre-emptive alliances, as it enjoys the freedom of national soverigntity, and is wary of becoming another, more powerful satalite states.

In reference to the gift of the weapons, we are a small nation, in terms of people, and doubt we could even afford the maintance of such things. Our financial department (OOC: found thirdgeek, from link in another thread... very cool thing Thirdgeek) estimates our present military budget is 7 Billion.

Despite all this, Northford is nevertheless eager to open diplomatic channels. Would Pythogria be prepared to host a Northford delegation?

In the meantime, we are eager to learn more about a possible future partner in the world. Can you tell the Government of Northford anything about your country? Its politics, its stance on key issues (Nukes, Free Trade, ect ,ect)?

Dearest Zelella [?],

The Government of Northford also sends it warmest greetings. We are, as aforementioned, a small, relatively peaceful country that is eager to get itself reconised on the world stage.

The Government of Northford is eager to establish diplomatic relations in as many countries as possible. To that extent it accepts your offer of an embassy exchange. Futhermore, it requests you entertain a Northfordian delegation, as we are eager to open our (previously isolated) country to the world, to trade, prosper and expand.

In reference to the particulars of an embassy exchange, we are liberal, and open to any requirements you have. As mentioned to our opposite number in Franberry, we will happily constuct the embassy for you.

Humblest Regards,

Samual Burns

Pythogria is very much prepared to host a Nothford delegation, and would also like to exchange embassies. And yes, you can afford maitenence. We have designed them so that they don't really require much.

As for our government, it is very unique. It staarts as a democratic election and those elected are in power (like a dictator). However, they have limits and can't change 3/4 of the laws.

Our stance on various issues:

Nuclear Weaponry: at MOST keep 500 warheads. We have 50.

Free Trade: Go right ahead.

Abortion: Only in rape cases or if the mother's life is at risk, or if the fetus is dead. (We used to allow it if the baby would have had a serious disorder, but we have a genetic screening division now.)

Gay Mairrage: Allow it, but call it a union or something else. It's different than mairrage.

Drugs: Ban them all.

Guns: Rental only for shooting ranges and such. Nobody needs to keep an AR-15.

And there you have it.

OOC: Yes, I'd like to.

Also, your'e getting the following:

Rifle

Name: ZA-1 Assualt Rifle

Maanufacturer: ZefTec

Cost: $900 e-Credits

Construction: Stamped steel, with some plastic parts (such as sides of handle)

Length (Weapon): 39 inches

Length (Barrel): 19.88 inches

Weight of weapon (Loaded): 7 lbs

Weight of weapon (Unloaded): 6.5 lbs

Cartridge used: 5.56 x 45 mm

Sights: Universal Mounting Rail, takes most scopes, comes with a normal one.

MBT

The XM-1 MBT was the first Pythogrian main battle tank. Having great armor, OK speed, and immense firepower, it is the greatest tank ever built by ZefTec, or even Pythogria.

Armaments---

The main gun of the XM-1 is the Bolter 120mm ETC with a smoothbore barrel. It is extremely powerful, but logistics can be a problem. (Pythogria has ways to ounteract this, however.) It also uses an autoloader, but the operators may load it manually. The secondary armament of the XM-1 is its coaxial .50 caliber machine gun. Truly frightening. It also has two machine guns on the roof. For incredibly long-range contests, the XM-1 also sports two AM-1 missile launchers. These can be reloaded from inside the tank.

Armor---

The high-tech armor of the XM-1 is created out of ceramics coated in amorphous
metal. It is sloped 80 degrees at the glaxis, and 70 on the front and sides of the turret.. It is coated with RAM.

Engine---

The XM-1 is propelled by a TE-1 Biodeisel Engine of ZefTec construction. This gives the XM-1 a range of 300 miles and a top speed of 50 miles per hour.

The Interior---

The XM-1 is fitted with seats for all of the crew (driver, main gunner/loader, secondary gunners, commander), an ammunition storage area, and a VIOLA class supercomputer used for targeting and other things.

Electronics---

The XM-1 uses the VIOLA supercomputer for targeting, driving long distances, and emergency intervention (for example, stopping before going off a cliff.) For sensors, the XM-1 contains a RADAR system, and uses laser rangefinders and a lighting system all around it (which can be deactivated.) It uses hydropneumatic active suspension.

