After several years of relative calm and order, the city of Algiers has once again fallen the arms of unrest. President Bouteflika has ordered the army into order to suppress the movement. The new movement, called Coalition for the Free Berber State, has pressed for forceful secession from Algeria. At the current moment, Algeria has maintained its current state of affairs, as the violence has not extended far into the deep societal workings of the government and the state. There is no official comment from the government regarding this.

[ooc: I presume ASAN = South Africa...]

The Algerian government appreciates the expression for concern, but there is no reason for peacekeeping forces; we have this under control.

News break from Algiers:

A loud explosion rocked the train depot two hours agos, killing at least 50 civilians and injuring hundreds of others. The Algerian government has followed the culprit to the Coalition, and has begun to crack down on the revolting Berbers.

Still, the Algerian government maintains its commitment to resolve the issue on its own strength.

Israel is worried that this recent explosion is indeed a terrorist attack. Israel demands that the government track down these killers and put them behind bars... or send them to meet their Maker.

In light of the recent explosion in Algiers, the ANP has arrested around 50 people for interrogation. The government has not yet confirmed all of this, but it is quite clear that the Army is doing a good job anyway, so we'll leave it to them.

From the Kingdom of Denmark to Algeria:

As a friendly suggestion, we would like for a minor international force to look into the methods used to capture and interrogate these terrorists, which will be at the discretion of Algeria to release to the public or not.

It would be a favour towards Denmark if Algeria would ask the UN for international inspectors to ensure that its soldiers are keeping to human rights regulations.

Denmark will not take any action in the UN to attempt to force Algeria to accept international inspectors.

While we appreciate the concern by the Kingdom of Denmark, we have the situation under control, and we do not need any foreign overseers to review our government.

Al Jazeera - The city of Algiers was just rocked by a nuclear explosion an hour ago. The center of the blast was reportedly in the government sector, and while casualties are reportedly high, no confirmed reports have come as of yet. The Coalition has not claimed responsibilty for the attacks, saying that they would never go out and "harm this many people with inhuman devices"; the Algerian government [or at least what little remains of it now] states that the Berbers have killed all of their chances of limited autonomy inn Algeria in this breach of the peace.

It is assumed that President Bouteflika has been injured in the blast, but again, nothing has been yet confirmed. Investigations continue on this crisis as it stands now. For the moment, Prime Minister Ahmed OUYAHIA has assumed authority in Algeria until the President can be confirmed to be in fit health.

The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria again maintains its firm commitment to its resolution, while we respect the desire of other nations to interfere in the affairs of the Algerian government. We have just arrested thousands of the culprits and they are currently pending trials to determine their guilt. In the meantime, our government has relocated its functions to Oran, seeing as the nuclear blast has corrupted our capital. If we need assistance, we will ask for it.

With the government in Orania, a rogue General Khalid Moussarn has laid siege to the city, demanding that the government grant the military authority over the country, in the interest of maintaining order in the country. As of the moment, the Algerian government has made no comment, but its crackdown on the militant groups in the country is intensifying.

The Algerian government hass agreed to lend the military control of the security efforts in Algeria, notably in the follow-up of the nuclear attack on Algiers. In response, General Moussarn has issued martial order in the entire country and seized all of the arrested convicts, putting them in detention cells for further questioning. While he is appreciative of world support in Algeria, he concurs with the Algerian government that this is a domestic affair and it should be best resolved by domestic options. He furthermore grants that justice shall be done on the terrorists.

[last post tonight...sleepy bar on full...ehhhhhhh...]

With the country under martial order, General Moussarn now demands that the government reorganize into a more Islamicized nation, to unify the people by religion. The government has not made any concessions to General Moussarn's demands. Thousands of people across the country have "disappeared" overnight. Berbers have been spotted fleeing across the border into Tunisia and Libya, where a number of them reported atrocities committed by Algerian forces. These reports remain unconfirmed by the Algerian government.

The Algerian government has sent a order to General Moussarn to revert authority to the civilian government, seeing as he has most excellently put out this threat of terrorism in Algeria [albeit too late...]. Moussarn's initial reaction was to lockdown the city, although he has not expressed anything else. A rival general from near Annaba has been spotted in Spain, with his intentions unknown.

There was a discussion on if it really was the T-90, and some people said it looked more like the T-72BU. It hasn't really settled, but it can either be the T-72BU or an early T-90. It's up to you what you choose it to be.]

General Moussarn has declared a state of national emergency, as his troops around Oran begin to attack the government forces. It is expected that Moussarn's forces will storm the remnants of the government by the end of the year. Already, Moussarn has declared himself President of Algeria with dictatorial powers. While he understands that this might not be acceptable to the rest of the world, he states that Algeria "needs a strong and powerful leader to guide [the country] to success in the [21st] century."

In his exile in Spain, General Irbihim an Nasiri has called for the world to oppose the militant forces of General Moussarn. With him are PM Ouyahia and a number of members of the Algerian parliament, all condemning Moussarn' actions as "unrighteous and unjust." They declare that General Moussarn is an enemy of the state, furthermore imploring the people of Algeria to resist General Moussarn's authority.

Moussarn's forces have effectively crushed the last resistance in Oran, while a new resistance grows from the east near Tunisia. In light of this situation, General Moussarn declares that Tunisia is harboring rebels and separatists, and demands that Tunisia close its border.

[SIC to Italy: We support your actions in Tunisia, as long as the rebels coming from there are stopped at all costs and your government supports our new government.

General Khalid Moussarn
President of the Democratic Republic of Algeria]

In exile, PM Ouyahia is requesting an open table with King Felipe of Spain and President Villepin of France, to secure a re-establish of the parliamentary government in Algeria. General an Nasiri is leading forces from Toulon, France, as Algerian Parliamentarian-aligned forces battle against Moussarn's forces. He also extends a warm welcome of support from Russia and the UK to restore his government in Algeria against the militant General Moussarn.

SIC:

Jacob Andersen has decided to support any rebellion against the military rule of Tunisia. Having been unable to actually send peacekeepers in time to aid the government forces in their defence, Denmark is instead secretly comtemplating using its special forces to train and arm democratic resistance movements.

TO SPAIN: Are you in control of Morocco? If so, the Kingdom of Denmark is interested in sending some of its special forces into Algeria, through Morocco to search and rescue a number of our citizens that have been caught in Algerian territory. We also feel that Spain would have no issue in allowing our special forces to perform other clandestine operations in Algeria, in order to further opposition to the military rule of Algeria.

We eagerly await your reply and acceptance on this matter - PM Jacob Andersen.

Under auspicious terms, General Moussarn has tentatively moved 10,000 troops from Oran to Algeria's border with Morocco, even while he could really use those troops along the Tunisian border where Parliamentarian forces continue to battle against his leadership. PM Ouyahia has announced that he will attend the summit in Paris.

==========

General Moussarn issues a warning to Spain that any invasion of Morocco will be a declaration of war against all Arabic states, and that jihad will be declared against the aggressors of Islam, seeing as these reckless people do not remember the message of the March train bombings in 2004. He furthermore sends word to the Arab League that they should condemn the Kingdom of Spain for taunting the free people of Morocco and that they should declare jihad together. It is unknown how the world will react to these calls.
