To avert Renewal of War ((FT, Intro))

The planet hung, like a Perfect jewel placed in the Blackness of space. The shapes of continents hung, with the green tinged ocean dominating. On the top and bottom, great blue patches of the Polar Caps sat, the white green patch standing out above the normal green of the ocean. Covering various parts of the continents, and over ocean, the cloud cover hung.

This world was Kyorl, a translation into English would reveal the word meant “Guard”. Home of the Koratan. Below, a the species wandered, having known of the Universe outside them, choose to stay in their haven, protected from the outside by the great Station Kyorlan, the translation of which would mean “Guardian”. Thus, it left only one thing to fear, them selves.

Or so they thought.

The great station hung above the world, the Guardian. Oelend lay on the ground, looking up at the great station above them. Even from the ground, it was obvious, the massive thing was larger then a moon, and completely and utterly self maintaining. He wondered, not for the first time, how it worked…surely there was some secret, something they could find out from it.

-Stop being stupid- he thought to himself. They had tried several times to find its secrets, to create craft that matched it. Nothing had succeeded, they had never been, and likely never would, understand the mastery that this technology was.

He rolled onto his stomach, letting the sun bathe him in its light. He felt drowsy, and within moments, his will was sapped away, as he began to sleep…

A new path, he stood on another path from the old one. He could see from here where the path led, to destruction and death. He looked down, and saw that the two forces fighting where of amazing difference. He wondered…he wondered who had made it to his sanctuary, but he could see his own people die, fight against their off world enemies.

But then, he could see his present destination, and he reeled back in horror. This was not the fighting below, which was fighting for survival, this was the savage war of a brother against Brother. He saw clans that where known to him, those of Clan Quarth, their ceremonies no longer tame, but gruesome twisting and distorting of the features. He saw the clawed hands, slicing into the skin, he saw those of Clan Vhid, who led their savage tribes to the battlefield with a tempest. None where spared from their ranks, as a military was forged of every man they could muster, land was left untended, as the Vhid threw themselves onto the ranks of Quarth.

He looked, the destruction wrought was catastrophic…it would shatter the clans as a whole, the remaining would never be the same…the Clans would be shattered, never again would the clans stand. He could see an image, of a man clad in Silver coming from the sky, he would bring a way for survival…he brought them their salvation.

And as the Vision began to dispurse, he knew he had made the choice, the choice to let his own species go to the brink of destruction. For The brink was better then it being total…

…and sometime soon, this war would begin, and at its climax, the station would fail.

And once the station failed, unity would be quickly found.

-+-Decades Later-+-

“What do you mean it failed!” Quarthai Venash roared, looking at the tech adept before him.

“I mean lord, I believe the station is no longer operational.” Quivered the small creature before him. The Quarthai looked down in annoyance.

“And why Jor, do you think this?” he said, a voice like ice.

“B-b-because m-master” he jittered, the insult being hurtful. “It hasn’t fired for a Year, meteorites have struck and it did nothing to stop them, its never done this before…ever”

“Kyorlan’s wrath!” he said, looking down. “To think the war is now done…and this!” he began to pace. “it took us years for this war to end. Years to have the possibility of the Korhedron realized. But without the Kyorlan, there is little chance we are going to be able to…”

“My lord, we will be able to keep it secret a while longer…maybe we can come up with something by then?” The man said.

“Hopefully…” Venash said, his face looking out. “Because if not, the war was usless…”
