Prime Minister - David Cameron of the Conservative Party.

BBC NEWS

Today the Defence Minister Dr Liam Fox unveiled an upgrade plan for all current F2 Typhoons, also known as the "Eurofighter". To bring them up-to-date with the current standards required for a Fifth Generation Fighter, thrust vectoring engines will be installed on all current planes, and any planes that are yet to be delivered. The MBDA Meteor BVRAAM (Beyond Visual Range Anti Air Missile) will also be installed on all planes, one year earlier than previously planned. The MoD is now looking at UCAVs (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles) to replace the aging Tornados currently used by the RAF

The UK is currently neutral in the Russia-China situation, but we would like to stress that we consider Russia a great trading and political party, who is essential to the stability of Europe, and the world.

Communiqué to London
With the socialist government ousted, and Phillip VI fully enthroned in Madrid, the Spanish Armada is looking for expansion, and first of most is the expansion of the potential for air projection. Therefore, the Armada is interested in a nuclear ship that will provide heavy tonnage to the ~30,000 ton Buque de Proyección Estratégica, and the 13,400 ton R-11 Príncipe de Asturias. With the United Kingdom's future carrier program flourishing, Spain is interested in the transfer of some of the UK's older designs. This would be the HMS Ark Royal R07, which is expected to be replaced by 2015 anyways. We feel she would be of much greater service with the Armada, and we are prepared to offer the equivalent of €6 billion over a period of five years, while the R07 would become the R-12 Duque del Lébano by 2012 [payment would be completed in 2015. We thank London for its time and hope to hear good news.

Greetings, we have a rather touchy subject to adress with you. As we have noticed, you have just finished decommisioning the last of the swiftsure class Nuclear attack submarines. As our naval presence expands in the perisan gulf, we need something to counter the Iranian Kilo class subs, and have come to you about purchasing the four of the class, the HMS Splendid, the HMS Spartan, HMS Sovereign, and finally the HMS Superb. We understand the discussion of the purchasing of nuclear ships is a touchy subject, but as you may know, american-assisted nuclear research has been ongoing since 1992 to power our nation into the 21st century. If the transaction is approved, we would like to have your men train naval officers and crew on use of the ships systems, survivability, operation, and overal useage. We wish for a quick reply, as this is of dire importance.

To Spain:
HMS Ark Royal is to become an amphibious assault ship upon its decommisioning in the aircraft carrier role. It is to be used in the LPH role (Landing Platform, Helicoptors).
To Saudi Arabia:
HMS Spartan and and Splendid will be remaining in service, however the sale of HMS Sovereign, Superb, and Sceptre can be negotiated.
To Italy:
We currently have no interest in supplying Italy with weapons due to the current situation.

Japan is interested in acquiring a CATOBAR CVF variant similar to that being deployed by France. Current requirement is for 3-4 vessels, with the first two being constructed by UK and/or French firms (expected deliveries in 2018 & 2021), and the remainder built in Japan starting in 2017. The contract for the first two vessels is currently valued at $5.5 billion.

OOC: The CVF design has some modularity regarding aircraft facilities. The UK uses a STOVL design intended for the F-35B, but there were options for a STOBAR (Short Take-Off But Arrested Recovery), which uses a ski-jump for takeoff and arrestor wires for landing, and would use a version of the Eurofighter Typhoon. The CATOBAR (Catapult Assisted Take-Off But Arrested Recovery) is what the French wanted to operate their Rafale and US F-35C aircraft, and uses catapults and arrestor wires just like the US carriers. The UK also intends to eventually upgrade their STOVL units to this standard. This is what Japan wants, as it allows for a greater variety of aircraft as well as higher payloads.

IC:
Yes, we have long been looking for aircraft carriers, and found the UK's CVF to be an excellent evolutionary design with high growth potential and features fitting, and often exceeding, our requirements. This project is of extremely high priority to the Maritime Self Defense Force, and we are willing to offer up to $6 billion for the initial two carriers, plus $2.5 billion in components and assistance for the remaining two. We can afford to wait until 2020. However, our sources suggest that the first could be completed by 2018, and we would prefer the unit by then, if possible.
