Idea: Roleplaying in different language?

Last Night, I thought of a few different RP's, in which people could RP in their own (Native) Language.
Now, don't start yelling "Won't work!" "Stupid!". Please read this and reply with your arguments.
It basically applies to most languages. As long as we can gather enough people for every language, they can start a RP in their native (Doesn't need to be native. Near-Native or advanced speakers are also welcome) language. I would be able to start a Dutch RP, as long as I get another player.
I think this is can be a quite good idea, as people who have English as a second language (like me), mostly have a way bigger vocabulary in their language. This could lead to better RP'ing.
Who would say "Yes" to this idea? Who says "No"? Please say why, I would like to know why not or why we should.

I say yes.

Mmm... good idea. However, this could result in the formation of differant RP-ing circles in which people would not RP outside of the groups that RP in their own language, ie the alienation of speakers of foreign languages. That would be your one problem, the fragmentation of the accepted NS world. Other than that, it is a great idea and if there were a few German speakers doing this, I might try and learn better German! :-P

I think so. A better way would be to take a selected few to an offsite forum so NS itself won't suffer. It would still be pleasurable, and people would, hopefully, also RP on NS itself.
But the problem might not be so big as one thinks. I think, that after a while people will already start to want to go back to their own club of English-writing RP's, as most of these RP'ing groups are multinational and they won't be able to take their RP'ing buddies with them.

Possibly a way of running it would be an "alternate universe" idea, where people RP on NS in english, and on an offsite forum in their own language. If it were to be combined, however, there is a way. Someone is designated as the official leader of the offsite other-language forums and in a thread on NS they could provide an overview of what has happened on the offsite forum. Sorry if that doesn't make sense... I'm kinda confused myself! :-P

That could well work. People would not be excluded, as they knew what happened in those different-language RP's.
And it made sense, don't worry. :p

People will still be excluded because they'll be unable to interact with the events in RPs in other languages. To avoid this fragmentation, I suggest keeping these roleplays outside the NS main forums.

Yeah. MSN Is a great tool, you know.

I like this idea.. but my foriegn language base is limited to GCSE German, which I got a C in... so yeah, go for it... but do it off site.

That was already the plan.
I am able to speak Dutch (Native)
German (Hmm. Intermediate?)
French (Beginner, nearing Intermediate)
I won't start about my other languages. I would preferably do an RP in Dutch for myself, on offsite forums in which several categories (French, Dutch, German, Whatever) are present. I would need fluent speakers of other languages (except for Dutch, which I can handle myself) to do the languages.

I was going to suggest the single site, which different catergories, as it's just so much logistically easier.

Perhaps there should be a place on the offsite forums where beginners can learn, with a native speaker giving advice?

That would be a great idea! Noted. Keep the ideas going, It would really make the thing better.

I think the idea behind this is to have players RP in their native languages, not have them learn other ones and roleplay in them.

Not really. Surely it would benefit more people if they could learn to RP in another language. It would expand your horizons.

It would merely be for improvement of existing languages in the player's CV only. I really don't think I'm gonna set up an institute which will learn NS Players a lot of languages.

Learning a language, let alone roleplaying decently in it, is not something that can be done in an Internet forum. :p

On a tape or CD is still plausible, but a forum... No.

It would really be for those who are intreasted in improving their hold on a language, one would not expect them to be taught an entire language from scratch. They can learn to deal with the language competantly on their own, then go and learn RPing terms on the forum.
ARRGH... your making me want to go out and buy books on learning German now! :-P

It's a good idea, like Wingarde said, but unfortunately, it would alienate people due to communication barriers...

I'm candidate for a Dutch RP, whenever you like. I'll even do it here

And that's why we're probably basing it on an "Alternative world" so that normal NS won't be affected and it doesn't affect your normal NS contacts. Offsite aswell.
