Cameras pan towards the large redwood semi-circle desk of the Portuguese National News Network. Sitting to the right was a young man, handsome by any standard, straightening the silk tie to his black suit. His eyes were like an Obsidian stone enclosed in an Auburn shell resting on a large white pearl. His hair was cut short, and stood up, like the grass from a freshly cut lawn, and black as a starless night - if ever there was such a thing. He sat there, staring at the camera with a stoic expression, waiting for his cue.

"Hello Portugal, I am Alberto Bastos, Sofia Cruz is off for tonight." he said into the Camera, "Tonight, we have late breaking news from the Government concerning the formation of a Peace Corps, issues relating to the costly war on drugs, and relations to the international community. This and more, after the break."

Alberto turned to the right most camera as the commercials came it, drinking ice-cold water brought over by one of the aides. "Ready mister Alberto?" She asked, getting a friendly nod in return as Alberto finished his drink; the overhead counter signaling he only had seconds left till they were back on the air.

"Welcome back Alberto Bastos reporting..." he paused, turning to face another camera, "The Government seeks to improved Foreign Relations, one of our top stories this evening." Alberto paused, taking in a deep breath as he turned to face one of the cameras to his left, "The Portuguese Government has made an announcement today to all nations near and far, that our doors are now open, if you're a super power, or just a city state, your diplomats are more than welcome to visit our Embassies in Lisbon, the capitol of our fair country." Alberto furrowed his brow as he turned to the camera slightly to the left.

“In other news: President Pius Soares has announced today, the formation of its very own Peace Corps. The purpose of the Portuguese Peace Corps will be the similar to the American Peace Corps founded by American President John F. Kennedy Junior in nineteen sixty-one.” Alberto quickly cleared his throat.

“The Government is also actively petitioning the nation of Spain to sell all one hundred and forty-six of their Patton tanks; it's all apart of the government's recent efforts to reorganize and strengthen the armed forces." Alberto turned sharply to the left towards yet another camera. "In other news, the people of Portugal were shocked from the governments latest announcement to legalize the following substances: Cannabis, LSD, Magic Mushrooms, and Ecstasy, all for reacreational, as well as medical use. The government sent out a statement, following the announcement that says, and I quote, 'It is a well known fact that drug use is often a victimless crime, hurting no one except those using the drug. It was therefore decided that the government’s efforts to stop drug use served no one except the black market thugs who run the black market drug trade, thus actually creating crime instead of preventing it. It is our hope, that by legalizing these drugs for use by our citizens, the black market will be only a shadow of its former self, and our prison over-crowding situation will be a thing of the past, thus protecting our citizens.'"

Alberto took another deep breath before continuing, "Well there you have it, the drugs listed are now legal to use, and even sell and produce with a license. We even have reports that some farmers have begun clearing land once used for growing grain, to start producing cannabis. There has been an outcry of concern by many prohibitionist groups, but the government has dismissed their concerns as ludicrous, and dangerously out of touch with reality."

Alberto turned to the center camera, cocked his head back slightly, and said, "And that is all for us tonight, we at PNNN hope you will join us next time. So long, and good night." The camera pans out slowly as the lights dim, before finally there is nothing but blackness, and the sound of PNNN's theme song resonating in the background.

Secret IC to Portugal:
Australia urges Portugal to keep up the liberal movement! Also Australia, which is in a standoff with Spain, so Portugal should find limited willingness to purchase Spainish arms, however Australia will gladly sell weapons to Portugal.

An encrypted message dispatched to the Australian Government:

We would like to thank the Australian Government for their offer, but regret to inform you that it has been rejected; you are in no more position to sell us arms that is Spain, so your point is moot. We also have seen reports that tells us Australia may not be around for much longer due to its... Antics, and would like now to keep ourselves distant from such things.

Thank you for your time.

