OOC: I’m restarting my nation entirely. Any body is welcome to participate. I’m using a combo of Homeworld and Star Gate tech.

IC: The civil war was over. The old empire had been destroyed by there own greed. The new Empire how ever, was growing. Their new space navy was ready to be used, there ships lay in orbit around the world. How ever, beneath the surface of Tannishar, a great structure had been found. Inside were old bits of ancient tech and thus it was being excavated.

All was quiet at the dig site. The lights had been turned off and the majority of the archeologists returned to the surface. How ever a small man was still working on digging out a small hatch. This hatch lead to a much larger room below and was one of the top priorities of the dig. Faint power readings had been detected in side. Then suddenly the man let out whoop of joy. The hatch was opening, and lights were coming on. Grabbing his radio he started talking into excitedly. “It’s open! It’s opened just like Dr Right said it would. Get the rest of the team ready and meet me at the hatch.”

A large group of scientists were gathered around a ring about 6.7 meters high. In front of it was meter high dais. Already people had started investigating what they had discovered. The room was about 200 meters long and 100 meters wide. At one end there was a huge power generator that was connected to the gate. Along the walls were many symbols that coincided with the symbols on the gate and dais. Each were in sets of seven.

One Year Later:

The Gate room had been totally refurbished. New computers had been installed and the old carvings on the walls had been transferred to the central museum in Tannis, the capital of Tannishar. At last the first expedition of Tannisharians would commence. The planet selected had been confirmed as having a breathable atmosphere and was similar in climate to Tannishar.

The day was upon them, the first contact Tannishar would make with the out side galaxy in 8 years. In space the first of the Tannishar next generation space craft were getting ready to leave, hopefully they would make contact with there old allies of the G.F.F.A.

Planet XJY-153:

The Star Gate opened and out came 40 Tannishar marines. They began to set up a perimeter around the gate. Then the gate opened again, this time mobile mass drivers and Reaper walking tanks were sent through. Tannishar had left its own system once more.

OOC: If you want to dial the same gate address as I have then go ahead. The space fleet won’t move out for a while.

The oddities of space.

One minute your floating around a system with no signs of intelligent life forms or technology of any kind, then the next minute your systems go off the charts with readings of a high power source emminating from the furthest planet away from the ship.

"Captain Pella," the communicator spoke and repeated again before it continued, "your presence is requested on the bridge, sir. Priority orange."

Standing up from the sofa on which he was lounging in his study, Captain Pella looked at the mirror that hung on the far wall. He recognised the young man he saw, with brown hair that sat neatly on his head, the blue eyes and the grey officers uniform that had its three top buttons undone. He nodded his content at his appereance, and headed out the door.

"What's all the commotion?" he inquired as he entered the bridge. Walking along the catwalk, he moved to his second in command, Lieutenant Olmos who stood at one of the far woorkstations on the ground floor discussion something with the man stationed there. Olmos looked up and saluted briefly, then got to the point.
"An energy signature has been detected in this area. I've ordered us towards the planet, and we should be there in minutes, but I thought it better to have you here incase you might disagree with my orders."

Pella waved him off absentmindedly, giving his agreement with the orders, then went back up onto the catwalk and moved to the windows. It took less time than he had initially thought, and the planet appeared like any normal planet. He wondered what was so special about it, but he had his orders, and an unknown energy source peeked his curiosity. Only moments later, a shuttle was launched and heading down to the planet, Pella looked over his small guard that was accompagning him, and thought deeply about the planet below.

IC: The Tannisharian marines spotted the shuttle. They had no way of telling what people it was from but soon they would know. Their mass drivers were now set up and the 3 Reapers were already on their way to the estimated landing point of the shuttle.

Gate Observation Project, Vis Uban

Every day the Gate Observation Project logged thousands if not millions of activations, most of them by previously catalogued races in the course of everyday events. It was the duty of the project to send a message through the gate whenever an unidentified race activated their gate. Recently, this only happened about once per year. This time, it was after a five-year drought of new races.

