Marxist Militia In Atruria
DURENHALL, DURENHEIM - Yesterday, at 11:30 AM, Iain Ansgar, Secretary-General of the infamous Marxist Coalition of Atruria, was able to pass a piece of legislation which made it legal for the Coalition to form a paramilitary pseudo-police force. The disturbingly dangerous piece of legislation’s timing was planned perfectly, at a session called by Mr. Ansgar, where most members of the Royal Parliament were attending either the Royal Ball, held in the Duchy of Sanchony, to commemorate Prince Constantine’s marriage, or the seven-day Gastonian Summit on Environmental Issues. The bulk of the remaining Members of Parliament were identified with the hard-lining Marxist Coalition and their less-radical offspring, the Atrurian Labor Party. Most of the few remaining members of the Royal Atrurian Party and the Royal Democrat Party were also extremely left-leaning.
In the recent years, the Marxist Coalition and the ALP have been steadily gaining new members, dissenters of the current economic and political system within Atruria. At this point, it is estimated that approximately 46 per cent of the Atrurian population are in alignment with the political and economic beliefs of one of the two parties, up substantially from the estimated 12.7 percentage, seen six years ago in the previous parliament. Also a substantial increase, the number of parliamentary members of the MCA has increased from a single seat to 107 seats, and the ALP from 25 to 97.
All 107 members of the MCA were present at this Parliament session and voted positively on this bill. The Atrurian Labor Party was split both ways, with a 59 vote yet. The remaining thirty-seven MoPs present voted no, but were extremely outnumbered. The Marxist paramilitary organization, formed legally has been, since exactly noon, yesterday, recruiting. The most conservative estimates place the size of this militant group at up to eight-hundred strong already.