Madrid and Lisbon have signed an agreement which would transfer all 146 Spanish M48A5E Patton Main Battle Tanks [with a 105mm rifled, instead of the 90mm]. Each tank would be sold for €1.2 million, meaning the entire purchase would go over for €175.2 million. These Patton tanks would be replaced, in Spain, by an equal number of Leopard 2Es through these three years. Meaning, if the time it takes to reequip the divisions drags on, so will the order to Portugal. However, no complications are expected. Furthermore, Spain has begun the modernization of Portugal's airforce in a €1.6 billion deal to replace all upgraded F-16s [forty total] in the Portugese Air Force with the Spanish variant of the Eurofighter Tifón, over the next four years. Neither country have released information on any other military trades, including ground or naval, neither has Portugal been added to the list of participating countries in the future Spanish MBT program. Nevertheless, this sudden upgrade should come as a major boost to Portuguese military prowess, and proves Iberian unity, completing an alliance between Portugal, Spain, Italy and Iran - although unofficial, it's not doubted that such a union between these four countries exists.

The logo for the Portuguese National News Network flashed on the screen, music meant to excite the listener blares in the background. Alberto Bastos sits alone to the right of the massive redwood desk which viewers had grown accustomed.

"Alberto Bastos here with some late breaking news," He said as he turned to the right, "The Government has announced today a trade embargo of Australia. This comes after the UN resolution on Somalia. The Spanish government responded by sending in its military to oppose the Australians, as well as other countries such as Iran, and Italy. The government has yet to announce the terms for which Australia must comply in order to lift the Embargo."

Alberto turned again to face yet another camera, his stoic expression remained unchanged as he continued, "In other news: The Government has just now announcement major military operations near the Canary islands in support of Spain's ultimatum to Morocco. It is not yet known what exactly has been sent, but the government has put the entire military on high alert."

Alberto turned to face the center most camera, "That is all we here at PNNN have for now, but stay tuned."

The camera pans out slowly as the lights dim, before finally there is nothing but blackness, and the sound of PNNN's theme song resonating in the background.

[ooc: Seeing as Portugal is a member of the WTO, Portugal can't issue a trade embargo for Australia's attack on Djibouti [although it really wasn't an attack; just a big misunderstanding by everyone and everything...]. The only valid reason for any kind of sanction would be in following with the UN resolution on Somalia [and Brazil, Venezuela, among others...].]

[ooc: I was echoing your statement, albeit without knowing you had written it...there was no formal statement by Portugal that they would act on this, and even if they did, they would be acting outside the boundaries of the WTO, which only allows trade embargos under UN endorsement of economic sanctions...the only REAL reason that Portugal can embargo is in conjunction with the UN resolution on Somalia...again, the only REAL reason that Portugal can do the embargo is in conjunction with the UN resolution on Somalia, and to do that, he should honestly post it on the UN thread and then here...]

OOC: We read it, we were disgusted by it, as was most of the world since well,t here was a resolution in the UN concerning it. Also there is your more recent attempt at Dijouti or however you spell it, and trying to Spain with your invented military.

It is not known just how much it will cost to develop this system, but reports say that it should take at least three years." OOC:How can my military be 'invented'? I barely have more then the current forces now that are actually good, my shipyards are JUST starting to work! We DO have those frigates and missile frigates and the 5 submarines. BTW a missile takes more then 3 years to develope. >.>

[OOC: Most of the technology is already existant on the missile. The missile doesn't aim to introduce some technology that's better than the rest of the world's - it will most likely base itself largely off Russian examples. However, there will be one difference that will remain secret - but Spain has already had much RL research on the matter, especially in cooperation with Germany - in its UAVs. The missile will probably begin production in all three countries by 2015 - in low numbers. By 2017 in large numbers.]

Argentina wishes too improve political relationships with Portugal, and ask if we could have an Embassy building built. Also we support the allowence of those drugs, as they do not do harm to others, only to the one using them, and may establish a policy like that in the future.
