Modern Eritrea, Uncolonized East Africa
The Kingdom of Ethiopia had never seriously moved to secure this abandoned province of the Ottoman Empire, leaving it to a state of Semi-Organized Anarchy, a tribal society ripe for colonization. In twenty five years, Italian Colonists would colonize this land in the name of the Italian Crown, striking it up as a yet another devoured slice of the rapidly disappering African Pie. However, events were in motion, events which would alter the history of the continent for centuries to come... all caused by the smallest of things.
General Montgomery H. Cameron was an ambitious man by nature, who did not take lightly to discomformity. His political aspirations were shot down as he preached against the positions of Royalty still holding considerable power in Government, making powerful enemies among the aristocracy. Every step he took, he found the path blocked off by red tape, leaving him optionless in his desire for leadership. He had become a broken man, resigned to his position as a Commanding General, a position which would make other men drool. For years he wrote novels, made contacts and gained the loyalty of his men, hoping that one day an opportunity would present itself. For five years after his abandonment of his political campaign, he readied himself, until one day, the golden apple he had for so long sought presented itself.
General Cameron was given orders to take a large force of British Regulars to India in a move to support the British East India Company from Indian Rebel Armies Plauging the area. Parlament was keen on destroying all resistance in the region, for the industires blooming from the land was key to the thriving British Economy. Due to the importance of the mission, a rather large force was mustered, some nine thousand men total were to be dispatched, an array of military might more than capable of silencing any dissillussioned Indian Patriots. However, the man in charge of this force had different plans... plans to fufill his political conquest, plans of true leadership. He planned on taking a short stop, a stop in Eastern Africa... a stop from which the fleet would not return.
