Nova Bazalonia Announces it's prescence to the Galaxy (FT; Open)

Nova Bazalonia
11-03-2006, 03:41
The NBS Terra Nova was in a flurry of activity. The Hyperwave equiped probes where built and they where nearly ready to launch as final preperations where underway. This was a momentous occasion this was not their first contact with other inhabitants of the Galaxy but it was their first time that they put themselves out there.

There where a total of 5 probes each where to be sent to the 4 quadrants of the galaxy as well as to the centre of the Milky way. Each probe had hard-coded into their circuitry the co-ordinates for Nova. Everything that was sent to the probe was securely hyperwaved back to the communications sattelite in Geosynched orbit around Nova.

Once the probe was sent and activated any ship that attempted to get too close would be automatically warned and if they continued coming the Probe would self-destruct destroying the co-ordinates of Nova with it.

The Probes where finally ready to be sent of on the way a small hyperspatial window was opened and the probes where sent through, each had their own hyperspatial window to a different location. Once they arrived they would wait for an activation signal, if the signal did not reach the probe within a specified time frame the probe would self destruct.

However that feature was not needed as the activation code was received by all 5 well within the time frame. Once activated the following message was broadcast openly and with no security in place.
The is a pre-recorded message from the Office of Prime Minister from Nova Bazalonia

Greetings, our neighbours in the stars. We, the people of Nova Bazalonia, have made a new home for ourselves with the help of our Allies. We have been keeping ourselves in isolation for security reasons but have now decided to start relations with the many others that are out there. All messages are to be sent to the communications hub that you are receiving this message from. This will encode your message and make sure it is sent to the right place. Though a warning, these hubs will self-destruct if anyone gets too close.

Thank you, and we are awaiting your replies.

[OOC: this is about another 15 years after the events of the 'What on Nova?!' closed RP... actually scrub that, the event of What on Nove have not occured... You'll know why when the RPs finished

A single, solitary Dominion corvette cruised through local space in the Pyn'Gari sector, on light duty patrol, as no active threats emerged outside of the Finasian Sector Rebellion. The probe was easily detected by the advanced sensor nodes of the light corvette, and a quick message was dispatched by comm, as a message alerting of the probe's presence was sent back to Amazonian HQ. The message from the Dominion corvette read as follows:

We of the Dominion of Amazonian Beasts welcome you, Nova Bazalonia, to the Intergalactic community. Though we are probaly thousands of light-years apart, we in the Dominion would like to learn more about your culture and establish relations.

The real motives of the Dominion were secular in nature, but the message sounded innocent enough.

12-03-2006, 05:04
The message from the Dominion of Amazonian Beasts was encrypted, scrambled, routed and re-routed between the probes and finally sent to the geo-synchronous sattelite in orbit around Nova. The message was de-scrambled and de-coded and sent to the Personal Device of the current Prime Minister, Cannack Heims. Who took the reins of office after Randall stepped down.

The following reply was formulated and sent via the probe to the Corvette

We would be glad to initiate a cultural and foreign relations exchange between our two peoples. We would like to do so however on neutral ground, perhaps on an Embassy planet?

This was the first of many interactions that Cannack was hoping to initiate as a result of the probes.

A routine scout patrol group (1 Imperial Star Destroyer , 2 Interdictor Cruisers , 4 Carrack Class Light Cruisers and 4 Nebulon-B Frigates) dropped out of hyperspace and were about to change jump coordinates when the radar master picked up a object through the radar .

Captain Samuel ordered a tractor beam lock on the object and pulled it in . Upon closer inspection , it was noticed as a probe droid and they read its message . Captain Samuel forwarded the message to the Dictatorial Office .

The Office in turn viewed the message and replied to Nova Bazalonia :

We are interested to know more about your nation and possibly have ties . Please respond .

A neutral world was choosen, nearby the Probe. The Diplomats dialled the Stargate number and arrived before the following message was sent.
The corvette transmitted back to the probe:

We are sending a team, they are on their way.

Meanwhile, two Resonance Cruisers were heading out to rendevous at the world, pulling into hyperspace for the short hop. The planet wasn't far, and the ships reached nearby space in twenty minutes, searching for other craft to indicate others.

The Sephiroph message was received, and a diplomatic team (OOC: I probably should have mentioned this before, but there is a small force of around 12 military people with them) was sent via stargate to the neutral world.

............................

The Mationbuds message was received by the probe and forwarded it using the usual dance back to Nova.

The following reply was sent

Greetings, So do we wish to know and have ties with you. Here are the co-ordinates for a neutral world where we can meet to discuss things

and once again a diplomatic team was sent to the meeting place.

