IC:
The sinking wreckage of the super dreadnought Endgame was gone. In its place the ocean was awash in flames and curling yellow/orange plumes of fire spread quickly outwards over the area. Chunks of red hot metal were still plummeting back down into the water, some having traveled over hundreds of meters in different directions.
Air Marshal Cynath stood watching from the bridge of the aircraft carrier, IYS Summoner. The weapons development had passed his expectations long ago, but this test now extended its reality beyond his imagination. The implausible is done.
‘Time to go, Captain,’ he declared loudly, turning from the flame filled scene outside the ships window. ‘Recall all aircraft and take us back to Imperial waters. Our little fun here will not have gone undetected.’

Deep withing the walls of Fourhearts Air Command, the technicains of SkyNet were busy at work when various chimes sounded.

The Chief quickly ran to the command screen. Sattalite Images were reporting a bright flash somewhere in international waters.
It was common in the NSWorld to obtain nuclear weapons, and quite another for one to actaully use it.

The technician was working diligently. This was a very hot job that had come down the pipe. Cheif Air Marshal Jason Maverick had come down stairs to watch. This was not a good thing.
Indeed the sattalite photos clearly showed the Dreadnought being decimated by what seemed to be a single fighter.
This bothered Air Marshal Maverick a great deal.
"Are you SURE there were no subs in the water? Anything else that could have destroyed such a craft?", demanded Maverick.
"I'm afraid so Sir. It seems they've created a nuclear weapon that's small enough to fit on a jet fighter."
Maverick shook his head, "Get me Juliana University"

In a matter of moments, a very hurried professor of nuclear science was in the room surrounded by people in uniforms.
Maverick spoke up, "I'm sorry for interuptting your lunch Doctor, but the King requires your expert opinion. You'll be sworn to secrecy for the moment, but we'll invite your family over for dinner at the palace later on to make up for your troubles.
The photos you are looking at are a nuclear test conducted over international waters. Take a look."
Doctor Spear looked at the photos.

The Emperor wiped a bead of sweat as he read the most recent report his Intelligence Service had handed him. It appeared that a nuclear explosion had occured someway in international waters. None of his fleets had been nearby, but the action had been caught by one of the Socialist Imperial State's spy satellites. Those images were under analysation for identification of who, or what, was in the area.
A most TOP SECRET and CONFIDENTIAL Intelligence Report from the Imperial Intelligence Service, Covert Satellite Division
For the Emperor's Eyes Only
On Pain of Death
Your highness, just 1 hour ago, Imperial Covert Satellite ICS#131 picked up what appears to be a nuclear explosion in international waters aprox. 150 NM from MelekTaus coast, Grid Ref 52V 23H Map Code #83A12. Analysts currently processing data. Suggested action: Await more intel from Analysts on possible identification of vessels around the detonation area. Place Military on Medium Alert. Place Nuclear Detterance vessels and silos on medium alert. Put the Counter Ballistic Missile System, CBMS, on Maximum Alter, and prep the Counter Ballistic Missile ICBRs.
Your command, however, is your wish....
"Lets do it...." With that, the Emperor followed all of the advised actions, with an additional order for the West Fleet to move towards interntional waters, but to stay atleast 50 NM away from the blast site.

"Excuse me Doctor?"
The Doctor sighed visibly.
"I'll try and explain it for you again. To get an explosion of that size, you need a warhead that's much bigger than the one you've shown me here. Whoever destroyed that SD, must have gone though several scientific breakthroughs. If you're video is correct, a single jet fighter could now enter our nation and destory a whole city."
Maverick shook his head. Mankind was an idoit. They could already destroy the World, why build something worse?"
Now it was time to inform Paliment and the Royal Family.

