"...and so, great citizens of the Republic, I am here to correct the wrong doing of my father and brother. It has been with great success and warm feelings that the Imperial Senate of Taledonia, I myself as Emperor of Taledonia, and the Senate of the entire Repulic, have all agreed to the release of all Kazeci slaves still within Republican borders. The Zarithians have also generously donated their finest luxury cruisers that will ferry the now free peoples back to their ancient home planet of Kazecistan, which is also being ceeded back to its people after years of control by the Empire. Though we know that it will take many many years for relations between the Republic and the newly reformed Kazeci nation, I hope that this will be a step forward, however small, to attaining that goal."
-Consul Julianus Augustus Kellerman, Kazeci Liberation Statement

Governor Domitian gathered the few remaining personal effects from his room within the regional palace. Since the conquest of the planet Kazecistan, he had been incharge of it, and now, because the Emperor wished it, he was being removed from his post, and ordered to vacate the now foreign territory. He felt a tinge of self pity, as he had so loved the planet, but, at least he could now retire back to his family's rather lavish villa on Faith. But still...

As his ship cast off from space dock and prepared to make the jump back to the Empire, he looked upon the planet he had ruled, and already he missed it so. Another ripple appeared in space near the planet, as the luxury cruisers appeared and began their descent towards the planets surface. Behind them, came humanitarian supplies, such as food and water and clothing.

The Kazeci would be left to rebuild for awhile, which would also give them time to try and collect all their people still spread across the galaxy. After a few years, when things became stable again, relations would once again be extended towards the Kazeci, in hopes of peaceful co-existence and trade.

ooc: Has much been changed about the planet, environment, living spaces, technology, etc.?

This is going to be fun.

Ic: Most tears had already been shed when they were given their freedom, but upon arrival at their home planet another wave came over most. Back to their lives, after so long, back to being a people. Home. Only once they arrived on the ground did those tears turn from joy to sorrow. It was a very empty home, and it would take much time to rebuild their numbers. No government was set up immediately, each knew to follow the old laws and each knew the essentials in getting self-sufficiency back up and running.

sIc: Word of the announcement spread like wild fire and reached the Kazecis quickly. Their stolen brethren were now free, their home now liberated. They longed to make contact, but feared it was a trap, or worse, could lead to the loss of their anonymity. Few yet knew of their existence as a nation. And that few could not be allowed to include the Taledonians at any cost if they were to exact their retribution. Their current numbers were twice anything Taledonia had ever known of them and dozens of times anything the newly freed Kazecis could muster. This provided an awesome opportunity for treachery. ((here's were it gets really secret ic, so if any of the below is news to you, then you never heard it)) With a few months time, they could enter into Taledonian space in Kazeci vessels, small ones, and take out the FTLi. The Taledonians would be lead to believe that they were the freed people, come for diplomacy. In reality, they would be members of the Kazeci nation, plotting to pave the way for the end of all Taledonia. The only missing piece in the plan had now fallen into place. It was time for the Republic to bleed.

(OOC: Only thing changed is that there is now a small city on the surface of the planet. Taledonian architecture with a big provincial palace in the middle of it. This was the head of administrations on the planet.)

ooc: Was the Kazeci city inhabited? I'll get a few 'back to normal life' posts in, then fast forward to their relations w/ you, okay?

(OOC: Yeah, about that, don't expect a reply, or acknowledgement. I'm basically just giving an announcement. We won't be opening relations with you for a few weeks or so RL time.)

ooc: I was thinking we could use this thread for that, no? My people will likely speak with their lost brethren sooner than your NS time frame, so I thought this would be a good place for that as the two will 'merge.'

(OOC: Do what you wish, just don't expect us to answer any messages from you for awhile. We may have ships pop in and out every once in awhile to scan the place, but that's the extent of our activity.)

Ic: Ryan took a break, the others could cover for him for a while. Besides, it was depressing sitting behind the monitors, looking over all of the change that had occurred in their absence, knowing that it would be a long time before normality was restored. He walked the broad halls, stepping around the automated cleaning devices as they worked for the first time in years. It was quiet and lonely here, the others had all congregated in another area. His walk wasn't helping. Time for a ride, look over nature's beauty. That ought to cheer me up. he thought.