..............................

No craft where detected by the Amazonian sensors (OOC: As there where none) but their sensors picked up an abnormally large power spike on an un-inhabited planet. (OOC: Stargate)

(OOC: Amazonian Beasts... Nova!!!! that;s my home planet's name but I am keeping it's location secret... maybe I'm even going to keep it's name secret.... who knows)

The Imperial Star Destroyer picked up the message through the probe droid and forwarded it via secure government holo-net . A few hours later , a diplomatic team was summoned to go and talk with the Nova Bazalonians . The Imperial Star Destroyer replied via the droid :

Our government , in the absence of our Dictator , who is leading our army at war has sent a diplomatic team to the Neutral Planet . We wish the meeting sucess .

**At 2 AM International Time**

At Mationbud Orbital Base :
1 Lambada Class Shuttle escorted by 2 X-Wings and 2 B-Wings set off from the orbital base carrying 1 Ambassador , 2 Diplomatic Reps , 1 Rep from the Dictatorial Office , 4 Black Guards and 6 Vanguard Troops to the Neutral Planet .

3 hours later , after an uneventful hyperspace jump , the diplomatic team arrived at the planet and landed to meet the Nova bazalonians .

IC: The power spike reading picked up by the cruisers's sensors, out of the first Resonance emerged a Typhoon assault shuttle, escorted by two droid pursuers. The shuttle rocketed down to planet side, the droids flying off back to the capital ships. A boarding ramp lowered from the shuttle, and a single dark figure, escorted by six Saber droids, walked off of the ship.

Kaptain Hergiv was a sterling example of the fighting army of the Xenonian military. He simply lurched around his capital ship, "fleet 7" performing calculations and speaking to his newly berothed, Kenta in quiet messages over the Xenonian neuralink communications network (despite sitting right next to her in the frigate). If an observer had a few functional brain cells, they would realise it was small talk, incessant chatter, the usual "how goes it, sorry, I'm away conducting a genocidal war against a foe who has attempted to destroy us for our temporal mechanics research, and that dimenisonal tech we've been developing too. It's good to see we'll spend some time together, maybe we'll even kill a particularly fearsome foe like on our "first date""

You know, normal soldier things.

Sadly, those had run dry in the past 30 or so years. Xenoinier was not a territorial empire, no, it was not even an empire. Xenonier was a protectorate, and a rather small one at that. after having wiped every foe they had faced off the map, and establishing strong ties to the ESUS, there really wasn't a lot to do.

Thus it was the fleetship7, a vessel that could annihilate entire fleets of lesser opponents, a lyncpin in Xenonian orbital defences, was sitting back home, doing nothing at all but the routine training. It had arrived in the vinicity of the transmission for a few seconds, dispatched Hergiv in a frigate, and left (as per his orders, and the agreement of the entire protectorate, gotta love then neuralink mandate eh?). Afte all, it's hardly diplomatic tact to show up with enough force to slag an entire system, and everything on it without so much as breaking a sweat, even if you aren't an openly hostile species. In truth, Xenonier could have controlled a massive swathe of their galaxy, should they want it. But conquering and rampaging and looting looses it's relevance in such an advanced society. Getting out and seeing other, more primitive societies provided that kick, as well as helping them and becoming their allies. Or slagging their enemies.

Thus it was that Kenta and Hergiv, lovers all, were sent to perform diplomatic works for the Xenonian protectorate. Fleet7 would wait, watch and if nessecary, play table tennis. Or perhaps check up on the outposts that had collected the message in the first place, fortify them with extra firepower, hunt and play "ball" with the locate wildlife, so on.

Not like they had anything better to occupy their time.

And so the vessell carried foward, and waited for acknowledgement, after sending their greeting message.

Okay, so we happen to be here, I being Kaptain Hergiv of the Xenonian Protectorate. Care to stop playing chicken and meet us on open terms? Not to remain highly skeptical of things, but you'll never manage to ...

*static, sounds of a scuffle before the message returns to normal focus*

Ahem, excuse my fiancee there, this needed to be done with a little tact. Greetings .... peoples. My name is Ambassador Kenta Renovo, of the Xenonian Protectorate. And we are here because you caught our intrest. We'll proceed with the minor details right away"

IC Xenonier:

When the message was received it caused Commander Hawdon to break out in laughter.... once he calmed down he composed the following response and sent it back to Xenonier.