All across the military sectors of MelekTaus, Marines, Sailors and Air Arm personel were putting on NBC gear, as a precaution, while prepping nuclear bunkers. Spy satellites had started to close in on the areas around MelekTaus, scanning for any threats, while the Empire's various RADAR bases and fleets kept watch on the horizon for any hostile movement.
The multitude of ICBR silos, designed to work with satellite and ground detection devices to launch ICBRs at ICBMs aproaching MelekTaus began prepping inside, ready for the 'black word', the code word for a nuclear strike directed at MelekTaus. Everyone's worse nightmare.
The skies began to fill, also, with E-2C Hawkeyes from the Home Fleet's Nimitz class carriers, and E-3D Sentries from the Airforce, to keep extra eyes out.
Meanwhile, in the IIS department, expert scientists and intelligence officers analysed the imges caught by the ICS#131, noticing that the explosion followed an image of a particuarly large ship, much like a dreadnaught. The profile of an aircraft could also be seen, of around fighter size, but tht was yet to be confirmed.

The grand conclave-Avalon City
"I'm sure our comrade of la casa di protezione can breif you on the situation beter than I can, Claudia if you could?"
"Of course Comrade Premeire"
Claudia Mentori stood, the eyes of the conclave were fixed upon her. She looked down at the red velvet rose she held in her cupped hands, it was the first time she had noticed it, although she had been playing with it all throughout the breifing this far. The others must have noticed it, a nervious habit of hers, well at least they would be prepared for bad news.
"Comrades, I'm afraid the situation may be worse than first anticipated, comunications between myself and doctor Antrochev lead us to beleve that this weapon represents one of the most potent weapons we have seen to date" The silence was choking, but she continued.
"This weapon, if it was indeed launched from a single person aircraft may represent the first step into an age of tactical neuclear weaponry. I have asigned the Crimson Blossom to assertain the source of the weapon in question, but there is little we can do until that point."
It was the Prima Compagnia who spoke next "It is of course, critical that we do not allow this to affect the smooth running of New-Avalon, tell nothing to your houses and I will request that the Conclave of Peoples do the same. I have contacted our allies...and a few individuals whom may be counted upon to intervene, if only in their own best interests. Is there anything else to say?"
There was not, the conclave emptied in silence leaving Prima Compagnia Di'Farranti alone. She sighed, thankful of the profesionalism of her companions. New-Avalonh had survived to this point, and she was not going to fail it now.
She turned and left the chamber, now it was time to talk to the Conclave of Peoples.

The Commonalitarianism satellite feed had picked up the explosions.
10 stealth drones moved out of the aircraft carrier sized Hammerhead mothership submarine . They were each the size of a polaris missile. Coated with radar absorbing paint, hardened against electromagnetic radiation, with sonar absorbing tiles, and running silently on their bubble jet underwater engines they moved towards the site of the nuclear explosions. They each sported twin 40mm supercavitating cannons and housed high explosives.
They would broadcast radar, sonar, and advanced video images back to the mothership of all of the ships in the vicinity using both an acoustic modem and encrypted message feed. A few would move near the surface and deploy small video camera periscopes to identify all the ships in the vicinity.

The members of the High Council still present in the capital were themselves only just receiving their first glimpses of the Infinite Empires new weapon. A large screen was set up against the far wall of the Council chambers and a data feed of the test from the IYS Summoner was being projected onto it.
As they watched in awe, a guard entered quietly through the double doors. In his hand he held a piece of paper. ‘Excuse me, my Lords. We have received a communiqué from the Kingdom of Fourhearts.’
‘It appears the world has taken notice of our achievements sooner than anticipated,’ said Erkal, the head of foreign affairs, ‘I will deal with this.’ Taking the paper, he left the room with the guard to make a reply.

I’m afraid that you are somewhat mistaken. The Infinite Empire of Yallak possesses no nuclear weapons. That program was shut down years ago and the last of our stockpile was sold off or dismantled many months ago.
No doubt, this message has come as a result of the test conducted only hours ago. I assure you it was not nuclear and that there will be no residual radiation of any kind in the area.
Do not be concerned though, so long as you do not become our enemy you have no reason to fear this new development.