Statistics---

Name: XM-1 "Lightning Python"

Manufacturer: ZefTec

Wieght: 78 tons

Hieght: 9 feet

Length: 32 feet

Top Speed: 50 MPH

Armaments: 120mm smoothbore ETC cannon, 2 AS-1 SAM launchers, 2 AM-1 missile launchers, one coaxial .50 cannon, 2 machine guns

Armor: Ceramic encased in amorphous metal

Engine: TE-1 Biodeisel engine

Range: 300 miles

Crew: 6

APC

Name: XC-1 APC "Special Delivery"

Manufacturer: ZefTec

Armor:

The armor used on the XC-1 is of the Kyon-1 amorphous metal type, standard armor on all Pythogrian land vehicles. It consists of titanium woven through amorphous steel, over ceramics. It is sloped at a 20-degree angle on all sides (Other than the back-- that's sloped at a 15-degree angle.)

Armaments:

The XC-1 is an APC, so it has to defend itself. It uses a .50 caliber machine gun. The soldiers inside can also use special firing ports.

Engine:

The XC-1 uses the TE-1 Biodiesel Engine, like most other Pythogrian land vehicles.

Electronics:

The XC-1 uses the VIOLA class supercomputer for targeting (for the machine gun, and it can send data to the ZS-1 battlesuit. The XM-1 computer can also do this), radar, and emergency intervention.

Crew:

The XC-1 carries 2 crew members, plus the possibility of 10 soldiers.

[OOC This thread is still open, feel free to say Hi[/OOC].

Samuel Burns stood on the bridge of the Rose. The sun was shining, and the sea was reflecting the light across the deck. It WAS a beautiful day.

"Captain, what news do you have for me, on this fine sunny morning?"

Captain Oak eyed his 'cargo'. Upon first appearances, he was a typical politician. He wore a smart suit, had a tidy hair cut, and spoke with a dignified (ooc: English~~I live in london, so it kinda makes sense for me /ooc) accent. Despite this however, every part of him amazed the captain.

It was his first mission outside territorial waters, after all, other than rescueing standed fishermen, there was not much else for the Northford Navy to do. "Joy's of Isolation", his men often remarked. He was chosen as his ship was regarded as the most oceangoing of all the Navies vessals... all 8 of them. Carrying Mr Burns was to be quite the adventure.

"Not much to remark upon, Sir. We had an easy night, nothing to report. Mind you, Sir, you did get an encoded message from the Pythogria government. They're ready for us. Oh, and there was something to do with a nuke"

Samuel Burns eyes lit up. Nuclear Technology was not unheard of in Northford, they even used it to fuel some rural power stations, but, officially, nukes were a big "No-No".

"Nukes?" He asked as he walked slowly towards the "Meeting Room", a newly outfitted bunk room outfitted for this very journey.

"Yes" ,replied Oaks, "Terrorists set one off on an Island which is under their juristiction. I've got the coordinates here somewhere.....I.. erm.." ,He broke off, looking over some loose paperwork, "Oh, here it is. Gria Island. You probably don't care much for grid references and all that, so I'll abstain from the details. Want me to avoid it?"

"Yes, we're not armoured, and don't have decontamination facilities. If we get caught up in that stuff, we'll need assistance from our newly found friends, something which I really don't want to do. I know, I'll write a personal message." With that, Samuel Burns, the recently elected Foreign Minister, walked off.

=============================

To whom it may concern in Pythogria:

This is Samuel Burns, of Northford. We are approximately 8 hours from your capital. We have recieved your warning concerning the recently terrorist attack. We are happy to avoid it. Is there anything else we should know.

This is our first diplomatic summit of recent times, and are eager for it to proceed without a hitch. Furthermore we are somewhat apprehensive. Any advice would be appreciated

Regards.

The terrorist atttack is the only problem we know of. A small fleet will come to escort your delegates soon.

Also, note that though we have nuclear weapons (49 warheads), that we will not use them without provocation.

Captain Oak tapped on Samuel Burn's private quarters.

"Busy Sir", he asked, almost sensing the intense concentration of the diplomat, "Telegrams just come through"

The Diplomat pushed the glasses back up his nose, "O, interesting, I was just browsing over some itenery they sent us. Looks like these chaps are quite a force to be reconed with""

"This may interest you then", the captain said, as he handed the Telegram to the Diplomat

His eyes scanned over the document quickly. "Small Fleet, eh?"