Dear Captain and Ambassador of the Xenonian Protectorate. First I woulkd like to extend my personal well-wishing, being Military Commander James Hawdon of the People of Nova Bazalonia, to both of you. Attached are co-ordinates where you will find a diplomatic delegation. It is on a neutral world and the delegation is on the ground. Just look for a big power spike. Unfortunately I have business that I have to attend to and will not be apart of this delegation.

Cowen thought nothing of the Sephrion comment and that's what he told him.

"Think nothing of it, of it. So let's get down to business. I'll start by giving you a brief history..."

Cowen started at the point where they found their first FTL drive in the wreckage of a crashed spaceshp and developed their own engine from what they had managed to learn from it. Then onto the discovery that their sun was going to Nova, so in an attempt to save as many people as possible they constructed the BSFS Hawdon, a colony ship that would take them to a new planet. However they launched with never finding a suitable planet. However due to the rushed nature of the launch a bolt in the FTL engine cam loose and landed the Hawdon in the middle of a fire-fight between 2 unknown forces. Who later where found out to be Seaquest and a very hostile group known as the Macronesian alliance. With help from Seaquest and their Tidani allies we found a planet to colonise and here we are.

OOC: Everyone I won't retype this but I will make a note to everyone when appropriate.

Amusement was likely to be reflected on both sides in this deal. Risking a glance over her back at the still sputtering form of her lover, as he attempted to regain a certain measure of physical ability to stand (and pride) Kenta could afford to stroke her prehensile tail, ears and hair back, presumably to make herself appear presentable. The assumption that the people they would meet would be familar with anthromorphs was a foolish one. With that in mind, her clothes were fairly casual, the usual white upon black, with blue insignia that passed for the "standard" xenonian clothing.

The sensors indentified the meeting location within seconds, and the responsivity of the craft allowed the ship to be there within mere moments. Sensing hergiv was arming himself with an all manner of hidden weaponry, she allowed herself to briefly focus an element of her personality on warfare, summoning base instincts that had given her the strength to act as both an assertive diplomat, and a stalwart fighter.

As the ship landed near the "energy spike", or rather as far as logic would allow one too, Kenta slipped the pair of bladed tonfa into clasps around the gloves of her hands, before preparing to take the first step onto the ground ...

"Well dear, It appears we've ..."

She had only time to mutter that before Hergiv shoulder charged her into a convient wall of rock in the landscape. Even as she flew through the air, her eyes and the Neuralinks made sure his message got acros.

"Now that's settled, shall we dance in some grotesque form of diplomacy you spend half your life correcting, my dear?"

Hergiv's lack of any real diplomatic patience could only make her wince.

Naturally, she managed to gather herself to land on the rock (despite being hurled at it with speeds that would crush a human) in a very catlike motion. allowed herself to half-scramble, half-controlled-fall down the surface. Rather than making a remark, she accepted the rebuke (knowing she stood little chance against Hergiv in a straight fight) and carried on fowards.

"ah, yes Sorry, Economic, Military and embassy ties. Military ties... we'd be happy to enter into a mutual defensive pack, though we will need to have some time for formalities. Embassies are not currently a possibility for us. But we would be happy to set up a permanent communication line between us. As to trade well... I'm sure we could organise some sort trading station on a neutral planet, such as this."

IC Xenonier:
Commander Hawdon had pushed for a lowly diplomat someone that would have never been given the position apart from the fact that Hawdon thought he would be perfect... a sort of tactless Diplomat... even though that would be an oxymoron. The Diplomats name was Nate Trantor.

Despite the prescence of the meeting party being known to them from a significant distance away, neither Kenta nor Hergiv found any reason to hurry. Noting Hergiv had already summarised the positons of the guards, and how best to avoid, or resolve a military situation (should this come to that), Kenta was ore able to focus on what she would say. Arriving there, she moved towards the one who had both the pose, and the body language of a diplomat, her status as something humans might call a "cat-furry" shown of for all to see. Cat ears, fur, claws, so on.

The surprise it brang to many races meant it's use as diplomatic weapon could not be underestimated. Taking a set while Hergiv did the same, she began business.

"Well, we are here, as suggested. As you've guessed, I am the Senior Xenonian Ambassador for the protectorate, and this .. is Kaptain Hergiv. What topic would you find it appropriate, or englightening to begin with about the Xenonian Protectorate? I assure you, any and all questions can be answered by my knowledge, right here. It's all in my head, or every Xenonians head..."

With that, Hergiv continued.

"yes, what she's saying is weird, I live with her, I know this. Either way, it is said everything a Xenonian says has some sort of purpose. That covered, we are not authorised to pass any decisions whatsoever without a full disclosure to Xenonian parliament, or rather, to the full acknowledgement and debate of every member of the several billion strong protectorate. You may find it hard to believe we can acess their opinions right now , so asto pass anything we agree upon here, but I assure you ... we can."