The Imperial Guardian Satellite Network picked up the images of the weapons testing and the destructive capabilities of the weapon that appeared to be some sort of massive nuclear strike. The Satellite feed was sent to the Imperial Intelligence Bureau (I.I.B.) for immediate study and analysis. The head of the I.I.B. Shadow High Lord Victor Zomorov sent the information to the Imperial Archducal Council and the Emperor for immediate Imperial orders.
The Emperor Alfonso Von Antheron read over the information and nearly allowed his jaw to drop before giving his command to the six Archdukes present, "My fellow lords, We must put the Grand Eternal Empire of Deatharon on yellow alert." He then hands the report and the video images to the other members of the Imperial Archducal Council.
The Archdukes looked at everything and sighed nuclear war was not something new but it was costly and had turned the Empire into a desert wasteland. The Archdukes nodded and gave their seals of approval to the Emperor Alfonso to allow him to send a response from the Empire. This would be the first time the Grand Eternal Empire of Deatharon broke its diplomatic isolation policy after the formation of the Deatharon/Xellion Pact.

The King read it and paused.
"Not nuclear??"
King Drake IV handed the message off to his son Prince Drake V who read it out to the rest of the group.
One of the military advisors spoke up, "They could be lying."
A scientist chimed in, "Perhaps they have discovered a way to create massive explosions that is different than a nuclear weapon?"
Prince Drake spoke next, "Whatever it is, Fourhearts better have something to counter it. If they can do that much damage using a single fighter jet, we might want to think about increasing the SAM Sites around the Heartian Islands."
The King pondered for a moment.
"General Green, purchase 20 more SAM Missile Silos as a protective measure. We're on good terms with the Empire of Yallak, but if a nation we are not so freindly with ever gets a weapon like this we need to be ready. Secretary Aliza, prepare another diplomatic message"

We have confirmed that the explosion indeed was nuclear. Live feed of the sunken boat with exact details showing the irradiated areas of the ocean. Irradiated scrap metal. Satellite feed of location of test exercises. Before and after pictures of fleet. The feeds appear to come from three separate waters, satellite, balloon airship, and uuv-- unmanned underwater vehicles.
You have trespassed in our waters and exploded a nuclear weapon. These were not international waters. The environmental damage was significant. We are giving you a final warning. We are demanding immediate environmental remediation, we are also demanding commercial remediation for damage to our fisheries. If the area is not cleaned up we will retaliate. We have potential loss of millions of dollars to commercial fisheries and a dead zone of sea life. A map with borders covering most of the Pacific Oceans International Waters appears. These are our borders. Be warned we have space based weapons systems.
OOC- Background Note: Feed does not show location of cameras. Anything that occurs in international waters is our waters because we are floating Fuller domed cities and a few fixed islands. Our borders make no sense. We generally try to argue we have a right to everything on the ocean. We are trying to claim all of the Pacific as our base. This would appear in most international literature. There are a few other countries which are ocean based as well.

The IYS Summoner was heading full ball back to Imperial waters. Already, several ships had been detected entering the area to examine what evidence was left of the massive explosion for themselves and Marshal Cynath had decided that it would not be wise to stay incase any of those ships thought it best to stop the carrier from escaping.
Standing at the communications console, Cynath was in the process of sending their recorded data back to the Empire when the device before him began beeping.
Incoming communication, how interesting, he though, switching over to receive the message. Feazanthian, haven’t heard of them before…. Do I require assistance?….
The Marshal found the message somewhat amusing, but refrained from laughing and began to broadcast a polite reply.
‘This is the Imperial Yallakian Carrier Summoner.
What you have detected was not at all a nuclear weapon; it was oh so much more advanced. We do not require assistance at this time, but thank you anyway.
I would advise you avoid the oil fire now burning while you remain in the area.’

We are tracking the registry of any commercial or military vehicle from your country entering our waters. This includes tankers, and other ships.
Meanwhile: In a small shadowed office in the Office of Economic Warfare, the Minister of Special Services meets with several men. Are we prepared to attack the economic infrastructure of this country. We are planning a blockade. Are we prepared for a cyberattack to gain access to all shipping data from Yallak.
UUVs: Should have covered and tracked all vessels.
OOC: This may be a bit off, but the Law of the Sea for both UN and current countries covers up tp 200 nautical miles for the extended economic zone beyond the sea shore. This effectively makes the 150 nautical mile nuclear test within your borders in fishing and commercial lanes. Having been working on sonofusion, the Commonalitarianism realized it was possible to build a fusion warhead with almost no residual radiation after the explosion. The First Fleet was still being constructed in Sarzonian shipyards. Until then, the Feazanthian Navy was limited to their old Leningrad battleships and Monk corvettes - nearly everything else had been cannibalized for resources. Hell - something like that could wipe out Feazanthia's entire coastal defense system.

