The Conservative United States of Holy Paradise: A history, a legend

The Government: Holy Paradise is run by a federal and branched government, based mainly of the Real-life nation of the United States of America. There are 3 branches in the Holy Paradisian government:

1. The Executive Branch: The most known branch, the executive branch is headed by the President, who serves for 4-year terms, no term limits, is backed up by the Vice President, and is the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief, Head Diplomat, and Head of Government, along with various other positions (We only listed the main ones). The current president is John Holtz, who began serving in 2004(Has served for 20 years in NS time), and the vice president. The executive branch's most important job, however, is the final passing or the veto of bills proposed by the Legislative branch. Vetoes can be overturned by the Legislative branch, which shall be explained later. If a bill is vetoed and the Legislative branch does not over the veto, the bill is killed. If a bill is passed, the Judicial Branch can determine whether or not the bill is legal under the Holy Paradisian constitution. As you can see, the government is based of the USA's a lot.

To contact President John Holtz you can either send mail to him(Holy Paradise Executive House, Presidential Mansion, Holy Paradise City, Holy Paradise (State), 1000 Holy Paradise Avenue, Zip Code: 72791) email him at presidentholtz@holyparadise.gov, or call him at 532-682-9999.

2. The Legislative Branch: The lawmaking branch, the Legislative branch's main job is to propose and pass laws based on what seems best for the nation. They also have the ability to declare war or peace, amend the constitution, override the President's veto, and impeach the President, along with various other obligations. There are two houses of the Legislative Branch: The Senate House and the Representative House. Each house is headed by one man/woman; there are no minority leaders or majority leaders. The leader of the Senate House is William Harrington, while the leader of the Representative House is Paul Branson. The Senate House is comprised of 60 members currently, 5 from each state, (There are 12 states in all). The Representative House is comprised of 140 members currently, the number of representatives varies by state population.

3. Judicial Branch: The Judicial branch's job is to punish criminals, settle lawsuits, and, most importantly, determine the legality of a passed bill. The head of the branch is the Supreme Judicial House, and it is headed by Chief Justice Mark Sivolak. The only way a bill ruled unconstitutional can be put into place is if the Legislature passes an amendment to the Constitution allowing it.

The climate: Holy Paradise has a climate ranging from temperate to cold to marine. Be prepared for anything in this beautiful yet unpredicatable country.

The geography: Holy Paradise is a backwards "C" shaped island nation. Holy Paradise City is located in the middle of the "C", while Darumba is located in the mid-bottom. Mountains surround Holy Paradise City except for the ocean. To the north there is the Moth Forest, named such because of its moth-like shape when seen from space. To the south there are a number of islands, ranging in size. Lakes dot area the south and the northeast of Holy Paradise. The area is overall very amicable, however, and anyone on Nationstates could easily get used to it.

A Brief History of Holy Paradise:

The First Inhabitants
Millions of years before the first colonists came, the land was ruled by human-like angels. They worshipped many gods and one divided them. The god's name was Garshinana. Worshippers of Garshinana offered him 10 human sacrifices a day. Non-worshippers believed this was barbaric and war broke out between the two groups. Before the war, there were 350,000,000 of these angels. The war lasted for about 1,500 years. After the war, only 15,000 remained. After 1,000s of years, the angels became what they are now. The land was devoid of civilization for 10,000,000 years, until colonists stepped onto the site where Holy Paradise City now is.

The Rise of a Nation
10,000,000 years passed after the last of the human-like angels devolved before a dominant species would again rule the land. Between this time, not very many things happened. After 10,000,000 years of the country showing no civilization what so ever, colonists from countries around the world began searching for a new home. One group of colonists from the dissolved country of Johnmercia(which happened to be ruled by one of President John Holtz's ancestors) sailed into a bay looking for a place to call home. They kept sailing unknowing into the bay, still thinking they were in open waters. The colonists were led by the old leader of Johnmerica, Emperor John H. On a warm morning on July 27, 1265 A.D., the word,"Land!" resounded from the top of a mast. The colonists rushed to the rowboats and sailed inward towards the shore. When they reached land, they began right away building a city. One of them was reported to say, "This land is truly a holy paradise." They all agreed that would be a good name for their land, and they became the first citizens of Holy Paradise right after they made the H.P. constitution.

The Country Gains an Ally:
Hundreds of years passed when President John H. came into power. He is still in power today. Not long after he was elected, Roach-Busters, who wasn't allied with HP yet, was taken over by a ruthless dictator. President John sent in troops and turned the tide favorably to RB's leader, President J.L. The war ended when the HP army obliterated the dictator's army and the dictator was arrested.HP and RB became great allies that day. Later, the former dictator escaped with the help of the greatest traitor in RBs history, who was also President J.L.'s best childhood friend. Skirmishes between the former dictator's terrorist group, the Red Dragons, and RB and its allies. After a while the Red Dragons divided into 5 groups, and soon a hitman from Doomingsland killed the former dictator. However the peace was to be short-lived.

The Civil War
Not long after the death of Insane, the former dictator of RB, a new threat rised in the southern Holy Paradise. A Communist multi-billionare, Darumbof Teridof, gained support from the people of the region, and after a terrorist attack on the Congressional House in Holy Paradise City executed by Teridof, the south annouced it was seceding from the north. The country was split into the Conservative United States of Holy Paradise and the Communist Empire of South Holy Paradise. A civil war erupted and in the end SHP surrendered not long after Teridof was killed by a Doomingsland missle about 11 months after the war started.(You can see where major battles of the Civil War happened on the map.) The country was reunited and is now facing no problems.

Recent Times
Holy Paradise has recently joined the World Anti-Communist League and continues to have a role in world affairs.

Misc:

To minorities: Holy Paradise is a racially tolerant nation, all are welcome. Reports of racism are rare if not nonexistent.
