The Scandinvans

The lands to the south of Scandinavia had long been subject to raids by the Valgardians, but now those raids would come full circle with the full scale invasion of the lands that are now modern Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and parts of Poland. The raids had already been made signaled by the fact that recent raids had established a few bridgeheads at the mouths of the large rivers. As well the area had been mapped well by Valgardians who had been assigned to make accurate maps so that the Valgardian invaders would know the lands well enough to travel them without getting lost.
As the sun rose over the mountains east of Valdra the horns thundered across the harbor signaling to the ships that the time had come for them to depart and head towards either the Low Counties or Latvia where the main invasions would take place. As the ships departed people cheered on their kinsmen as they went off to war and to glory.
The ships journeys only took a few days as they were only heading a few hundred miles to the south or east from their departing port in western Norway. The first fleet to reach was the Fury where they quickly overcame the naval resistance and began the bombardment of the costal defenses. As the cannon ships bombarded the coast the first wave of soldiers began to make landings on the beaches on the islands of Holland.
In the east the fleet of the Blade began to make the first landings in Latvia where they were preparing the areas for the main army group of 27,000 soldiers to land. As well they began to encounter heavier resistance as their first patrols where sent a few miles inland.
To the soldiers being landed in the Low Counties and Latvia this war was one of justice because to them this war was a holy one to their belief that Valgard properly had the right to rue all of Europe and that these invasions where just the beginning of something much bigger.
