Mooshland begins movie censorship

Mooshland

Hot off the press:
Today in the great nation of Mooshland, the government began a new policy against certain content in movies. Certain terrorism-glorifying movies were publicly destroyed today, with harsh punishments, including long prison time or deportion, for anyone showing such movies in public. The writers and directors of such movies have been, and will continue to be, deported. The Director of National Security, Alanoon Merrysworth, stated "We have had too many of these horrible movies plauging our nation for far too long, and I am glad to be the one to put a stop to them." The governement has stated that while it is against censorship, there has to be a line somewhere, and such tasteless productions have no place in our society.

King William, on behalf of Deltara, has today condemned such acts.

"Movies are works of art. To deprive someone of it is a clear breach of civil liberties, and I look down on such things."

When questioned later he said that "I will not go any further, it is just not right."

He made it clear he will not take action but dislikes such acts.

Response by West Corinthia

You should be applauded for taking control from those terrorist-loving anarchists. But go a step further. You should begin using movies to spread your own messages and ideas. Some may call it propoganda, but you're the government and people have to listen to what you say. That's what I call absolute power.

Franberry applauds you in the destruction of this terrorist-backed lunatics. The public, especially children, should not be exposed to that kind of extremist propaganda.

-Minnechusettsfornian Government-

We oppose the Mooshlandian governments decision to reduce their peoples freedom of expression. We would understand removal of actual recruiting videos, however attempting to draw a specific 'line' on merely offensive material like this can do no good, particularly on such a blurred issue that can be so easily twisted.

Mooshland has started down a road few free nations start down, and their people should know that when they continue down that road banning other forms of speech and expression, our borders are open to them.

"Although normally an act of censorship to this extreme would be deemed not appropos by us, the glorification of terrorism does not help the nations of the world fight terrorism. Therefore, Holy Paradise fully applauds and supports your wise actions."

"That is a step which no free-loving nation should take. It is ignorant, arrogant, and self-aggrandizing. It leads to the banning of all freedom and the establishment of the state as the only religion allowed."

OFFICAL STATEMENT:

Motion Picture Association of Kanami (MPA)

The Writers Directors and Screen Actors Guild of Kanami (DAG WGK SAG)

Board of Film and Television Certification and Ratings (BFTCR)

And the Civil Liberites Union

While many of us in the Guilds and industry want to respect and see all movies as works of art, and belive the right to creative expression should not be infiringed upon, we do look on with some understanding. No one, especially in our industry wants to golorify Anarchy, Terrorism, and other breakdowns of civil soceity, and we understand your right to make sure of that. Though we issue words of caution, do not start witch hunts or better known as "McCarthyism." The last thing any actor, driector, or studio wants, is to be blacklisted, or the be told on what film to make by the Government.

Sincerly,

While we frown on Censorship, this is understandable, and upon hearing of Soviet Arms Dealers comments, we are censoring ALL information that is coming from that country and there is now a Travel ban on citizens of our nation from going to Soviet Arms Dealers. We will not allow our people to be brainwashed. -Lone Alliance

Hello, Mooshland,
We will gladly accept your movie producers and directors who are being expelled. We realize that censorship is an internal issue, however we do not have a movie industry of our own. We are not interested in the "terrorist" individuals but the actors, directors, and producers who are producing entertainment for the masses. We have a School for New Media and Political Studies at Beauty Arcology and we wish to take some of the better known producers as teachers. We will even give them tickets to fly to our country.

Regards,

Amara Cruon, Trade Minister to the Commonalitarianism