"Small? By whose standards?" The Captain was curious now, he'd often read of great sea battles, and wanted to know what the real world called Small. To him, small was a dingy with an outboard motor. To him, large was a Corvette or a Small Frigate. As much as he didn't like war, he was curious.

"I guess we're about to find out" Said the Samuel, with a slight smile forming

To the Government of Northford -

Two battleships, a superdreadnought, six cruisers, and eight subs came to escort the delegation.

OOC: This is Pythogria's puppet.

Three hours had passed since Captain Oak had recieved word of an "Escort". He was aprehensive, after-all passing fisherment whom he exchanged words with told him he was regarded as a "Corvette Captain". Apparently, in the real world, Corvettes were nothing more than convoy escorts, designed to go with merchants in time of war.

His ship, The Rose had little in the way of weaponry. It had a small, 3" cannon, and it had harpoons for any whales it passed. The weaponry was northing special, it was only there for show, and as a fun way of breaking up passing ice flows.

"Escort Fleet", he chuckled. He left his chair and decided to go to the bridge. It was a short stroll, but one which he felt he must take, if only to *look* like a real captain.

When he arrived, he met the Diplomat leaning towards a shutter.

"Nice day, isn't it Sir" He remarked, gazing over the rich blue water

"Fantastic, a perfect day, for a near perfect moment" The Diplomat muttered. He was not a philisophical man, but at times like this he put on his thinking hat, "I wonder what it'll be like", he continued, "...the conference I mean. In the best case, we could have our first ally, a partnership for arms, and an actual window to the real world."

Oaks smiled "Arms......"

"Yes. You and I both know, that ever since the government decided to end the policy of isolation, it had been increasing money for the military. The only problem is, there hasn't been much to buy or do. We've got a budget of around 20 Billion per year, however for the last 2 years we've hardly touched on it. 'Sustainability' ", Burns gestured," is the key word inside the ministry of defence. We want to be able to hold our own in this world."

Oaks was interested now. He was not a selfish man, and he did'nt want to see his country turn into a super-power, but was never-the-less eager to see it defend itself. Far more important in his eyes, was free trade.

"Sir," he started, "We are here for othing things, right, we're not just here to buy weapons?"

The Middle Aged Samuel Burns started laughing. "Lord, no, I just thought it would interest you, what with you being in the military"

"Oh, fair enough"

With that, appeared several blinks on a nearby consol.

"Oak, you've got something blinking" said Burns, pointing to the nearby screen.

"Have I?", he replied, moving over to it, "Good Lord, you're right. About 5, no 6, no, 9 blinks. And they look huge. I've seen Islands smaller than that. Crank the engines up. I want to see these things".

Slowly in the distance, a number of large objects appeared, crossing the horizon like whales in a fishpond. They seem to get ever bigger, for what appeared to be an enternity, until they finally stopped, enveloping The Rose in a large Circle that seemed to be a mile wide. They shut down their engines, and men, smartly dressed seemed to appear from everywhere.

Then, suddenly it began, A Thousand Men, on all the ships started playing the Northford National Anthem in a cheery chorus. A small Launch was being lowered into the water.

"Sir, look over there, they're sending someone over here" Captain Oaks was in awe. He had never seen this. In the back of his mind he was shocked, as this was only a "small" fleet.

"Guess this is my turn then. Oaks, thanks for everything, and wish me luck." With that, the Diplomat left the bridge, and proceeded to walk down to the deck, where a ladder was being lowered into the boat.

Out of it appeared a man, superbly dressed, offering his hand to Samuel Burns. His crisp voice spoke:

"Mr Burns, I presume? I've heard so much about you...."

"Oh, our ships? We bought them from various people and we made a fleet. There are fleets ten times more powerful than ours. "Indeed", replied Admiral Lok'Ton, following the Minister below Deck, weaving in and out of the small corridors.

"We're here. Sorry about the cramped conditions, but we had to modify this thing to serve as a de-facto dining room, in the event we had to hold official events here, I'll introduce you to some of our Chef's, and then I'll summon the Captain."

Samuel Strode over the Chef Stevens. He was a portly fellow, around 40, with a rather large stomach.

" 'fter noon Sir, how can I help you" asked the large man, shaking hands.