With those somewhat ambigious comments made, Kenta allowed herself a drink, while Hergiv continued to stare at the bodyguards behind them. THe strangest thing was none of them sounded remotely like a boast, rather a mere statement that was of no concern. Such was the Xenonian way.
Nova Bazalonia

"So let's see if I have got this right. you don't have the authority of yourself to agree or arrange to anything but through some sort of hive-mind are able to relay our proposals to everyone and receive their opinion on them. And as such you also have unlimited access to all information stored collectively. This also means that you can give answers that bear the full backing of your nation and not just a specific leader or representative." NAte paused as he caught his breath.

"I suppose you could start by giving me an overview of your history. Oh, and I hear that you are engaged, congratulations." he suggested.
Xenonier
24-03-2006, 12:00
Xenonians have eons to prepare at their jobs, so despite the bold statement by such a fresh diplomat, that would have caught a lesser negotiator off guard, Kenta merely returned a demure smile while Hergiv responded.

"Hive mind is an interesting and in this context, and a good "first guess" in reference to terminology for this system, but a flawed one. Hive mind implies both a dictatorship with no will to make decisions, and secondly it implies a biological means of achieveing such an aim. Rather, our system is a communication system based on particle entanglement, allowing for an open and direct democractic term of political based-discussion. It is not a means of passing orders from higher ups, rather a means of transmitting a constitional right to a direct government where everyone's opinion is praised, used and discussed. Any Xenonian has the right to challenge laws, which are stored on this neural network link, or neuralink, along with everything else. The devices are controlled by the mind, rather than a computer, which I must add are sentient, and have full rights in our realm. Through conditioning, training and enchancement, the brain can certainly follow enough threads of continous thought to discuss this and maintain a state of 100% awareness at the situation at hand, or on the mind. And on that note, yes we are engaged, at least someone notices."

Kenta, despite her detached state was aware of the right moment to chime in, and so she did

"Xenonian history is difficult to trace. Primarily, it centers around the actions of several major figures in history. The first of these, is Arkady Gregorovich, a whom was a member, a temporal mechanist of a race some called ancients, and others called "galaxy-spanners". Either way, witnessing the moral and ethical decay of his people, and their loss of the desire to explore and understand, he took steps to preserve their knowledge when they were destroyed under both external and interal pressure. This included taking a undisturbed world in a remote galaxy, and beginning to construct a home for the knowledge there, with roughly 0.1%, or three hundred thousand of the original empire's population who shared his conerns. "

Kenta paused, asessing the siutation and waving her tail before continuing

"Eventually, he came across like minded individuals, traders, merchants, the like, were attracted to the settlement, who built a democratic nation over the years, forming alliances with two other races. It was decided, after several major invasions by a race of pirates known as the "True Way Of Alan", that these people shared a common ideal, and were already linked in culture and mind, and thus they became, the Xenonian Protectorate. Those initial races were Humans, anthromorphs and some ancients. The genetic pool has mixed, since then, as have our ideas. Given the nature of our isolation, those three races being the only sentient ones in the galaxy, we have little to no use for trade, maintaing the Xenonite as a way to trade with others. Eventually, the Xenonian protectorate, and I must denote the Protectorate, has developed. It is a protectorate, rather than an empire with galaxy-spanning ambitions. Thus, our army is one of the most concentrated, small, elite and feared in the universe, as was evidenced when we destroyed the nation of the True Way of Alan, and routed their supporters in a pitched battle without suffering major casulaties. After Joining the ESUS, we have chosen to take a step back from war-based procedures, and focus research into temporal mechanics, Quantum Mechanics and dimensional mechanics, as evidenced by research programs with members of the ESUS. Which leaves us where we are today, one of the most open nations in terms of freedoms, with a highly educated and intelligent populace. We are not a utopia, as there is never a complete consensus, but we like to think of ourselves as a means of showing leftist philsophy and a sense of deep respect for all species in the unvierse is functional, and can work."

Stopping, Kenta observed the diplomat, and waited for the exchange of information that would follow.

24-03-2006, 13:10
"I'm sorry, if I offended you but I find, personally, there is no reason try to dance around the point. I was just trying to try get things straight in my own mind, thank you. A Hive mind is the truest form of a dictatorship, where the neuralnet.. I suppose you could call it the truest form of democracy." Nate Said and then quickly moved on to the Nova Bazalonian history

"Well, our history is much shorter and can be condensed much easier, we are essentially refugees, leaving a world that was about to be destroyed by a dieing star on a rushed spaceship that was made from technology that we where able to reverse engineer from a spaceship that had crashed nearby for an unknown length of time. No survivors where found. However due to the rushed nature of the departure the FTL engine failed and right into a battle between two forces, one very hostile and the other who protected us from them. They helped us find a planet to settle and now we have made our selves settled down and wish to make contact with the rest of the inhabitants of this Galaxy.I'm actually one of the first generation that was born on our planet."

