Antanjyl Slave Market (PT)

OOC: If you can conceivably get in touch with Antanjyl or her slavery vessels(Which move around Europe and Africa, along with some sifting through parts of North America) then you can conceivably become part of Antanjyl's Slave Market, whether through buying or selling. Usually this entails a small merchant outpost for the market, but you can RP it as however you would like to do business. Eventually it will grow and expand with our cultural Influence.

Located within the depths of the frozen North, the Isolated nation of Antanjyl has long been a raider of slaves, wiping entire cities out in their yearning for this most precious of resources. As of late their ships have sailed throughout the Pacific, going as far as Southern Africa to bring ships full of these people to them. Along with this, they are also purchasing slaves from other nations, and selling them to their distant counterparts all in the hopes of turning some small profit over these people's misfortune.
Truly a noble endeavor indeed.
Word had reached Almohed that a slave trade market was booming in the unknown West. Many slave ships, under the strict supervision of His Majesty, began gathering native peoples of conquered regions onto slave ships.
The first ship set off from the northernmost of the King James Islands. It was not far to The Scandinvans, and the captains had heard it was only another day's sailing to the icy waters of the land of Antanjyl. That was their destination. There they would sell slaves in this far off land, so that His Majesty would have no worries of rebel uprisings, for the most part.
The first ship began its trek, after this the Captain noted, the trip to Antanjyl would become normal procedure.

After passing so close to the territories of The Scandinvans, the slave ships from Almohed would eventually come across a number of unmarked black ships, which would begin to close as the largest of which suddenly opened it's sail. If the captain knew of Antanjyl's military coat of arms, he would immediately recognise that the four hands grasping a gold ring, with a large eye in the center. It was the Antanjylese Naval fleet, and the lead ship slowly approached as the others stood back.
As they approached, the captain himself, wearing the signature blackened armor of the Empire, rose from the bowels of the somewhat large ship and stood by, waiting for them to come to a halt. With such a large number of ships coming towards the port of Kinshash, it was always best to make sure what was going on. Already, a small ship was sent back to inform the port city of the possibility of an attack, or perhaps possibility to begin trade.
The ship slowed down considerably, the Captain steered as to not hit the other ships. He did not know whom these black clad soldiers were, but they did not look like pirates, but more like a cohesive military unit. Perhaps they were mercenaries, but he would rather be on the safe side, than inadvertantly start another war for Almohed to fight.
The Captain called out to the black ships, "Ho! We are from the Damar Kingdom of Almohed on our way to the land of Antanjyl! Where be ye from that you might disturb our merchant's trek?" The Captain cried out in Latin, which he figured to be a universal language, for the time of English to become the standard language of commerce had yet to come.

[If by a Past Tech Slave Market, then nope, and should you really be surprised? Its roughly the 1400s technologically.]
The captain looked over at one of his men and exchanged a few words before shouting back, "Ho! We appologise for this inconvenience! We were just checking to make sure you were not invaders! We rarely get ships from the Damar Kingdom! Please, allow us to escort you to the port!" He shouted back in Latin, though the main language in Antanjyl was Antanjylian, Latin was by and large also used, primarily for trade.
After a few seconds, the man pulled forth a horn and blew into it, releasing a deep hollow sound as the ships pulled away and continued to idly wait, as the lead ship itself began to move forward towards the waiting port. The massive city of almost over five hundred thousand awaited them, not even counting the enormous slave population, which would only rise with the merchandice from the Damar Kingdom.
[OOC: So this basically pre-dates the events of our little dust-up?]
OOC: Past Tech is set in past, it's world which is about in 1450.
If you can get a ship down to Aust i woul;d be glad to trade.