When the Alteran observers detected a new wormhole coming from an area previously untouched by most sentients, there was a rush. The gate was quickly dialled, and a message transmitted.

We greet you, sentients.

We are the Alterans, the race who created the artifact you recently activated, and we have taken a great interest in you. If you do not mind, we would very much like to send an envoy to your people to discuss certain matters.
Tannishar

"Sir the Gates being dialed!" Shouted one of the many people in the control room. "No objects yet, only a transmission. Should I play it?" he asked. "Go ahead."

"We greet you, sentients.

We are the Alterans, the race who created the artifact you recently activated, and we have take a great interest in you. If you do not mind, we would very much like to send an envoy to your people to discuss certain matters."

"Send through the following message."
This is Tannishar Gate control. You may send an envoy if you wish. We will have our own diplomats here soon.
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 03:25
In one of Vis Uban's orbitally-based facilities, the diplomat stepped through the event horizon, to contact the people of Tannishar.

The diplomat was 6 feet tall, brown hair and dressed in an immaculate white uniform, with the empty buttoned holster that all diplomats trained at the Vis Uban academy wore.

Upon stepping out of the gate, the diplomat smiled.

"I am Jove, the diplomat assigned by the Senate to speak to your people."
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 03:43
The Tannisharian government had not expected contact so quick. There was no diplomat that could arrive in decent time so the commander of the base would have to do.

Commander Nigel Sykes (http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c280/Tannishar/_gendo.jpg) walked into the gate room after the diplomat had arrived. "Hello, I am in command of the Tannisharian Gate Control. I'm the temporary diplomat."
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 03:48
Jove bowed slightly.

"I must say, I wasn't sure what to expect. Often when an activation is detected for the first time in several thousand years, it was activated by accident. Your people obviously know what it is and what it is for. My superiors and I are most impressed. This is an impressive facility."
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 03:55
"We merely excavated it. Well we did add some parts on." Nigel said. "We learnt how the gate worked by what we found down here." He said as he waved his hand around the room. "But what I would like to know is why has the gate not activated before now?"
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 04:04
"You'd have to ask a physicist for an answer to that question. The gates are very complex pieces of technology. There could have been issues with the power amplification, I suppose. The power required to form a wormhole is enormous, as I'm sure you must realise."
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 04:07
"That very well might have been the reason. The power only started up after we entered this room. But any way would you please follow me to the conference room."
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 04:09
Jove followed the base commander, noting the features of the base, genuinely impressed at the technological level of a first-contact race that wasn't a bunch of rag-draped tribesmen armed with spears.

"Just as an afterthought, did you find any crystal-based technology around the gate?"
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 04:28
"Crystal? None of that at all." He replyed as he walked into a large room. "This is the conference room." Inside were five people, each sat at a round table with small computer consoles. "Please take a seat. Hanik please tell tell our friend about your self." Nigel said to one of the computers. "Yes sir." came an eerie voice from the speakers. "I am Hanik, a next generation computer system. I am designed to learn and think like a real Tannisharian. If you have any questions just ask me."

Pella looked around at the landscape of the planet. His shuttle had landed in what appeared to be a mountain valley. Quite peaceful, with pine trees scattered here and there. But there was no time to enjoy the scenerie, as the question of the power source was still to be answered, tho the approacing vehicles of unknown make that were bearing down upon the shuttle might have something to do with it.

OOC: Looks like I'm the first G.F.F.A. member to join (other than yourself, Tannishar, of course).

IC: Neo Roma, Botany

"Are we ready for the next dialing?"

"Yes, sir. That old database we found has expanded our Address Databank considerably."

"Then dial the Gate."

"Aye."

The seven symbols were entered into the Stargate. After the activation key was hit, the Gate roared to life as the destructive plume of unstable energy that marked the formation of the wormhole formed and collapsed into the event horizon as the wormhole stabalized.

"Send the M.A.L.P. through along with the signal."

"Aye, sir."

The M.A.L.P. (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y160/DragoonKVess/Stargates/malp1.jpg), a tank-like remote-controlled probe, dissapeared into the event horizon for its transit to the other side.