We apologize for any hint that this is a radioactive weapon. After looking at stress and heat analysis from fragments of the ship, we are still concerned that this is either a high yield fusion device with almost undetectable radiation or some other high energy explosive. We realize that this will not affect our fisheries directly, but we ask in the future that you test your weapons in a more isolated location far from shipping or fisheries. We are willing to lease a small island deep in the Pacific, an undersea cavern, or a deep sea range area where these sorts of tests are less visible.

Usmarin was confused. How could such a blast be non-nuclear? A clean nuke, she could understand. But she knew of no non-nuclear weapon that could create such a blast.
After speaking with President Asika, Usmarin arranged for an environmental impact team to investigate the blast zone.
‘Foreign Minister, may I have a brief word?’ asked Mordont Norath, Director-General of the Xirniumite Secret Intelligence Service, in the respectfully deferential tone that he always reserved for addressing Lady Gilda. The XSIS Chief’s cold, grey eyes twinkled unsettlingly, betraying a ruthless and determined persona.
Heather Gilda paused at the Director’s request, frowning as she turned to face the man. Appointed by, and accountable to, the Foreign Minister, the Chief of the XSIS was required to report weekly to the Lady Gilda regarding the Intelligence Service’s day-to-day work (though today was not the usual day for such briefings).
‘Very well, D, I can spare you five minutes,’ explained the Foreign Minister as she checked her watch momentarily. In honour of the first Chief of the XSIS, John Derton (who had signed himself "D"), all future Heads of the Intelligence Service had henceforth been known by the same famous initial. ‘Excuse us for a moment, James,’ ordered Heather parenthetically, dismissing her aide.
Recognising that the matter might involve sensitive information, Lady Gilda motioned for the Director to follow her out of the bustling corridor and into a nearby, unoccupied room. The low drone of noise from the hallway abruptly ceased as the door closed with a dull thud behind them.
‘Well?’
‘Several hours ago, Minister, Xirniumite military surveillance satellites detected a high-energy, unconventional explosion in international waters. The XSIS has confirmed that the weapons test was carried out by the Yallakians, and that it likely relates to Project Defiler,’ explained D smoothly, opening a manila folder with the dark red words “Most Secret – Classified” stamped neatly on its front and showing it to Heather. The file contained high-resolution satellite images of the test and nearby ships in the area, an analysis of relevant electronic transmissions, several maps with explanatory notes and brief intelligence summaries.
‘What do we know of this Project Defiler?’ asked the Foreign Minister as she donned her glasses to skim through the contents of the folder, recalling the mention of it in previous XSIS reports.
‘Nothing… officially, Foreign Minister,’ replied the XSIS Director, smiling wryly.
‘I want the XSIS’s full report of what you do know delivered to my office immediately,’ explained Heather Gilda.
‘Of course.’
‘Do you think that it was a nuclear test?’ asked Heather, her eyes narrowing as she read a graph which described the observed energy output of the blast.
‘Our preliminary analysis and the initial reports of our field operatives suggest otherwise,’ explained the Director simply.
‘Thankyou, D, that will be all,’ added Lady Gilda absentmindedly, indicating that the meeting was over. The XSIS Director nodded respectfully to the Foreign Minister and, with a swish of his long, dark over-coat, turned to leave.

Most honourable Grand Cardinal,
The program to which you refer was part of what has been called Project Defiler, the discovery of anti-matter and the development of a viable weapon with which to employ it. The utmost of secrecy was required during this process, conducted in the Empires primary research facility.
The test that you detected was the final stage of work in Defiler, and as you most likely have observed, its success was monumental. At this moment the weapon has been placed into full production (though this rate will be very slow).
The following are the specification for the weapon used in the very recent test - a small and very fast missile able to be deployed from any Imperial aircraft, ground launcher or naval vessel. Should the High Ecclesiarchy require more information I’m sure we could arrange for it to be made available.

