Is anybody interested in a pre-WWII-based Earth? Lots of interesting quibbles to be resolved and so forth, with the added bonus of a giant war in the near future. Perhaps trying for a Hearts of Iron-style alternate history where Brazil takes over the world might be interesting ;)
Due to some experiences on other Earth's I may have to restrict the important nations to players with established RPing reputations as several times I have had Earth's fail due to people taking important nations and either sitting on them or RPing very poorly.
However, joint-playing of nations is always an option if new players wish to get in on the big nations and it makes it easier for the more experienced players to get on with the buisness of high-end diplomacy while somebody else deals with those troublesome (insert ethnic group here) over in (insert colonial possession here), the (insert derogatory term for above ethnic group here).
Anyway, the date isnt set. Im thinking early 30's, perhaps '33 or maybe just plain old 1930 to get a nice round number in.

Start early in the 30s; otherwise, you'll probably end up with an rp too similar to the plethora of World War II rps out there. Besides, you might be able to keep the Nazis out of this...

Ill stick with the non-turtledove version, thanks. I dont like his books anyway. Except the one about the guys who gave the Confederacy AK-47's, although I didnt even read that to the end.
Anyway, yeah, early 30's is already in place.

That wasn't Turtledove; I'm not much of a fan of him, but that's beside the point. The rp linked to is set in 1930, but in a world in which the Seven Years' War never happened, meaning that the 18th century never effectively ended. Certainly there are a few democratic or loosely democratic states, like Holland, France, and England; however, the HRE still exists and Italy has not been unified, among other differences. It's an interesting, and original, rp.
By the way, personally, on second thought, perhaps starting in the 20s would be better for an interwar rp?

Okay, Ive got a few friends via AIM, so we have just enough players to fill the big players of the period if they all take a major country, which they may not.
Yay.
Anyway...
That one RP is way too unrealistic for me... the Seven Years War was important... but to say nothing would occur after that point just because somehow the war was averted? Eh... lets just make a 30's RP and start er' up.

On a site note, I once tried an Earth 1936, which was the same principle, except there were Nazis in power. But, their army was still 100,000.

Conflict looms between Germany and France over various interpretations of the Treaty of Versailles. France is demanding payment, and Germany is responding that it has no money.
Both countries are attemping desperatly to get their economies back on track after the economic turmoil of the 20's, the hyperinflation and various other economic repricussions.
Could WWII occur nearly a decade in advance?