Everyone in the Control Room watched the monitors as they waited for the signal back from the M.A.L.P. to be processed by the computer and the images from the cameras be put on the screens.

Messages

Transmitted through the Gate five minutes before the M.A.L.P. went through:

Attention. If anyone on the other side can read this, we are going to send a probe through the Gate to test to make sure the atmosphere is suitable for a manned expedition.

OOC: Tannishar, I just dialed the Gate you found under the hatch. Let me know what the M.A.L.P.'s cameras see.
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 07:42
What the camera saw was this. Along both walls were grey armoured plates. At the opposite end, groups of Tannisharian personal looked at computer terminals and the gate it self. The computers were protected by a one meter thick wall with a small force field designed to stop most types of projectile and energy weapons.

A loud pulsing alarm sounded through out the base. In the conference room Nigel was informed of the gate opening again and another message. The team had analysed the speech patterns as well as the language spoken. Clarey they were of SeaQuest origin and would be treated as friends for now.

Response
This is Tannisharian Gate Control. We will allow for you to send people through.

"The computer's translated that response fast."

"Yes. It seems we already had the language on file."

"Is the team ready?"

"Yes, sir."

The team in question, two Draconians, two Furlings, and an Alteran, were standing at the foot of the ramp that led to the Gate.

"Send them in."

The Sargent nodded and signaled the all clear through the Gate Room's intercom.

The team's leader, the Alteran, nodded and led her people through the Gate.

On the other side a group of people were standing in full armour (http://s13.invisionfree.com/Old_Earth/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=1953619). "If you would please follow us the conference room." Said the lead marine. "And do realise that your the second group today to come through that gate."

Major Haruka Shitou (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y160/DragoonKVess/Character%20Pics/1543_11340.jpg) nodded in acknowledgement.

"Understood," she said, "Lead the way to this Conference Room of yours."

The two Furlings exchanged looks through their helmets. Both pressed the controls on their wrist gauntlets and retracted their helmets.

OOC: Last post for the night.

04-03-2006, 15:18
Jove spotted the representative of SeaQuest and let out a small grunt.

"Quite the advanced computer you have here. Tannishar certainly isn't lacking in the technological department,t hat's for sure. We use a similar system on undercrewed ships, and a less sophisticated version runs our FTLiBusting weapons."
SeaQuest
04-03-2006, 15:23
The two Furlings tightened their grips on the staffs they carried and the two Draconians bristled when they spotted the Gate Builder representative. Major Haruka Shitou narrowed her eyes, but stopped the others from doing anything hasty.
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 15:30
The reaction of the delegation from SeaQuest visibly amused Jove, who was grinning broadly, barely stifling a mocking laugh.

"Well hello. I see that your people didn't waste any time in pouncing. You are wise to reign in your Furlings. The Senate already has a rather dull view of your people. So much as displacing a hair on my head would mean war for your people. Still, I'm not here to throw veiled threats at your people. Rather than start a penis-waving match with your people I'd like to get on with talking to these newcomers."
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 20:56
"Well then lets get started." Nigel said in an attempt to stop any arguments. "What we would like to know about is the gate and power generator found here. Who made it and why was it here?"
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 21:00
"Both SeaQuest and my people can lay claim to that. Our species built the gate network that spans three galaxies. It was there because at some point our people must have made an attempt at colonisation. There may be more of our technology on your world."
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 21:04
"We have found no technology like this at any other site." Came the computers voice. "In one hundred years this is the largest and most important device discovered upon Tannishar. The rest of the old tech was found in space."
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 21:07
Jove nodded as he listened.

"At some point most of our colonies were ravaged by a terrible plague. Those that weren't wiped out left their worlds to return to where they came from. It is quite possible that it was all taken offworld by the fleeing colonists. It was a dark time."
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 21:20
"That would be logical." The computer replied.
SeaQuest
04-03-2006, 21:25
Haruka ignored the insults of the Gate Builder representive. But her companions glared at the man, the Draconians especially.

