We wish to enter into a work-visa program with nearby Thailand. We can offer $25,000 per year capita per worker and decent working conditions, plus housing and food. Also...is Thailand looking to sell people? Australia has a need for people right now.

To: PM Thaksin Chinnawat
From: PM Lee, Singapore, HRH Sultan of Brunei (Straits League)

We in the Straits League eagerly wish to increase ties with the nation of Thailand, mainly in the interest of keeping peace in the area. We also would like to, if possible, help you modernize your military with the shipment of Singaporean made small arms and Bionix IFVs.

The League is also interested, if possible, in pursuing closer economic ties, via a trade pact which would lower existing liberal trade barriers and enable economic propserity for both sides. If it helps, we have oil. Lots of it.

To PM Aramaki of Australia -

A work-visa program, while interesting, is somewhat unlikely to get applicants. After all, we have only a 2% unemployment rate, and the majority of our workforce is securely employed in industry or services. Nonetheless, we are willing to begin said program.
If they wish, any Australian corporations may invest in Thailand, provided that they meet the requirements set by the Board of Investment of Thailand (http://www.boi.go.th/english/how/setting_up_a_business.asp).
As for "selling" people, we are frankly horrified by this idea. Thus, we will not "sell" any of our citizens.

Sincerely,
HM King Phumiphon Adunyadet of Thailand
PM Thaksin Chinnawat of Thailand

Response from Prime Minister Aramaki

Shall we conclude 200,000 will be willing to work under our program?

As for selling of citizens, this is a common practice in nations like yours. I wish Australia could have organized a proper trade off for the paid immigration to Australia. It is a way to reduce the poverty level and 'trouble-makers' of Thailand. We would even go as far as to take hardened criminals.

We are pleased by your support of our nation. In terms of small arms, we are fine; however, we would like to purchase ten (10) Bionix APCs for trials purposes. In the event that they are satisfactory, we will purchase a further seven hundred eighty (780) for the army, to replace the tracked APCs we currently maintain.
As for trade, we operate with few trade restrictions, and are willing to lower them for your nation. We have requested that Prime Minister Chinnawat pass the appropriate legislation, and expect it to sail through Parliament.
Thank you for your support of our nation.
Sincerely,
HM King Phumiphon Adunyadet of Thailand

To Prime Minister Aramaki -
We apologize; you must have us confused with some Third World nation. We have a strong, export-based economy; we have no need of "selling" people.
We predict that 100,000 people, or possibly 200,000 (at most) will apply.

Sincerely,
HM King Phumiphon Adunyadet of Thailand
PM Thaksin Chinnawat of Thailand

We have done the same trade wise. Rest assured, legislation will enter the Sinaporean Parliament and the Sultan's desk, to be approved soon. As for the Bionix APCs, Singapore Technologies has agreed to produce ten test models for the Thai Army, which will arrive upon transfer of funds and within a few days.

SIC: France inquires the Thai government in their stance towards Australia, especially concerning their invasion of Somalia. If possible, we would likewise request tacit consent to repressing actions against the Australian forces present there.

We will quietly support your nation in the crisis; Thailand and Australia are not friends. However, we're much closer to Australia, so we'd rather not, for the moment, openly take a position either way. Nonetheless, if push comes to shove, in the event of an all-out war, we will certainly lean towards France and possibly even intervene on your side. However, we would like your tacit support on a future endeavour against the military government of Burma.
Sincerely,
HM King Phumiphon Adunyadet of Thailand
PM Thaksin Chinnawat of Thailand

If Burma no longer has a military government, ignore the text claiming it did.

It appears as if the work-visa program may just save thousands of Vietnamese lives and help rebuild the nation to a powerful stable nation. As our close ally recieves help, Australia can't help but wonder if Thailand's would want to enter into an economic trade center to help meet our Australian business demands for farming equipment, parts, cars.

To PM Aramaki -
We have a free-market economy. You will need to talk with the individual corporations in Thailand that sell the products your nation desires in order to arrange for factories or dealerships in your nation.
As for Vietnam, we remain somewhat distressed by events there, but hope that a stable democratic state will emerge.
Sincerely,
HM King Phumiphon Adunyadet of Thailand
PM Thaksin Chinnawat of Thailand

Was your message secret? Please say if a message is secret; otherwise, it is public, and will be treated as such by everyone. By the way, Thai Rung Union Auto sells cars; address a post (on this thread) to that company to arrange for dealerships/factories.

OOC: I've always played in this RP that if it is specifically addressed to someone, then only that person recieves it. Of course the press could get a hold of it I suppose.

I just write either Secret or Public on every one of my messages.

OOC - The way I see it, at the very least, unless a message is secret, the message is leakable, and thus potentially public.

Beltway....I'm not going to every single one to open a system for trade....That's pointless. Though we still need to have government backing it make it a CENTER so our ships and convoys of supplies are able to get through.