"Exactly, and that is the reason that we sent the probes to build possitive relationships and hopefully a mutual defense agreement. Though as you probably would guess.. we don't have that much of a space fleet but we do have ground troops. As to our current allies, we are allied with The Imperial Nycarian Grand Navy of SeaQuest and The Maritime Republic of Tidan, who are members of the GFFA. They helped us find our home, and are the only other nations that know it." said Nate and then he took a sip of his glass.

"That's alright. Take this proposal to your emporer. Establish diplomatic ties between our nations by establishing a direct secured communication line directly between representatives of each nation, that will act essentially as ambassadors.

"Seaquest ... hm. I believe our ally Balrogga has connections with them, that could help smooth things over. That said, they surely must have some firepower stationed around here to support your fledging nation. Then again, I hear they have a fleet containing ships beyond 8km that are not carriers (Hergiv smiled at this), so I suppose it's not to be expected these nations have a great deal of strategic foresight."

Hergiv looked as his glance, and glared. The glass flew straight into his hand, and he drank some, before sitting around and watching the sky. He seemed to sigh, before returning to normal focus on the negotiations. Despite that, an acute observer would have noticed he still had full knowledge of every movement that occured. Kenta allowed herself the diplomatic proceedings once more.

"Arrangements for stationing of troops could be made immediately, should you request them. That said, I do believe we have the basis for a mutual agreement on the areas of trade, and free passage. Perhaps even a visit to Xeon, or such things. More than once we've had Xeon serve as a home to refugees, it is not beyond us to do it again. Xenonians are not populous. "

OOC: The reason they are asking for this knowledge on ooc record. Any ships that could be picked up by now, they'd know about. It's more an offical record they can use against you in IC proceedings. Xenonians are meticulous, and I feel obliged to portray that in every way.

"I'm not quite up on the ships of Seaquest, though I'm sure our databank back on Nova would have details on such. And even if I did have such information I doubt it would be wise to comment on movements or other such activities of allies with new contacts. Despite how promising diplomatic relations with such a new contact may be. For this diplomatic mission, our security is totally ground-based, they may or may not have ships around Nova but I very much doubt they'd have ships around here, in fact for this mission, we have not used ships at all, but a device we've purchased from Seaquest called a Stargate." Nate paused and took a sip if water then continued

"As for your suggestions, due to current security policies, the only suggestion that we can really proceed on is a trading agreement. The current policy that makes these other proposals so difficult is the fact that if no-one knows where you are, they can't attack. To such ends the location of Nova is a closely guarded secret, only the Tidani's and SeaQuestrians know of our location. And the only reason they know is that they helped us find it. Though I'm sure once we feel more secure in this Galaxy the security blanket covering Nova will be lifted and once that occurs I'm sure such proposals will be given serious consideration." Nate once againse paused and took a sip and started on...

"We have a proposal of our own, we would like to start diplomatic relations with your nation, though because of the security blanket, we propose a dedicated secure line utilising our communications probe as the means for diplomatic communication between or nations... anyway I think I have talked for far too long....

OOC: Nova Bazalonia would rely on others for defense if there where to be an attack, but apart from generics and plans for security, which where mostly Novaen plans anyway, this is a totally Novaen affair

Very well then, we shall commence with that agreement between our peoples. That asides, I believe we can organise for your own diplomats and white-shirts to veiw the Xenonian Protectorate as soon as humanly possible, given you are capable of finding this agreement acceptable." Kenta mused openly.

Hergiv finished what they were all obviously thinking.

"Given the considerations, I don't believe there is anything more to discuss then. Open whatever means for negotiation you can devise, and we will respond. However, I would like to note, stargates can and be followed"

And with that somewhat amibigous note, it seemed the discussion was at an end ..

So I suppose it's not a matter of keeping the secret of Nova's location, just delaying the release of information."

"Thank you for coming, I'm sure it won't be too long before someone gets in contact with you about that visit to the Xenonian Protectorate."

And with that the meeting was ended... Nate waited for the Xenoniers to start to leave and then a couple of the guards packed up the table and glasses while others dialed an intermeadiate world where they would hop from planet to planet and then eventually head back to Nova.