"You forget," Haruka said, to the arrogant Alteran, "that SeaQuest and Gate Builders are not the only nations to contain Alterans. Nebarri Prime for example and I've heard rumers of another known as Future England. In fact, if I recall my history correctly, when our two nations first met, your's was under the assumption you were the only Alterans anywhere and refused to acknowledge the SeaQuestian presence as factual Alterans. So, I wouldn't be surprised to see it take a similar length of time for you to recognize Alterans in other nations.

"And if you had even tried working on a cure for the disease that had its origins in the Ascension research instead of running, like we did, you would have been smart enough to know not to create the Wraith in similar experiments."

She turned to the Tannishar computerized representative and said, after a few moments to calm herself, "Of course, there are many things we can do to help each other. Known Gate Addresses for one, and supplies for another."
The Gate Builders
04-03-2006, 21:30
Jove just smiled in the direction of the glaring draconians.

"We don't recognise you as Alterans."
Tannishar
04-03-2006, 21:32
"The Tannisharian data base has approximately 2.8 million addresses." The computer replied. "But we would not mind more."

"First off," Haruka said, "SeaQuest is composed of Alterans, like myself, and Draconains," she indicates the two with her, "and Furlings," she indicates her Furling compatriates. So, of course they aren't Alterans. How much brain power did it take you to figure that one out?

"Second thing, its SeaQuest's Address Database, not yours. So don't go trying to dictate what we can and can't do with it.

"Podex perfectus es."

She turned to the Tannishar representive and said, "I apologize for my outburst. This podex," she gestures at the Gate Builder representative, "just seems to get under my skin."

OOC: Patience is a virtue. NS isn't my life you know.

IC: "I'll use whatever language I deem you worthy of, bastard," Haruka growled.

She then worked up a bit of saliva and spat it at the Gate Builder representative.

"How can an arrogant pig such as yourself even consider possibly gaining friends? All you'll get are gold-diggers after your technology and not true allies at all."

OOC: Check. Your move, TGB.
The Gate Builders
05-03-2006, 01:16
[I know, but that has less effect when I see that you were updating your storefront in the gap between posts here.]

Jove laughed as the saliva bounced off a small personal shield.

"That stuff's a biohazard, false one. Careful where you spit. So unhygienic, and most unpleasant."
Tannishar
05-03-2006, 01:20
Things had gotten out of control. The Tannisharians in the room made their way out quietly and waited for the two parties to sort things out them selves.
SeaQuest
05-03-2006, 01:21
"We've rebuilt our civilization from the rubble left behind when the majority of the Alteran population artificially ascended, a perversion against nature itself. If we were meant to ascend at that point in time, we would have not needed artificial aides," she responds hotly, "By all rights, Altera is in SeaQuest's control, not yours. We were the ones who are returning her to her former glory, not you. Now, shut-up with all your god damn preaching gospel. If I didn't know any better, I would swear you worked for the freaking Ori as a Prior!"

The Furlings and Draconians shift themselves to get comfortable. They would stop the Major before she tried to get physical, but they knew it was healthy for her to vent her emotions instead of keeping them bottled up like the Gate Builder representative.
The Gate Builders

While the Major used her military training to dodge the blow, one of the Draconians moved to grab the Gate Builder's fist while the other held Haruka to prevent her from clawing the man's eyes out.

"Bad move, buster," the Draconian confronting the Gate Builder growled, "The Major was content to use words. You were the one who had to bring physical violence into the equation.

"Now," he asked, "will you return to your seat quietly, or do I have to make you sit down, bub?"

Meanwhile, the other Draconian was forcibly removing Major Haruka from the room.

OOC: Hmm, hitting a lady. Big no-no, TGB. Your character kind of just made the Draconians and Furlings mad. Trust me, a Draconian is not the kind of being you want mad at you (one reason why: teeth).