Samuel replied openly to the three of them, "Mr Stevens, this is Admiral Lok'Ton, of the Pythogorian Fleet. Could you show him our foods and drink, and accomodate him where nessasary?"

Chef Stevens was an easy-going man. He enjoyed three things in life: Good Food, Good Drink, and Good Women [OOC: Make that good family, if you like... I'm not sure what the censorship is like here, and was always eager to please.

"Of Course Mr Burns. Admiral; Follow me"

Samuel tactfully eased himself out of the conversation.

"Midshipman Cleary, could get me the line for the Bridge, please?" He asked to a nearby Sailor, who was just getting up.

"Right away", the scruffy man replied, walking over the internal Phone, "Bridge, This is the Mess Hall, we need the Captain....... Sir, here he is", said Midshipman Cleary, passing the phone to Samuel, who was now a few feet away.

Samuel took the phone, "Oaks, come down here, you'll like this. Admiral Lok'Ton is his name. He seems an amiable fellow, and very intelligent. When you've got a moment come down an introduce yourself. I know it would seem you're both equals, as you're both representing each other's navies... but Salute just for the sake of it. I want to make a good Impression", Samuel finished, the excitement of the whole situation clearly overwhelming him.

Official Government Statement
Constitutional Matriarchy of Reloria
"For a brighter tomorrow."

Dearest Samual Burns,

We are pleased that you wish to exchange embassies. Our own requirements are quite small, merely a staff of twenty civilians and ten guards. We would be honoured for you to build our embassy on our behalf, provided it has at least sufficient space for living quarters, recreational areas, offices, conference room, a barracks, and a small space for a shrine. We ordinarily make use of local construction firms when establishing an embassy anyway, and as such this is fine for us. As for your own embassy, our embassy district has several pre-built facilities for you to choose from, or you can provide specifications and we shall construct you one.

As for hosting a Northfordian delegation, you are asking at a most fortunate time. We are presently hosting an event which several national leaders are attending (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=470141), and you are welcome to send your own representatives directly to the palace. It would be a good opportunity to make some connections, as it were.

The Government of Northford happily accepts your offer to exchange embassies. We will commence building one to your specifications, and will message you when it is completed.

As for your delegation you are humbly hosting, we are presently tied up diplomatically with Pythogria at the moment. I will personally try to make every effort to be there in person, although, the government may decide to send one of our junior ministers, rather than have me rush my present engagement.

"So, what kind of country are you? What's your government?"

Captain Oaks let out a hearty chuckle over the steak.

"Well Admiral, I depends whichever one keeps us on good terms with you." Said the Captain, smiling.

"Haha, good one captain. But seriously, I must enquire."

Samuel Oaks cleared his throat.

"We're a democracy, you?" (OOC: You are, right?)

"The same, but I was kind of hoping for a little depth" asked the Admiral.

Samuel could see this was when he'd have to the "Diplomat" bit. He sat up in his seat, as he reconed he would be speaking for a while, and good posture always helped.

"Well, things are fairly complex, in a simple kind of way, you see. We have elections once every 4-5, have two houses and one minor assembally. Out of the two houses, one houses our Delegates, which are elected directly by the electorate. There are no "party's" as such. People are nominated and directly voted for. The other house is elected for 10 year terms. These people can not propose laws, instead can fufil higher civil service positions. They also form the advisory core for the Head Of Commonwealth (HOC). The Head in regarded as by some as a "King", having more powers than a president, as well as having some "Inheritance" value. Meaning the HOC appoints a group of people, one of which will be voted in as his sucsessor"

"Voted by who?" Replied the Admiral, who was obviously interested

"The Two Houses. If either house deems all the selected people unsuitable, they can request a "Confidence Ballot", which requires the other to vote of the suitability of all the candidates. If they agree, then all the candidates are disregarded. If they disagree, thet revote regardless, with changes" Samuel Finished, looking to see whether the admiral understood.

"Complex"..

"Yes, very, but when you get used to it, it's very simple".

"If you don't mind me asking; how's things run in your country?.... or do you want to finish that steak?"

Lok'Ton followed Chef Stevens. He came across the ship's dining hall, and sighted a pretty good meal. Steak with mashed potato and steamed broccoli. Mmm... my favorite real life meal... "Ah! Nice dining hall you have here!" The Admiral told the chef. "Good food too!"

