Wilhelmsborough's Massive Military Reorganization Thread

In his time as ruler of Wilhelmsborough, Prince William had seen his nation grow by leaps and bonds, especially in terms of military defense. High defense budgets had allowed for the purchase of some very expensive weaponry. Population growth had also meant that people entering the military would continue to grow.

But there was a problem. Although these soldiers and military assets of the country were many, they were also completely unorganized. There was no structure, no order. There was no distinction between who was in charge of the army, the air force, or the navy. In short, the military of the Principality was a swollen disorganized bureaucracy.

But that was about to change. Prince William, working with General Sherman, had been doing a great deal of research into military organization and heirarchy. They had finally come up with a plan.

That plan would go something like this:

The Military would be divided into three branches:

The Army (Wilhelmsborough Imperial Army (W.I.A.))
The Navy (Wilhelmsborough Imperial Navy (W.I.N.))
and The Air Force (Wilhelmsborough Royal Air Force (W.R.A.F.))

The number of servicemen in the military would be divided into a fixed percentage for all three branches. The Army would get 40% of all servicemen, while the Navy and the Air Force each got 30% of the service men. No matter how high the population rose, these precentages would remain for the distribution of new recruts.

The next important matter regarded the setting of a hierachy of authority throughout all three branches.

For the Army, this heirarchy would be:

Private 3rd Class
Private 1st Class
Lance Corporal
Corporal
Segeant
2nd Lieutenant
1st Lieutenant
Captain
Major
Lieutenant Colonial
Colonial
Brigadier General *
Major General **
Lieutenant General ***
General ****
Field Marshall
General of the Army

After some consideration, Prince William decided to name Nicolai Trotsky as General of the Army.

The Navy Hierarchy would go:

Seaman
Petty Officer
Ensign
Lieutenant, Junior Grade
Lieutenant
Lieutenant Commander
Commander
Captain
Commodore
Rear Admiral
Vice Admiral
Admiral
Fleet Admiral
Admiral of the Navy

Prince William designated Vittorio Augustine as Admiral of the Navy.

Finally, there was the Air Force Hierarchy:

Airman
Sergeant
Master Sergeant
2nd Lieutenant
1st Lieutenant
Captain
Major
Lieutenant Colonial
Colonial
Brigadier General *
Major General **
Lieutenant General ***
General ****
General of the Air Force

For the Position of General of the Airforce, the Prince appointed General Salazar T. Sherman, who also continue to serve as the Minister of Defense.

And of course, at the top of the hierarchy, was the Commander-In-Chief himself, Prince William Kennedy. He alone would have authority over everyone.

The next matter of business for the military restructuring involved defining troop units, their numbers, and the leaders for each unit. William and Salazar came up with the following organization:

Unit/ Numbers/Leader
Fireteam / 5 / Lance Corporal
Squad / 10 (2 Fireteams) / Corporal
Section / 20 (2 Squads) / Sergeant
Platoon / 40 (2 Sections) / 1st or 2nd Lieutenant
Company / 1 20 (3 Platoons) / Captain or Major
Battalion / 600 (5 Companies) / Lieutenant Colonial
Regiment / 2,400 (4 Battalions) / Colonial
Brigade / 4,800 (2 Regiments) / Brigadier General
Division / 14,400 (3 Brigades) / Major General
Corps / 28,000 (2 Divisions) / Lieutentant General
Army / 115,000 (4 Corps) / General
Army Group / 576,000 (5 Armies) / Field Marshal
Theatre / Everybody! / General of the Army

The Air Force organization was much less complicated.

12 Aircraft=1 Squadron
6 Squadrons=1 Wing (72 Aircraft)

It was decided that there would be no unit structure for the Naval vessels. Craft would simply be put together and deployed for whatever mission they were required.

Finally, the time had come to address the purchase of Naval Vessels and Combat Airships. They needed names and they needed organization.

All ships, Navy or Airforce, would begin with the initials T.P.S. which stood for "The Principality Ship."

The twelve Trojan II Class Rigid Airborne Aircraft Carriers and the thirty-six Mako-Class Combat Airships would all be divided into four groups known as Air Fleets. A single Air Fleet would consist of three Trojan II's and nine Mako's.

The 1st Air Fleet would be led by General Francis Rossini

Trojan II's:
Hammersmith (Flagship)
Clausewitz
Passendale

Mako's:
John Brown
Biafra
Waterloo
Andropov
Valley Forge
Normandy
King Fisher
Wilhelm

The 2nd Air Fleet would be led by General Miles Donnovich.

Trojan II's:
Donningham (Flagship)
Howitzer
Windham

Mako's:
Great Wind
Sojourn
Dunwich
Arkham
Yalta

Trojan II's:

Commonwealth
Heathrow

Mako's
Sevastopol

The Navy had very few ships. As such, it only had on fleet to speak of.

The 1st Fleet was to be led by Fleet Admiral Ernest Halsey.

Finally the military reorganization was finished, and Prince William reflected on his work with pride. Things would definately be easier, now that everything was neatly organized.

Nice forces, to ensure secrecy of Sol Giuldor, we of course, do not make public post about our military strength. I can tell you that 250 fighting monks is nothing to laugh at though.

What do they do? Pray for mercy for the fact that you're terribly godmoding? I can tell you, Sol Giuldor has a total population of 1.043 billion. An unwritten rule is that you shouldn't have more than 5% in the army. Now, my dear Sol Giuldor, That's the problem. You have 25% "Elite" Soldiers/Monks/Whatever. That can't be. It just is impossible. Your nation would:

1. Not be able to support all those in logistics
2. Your economy would suffer tremendously, and your population wouldn't earn more than a 6-year old in average pocket money, as all money goes to your soldiers and their equipment.

Please, stop Godmoding and make a realistic army.

Some time had passed since the last Military Reorganization. Now it was time to make an update.

Wilhelmsborough now had a new Air Fleet.

Unlike the previous Air Fleets, this one would be composed entirely out of Trojan II Class Rigid Airborne Aircraft Carriers. It would be referred to as the Zodiac Fleet.

The 5th Air Fleet would be led by General James Miller.

Trojan II's:
Aries (Flagship)
Taurus
Gemini
Cancer
Leo
Virgo
Libra
Scorpio
Saggitarius
Capricorn
Aquarius
Pisces

-----------------------------------

Also, the Navy now had a second fleet

The 2nd Fleet would be led by Fleet Admiral Jacob Nields.

Unfortunately, none of the ships had names yet.

Nimitz Carriers: 3

Finally, the first four Air Fleets of the Airforce would now each be assigned 15 Hyperion-Class Rigid Airships. This would now be the new standard for a typical Air Fleet:

3 Trojan II Class Rigid Airborne Aircraft Carriers
9 Mako Class Airships
15 Hyperion Class Rigid Airships

Unfortunately, none of the Hyperion airships had a name yet.

The new fleets looked like this:

The 1st Air Fleet would be led by General Francis Rossini

Prince William frowned. It irritated him that he had to announch the new arrivals of these ships and aircraft and not even have a name to stick on them. Hopefully he would have names soon.

The Principality had recently purchased 160 Spartan Fleet Defense Blimps. They were to be distributed equally throughout the first four Air Fleets.

As of now, the standard Air Fleet would consist of:

3 Trojan II Class Airborne Aircraft Carriers
9 Mako Class Airship Bombers
15 Hyperion Class Rigid Airships
40 Spartan Fleet Defense Blimps

Eighty of said ships were sent out to join the 2nd and 4nd Fleets which had just been deployed.