The Frozopian ship pushed through the Frozen waters, and finally the Lord Damien allowed himself a sigh of relief: They had reached their target. As the Frozen cliffs appeared over the horizon, Damien could not help but compare it to the cliffs of Frozopia.
Lord Damien had plans. Plans that would make him rich. Far richer than those fools heading to Aust. For when they had spent the money and time capturing slaves, they would realise slaves are not valuable as they thought: There will be too much competition from various lords, while at the same time the lords will have to feed and maintain the slaves.
So they will sell them. Cheap as possible, anything to get rid of them which is where Damien would step in. Buying the slaves for nearly nothing, he would be able to sell them to a people few have heard of: Those from the land of Antanjyl.
Hopefully Lord Damien could then get massive profit, by selling them at a far higher price than they were bought for. All Lord Damien needed was ships and money, both of which he had obtained from his fathers inheritance.
Right now he just needed to secure a contract: An easy task. He hoped.

OOC: This is completely secret, but Antanjyl has a large slave population and sustains itself in this enviornment. Mmm meat rations. Does Frozopia know of Flintlock rifles?
As the Frozopian vessels finally appeared in the Antanjylian waters, a trio of three blackened scouting vessels would eventually assist them in navigating to the huge port of Kinshash, where they could trade their goods for whichever pleased them, whether gold, silver, platinum, priceless jems, or any number of things, including weaponry. They would also meet the Lord of Kinshash, in the massive tower rising up from the city's center, if they planned on forging some long lasting trade pact that is..
Frozopia

OOC: We know of the rifles, but they are still pretty experimental.
IC:
Damien and the other Frozopians looked around the unfamiliar city, warily glancing at anyone who seemed to be armed. It seemed to the Frozopians that many of the people were quelled, but no one voiced their oppinion on why.
In the group was the Frozopian diplomat Simon, a representative of the King. This was Frozopia's official reason for being here, but of course Damien had ulterior motives for his own wealth. Few others volunteered for such a unpopular task.
Looking forward to meeting the Lord of the city in the mysterious tower, the Frozopians remained largely silent........

The soldiers in Kinshash walked around as if they had nothing to fear, swords hanging limply at their sides. One group in particular would catch their eyes, as that group of ten men were holding flint rifles, a recent gift from the Scandinvans. Currently there were only fifteen thousand of the things being used for ocmbat, and a significantly smaller portion used for trade. As the group were led through the mazelike streets to the tower, there was a sudden group of thunderclaps from behind the building followed by a cheer. Those escorting the Frozopians seemed not to notice as they brought them through the massive front gates.
The Lord of Kinshash was a tall man, standing almost six feet, two inches, especially tall for this period of time. He was rather thin though, and had long white hair tied behind his back, and a large black and red robe as he accepted these guests inside of the massive tower, which was four rooms wide. The interior was decorated with numerous large bronze and gold demonic figures, with outstretched wings, all clutching identicle swords, staring towards the center of the room where the meeting would take place.
"Greetings. I am the Lord of Kinshash, Theravin Zeilheim." The man said quietly as he pointed at a plush, chinchilla fur chair across from a large desk he was seated behind. In front of him was a piece of parchment with runic symbols on it, "I hear you are from a very distant land indeed..." He muttered quietly, speaking in the language which they seemed to understand.