Erkal sat in his office, quietly going through the stack of received transmissions that had built up since the test conducted only a couple of hours ago. Skimming briefly through each file, he moved them one by one from the large wad into a ‘replied to’ pile across the other side of his desk.
Condemnation, condemnation, condemnation. He was growing tired of reading the same incompetence and absurdity of the foreign threats in each letter and began reading less and less of each message.
Condemnation, another condemnation. He paused at the file marked from Xirnium, double-checking he had sent the response off to their request and then turned back to the original pile. Only one left – bet I can guess what this says.
Condem…. ‘Offer of assistance?’, he read out loud. How interesting.

Greetings Lord Kane,
The Infinite Empire sends its thanks for your offer of support against aggressors , but I can assure you that such measures will not be necessary. There are few in this world who pose any threat to the might of the Yallakian Empire and our new weapon only ads to this margin.

Unfortunately, Yallak only undertakes in the exchange of diplomatic buildings with its closest allies – those who have proven their worth and loyalty against the greatest of enemies and challenges.
However, I can oblige you in your other requests and offer you a place as a protectorate of the Infinite Empire of Yallak.

The IYS Summoner was now only a few hundred kilometers from Imperial waters. Standing on the bridge, Marshal Cynath watched patiently from behind as a pair of the carrier’s technicians finished the new modifications to the ships communications relay.
‘The booster uplink is in place, Marshal,’ said the first man, standing up while wiping his face with his sleeve.
‘Well done, gentlemen. You’ve just earned the rest of the day off duty.’
With giant grins, the two men saluted and headed off quickly.
A standard shipboards communications console was capable of broadcasting messages throughout the world via the Imperial network – it could send projected images of the speaker, text or data feeds – but that was not enough for what Cynath had planned. The booster he had ordered to be added would multiple the power output ten fold and allow for multiple connections and massive flow of data.
Sitting down at the device, Cynath turned the power back on, and a growing humming told him that all was working as it should be. With a few pushes of the screen and the odd button, the Air Marshal began broadcasting.
Across the Empire, almost every Imperial satellite would be receiving the new data feed and from there it would be sent to every other nation on the globe that could receive it. We realize that you have created a very powerful weapon. We also realize that you have created the ultimate power source for an effective long distance starship drive. We have a space station. We also just built an asteroid mining tug. This was a tremendous endeavor. We are very interested in using antimatter for a long distance space mission. There are other applications than military for antimatter. Anyone who possesses this will be able to get to mars and the outer planets first. We would help you build a deep space vessel if you give us access to some of your antimatter research.
Emperor Malus was seated wearily in the council chambers. It had been a long night and now he was waiting on a reply from the Yallakians. As he began to doze a sudden beep from the camber's intercom woke him and restored his full state of alertness. Picking up the receiver from the near by phone Malus spoke with authority.
"Speak"
"Sir we have just received a transmission from the Yallakians," the slightly timid voice came softly from the other end of the line.
"Well what are you waiting for send it through." Malus was slightly disturbed by this as all communications staff knew the ungently of the situation.
"Ah sir this is not your standard transmission. It is a worldwide video feed from a Yallakian AWAC. I think you may wish to see this. " The voice on the other end spoke with a bit more confidence.
A worldwide transmission. "I will be right over." Hanging up without waiting for a reply Malus strode quickly to the communications office.
As he entered the entire room stood. "As you were," Malus said coolly. Entering further he noticed that General Dielk was already precent and transfixed by an image on a computer monitor at the far end of the room.
Dielk saw Malus approach and stood offering the seat to him.
"What do we have here General," Malus paid no attention to the images on the screen as he studied the Generals face.
"I think you should see this for yourself Sir." General Dielk was giving nothing away, as his facial expressions remained cold.
Malus sat and looked at the computer screen and was instantly engaged deeply with the images he was witnessing. General Dielk although standing right behind him seemed very distant as he spoke about the test being non-nuclear and supposedly linked to project Defiler.
Managing to rip his attention away from the screen Malus stood the image, however, still played in front of his eyes as if he was having a good dream and did not wish to wake. A broad grin formed across his face. Yallak was going up in the world and Lamehk was going to be right there with it.
Refocussing on the situation Malus turned to find that Dielk now wore a similar sized smile as well.
"Dielk send a message to Yallak and congratulate them on a successful test. Also would you be so kind as to enquire about our scientists they have been gone for quite a while."
"Yes Sir." Dielk immediately sat and began to send a transmission.
Malus left the communications office and headed back the council chambers. Today might not be that bad after all.