The Northfordian delegates also came into the room, and they all began to have a meal. The Admiral asked, "So, what kind of country are you? What's your government?"

OOC: Sorry, I'm kinda busy in real life too... anyway:

The Admiral quickly finished his steak and swallowed. "We are sort of a democracy, and sort of a dictatorship. We elect a Supreme General every four years, and he or she has power within a constitution, and can't change three quarters of the law. The other quarter has to be voted on. He or she can also be impeached and overridden by democratic vote."

The Admiral cleared his throat. "But I must ask. What type of economy do you use? We are capitalist."

"Economics?", the Captain asked, "We want, so we buy"

Samuel replied in a more dignified manner.

"We were previously isolationists, so we're kinda hard to place. Internally, we were, and still are, capitalists. Externally, and Higher up, it tends to vary. We're democrats, and pretty much every system has been given a chance. We even spent a decade trying out communism. These days though, we're trying to stay free market"

"How much longer do you think it will be till we arrive at the delegation?" asked the Captain, who was looking at his empty plate and wondering if he had time for dessert.

"Ria... Lovely name", replid the Diplomat, "Why don't we go out onto the deck, and watch The Rose enter Port"?

"Certainly."

The Admiral followed the delegation onto the deck. There, they sighted Ria.

It was beautiful. Rounded silver skyscrapers towered over, with the tropical sun reflecting off their polished sides. Even though it was a city, the air was as clean as could be. Trees and plants were everywhere. Airplanes fly overhead, and birds, some with 12 foot wide wingspans, fly around the ships. Police officers are seen, on daily patrols. The whole crew smells the amazing cooking from Restaurant Street, and the Pythogrian flag is seen flying from the tallest tower. Oddly enough, there are no roads, but bullet trains and conveyor belts are everywhere. Footpaths permeate the more rural areas.

"Well? How do you like it?" the Admiral asked.

The Diplomat, The Captain, and 3/4 of the crew stood in awe upon the sight before them.

The Northfordian Capital was modern, but it was not anything like that, it was mostly Historical Buildings, with modern things built around them, reflecting the Antiquity of the country. There were airports, and the air was clean, but Ria was something else. Whereas Northford's city's were timeless classics that were modern where you looked, Ria was the opposite. It was Modern, completely.

"Thats a fine Capital Admiral, after the delegation I wouldn't mind having a look around this place" remarked the Diplomat.

The Captain was looking around the port.

"This Port is HUGE. What do you do with all the space?"

The Rose Entered a Bay.

Samuel forsaw a problem.

"Um, Admiral, how are we getting to this summit?"

"Um, Admiral, how are we getting to this summit?"

"Oh, this isn't the capital. This place is small. As for entering, let me radio the port..." He pulled out a radio and pressed a button. "Port, this is Admiral Lok'Ton. We've got a fleet plus the Northfordian delehgation here."

The port responded. "Confirmed. Prepare for docking."

As the ships were a very slight distance from the shore, the docking sequence occured immediately. Walls rose fro mthe bottom of the port, surrounding all the ships in individual boxes, with walls going a foot over the water. Then the water in all of the boxes began to drain away. The Northford delegation stood in awe as the ship went lower and lower until it rested on some pillars.

The docking was complete. Escalators deployed to allow them to get to the city.

"There we are. Now, as for all this space, you wouldn't believe how many ships come through here. This is a slow day." He looked at a convoy of cargo ships in the distance. "Anyway, follow me and you'll find your escort."

BUMP!

Dude, I live in england lol... I was sleeping. I posted the last part at about 8pm our time.

Anyway

IC:

Samuel, The Captain, of course the Chef, followed the Admiral.

"This is too small to be your capital? This place is about the same size as ours. So, Admiral, where we going?" The Diplomat asked, eager to actually *get* to the delegation.

"Of course", The Admiral replied

OOC: I'm a little lost here..> I can't do much, as its *you're* capital lol. Shall we just push it forward to the actual summit/meeting?
Pythogria

OOC: The summit will be really soon. Oh, and I live in Canada.

IC:

"Yes, this place is mid-size. At any rate, there's our escort."

Eight men with body armor on met the delegation.

"Anyway, lets go. Follow me."

The Admiral stepped onto a conveyor belt and started to move away on it. The delegation followed.