04-03-2006, 22:35
OOC: I've just realised. Flintlock is a little to advanced for the current time period (invented in 1630, whereas this Rp goes from 1500-1600 max), so you better go kill those damn Scandinavians for selling you air.
IC:
"I am the Lord Damien of Frozopia, and this is the diplomat, a representative of the king: Simon. We are hear to talk about future relations with your great nation, and other matters. We have brought you a gift also."
4 Frozopians dropped a crate, which they then opened to reveal a large plate mail suit of armour, heavily encrusted with various precious stones and composed largely of silver. For ceremonial purposes only.
"Perhaps we can come to a agreement over trade? We have heard this nation has a strong slave market. Maybe we can make some exchanges?"
Antanjyl
04-03-2006, 22:45
OOC: Ah well. From this point on any mention of flintlock weaponry will simply be relating to muskets.
Theravin's eyes seemed to brighten as he took note of the amor, though he did not rise. Though the talk of slaves also caused a slight change in him, as his expression turned to that of a smile. Foreigners peddling slaves would do very well in fact, and as he slowly pulled the parchment from the table and brought forth another scroll, he let off a thoughtful hum.
"We are always willing to expand and heighten our current slave market. In a way I suppose other than the plentiful iron and other metals, all we have to offer are the slaves in this little frozen wasteland we call home." He said quietly, looking at one of the demonic statues as he leaned back and pulled forth a quill and ink holder, letting out a slight chuckle, "We are more than happy to trade with you in this merchandise. What exactly will you be trading for?"
Frozopia
04-03-2006, 23:04
Damien replied first.
"Hm......perhaps you would be interested in purchasing slaves? We have a very promising invasion occuring soon in the lands of Aust. Im sure Austian slaves will make good workers, would you be interested in buying some? Maybe in exchange for gold? Wood? Food?"
Simon frowned and cut in abruptly.
"We are not here to peddle slaves! We are here to offer a friendly co-operative treaty or maybe that of a friendly alliance. Although we have never crossed swords, Frozopia is entering a time of conflict that will change the Pacific forever. So I hope that you will also ally with us against the Austians: You need not take swords against them but we ask that you cease any assistance for them. We know they are a fair distance from this land, but they try to get allies where they can. The stench of their desperation is sickening."
Antanjyl
05-03-2006, 00:13
"We have a surplus of gold, a gift from our allies. So any trade in buying slaves will be in gold." Theravin said with a smile to Damien as he straightened his posture, he in actuality had no idea who Aust really was, "We have no real idea who these Austians are. I take it by Pacific you mean the expanse of ocean beyond the continent of the primitives?"
The Lord then turned to Simon, continuing to smile, "From my understanding, we are far too distant for such an alliance with this nation to ever become fruitful to us. They are months, perhaps even years away from us. However, along with this trade, we would also require some incentive to not helping these little heathens you speak so strongly of. Should we find any, we will slay and enslave them for you if you can accomodate us financially for this type of thing. After all, such distant nations must have at least something to offer to us."
OOC: Hehe a fair distance.
Frozopia
05-03-2006, 00:37
"We have skins, we have slaves, we have timber, we have many things. Except for maybe grain. Perhaps when the conquest of Aust is done we can discuss a price? It will depend on the difficulty of the mission, but hopefully we will capture thousands of slaves, for any job.
It is unpractical that you join us in this war, as sad as it is to say. I look forward to visiting this country once again."
Simon, eager to move the conversasion on, began:
"Tell me. What are the lands about here like. We had relations with a nation to the south of here, many years ago. Have you heard of the Philanchians?"