(OOC: The Millenium is rightfully classified as a Scientific Mothership, designed primarily around creating a closed system that can operate almost indefinitely. It's got the cutting edge in scanners and technology in general, being an experimental platform as well as a starship. Now, while it could construct and maintain anything up to the size of a star destroyer, it's mostly for the construction of necessary hardware, such as probes, artefact labs, shuttles, etc.

It's deliberately made as a method to send in ships to peace RPs without flying around with weapons capable of wasting a planet.)

An enormous vessel materialised in the system after tracing the stargate energies, though after a cursory examination it became clear it was not designed as a war wager, but in times of need it could serve as a starbase.

Captain A. Karellen announced the movement to orbit around the planet, as the Diplomatic Corps boarded one of the custom made shuttles. All twelve members of the current diplomatic team were on board the larger-than-normal vessel designed for transport of dignitaries; none of them would want to miss anything so important as first contact with another power - no one wanted to be remembered as being responsible for starting a war.

At their forefront was the head diplomat L. Korlis. The steely, cynical diplomat was known to be an expert at defusing heated moments, and the known number one cause for inter-species war was involuntary negative reactions.

What they weren't expecting was to find another nation descended from a human colony.

The delegation had no guards, as a matter of goodwill - foul play was unthinkable for the diplomats, as war would immediately result. Besides, if there were saboteurs the Nova Bazalonian guards could probably be relied upon to defend all diplomats. If they couldn't, sending more guards wouldn't help a bit.

For all intents and purposes, the diplomats appeared human enough, save for the silicon imprints on the right hand side of their faces. It was a necessary step for the implanting of their resident AIs and partners, and whilst unnecessary now (some had them removed later) they had become a mark of uniqueness.

As Korlis entered the room he momentarily widened his eyes in shock at discovering that they had met the descendants of another human colony, before quickly returning to the diplomatic poker face known universally.

The rest of the delegation had similar reactions upon entering, before sitting down.

"Greetings, Mr. Tournard. Well, we certainly weren't expecting to run across another of humanity's colonies. I am Lawrence Korlis/Serendipity, and our delegation have full diplomatic authority to negotiate agreements.

Lawrence frowned, considering the three proposals.

"Perhaps we could negotiate the mutual opening of borders - It is impractical to attempt to disguise one's homeworld location. Our sensor operators could more likely than not trace any movement to and from your homeworld, unless you terminate all movement."

One of the diplomats passed a note down to Korlis.

"Whilst we appreciate the need to keep the location of your homeworld a secret from certain unsavoury elements of the galaxy," One of the diplomats coughed, and Steward caught a 'assiopeia' "we are prepared to do the utmost to aid you in your endeavours to conceal your homeworld's location until a strong defence can be organised. So, for the time being we would like to settle on a general opening of borders, and will provide you with coordinates to our homeworld for civilian traffic."

Korlis took a sip from the water.

"We would also like to request permission to berth at a trade world for approximately five years to resupply and for scientific and cultural exchange. During this time we will also make our large construction bay and considerable engineering section available for your use."

(Summary follows: Restricted open borders - free civilian traffic between Hakurabi Homeworld and Nova Bazalonian worlds [excepting homeworld]. 5 year berth at tradeworld with free passage to and from surface, as well as permission to purchase supplies and cultural exchange.

"We agree in principle that it is impossible to conceal our location, we can however delay until suitable defenses are errected. Firstly hardly anyone does leave the planet and only then for either diplomacy and/or trade and when we do, we emply measures such as neutral planet hopping and such-like, we rarely ever use our spaceships, well for now at least. As for the Open borders, we only have our homeworld, as well as the trade planet, so it may be of no use for you and you may wish to re-consider. As for the Trade berth that is no problem. I have had a thought, I may be able to wrangle things so that a Harukabi team may come to Nova and may have input into our defenses. Of course they would have to be blind folded and searched for any electronic devices, just procedure, the military would have a fit if that security was not enacted. Another possibility is... do you have access to technology that prevents differing forms of Faster Than Light Travel being used? This would certainly speed up the process." Steward took a sip of his water, and wondered what the 'assiopeia' was in regards to, if there was a people named the Assopeia, then wow, what a bad co-incidence. Steward did not make the link to Cassiopeia, the Star in earthen astronomy because he had not been taught that and the few Astronomers that the Novaens did have where too busy naming the Novaen constelations to consider earthen astronomy.

