OOC: Your Nation's Specialty?

I'm just curious on how armies are put together, and how the people view their forces. What is your armies' 'best' point? What's the focus of your army?

What's mine? Chemical and Biological Weaponry. I'm determined to be the best at it, to have the strongest Chemical Weaponry in the MT scale. I'm rising my way up in the scales, and I have alot of Chemical rivals (such as Raven Corps), but it's progressing well for me.

From Acidic vapours to Cancer inducing 'cookies', Jenrak's greatest asset is the chemical weaponry, and it suits when I frequently have civilian riots. I don't want them dead, just paralysed or tortured, and gas sure helps alot.

The Black Guard
(They have units in all services)

But apart from them, its a tough, choice, my military is quite well balanced
But my tanks are very good, then again, so are my carriers, and my fleet of aircraft.

so hard to choose.

I can tell you who's the worst, the Civil Defense, encompasses everyone under 55 and over 16 whos not in the armed forces. Uses all sorts of equipment, from state of the art, to relics. They recieve the worst kinds of officers and leadership tho.

We are working on creating a multitude of specialized infantry-- anti-piracy brigades, ship capture brigades, heavy police units, armored infantry brigrades designed to take out tanks, armor, and kill troops.

The Navy. The Questarian Royal Navy boasts the largest battleship and aircraft carrier fleet in the entire world (I think, anyway, if anyone wants to challenge this, your call) God Save the Queen!

It'd be a close call between the Air Force and the Navy, the former has the best training and sometimes the best equipment, but the latter is larger in personnel and only slightly less trained. Being a nation comprised of islands, my Army is small and infantry-intensive but well-trained.

Special ops and tactics.
Every citizen has to serve time in the military, and some begin training as children. We have military orphanages, for example, where unwanted children can find a home and acceptance.
We also have very few non-military related sports. The people ignore such fruitless pastimes like baseball, basketball, football, etc. in favor of war simulation games such as paintball, and personal combat tournaments.
Consequently, an enormous amount of energy is put into combat training and tactics.

For those of you who remember, I had an Aircraft storefront a while back, designing and producing my whole air force and naval air power. Along with this, created my Land Order of battle. PROHT compensates for its small military with liberal development in CBW (found definition that catagorises your home microwve as a WMD, especially if it kills something) and a large amount (2 full divisions) of special forces as our first line of defense and as our primary deterant, otherwise we fall back on our infantry, which is massive (over 900 divisions).

Of course the 'SOC' Police force I have is quite potent in its own right, since they include our Central Intelligence Agency and get all the cool triple hush stuff. Everyone else setles for common or at best, double hush.
Shenyang
23-03-2006, 03:19
I voted SF, though our Air Force has an a larger budget. The Shenyang Special Operations Command can and does have the capabilities to engage anyone, anywhere, anytime. The ODST, ODST Recon, the SAS, the 160th SOAR, Special Operations Detatchment Delta, Rangers, Marine Corps Airborne, Navy SEALs, Spetznaz/Osnaz, Force Recon, ISAF Commandos, and Splinters make up the single most comprehensive SOCOM unit list ever. It can do everything. Stealth, direct action, you name, Shenyang's got it. We use these guys for practically everything, and they always have top-line combat gear to help them get the job done and get home safe. SSOCOM all the way.

(This doesn't include non-military special forces, such as those under the command of Shenyangi Central Intelligence, though they are just as well funded as their military counterparts)

How do you cope against an enemy with a large air force and nearly unbreakable series of SAM systems?

Considering that 45% of my budget and military manpower goes to the Air Force, there only a few nations that have an air force considerablly large than me (most of them are actually my allies). As for SAM systems, there is no such thing as unbreakable. If you must know how I deal with them, I generally use long-range standoff ballastic missiles to hit the SAM sites from afar and out of their range before bringing in my fighters to wipe anything left over. I can effectively neutralize a nation's air defense with little risk on my own.
Otagia
23-03-2006, 03:44
I've found that properly defended areas have relatively little problems with special forces. After all, there's not much that a few men can do against a facility with autoturrets, attack geese and a full garrison. All the training in the world doesn't mean squat when you're faced with a 120mm cannon firing grapeshot at anything that moves.
Naktan
23-03-2006, 03:47

I don't have a speciality, per se. However, my army is very biased in composition towards heavy armour; tanks, IFVs, self-propelled artillery, etc. Another thing to know about my army is that it's very large, extremely well-equipped, and exquisitely trained. Of course, that's to be expected when an army takes up 55% of a twenty-eight trillion dollar defense budget.