Antanjyl
05-03-2006, 01:16
OOC: Antanjyl has not mapped out most nation's territories. Not to mention currently their first world-wide cartography ships haven't returned yet.
"That would be most appreciated. I'm sure we can work out a beneficial trade for both of us. Grain however, is difficult to grow everywhere but our southernmost fringes. We are of course, expanding into the Western Continent even as we speak."
The man then turned to Simon once again and rubbed his chin thoughfully, "The lands around Kinshash? Though I suspect you mean throughout Antanjyl... Hmm, well they are harsh, mountainous, and usually snow covered. Not very good for crops, though on the mainland our territory gets by. We have enough lumber though to sustain us and our ships, along with more than enough iron. Anything else we receive through trade.
Philanchians? Hmm we don't really know too much about the South. Our journeys down there have been more or less uneventful." The Lord lied, as they were currently warring with numerous natives, "Perhaps they are further down the coast of the Western Continent? So far most of our contact has been with the Europe and parts of Africa. The Western Continent is more or less inhabited by primitive barbarians... Perhaps you can bring us a map?"
"You have heard of our land?" the captain asked. He did not figure that the north people would know of such a land so far south of this area. "Regardless, please guide us to where we may trade in your markets. We have brought 350 slaves to trade."
Antanjyl
05-03-2006, 21:44
"Oh... We've heard of the Damar Kingdom from rumors, though we've never sent many ships in that direction for some time. Though we have sent a group of ships to the southern edges of it to find out if theres anything valuable." The man said cautiously as he pointed a finger off into the distance, seemingly at some water, "Follow us to Kinshash. You can sell your slaves there! What, may I ask, do you plan to trade them for?!"
What do you have to offer? Gold is preferred, but being a northern country you may not have access to it, this we understand. But we know little of what you do have. We know that you must have fine sailing vessels, due to the rumours that your empire is almost entirely sea based. We have fine vessels ourselves, but we shall see. We shall surely see.
Frozopia
05-03-2006, 22:46
"We have few maps as it is, and none of the lands to the south of here. Maybe I was a bit rash when I said we could discuss prices later. It would make sense to confirm a deal now the later. How much do you pay for a slave? In gold I mean. And how many would you purchase?"
Antanjyl
06-03-2006, 00:46
Almohed
"Of course the slaves will need to be checked over by the Lord of Kinshash. Depending on their quality, we shall see... Though you are correct, we lack much in the way of gold. However, we have recently aquired a large amount of such from one of our allies. So for that amount of slaves I'm sure we can come over with an agreement."
Frozopia
OOC: By the "South" he meant North America. Hmm no idea how much currency is usually used in procuring a slave.
"If they are young and healthy, we will give you a quarter of a pound of gold. Children are worth half that, but we are sure you could somehow manage to fit enough of them as to offset such a thing..." The Lord said with a calm, reassuring smile, "For every able bodied slave, which lack any temperment problems... We will offer to buy them all. The old and sickly will not be taken in by us, so you should probably dispose of them yourselves."
Frozopia
06-03-2006, 23:20
Damien nodded. "That is acceptable, although we may have to charge more if there is difficulty getting the slaves."
OOC: Yeah north america is south of you.....
Antanjyl
07-03-2006, 00:40
OOC: Not Kinshash however.
"Well in that case perhaps we should lend you some of our representatives to help barter with the price during the slaving process?"
Frozopia
07-03-2006, 18:05
Damien shook his head. "I think we will stretch to those prices."
"Enough of this Damien." SImon finally cut in. "It is time that we leave."