Whilst I shall have to check with the Captain, more likely than not I can arrange for your scientists to make copies of the Millenium's theoretical databases and the raw data we have collected so far. Whilst it is unlikely we can allow design specifications and blueprints to be transferred, such an inhibitor could fairly readily be devised from our current theory archives - security, you see." Korlis whispered to a diplomat, who excused himself and left the room to make arrangements.

The shuttle touched down mere seconds after Steward finished. It was slightly larger than usual, but otherwise identical in appearance to the other cargo shuttles that had been touching down.

"That answers that question. If you wish, you can have a look at the outputs while it's still in the spaceport - while none of us are experts in the data transfer technologies, you're sure to find someone around here who can help adapt the databank."

The scientists rummaged through their pockets to ensure they hadn't left anything in them. Voyuz decided to ask "Are we going to get datapads there?".

Korlis continued, "I think they should be able to arrange to purchase whatever recording instruments they need on site - any expenses can be billed to us. One thing, though, we've all got cybernetic brains and resident AIs, which may cause trouble during the energy scans. Firkis had a look over the modified designs, and nodded. He contacted the designers on the telecommunicator.

"Right, we've got space to run four of these things at a time, and we'll have them started immediately. We'll be able to ramp up production speed when we've got more materials - you'll need to ship those - but otherwise we'll have these done in no time. Our workshops have started on the torpedoes and we'll start stocking the ships as they are completed. If we get a constant supply of materials we could probably get three sets done by the end of the year. Make sure you've got docking facilities ready for them when they're done."

It was not long till the raw materials started to flow from Nova to the Trade World, A number of very important ore deposits had been found during the survey and the mines had just become fully operational. The government had bought all the necessary ore, there was enough for the 12.

Landing bays where also being constructed, as the first 4 Hawdon class ships finished construction there was space for them to land. and 2 more landing bays where just about to get started.

Once the next 2 lot of ships and been constructed they headed off to Nova, via a 5 leg FTL trip, They all spent a day at the 4 points in the middle before arriving to Nova. There was enough landing bays for them when they reached There.

Military Commander James Hawdon knew that the FTL Inhibitor and the ships where only part of the defense that Nova needed...... perhaps some sort of mine... or maybe some sort of non-lethal defenses. He went to the Ministry of Science to discuss the options.

OOC: Changed the time scale of this slightly... The events of What on Nova have not happened as yet

Korlis contacted the Bazalonians again to request further shipyard orders. "Right, do you need us to keep churning out the Hawdons or shall we start building something else? We'll need a reply within the next couple of days - we'll just start building more of the ships after that."

In the meantime, both the Bazalonians and the Hakurabi had gained an understanding of each other's cultures, and faux pas was a rather rare incident now. The scientists had met with their Nova Bazalonian contemporaries and most had several friends amongst the Bazalonians.

Military Commander Cantrill contacted Korlis...
"Ah.. .yes, We are looking into exactly what we need for the future, but for the time being we should just require 12 more Hawdons. Once we have these done, we are still not quite ready to remove the security blanket over Nova, but once the Inhibitor is ready and in-place, it's then we will and I'm sure Steward would like to talk to you again at that point of time."

Novaens where visiting the Harukabi in droves, with the Open Border, So not only where friendships forming on the Trade World but so where friendships where. In fact, back on Nova political pressure was starting to mount to disclude the Harukabi from this security blanket, or to remove the blanket all together.

The Government has re-affirmed the importance of the security blanket and has stated the importance of the nations relations with Harukabi but has yet to bow to the pressure

"Right then. We'll have them done soon. Also, some of the scientists believe that they can nearly double the interstellar drive speeds by adding one of our Hyperspatial bubble drives to the ships - we've taken the liberty of doing so, unless you feel otherwise. Test runs have shown there's no fundamental conflict. We're going to turn over plans for the hyperspace bubble-generators. After all, we've already got schematics for the time-distortion drive and such a mutually beneficial combination can not be ignored."

Korlis checked the agenda again.

"We've also heard that there's been recent pressure to lift the security blanket for us. We're letting you know we're with the government on the issue - until security is ensured, it's probably not the best idea. Whilst we won't make any disclosures, and your people know the importance of keeping the location of your homeworld a secret, it's a risk allowing the general populace to shift so freely. We are well aware there exists the possibility of a spy presence in Hakurabi, so opening full borders poses an unacceptable risk - as your people stressed, there are unsavoury presences you do not wish to discover the location of your homeworld as of yet."

The Hyperspacing drive functioned on pan-dimensional principles. Whilst there were many things called hyperspace, and all of them different, they were linked - the differences lay in the execution. The Hakurabi version encapsulates a bubble of Truespace and shunts the ship into hyperspace, displacing an equal amount of hyperspace into truespace, where it quickly resolves into truespace, leaving only a faint red glow. The same process happening to the ship is only prevented by the machinery encapsulating the bubble. In hyperspace the distance between stars is shrunken by an order of magnitude.