"Every team that is sent through the Gate is made up of many specialties," was the hissed reply, "I have yet to meet a team that didn't have a geologist. And I don't doubt you expect a team of five to have every expertise under the sun, don't you? I have been on the same team for years. My friends and I handle different aspects of whatever we encounter. The Major handles military aspects and I handle the more diplomatic, geological, and archeological aspects, for example.

"Now, will you take your seat and allow our hosts to return so we can continue this meeting?"

05-03-2006, 20:42
The Draconian raised his left eye ridge.

"Lizard. Is that the best you can come up with, youth? I've heard far worse in all my centuries of existance," he said with a snort, "what's next? You going to start trying to impune my ancestry? Save it, bub. Nothing you do is going to get under my skin. I've had to deal with far more arrogant fools in my time, you are no different."

One of the Furlings sighed.

"Coward," she called at the retreating Gate Builder's back, "looks like when the going gets rough, the Gate Builders get to hiding. What are you afraid of continuing the conference for?"
The Gate Builders
05-03-2006, 21:12

Jove smirked, turned, and walked to the gate room.

05-03-2006, 21:18
The Draconian that had been talking to the Gate Builder sighed.

He asked the Furling who had called the Gate Builder a 'coward' for running away, "Can you believe that guy?"

"No, professor. I can't."

The other Furling spoke up, "We weren't doing anything agressive. He's the one who made the move to strike the Major. All we did was save his worthless life."

"I know, I know. Some people just don't appreciate it when you save their life."

The last sentance was spoken loud enough to carry down the hall to the Gate Builder through the still open door.
The Gate Builders
05-03-2006, 21:21
Jove stopped.

I should just keep walking. They don't have a clue, obviously.

He turned around again, and approached the Furlings.

"I'm wearing a shield generator. The major would just have hurt herself, a lot. Now, if you don't mind, I have to go. My report will not be positive."

He activated the auto-dialing device on his wrist, and walked to the gate room, turned and sneered slightly just before stepping through the event horizon.
SeaQuest
05-03-2006, 21:23
The Draconian and the Furlings followed and watched as he went through the Gate.

However, before he stepped through, the Draconian asked him, "You tried to punch her. How did you think she would react, let alone the rest of us?"
The Gate Builders
05-03-2006, 21:25
There was one thought in Jove's head as he stepped out of the gate in the Vis Uban gate room.

I'm going to have to do something about these SeaQuestians.
SeaQuest
05-03-2006, 21:32
The Draconian turned to the Furlings as the Gate deactivated and said, "We can only try to get through. No guarantee we'll succeed in getting any sense through their thick skulls."

"Agreed. Should we go find where the Doctor dragged the Major off to so she could cool her jets, Prof?"

"I don't see why not."

The Tannisharian people walked back into the conference room happy that no blood had been spilled. "Well that was unpleasant." One of the commanders said as he walked in. "We never expected a hostile confrontation this early."

The Professor nodded his scaled head in agreement as he walked back into the room with all the others behind him.

"Agreed," he said, "oh, before I forget, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Professer Slan'Tarig," he shrugs, "sorry, can't shake hands as of the claws and all. Never really found reason to trim them."

"Its no problem what so ever." the person replied. "By the way I am Marve. I'm one of the Star Gate team leaders. And what is it with you and that delegate?"

"Ehh," the Professor shrugged, "I don't know what it is with those guys. Try to be nice to a person and they spit in your face, figuratively speaking of course.

"Good thing I stepped in when things started to get ugly as I highly doubt that guy was wearing a personal shield as he claimed. There was no visual evidence to support such a claim when the Major, uh, hacked a lugie(sp?) at him.

"We don't know much about Gate Builders except its a nation composed of Alterans, like the Major, that refuses to acknowledge any Alteran's outside their nation as 'true' Alterans, as they put it.

"But, I've been to Altera. I've seen the tech and I know the hardship's the modern Alterans of SeaQuest have had to put up with over the last ten-thousand years."

The Professor scratched his chin in thought for a moment before responding, "Actually, I don't think we ever left the alliance. Of course, I rarely payed attention to international politics before I joined this team with the Major."