08-03-2006, 03:01
"Hmm... Have a safe voyage back. We are always willing to negotiate for more though, for more prized speciments. We wish you luck in... Aust was it?" The Lord stood up and bowed as the doors behind them opened, "But if you would like, you are more than able to spend the night before you leave. Consider it a gift if you'd like. After all, another day in a town before you go sailing off to sea for such a long time may do you both well."
Frozopia
08-03-2006, 21:20
"Yes I think we should stay the night. My captain has to purchase some supplies anyways. Where shall we stay?"

11-03-2006, 10:20
"Ah please feel free to use the guest chambers upstairs." The Lord said with a bow as he whistled, "If you need anything, please feel free to ask. You are my humble guests after all."
With that, a group of young women appeared from one of the doors to escort the Frozopians to their rooms.

By the time morning had come, the women were gone and they were given free outfits a fine silk to take with them. It too was a gift from the lord of Kinshash, along with ten kegs of Antanjylian Alchoholic Staples, refined in this frozen enviornment to keep the people warm. Along with this were three men who were ordered to assist in the slaving, or at least in telling the Frozopians which would be worse more to the Antanjylians, so that everyone could benefit more from the future interaction.

There were 30 ships in the rough harbour, constructed barely months ago and still well bellow most harbours standards. Still it served its purpose, and Damien's slaves would reach their destination: Antanjyl.
Damien knew he was going to be rich, but what he was more pleased about was that he did not have to make the long journey through the oceans. For the slaves, he cared little.
5000 goblins, 25 Orcs and grobbles crammed in ever free bit of space there was. The gold earned would make Damien rich, rich beyond his wildest dreams. Which was great because Damien had blown almost all his inheritance on the slaves: It was a risky investment, but it would pay off.
One of the men blew a horn. It was time to leave harbour. The 30 ships departed into the frozen waters, disappearing into the mist.....
Antanjyl
08-04-2006, 17:03
The port of Kinshash was much changed from the time that Damien last arrived at the city; as a war taking place in Valgardia has caused most of Antanjyl's larger cities to heighten their defenses even more than they originally were. With massive black towers now lining the coast, every third one lit at night, the Antanjylians kept watch over their precious ocean. With ten thousand more soldiers in the large port city, any threats to Antanjyl's stability could be easily thwarted.
The black ships which were sailing around Kinshash, fishing vessels and scout ships alike, were likewise subtly changed, though mainly in the way that the crew aboard these ships acted. The tension was not much, but it was indeed there.
The Antanjylians also had the three slave bargainers which were previously sent with Damien and his fellows to assist with telling him just how much the man would rake in. From their estimates of the unusual stock of the slaves being brought in, Damien would have much to rejoice about, as the orcs themselves, large and strong, would be worth two or three times as much as the average human, if not more! The goblins would also be worth much, as they could do things which only child slaves were suitable to do, due to size constraints.
Frozopia

The 3 men were generally shunned on the ship, avoided by the rest of the crew who distrusted outsiders never mind non-Frozopians, but they seemed not to care.
After all, they have the comforts of their own cabin.Thought the head captain Kralox, a Frozopian of Toophish (human) origin, hence explaining his extremely unusual name.
The journey had been extremely bitter for the crews, one ship being struck by a plague that killed all humans but not the goblins, and was thus abandonned. Kralox would not risk his men on that ship, and so the trapped Goblins would probably drift till they died of thirst.
Another ship was sunk, but 1 in every 4 of the men aboard survived due to some quick rescue work done by Kralox's own ship The Blood Hound, the rest suffering the bottom of the ocean and what other horrors it held.
But the journey was over! Much to the mens relief. They cared little about the intimidating black towers, when land was in sight and the comforts it offered.....

08-04-2006, 20:38
The three men could in actuality care less, as they themselves had quite a large amount of racism towards the frozopians, but were not vocal about it, as they knew too well how distant they were from Antanjyl. In anycase, the Antanjyl government would no doubt pay them for the service for the Slave Market, especially with the slaves. They may not have been Austian, but they were obviously much more unique, and not a little bit impressive. The men made sure to keep Damien's spirits up as well, and kept calling the slaves an exotic cargo.
As the ship came into dock, the three were among the first to disembark and speak with the large number of armored guards waiting at the immense harbor. Behind the rows of black armored men, there was a sudden cheer as the three men delivered the news, and a path was cleared through the town to where the, what they expected to be Austian, slaves to be held. The fact that they were not Austian did not matter, and once the strange slaves were paraded through the city, they would be generally looked upon by almost everyone present, and demoralised slowly but surely over the next few months.
"It looks like they've returned..." Said the lord of Kinshash as he walked over to the forefront to greet the men aboard the ships, mainly the captains or Damien, "How glorious."
Frozopia
08-04-2006, 21:04
OOC: Oops sorry Damien isnt onboard, his representative is the head captain Kralox. Damien stayed in Toophium.
IC:
Kralox departed the ship, heading straight towards Lord of Kinshash, distinctive with both his clothes and his stance. Kneeling as a non-noble Frozopian was supposed to do when ever he first met a lord, he spoke clearly:
"I am Captain Kralox, overseer of this mission, selected by Damien. And who might you be?"
Antanjyl
09-04-2006, 20:52
The tall, white haired man looked down at Kralox and smirked, raising him forward with a single hand. He did it as if it were nothing, bringing the captain's head upwards in front of everyone, who looked on at the scene quietly. As the sun began to set, large fires began to spark in the blackened towers lining the massive port, almost as if on cue with this single action...
"Come now, there is no need for such formailities. I am Theravin, the Lord of Kinshash, chosen among the Holy Emperor." He said with a grin, looking up at the ship as the three men that had accompanied the sailors to the distant West disappeared into the wall of soldiers, "I take it Damien did not want to come again? Is he unwell, or perhaps he feels I am unable to accomodate a man of his stature?"
There was almost a bite in Theravin's words, but this was quickly quieted as he turned and began speaking in Antanjylian to the group of soldiers, the harsh language eventually breaking way to something quieter and more elegant. There were a few words exchanged before Theravin walked forward and did a small bow of his own, his long ornate white silk robe blowing behind him.
"I see you have some slaves on-hand. They will be counted by the slave masters, but in the meantime, come to my citadel where we may talk of the price of this unusual exchange."
Not waiting for a response, he walked forward, as a line was quickly forged through the city, leading through the winding city to the blackened immense tower. There was now a large flame burning at the top, due to the war, making it easy to see despite the winding, maze-like road. The slaves themselves would be taken far inland to the massive slave camps.

