Norse Country
18-03-2006, 15:08
Today, in a solemn ceremony, the national flag was hauled down and replaced with the stars and stripes of the Union of People's Republics of Whittier. The former national flag of Norse Country will still be flown but it now relegated to the status of state flag instead of national flag.
The changing of the flags is just the start of changes that will be happening in Norse Country now that Whittier has taken over direct control.
As the flags were changed there was also a changing of the guard. The Norse Army guards in the Norse Capital were replaced by troops from the army of Whittier. Whittier national forces will be replaced by Norse Country's new state police next year.
Other changes in the pipeline:
Next month:
Whittier Laws go into effect in Norse Country. Among those is a law that makes virtually all abortions illegal.
Also, clones will now have to be treated the same way as all other humans by the state government.
All current noncommunist political parties must now register with the Whittier government.
Churches and other religious organizations will have to start paying taxes just like everyone else does.
Also, noone will be able to alter their cars without the express consent of the National Committee for Automobiles. A government agency that dictates to people what color they can paint their cars, what accessories they can have.
In July, Whittier tax laws will also go into effect for Norse people.
There will be huge jump in spending for schools in Norse Country, as education is a major item in the national budget and Norse Country will be getting its fair share of federal education dollars.
Also, beginning next year, Norse Country residents will be eligible for free national healthcare service.
The changing of the guard ceremony was followed by a statewide party celebrating Norse Country's official entrance into the UPR.