High energy gravity wells affect this system and it is impossible to enter Truespace within 1 AU of an Earth-sized planet. This scales with mass, so a star will stop transfers from Hyperspace for a considerable distance. However, in lieu of the presence of FTLi, Hyperspace can be entered from a considerably shorter distance from a gravity well. Obviously it's a <bad> idea to shunt star material with you to hyperspace, or anything else for that matter, so safety mechanisms prevent shunting with a significant non-connected presence in the bubble zone.

Since time passes normally in Hyperspace, the Bazalonian time-distortion drive can be easily run in addition to the bubble-generator and effective travel time is cut considerably.

Steward pondered this.. "If they don't conflict, then by all means. Yeah, we are not ready at the moment, even with the 25 total ships. But I have been hearing rumours that once a planetery-based FTLi is up and running with some sort of mine project that is currently in the works. That our defenses will be at a point where we will be comfortable enough to remove the blanket. Once that occurs, discussion of full open border, a formal alliance and such will be on the agenda."

.....

The Novaen (ooc: While Bazalonia is the nation that Nova Bazalonia splite off they see themselves as a seperate entity, as Novaens rather than Bazalonians.) Government made the following statement. "We will not be removing the security Blanket. We cannot remove the Security Blanket on the location yet, We have discussed with the Harukabi and they agree. Please remember if you Visit the Harukabi to not to tell anyone the Stargate address for Nova. Thank you."

(OOC: Ah. It's just that 'Nova' is a reasonably common prefix for FT nations. I'll start using Novaen.)

"Right then, any other orders? We can keep making the ships, or would you like us to construct something different? We just need the required materials and we can build it, so long as it isn't anything too exotic."

"Um... Just some more Mk II Hawdons, I think if we do another 24 and by then we should have finished or nearly finished construction of a space-bourne shipyard. Your help has been greatly appreciated but the Government is thinking that it is about time that we start taking some responsibility for these things ourselves. I had been in contact and we can confirm that the resources will be available for construction." replied Steward

(OOC: P.S., you misspelled 'Hakurabi' on the ship design thread.)

"Right, we'll have the bay running immediately. We're happy to help - at the moment our vessel represents a major portion of construction capacity, but is easily overshadowed by a well-designed orbital installation. Refitting the Mark Ones to incorporate the new drives should be fairly simple and requires little effort by a skilled engineering team to install - There's a few places where you could put them without too much sacrifice."

Korlis paused.

"We've also recieved word from our scientists that some wish to remain on the Trade World for further studies and collaboration with their Novaen contemporaries, as well as recieving requests from a few of your scientists for a berth on the ship. Would it be possible to arrange such an exchange?"
Nova Bazalonia
06-04-2006, 22:44
"Yeah, I think that our Military Commander has been commenting on not wanting 2 different ships that havw the same class; and with the scientific exchange there should not be any problem with that, particularily your scientists being here on the Trade World. I'll start organising things my end."

OOC: Fixed... getting the darned r and k mixed around

Incoming Transmission:
This is the Federation of Trinity Prime. Our vessal, the Commerant (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y293/jeudesprit/trinity/Bandoredux.png), passed on your initial transmission. We have a Stargate system and would like to meet with you.

Do you wish our ship to land or our ambassador to come through to your location?

We have much to speak about and pehaps aid you in your new homeworld or interstellar emergence.

The following message was sent via the communications probe to the Federation of Trinity Prime.

Security Policies are in place so that such a visit is not possible at this point in time but we shall be able to meet on a neutral planet. Stargate Address and co-ordinates of the planet are included, we have already sent a diplomatic delegation and they should be there and ready once you arrive. Thank you

"Very well. The ships should be done in a similar space of time, and they'll be done in two years. We also extend to you an offer of training - new technology like the Hyperspace drive will take time to integrate and beyond small quantities it will be a considerable period of adaption. As such, we propose a meeting of experts - our hyperspatial engineers will give your time-space physicists a course on the workings, and vice versa."

"Yes, no point in using technology that no one under-stands. I will make sure that our best time-space physicists are available to run a course for your Hyperspatial engineers and they will also sit in, as well with a number of others, on your course about the Hyperspace Bubble Generator."

"We'll make arrangements immediately. Don't worry about our experts - we've got so many volunteers we've got to trim the numbers. We can organise for the convention to happen in around a month, so we can prepare working samples and the appropriate equipment for the course."