"So, at any rate, we just need to get to the terminal, so we can get onto that bullet train..." he pointed to a tube in the distance, "and then get to the tall building over there."

They reached the station, and got onto the train, in a special compartment reserved for them.

OOC: I'll allow you to RP the bullet train ride. It floats in the air due to magnets and is propeled by magnets too. So it's a very smooth ride and very fast. Oh, and it will most likely go through a jungle on the way.
Northford

They entered the special compartment, which had obviously been prepared specially, it was covered in the finest pythogorian material, had a sample of foods from many countries, and had (quite noticably) thicker windows.

The train started to move off, quickly and quietly.

"Wow," remarked the captain,"Pretty quiet for a train"

The Admiral smiled slightly, "Yes, these trains are the pride of Pythogoria, they work of the maglev principle, and make for very nice trains indeed"

Samuel mused the track "We use WIG (Wing in Ground Effect) Trains in Northford, they're as efficent, and use Air pressure to achieve speed. They are ugly buggers, and mostly work underground. Perhaps when I return, I'll reccomend we impliment these"

They proceeded to travel through the landscape of Pythogoria, it was mostly termperate, althougth there were small stretches of jungle. The whole time their body guards sat there, looking for threats, the apitome of professionalism.

Soon, they reached the summit house.

"We're here", said the Admiral

The Oak and Samuel exchanged nervous looks.

"This is your bit, Sir, do Northford proud" Oak wispered to Samuel quietly as they got of the Train...

For some reason, Sameul, amoung all these large, imposing buildings, did not feel very proud

OOC: G'Tor is "good bye" in Pythogria.

"Well, here is where I leave. The summit is just in that building." He saluted the delegation. "Now I need to return to my ship. G'Tor!"

He stepped onto the conveyor belt and began to go further away.

The delegation entered the building, to be met with Pythogria's leader, the Supreme General Khonsu Izakabad.

"Ah!" the 30-year old man said. "So, I assume you found the trip satisfactory? At any rate, the confrence room is this way."

He walked down the hallway, and opened a door, the delegation following. Everyone sat down in the confrence room, and Khonsu awaited the delegations offers.
Northford

The Delegates entered the room, which was dressed in pythogorian uphostry.

"Good Day General Khonsu Izakabad. I am Samuel Burns, representing The Commonwealth of Northford's Government. To my left is Captain Oak, of The Rose. He will be representing Northford's Armed Forces"

The Captain looked uneasy.

"Am I?" He asked quietly, considering he previously knew nothing about it.

Samuel was thinking on his feet, "You are now. If their leader is a "General", then I guess this place is a little more militarised that I first thought. I could do with the help. Besides," he continued, "It'll look good on you're CV".

He decided to start his somewhat rehersed speach.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am here to discuss with you the emergance of Northford on the world stage. For too long, it has been an isolationsit country, inward looking, with only its own culture and people for company.

This year, however, with a change of government, we have decided to end that. We have opened our markets, opened our people, our port (s), and our land to foreigners. We want *in* to the Free Market. Our nation has grown to the the size where it can no longer provide for itself. Yes, we can grow food, find water, but we no longer can provide ourselves with jobs. Our economy will eventually stagnate. We do not want this.

We want friends, allies and trading partners. That is what we are here for today" Finished Samuel taking a sip of water.
Pythogria
04-04-2006, 22:56
OOC: My nation prides itself on it's military, but it focuses elsewhere too.

IC:

"Should you require a trading partner, we will oblige." The Supreme General told the delegation. "We offer ethanol, steel, aluminum, silicon, and bauxite, in exchange for tea, hemp, and titanium. We may also forgew an alliance. Do these terms sound good? We could provide military technology and perhaps assistance as well, should you require it."
Northford
05-04-2006, 19:26
OOC: Ah.. I did wonder about the military. Northford has a compusory Military service program (check my country in-game), but that is mostly to do with civil defence, flood protection, foresty maintance, ect ect... that is changing though.

Samuel smiled, finally he was getting somewhere. He'd spent 13 days getting here and only now was he achieving his goals.

"Well, we need ethanol. Some of our public transport runs on it. As for the other two, well, we have plenty of silicon and sufficent bauxite for now... If you want Tea, we grow some high quality stuff in greenhouses, but thats more for the luxury market. We have Titanium... lots (Mineral Deposits are not really a problem http://img152.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled5go.jpg The yellow bit in my map is desert, which has loads of ore), and lots of it. Other than a few small commercial airlines, we don't really have much of a use for it. Nearly all our transport is via WIG trains underground and such, and that's just made out of bog-standard steel. If you want some, you're welcome to it"

The Captain decided it was time for him to to speak up.

