Lost In Space (OOC; Open; FT)

This is the OOC thread to go along with my intro thread. I created this thread because someone keeps making pure OOC posts in my threads and is holding up the story.

IC Thread: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=465473

In relation to the thermal 'damage', I covered that when I referenced the convection zone of a star.

GP is at work right now, and he asked me to keep an eye on his threads while he was AFK.

1.) I do believe it is a special type of shield that allows a ship to spend time in a star's corona.

2.) Nuclear explosions due have the tendency to turn armor into worthless radioactive slag.

3.) The freezing depths of space may re-solidify the slag, but the damage would already be done.
Theao
18-03-2006, 20:48
In relation to 1.)
For those ships that utilize shields, then yes, as my ships don't utilize shields, that is not really relavent. Also the Convection Zone is the 3rd layer, rather than the corona which is part of the 5th.

In relation to 2.)
The temperature would be insufficiant to melt the armour(see In relation to 1.))
Gorn Hegemony

Not the temperature that causes the major damage, its all the radiactive debris. Ever wonder what happens when that many stray neutrons and other sub-atomic particles hit a ship?

As for the star layer thing, it would have to be a very strange ship not to be able to survive that far from a star. Its when a ship gets inside the corona that counts due to radiation and temperature.

I skimmed the IC thread earlier, and if there's any real problem with Galactic Patrol it's his absolute mangling of canon Patrol attitudes, tech and timeline.

Other than that, carry on.
Theao
19-03-2006, 04:16
Far from a star, don't you mean that close to a star, as it can pass through the corona, and photosphere.

Also, radiation/neutrons/sub-atomics are likewise handled by hull and occasionally(for extremely(beyond nuclear) intense levels) shields.
Galactic Patrol

He's not assuming, thats how it is in the books. For all your bits about 'sticking to canon' you aren't doing a very good job of it. Needle beams for example, are meant to support boarding actions, and are for very close range combat.

The Brittania's primary weapon is only a single Q-gun, and the regular members of its class don't even have that.

Don't even get me started on the vacuum tube and punchcard 'computers' that CANON Galactic Patrol ships have.

It's all about yield. A conventional warhead (even one in triple digit megatons) is going to have a massively reduced effectiveness just as well.

Doesn't matter, this is my last post in the thread.

Finally, while I use this account for pirating purposes in terms of RP, I also use it to OOCly evaluate nations that my main account would never come into contact with.

As such, you've all also pretty much failed that test. Kirusoba, you're the only exception, since there's not really much to evaluate an opinion on you yet. Work on grammar though, please.

Theao, best RPer of the bunch, but you come across as having an undeserved sense of superiority, and arrogance like that really gets to me.

Galactic Patrol, whether or not you're SeaQuest doesn't really matter, the fact remains that you act like him, and that's enough to fail you IMO right there. If you're really not him, I suggest you read through his RPs and avoid doing that sort of stuff. If you are him, well, look at it this way, at least I'm giving you 'constructive criticism.'

//Edit: My apologies for the thread derailment, I suggest we all treat this as Gradasi and myself were never here, and you continue from just before we came in. Again, sorry.

1.) Just because I used the name Britannia, doesn't mean its the same ship in the book. It is, in fact, my own design.

2.) I am quite willing to start a seperate thread where we can settle things. As long as we decide, before hand in an OOC thread, the rules and limits. I'm willing to do this, are you?

3.) I'm afraid you are incorrect. I don't act like SeaQuest in any way. His battle tactics are different from mine, for example.

4.) I am not SeaQuest.

@The Territory: And how many times have you read all eleven books, or seen the anime, or read the mangas?

@Theao: I wouldn't bother trying to argue with G.H.. Once he gets something in his head, its really hard to get it out.

Yes you are. For that matter, so is Gorn Hegemony. They are not several people using the same computer, all three are the same person. Please don't lie about your puppet nations.

@The Territory: And how many times have you read all seven books, or seen the anime, or read the mangas?

I've read the books several to numerous times. I've seen the cartoon, and whole amusing it's obviously "inspired by" rather than "based on". I wasn't even aware there was a comic. I've read David Kyle's The Dragon Lensman and while it is closer to Smith than the cartoon, you don't have to conflate that raven-haired stalwart Kimball Kinnison with sandy-thatched country bumpkin Luke Skywalker to make for a decidedly dubious derivative.

And so, yes, mangled.

Sorry, but I'm not lying. I'm not SeaQuest, but he is sitting next to me right now. And G.H. is currently at class right now.

And I would appreciate it if you didn't make assumptions like that.

You all use the same IP, thus the mods do not know that there is more than one person. Ergo, to them (And I'm fairly sure I'm right here) you are all the same person. They don't know you're more than one person, you could be lying (Probably not, but they don't know)

for ease of reference the Chiang Lung looks like a 23rd century romulan warbird (the one from balance of terror; ST:TOS). its gunmetal coloured although.

it has twin plasma beam weapons, 4 plasma torpedo launchers fore and 4 torpedo launchers aft.

its main weapon is its agility although and it can usually get out of trouble by using evasive manoevers.

they're primarily science and exploration ships rather than warships and they don't useally fight unless they are attacked first.