Emperor Malus and myself have viewed your latest transmission and have found it most pleasing. We would like congratulate you on what appears to be a very successful weapons test. No explanation is needed as of yet as we are assuming that our scientist will be returned shortly, if there is no further need for them, and that they will bring all the necessary details with them.

This is RP is MT - i have no plans to move anywhere even close to FT. Also just for interest, antimatter is a useless power source because you have to put more power into making it than youd get back from what you created.

The test was quite successful, General, and your country is due much of the credit. Lamehken scientists were instrumental in the successful outcome of the weapons development and you will receive all relating material once the final strings and red tape have been processed.
As for your scientists, they are well, but we were hoping for approval to keep them around a while longer yet. Is this at all possible?

Thankyou for your notification concerning our scientist's achievements and current health, they will be greatly rewarded once they return to Lamehk. As for the timing of their return the scientists are at your disposal until such times as you no longer require them and have been given instructions to work to the best of their ability regardless of task.
We thankyou in giving us the opportunity to withdraw our scientists but would like to use this gesture of renewed commitment to show our support for all current and future scientific endeavours.

From: Dr Heather Gilda
Foreign Minister
The Eternal Republic of Holy Xirnium
Noble High Councillors of the Infinite Empire,
The High Ecclesiarchy thanks the government of the Empire of Yallak for the promptness with which they chose to brief Holy Xirnium regarding the details of Project Defiler. Having realised the nature of your endeavour, allow me to take the opportunity to congratulate the High Council on its monumental scientific breakthrough. No doubt such a weapon will prove invaluable for the protection of the shared interests of our august alliance.
If it is acceptable to the Infinite Empire, we should like to request access to detailed schematics information on the matter-antimatter warhead and the manufacturing techniques used in its production. In exchange, the Eternal Republic would be willing to divulge comparable information regarding the end-product of Project Succubus, a programme whose ultimate goal your government has been made aware of.

Tower of Command, Phoenix City
United Provinces of Feazanthia
The black-armored marine guards stood stoic outside of the Tower of Command, dwarfed by the massive Sabertooth main battle tanks. They saluted, pounding their chests in respect to Vice-Admiral Wilhem as he strode confidently down the concrete walkway. Above the obsidian doors of the ToC sat a golden statue of the Lord Buddha, his hand facing palm-outwards in a sign of peace. It clashed nicely, Wilhem thought, with the heavy tanks that it dwarfed. Beneath the tower, in bunkers that sprawled for dozens of kilometers, sat the primary offices of every branch of the Feazanthian military. And, at the top, was the seat of power in the United Provinces - that of the Grand Commander. The UPF’s elected leader was Torroth Halcyon, son of the hero of the Doujin War and one of the leaders of the refugees that survived the nuclear strike of that war.
The pony tailed man in his early thirties sat meditating in his chambers when the Vice-Admiral stepped in.
“Sir?”
“You brought news of the Yallak tests, didn’t you.”
“Yes, sir. Preliminary reports told us it was a device of nuclear origin. However, the radiation in the area can be attributed only to the dreadnought’s own reactors.”
“So…what is it?”
“Several ideas have been put forward by the spooks,” the term was the common name for those that worked at ONI, the Office of Naval Intelligence. Wilhem placed the manila folder at the Grand Commander’s feet.
Within three hours, what remained of the navy was put on high alert. If Yallak possessed the weapon that ONI thought it did, it posed a threat to the entire United Provinces Defense Force. No matter how many shore guns, missile batteries, or dreadnoughts they deployed, this weapon could destroy them all.

Normally I would find such arrogance as a futile action, however we do not rquire as you so readily say ' a protectorate ' however assitance on a mutual benefit should this ever be deemed necessary would certainly be on the table if and only if an enemy ever became too powerful for eithe rof our nations.
we wish you the continued sucess in your research