"General, I like you're offer about the military. We are a small country, with long term traditions of military service. Until now, however, these were mostly associated with civil defence. As we are opening are markets up to the rest of the world, however we reconise we need to expand. If you are offering an alliance, we would be more than willing to take it. We need friends in this world, and, until we are big enough to stand on our own feet, we'll take anyone we can."
Pythogria
05-04-2006, 23:01
The Supreme General laughed. "Well, it's settled then. We'll construct an ethanol pipline and start pumping, in exchange for some tea and titanium. As for that alliance, well, it's forged then." He looked at the captain. "As for militry technology, we'll sell you the schematics and the rights to build them, as well as 1,000 units of each for... how does 750 Billion USD sound? We have a rifle, Anti-tank weapon, reconnoisance vehicle, MBT, HBT, Carryall, cruiser, APC, fighter which can turn into a fighter-bomber, as well as soon an all-purpose sub, to sell. Sound good? We're willing to sell for only 500 Billion, you being our ally and all." Yes, yet another ally... he thought. I may yet make a Federation out of this!

He cleared his throat. "Well, any objections? Additions?"
Pythogria

Bump.
Northford
07-04-2006, 11:51
OOC: Sorry bout that, I didn't get much of a chance to get on a computer yesterday.... also, I said in my previous post, it took him 13 days to get there. Shall we agree we are 13 days apart for future role playing as well? It would make sense

IC:

Samuel was both happy and perplexed at the same time, the offer for trade was far more than he hoped for. Northford's public transport used ethanol extensively for fuel, its WIG ground trains, for example, were purely powered by it. It's buses and taxis also used it, albeit in a hybrid system. Also, considering their rather rich supply of ore, they were getting a great deal. Samuel knew how much titanium was usedin the aerospace industry, and was more than happy to provide his new allies with a cheap supply.

The issue of defence was a little more worrying... Samuel was not really at liberty to make arm's trades, as a) he did not know an awful lot about it, and b) he was not given permission to go so far. He decided he brought the captain along for a reason, so decided to let him decide.

"The Idea of the Ethanol sounds fantastic, General, we desperately need it, and we are more than happy to provide you with a cheap supply of titanium in return. As for the tea, I'll get our growers to provide you with samples of their variaties as soon as I return, then let you decide which you prefer. As they are luxury goods, I'd say it would be foolhardy to agree to numbers now, but I assure you, we will send our tea growers along. As for the issue of an alliance, it is indeed sealed. If you need any help with anything down our end, don't be afraid to ask. We may be the junior partner now, but all things grow, and we are more than happy to help you how we can. I'll let the captain discuss the Arm's deals"

The Captain looked uneasy. He did not really know the quality of the Pythogrian goods, nor did he know if Northford could afford 500 Billion. Furthermore, when he left port, he was fully aware the ministry of defence was ordering arm's from other companies, and was not sure that the state had need for them.

He couldn't exactly say no, however, as even he knew 500 Billion for all those schematics was a bargain price.

"Thanks for the offer General", he started," 500 Billion is a rock bottom price for such goods. That said, however, I have a number of concerns. Northford can probably not afford such a deal. At present, we only have a defenec budget of 100 Billion, and therefore would be several years worth of procurement. Furthermore, we have already purchased arm's from other countries, and I'm not sure the government would be too happy if we made further purchases. How about we stick with the trade and the military alliance for now and discuss the issue of arm's trading later?"

OOC: In the last couple of day's I've started buying stuff from sarzonia and DMG military industries, and I kinda promised them I'd stick with them... sorry :( .... I'm also about to do another thread about how Northford's first major international port has opened.. so this Summit is kinda out of "sync" with time.......................

OOC: Ah. 13 days, understood. What dierection should I be away from you? Southeast?

IC:

"Well, if that is what you want. If you need them anytime, just ask, and we can forge a deal." The Supreme General told the delegation. "Now, as for that trading deal... it's settled Ethanol for titanium. For that tea, we'll await your growers. So, then, that's that, aye?"
Northford