It's not an assumption. You and Gorn Hegemony use the same email addy, one that begins 'Seaquest.' You also all have several other distinguishing traits in common with Seaquest that several people using the same computer would not have.

You are Seaquest.

You all use the same IP, thus the mods do not know that there is more than one person.

No, it's far more than that.

@GMC Military Arms:
1.) Using the same free Yahoo e-mail account for the region (it was called that in honor of our first (non-NS RP) sim together was SeaQuest based (SQ, the guy behind the nation, was actually the founder of that as well as our NS region)).
2.) All I see are you taking things like the same IP (due to all of us using the floor's internet ready computer) and same free Yahoo e-mail account (done to make things easier as we could all have our NS stuff in one place without having to log-in and log-out tons of times to check multiple accounts) and making the false assumption (yes, it is an assumption and it is 100% inaccurate) that GP, SQ, GH, and others are one-and-the-same.
3.) [sarcastic voice=On]You want the regionally used MSN address also?[/sarcastic voice=Off]
4.) Why do you have it out for SQ? You pester him on the NS Draftroom forums and here you are saying GP is him without any proof.

And the same writing style, format for sigs, and numerous other sections of the nation? Quit playing games and admit it, you have a lot of puppets in your region. Lying won't get you out of this.

4.) Why do you have it out for SQ? You pester him on the NS Draftroom forums and here you are saying I'm him without any proof.

I have all the proof I need [and significantly more than I can post here]. You want me to get an admin in to back me up?

Also, you seem to have an awfully good knowledge of what Seaquest gets up to for a 'friend on the same floor,' and the same habit of confusing criticism for having it in for someone. Hmmm...
Galactic Patrol

@GMC Military Arms:

Just stop and think for a minute instead of jumping to conclusions.

1.) Ever stop to consider that our RP formats are similar because we learned to RP together?

2.) The sig formats were all voted on by us as region members. We decided to use the same style.

3.) Ever consider that some of us might actually be relatives of each other instead of just friends?

4.) I take it you don't recall what dorm life was like.

5.) The fact that I'm not American (just go to school and work here) and SQ is also needs to be taken into consideration (I'm actually from England).

6.) Don't you dare start picking on DE now.

7.) You are trying to bait me, and my region mates, to get a rise out of us. Trust me, we won't let any of those that you could get a rise out of involved in this.

8.) D.E. is right. All you are doing is making assumptions.

9. ) Why don't you just leave me and the other members of my region alone? There is no problem here requiring the presence of a moderator.

This has gone on long enough. I have taken measures to put a stop to this.

@Galactic Patrol: I would like you to sit down and shut up about this.

@Dragon Emperor: Nice to see you back, dude. However, it would have been better if you had not gotten involved.

@GMC Military Arms: Can you just drop it? Its not that important.

Oh, for your information, our IC styles me be similar, but our OOC styles are light-years apart.
GMC Military Arms

6.) Don't you dare start picking on DE now.

Why not? You're all the same person, there's no way to start picking on part of you. And pointing out you're being dishonest isn't picking on you.

7.) You are trying to bait me, and my region mates, to get a rise out of us. Trust me, we won't let any of those that you could get a rise out of involved in this.

No, I'm pointing out you're lying about others in this thread [Gorn Hegemony, Dragon Emperor] not being your puppets. Sockpuppeting is out under the II forum rules, under puppet-wanking. Don't do it.

There's nothing wrong with having a lot of puppets as long as you're honest and open about it, but when you use them to back each other up OOC, that's bad. More so when you try to do it against a moderator.

8.) D.E. is right. All you are doing is making assumptions.

Assumptions based on the proof I have that you're all the same person, yes. Same writing style [especially tendency to prefix posts with '@'], same knowledge of Seaquest's off-board dealings [and same opinion on those dealings], same tendency to take criticism as a personal attack, same region, same email, same IP, a whole lot of other 'sames' that a group of friends wouldn't have.

1:1 IP match (which doesn't happen for friends "occasionally sharing the same computer")

And in everything else, it matches up as described. GMC can be rabid at times, but this time he is most certainly on the money.

So, there are one of two options:

1) Gorn Hegemony, SeaQuest, Galactic Patrol, and Dragon Emperor are all the same person.

2) They are actually run by a group of friends who all use shared information so they can log onto each others' nations. Which is, in essence, the same problem multiplied by several people.

Both situations lead to sockpuppeting as can be seen here (note the time differences between posts, just right for posting, logging out, logging in, and posting again) and are UNACCEPTABLE in International Incidents.

Yes, SeaQuest, it is a big deal. Stop immediately.
SeaQuest
20-03-2006, 05:27
1.) The IP matches BECAUSE this is the public computer for this floor of the dorm that has internet access.

2.) GMC blew this whole thing out of propertion. I'm only trying to put an end to it.

3.) Just because we discuss our nations in RL outside of Jolt, it doesn't make us each other's puppets.

4.) Now, can we just drop this subject? My friends and I are sick and tired of this and just want to get back to RP'ing.

I'm going hands off on this topic as of now like SQ suggested.
