Israeli News Network:

"Today, a shcok ripped through the Middle Eastern world. Lebanon President Emile Lahoud was found dead in his shower early this morning. It seems that the assasin's knife has struck once more in this deadly country... and it has created a worldwide ripple.

Because of this shock, the country has fallen into a state of near Anarchy. Lebanese people are calling for war against Syria and Israel. They have claimed the Shebaa Farms, and in a quick move the Lebanese military moved in with the support of the people and took this piece of land.

In the attack, 330 Israeli soldiers were killed, and over a thousand more were wounded. The soldiers have pulled out of the farm for now, but as Israeli President Moshe Katsav states, 'We will not remain idle while our soldiers are killed for long.'

It is expected that the Israelis will petition the UN to deal with Lebanon as soon as possible, as the President claimed that, "We do not wish to have to re-occupy Lebanon like we did in the late 70's and early 80's."

France is willing to support the Israeli proposal to restore order to Lebanon, as this conflict has the potential to deteriorate into a serious reversal of the Middle East peace. The Lebanese government needs to stablize the region and reject militaristic ambitions. Otherwise, any proposal in the UNSC to enforce peace and order in Lebanon will have to be supported by France.

Israeli Government Release:

Today the Israeli army swept through Southern Lebanon...

Scattered fighting erupted the entire time.

Both the Golani Infantry and Barak Armored Brigades took part in the attack, and it was a swift move supported by light bombing and fighter support.

The troops first made for Shebaa Farms and took that back, facing heavy resistance in this area. After a 3 hour firefight, the Lebanese fell back and Israeli forces were able to occupy the farms.

The army continued to sweep north into Southern Lebanon, and continued to march until they reached the Jezzine district. Along the way, many freedom fighters and civilians in the Anarchial country attacked the Israeli soldiers, but were easily repulsed with little loss.

The troops are schedule to push onward to Beruit after a brief rest in Jezzine. They intend to hold Lebanon until peace can be established by the UN.

From Lebanese Military attacks: 87 killed, 175 wounded, two Sabra tanks lost from rocket shots.

Press Release:

The two brigades continued to sweep northward, and finally reached beruit. After heavy fighting and many losses, the Israeli brigades were able to take the capital, and they enforced a curfew for the night.

Within the cities and towns, martial law is being enforced to keep the anarchy to a minimum.

All remnants of the Lebanese army have been pushed northward, and they are believed to be hiding mostly within the Baalbek district.

The Israeli forces control everything from the south all the way up to the Baabda and Zahle districts, and most of the important territory is under Israeli control.

As soon as the country is totally under Israeli control, Israel will petition the UN to help deal with their crisis.

From Lebanese Military attacks: 141 killed, 231 wounded, one Sabra tank lost from rocket shots, 1 Sabra lost to a road mine.

OOC: Semi... Israel is taking a country in Anarchy to avoid being attacked ourselves, and at the same time avoid them killing each other.

They attacked us... so we attacked back... with humanitarian goals in mind. As soon as we have it udner control, we will hand the country over to the UN to keep peace.

[ooc: as with any kind of attack or whatever, it's best to get the UN involved ASAP - for legitimacy and fewer headaches...we need a Syria involved in this...]

OOC: You can Syria as a NPC if you want.

We will be getting the UN involved ASAP, but we also cannot sit idle while we are being attacked... thus, we have taken the liberty of defending our rears with a good offense.

[ooc: respectable, except that military seizure without any UN involvement whatsoever is a bit stretching the limits...if you really need a resolution, draft one and get people to vote on it... :)]

[OOC: Israel has always had a policy of act now, ask later, especially when it comes to war. It seems they like to hit hard, kill as much as they can, and then listen to the UN and the West. :) But, no doubt Syria would have attempted to intervene - and in Lebanon, Syrians have an advantage; they know the terrain a lot better. In the 1980s Syrian and Israeli choppers were more or less up to par with each other. Nevertheless, Israel has its own advantage - which I think is better; its generals have a tendency to improvise, meaning the IDF is more capable of responding to a new threat than the rest of the Middle East is!]

OOC- pardon my language, but their is no way in hell Israel could take Beruit in a single day. The number of angry Muslims(Pop of the city is 4.2 million i belive), along with extreamist finally settling down, stored weapons, Israel would take grevious losses, and would become bogged down nearly instantly. The pure magnitude to taking the city, with neverless a two brigade's, would be virutally impossible. Syria would be in the city the second you reach it's outskirts, and most of the Angry extreamists would already be setting up.