"Damien was busy pacifing the Toophish lands from which we took these slaves. Although most of the country has fallen to Frozopian control, there are still bands of goblins and orcs in the wilder parts of the country. He is also wishes to remain a short distance from Frozopia: Soon we expect slaves to be shipping in from Aust and Damien needs to be there to purchase them."
Kralox gave the answer formally before barking a couple of orders at his crew and following.

12-04-2006, 15:09
"So Kralox, if you were to give me a definable answer of how many more slaves I can expect after this initial group, I can inform my treasurer of Damien's payment..." Theravin said quietly as he reached under his large desk and pulled out a piece of parchment, with a large amount of Antanjylian writing streaming down it, "Hmm... The three men onboard the ship have told me great things of these creatures. They shall be suited for our new mines."

OOC: Toops. I'd like to add it to my number of slaves in the Empire for future reference. ^_~

"Toops is not a highly populated area, but you can expect another group much the same as this." One of Kralox's men gave him some parchment, and Kralox read it slowly: He was literate but still not very strong with reading nor writing.
"Although we lost many during the journey, we have got 4500 goblins, 23 Orcs and we are not sure how many Grobbles. Probably about 2000. We also plan to expand further into the rest of Asia, so human slaves are on the agenda for the year ahead."
Antanjyl
12-04-2006, 15:44
"Excellent. For your patronage, I would like to give you a bit extra in the way of payment... Think of it as a gift for your continued support of Antanjyl's slave market..." Theravin said with a faint smile as he stood up and shouted in Antanjylian to one of the guards, who opened a side door, "I take it you'd like to be paid in gold, correct?"
Frozopia
12-04-2006, 15:47
"Indeed." Kralox nodded. "Gold will be acceptable."
Antanjyl
12-04-2006, 16:01
"Hmm how much would you expect for these slaves?" He said with a smile as they walked into the room and down a staircase, eventually to a heavy iron set of doors, "A large portion of our gold from slaving is held here, so I'm sure we can pay the price."
Frozopia
12-04-2006, 16:07
OOC: Hm. Whats the price of a slave, I have no idea...... Ok I guess, here we goes (Please tell me if I am miles off).
IC:
"For the Goblins, we want 1/5th of their weight in gold. For the Grobbles 1/10th and the Orc's 1/3rd and an extra 100Kg(whatever medieval measurements you use). This would cover the expense of shipping and bartering for the slaves originally."
Antanjyl
12-04-2006, 16:30
((It is a bit off, if you're counting pure gold, which is all that Antanjyl uses for trade))
"Hmm it appears a bit steep, but with distance and the type of slaves included, I'm willing to oblige completely. In fact, I'll give you an extra twenty pounds of gold, as a gift from Kinshash to yourselves. The purest gold in Antanjyl. Just make sure to keep the slaves coming to us, we have urgent need for them in the coming years."
