OOC: Not sure if this particular genre has a title or not, I'll call it FMA for Fantasy Middle Ages from now on unless otherwise corrected. Just as an explanation, this is middle ages tech with a twist. Fantasy. Imagine magic and mythological critters rolled up with knights in shining armor and kings and queens.

Crest of Elune (http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/8489/shieldofelune4lm.jpg)
The race of Elune originated to the far distant north. There a race of humans and elves had sprung up since the beginning of time, when the region was still warm. However, over the last millenia their homelands grew barren and frozen, and what had been an empire now dissolved into little more than a city of people seeking refuge from the terrain.
The leadership of Elune finally made the decesion to take the city's inhabitants and sail aboard massive ships south. Many died as years at sea took a toll upon the people, but progressively the weather grew warmer and warmer, until at last the ships, unguided as they were made landfall.
Years passed as the society hacked what they could from the earth and struggled to restablish new civilization upon a rocky and barren northern coast of a new continent.
As time went further forward, the new nation began to grow again, expanding southwards and establishing their capital, New Elune on a plateu seated in among rolling foothills and plains stretching southwards, with mountains backing the north.
New Elune
The capital of Elune is a magnificent citadel city perched atop a large plateu looking out over plains and grassy hills. Flags and pennons flutter in the wind generated by the northern mountains, where it was discovered a race of dwarves made their own home. Working together, the elders of Elune and the dwarven leaders established a friendship, a working bond as stone that had to be transported down out of the mountains to construct the city was cut by the dwarves.
An alliance of sorts, but really just a mingling of peoples. The dwarves had become a part of Elune, freely paying a small tax just like everyone else, but returning with great riches from trade with distant lands and peoples newly discovered.
A thriving city of markets, fountains and a mixture of elven and dwarven architecture. Behind the beauty, scarcly masked by artwork is a city prepared to weather any assault.
Organizations
The Stonecutter Order
The original dwarven guild of builders and craftsmen. The Stonecutters are now a powerful force within Elune, owning enterprises and crafting trades throughout the growing kingdom. The Stonecutters are lead by a small, elected council of members, who make the business and public affairs decisions for the guild.
Artisans
A typically elven and human guild, with a good amount of other races such as dwarves, halflings, gnomes and faefolk. The Artisans were the one guild that survived the original voyage from the homelands. They focus primarily on the design aspect, such as designing parks and bridges, towers and roads, while the Stonecutters do the physical building.
Military
The Elune military is a voluntary service in times of peace, with possible but unlikely conscription during a period of extreme warfare. Military service pays well, and pay grade increases with time spent in service.
The military is open to all races, and physical condition is usually less of a concern. If someone overweight volunteers, the recruiters can probably find something for that person to do. There is a distinct line between combat jobs and support duties. Those in combat roles are required to meet a minimum physical condition, depending on the role.
Army
The bulk of the Elune army consists of men-at-arms infantry, wearing chainmail and carrying either sword and shield, or spear and shield. Infantry are permitted to carry a personal weapon, but whatever shield they use must bear the Elune Crest.
The army has divisions of artillery, cavalry and infantry.
Navy
The Elune military navy are mostly fast cutters for patrol duties and fending off pirates that may crop up. They maintain a small fleet of heavy warships that see little action.