Brushing off the controls of a bullet that sat waiting, he fired it up. Still works. That's a start. He threw the accelerator to maximum, just wanting to get away from it all. He didn't care where he went, just so long as he could drown out emotion with the Gees. Nope, not good enough. Setting the autopilot to return home after dropping him, he left the craft. The speeder slid out the back of the bullet, coming under its own power and carrying him away. Finally, Ryan could feel the wind in his face. He spent several hours speeding aimlessly before he came across the Taledonian city.

His speed dropped sharply as he looked upon it. "Damn Talidonians! Why can't you take your ugly filth back with you? This is our planet! It'll take years to undo this." He shouted, but only a mumble escaped his lips. A voice called his name, was it real? Again, it called. Looking down at the comm, he saw its source.

"Ryan, are you out there? Come on."
He blinked before answering, coming back to the present. "Yeah, what's up?"
"You've been gone for four hours, we were getting worried."
"I'm fine."
"There's a lot of work to be done, it'd be nice if-"
"Yeah, I'm on my way."

A temporary government was instituted later that day. It possessed far fewer branches and titles, but there were only enough people for the necessary tasks, nothing could be wasted in places like air traffic control, research, recreational affairs, and military production. People were designated tasks that they weren't always trained in- but they still had as much skill as anyone else. Slowly, social patterns also developed and things began to get closer to 'normal'.

ooc: slight bit of a fast forward...

Ic: Several dozen BT craft left the reclaimed planet and jumped to diffrent portions of the Taledonian empire. Each was stopped by the FTLi in a diffrent place.

Within seconds, the first waves of the defensice forces positioned in the Empire's borders arrived at the area, all Taledonian craft of course since they were fastest, however the other forces were well on their way. It was a slight shock to the men operating the borders, seeing Kazeci vessels so soon at the Empire.

Kazeci vessels, this is Taledonian command. You are intruding on Republican soil and Republican forces are en route to intercept your forces. You are to stand down your shields and weapons systems, power down your engines and come to a complete stop and submit your intentions or this will be seen as an act of war.

Since each of the bullet transports received the same message, despite their being spread across the boarders of the Taledonian empire, they each gave the same response.
I'm afraid you'll have to take another look at your sensors, sirs. We come in unarmed craft, whose shields could hardly stand up to a fighter's weapons, let alone anything larger. You honestly expect a people numbering in the thousands who've been free for a matter of months to pose a threat? Go ahead, scan every inch of our craft, there's nothing here to hurt anyone. As for our intentions, we simply wish to tour the empire. The maps in our record bases needed to be dusted off and aren't complete or up-to-date. While we could request maps, it was simpler for us to send these small craft for surveying. Plus, we'd like to set foot on some of your worlds as freemen- it's a sentiment thing and would mean a great deal to all of us here and those back home. A step in the healing process.

After a brief conference with Taledon command, orders from the Emperor personally were relayed to the Kazeci. They said to go home, and never approach the Empire again unless otherwise instructed.

All but one of the craft departed, headed back for Kazecistan. The remaining one petitioned them again.
Perhaps just one of us then? You would deny 14 old Kazecis the chance to walk free on Taledonian soil? It would mean a great deal to us, even if we were under guard, should that be the condition necessary to allow us passage.

A cold reply came back.

The Emperor has made his policy on dealing with the Kazeci very clear. No contact is to be made with your people until otherwise sanctioned by his Imperial Mjesty. Now leave immeadiatly.

Border out.

The ship left. It would never return.

sIc: Once the boarder patrol had dispersed, the plan was put into action. Using data on the Taledonain FTLi obtained through old Kazeci records and passive scanning done during the arrival of the boarder patrol, a passive scanning device was created and fine tuned to detect the Taledonian FTLi field and measure its properties. Using STL stealth drives and under heavy cloak, the Kazeci frigates began to seep throughout the empire. When one found an FTLi station, it would sit with it, piggy-backing on its FTL jumps and following it. Years the Kazeci had had to plan this, years to develop the technology, years to build up the assault force. Now the time had come and the plan was set into motion. Not only was the cloaking nearly perfect, the Taledonians had no reason to suspect it. Nearly a hundred cloaked frigates lurked in the empire, each using passive scanning to stalk a station. The date rapidly approached.
