Exodus of the Cassiopeian Democratic Party

(OOC: Since I've been ignored by Cassiopeia [for dubious reasons], and in a recent RP the Cassiopeians are under threat of genocide, I've decided just to pull them out once and for all to give closure.

Cassiopeia: If you read this, know that since your population is empirewanked anyway, the exodus of half a billion people who are rebelling anyway will not make a difference.)

They came at dawn. We had always known it would end that way.

Not many escaped. When the droids broke down the door, we were caught unawares. I was one of the lucky ones.

Those who were caught were put on a mock trial, and paraded through the streets. To be exiled from their home forever.

Chimaera had ursurped control when the tyrant dissappeared. It was then we learned that their insanity was leading us all to their doom.

We had to flee.

We gathered at one of the outer worlds, a final gathering of the leaders. The ships were gathered, and many more bought through backwater channels.

The prisons were breached. Many died that fateful day, in the rescue of countless comrades. Their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

We cast aside the ashes of our past and left, to be reborn.
- Memoirs of a Resistance Member

On a small, insignificant world, a great fleet had been assembled. A vast assortment of ships - freighters, passenger liners, even aging star destroyers dragged from junkyards. The ships together contained over five hundred million people, of different races.

"This is the Phoenix all ships signal readiness."

A flurry of acknowledgement and ready signals echoed through the makeshift comms systems.

"We've got contacts on the radar, Captain!" "We've been found! Move! Move! Move!"

The ships jumped into hyperspace, to the only place on autopilot: The Milky Way.

When the ships discovered where they had ended up, the reactions were mixed. The normally gay chatter had suddenly fallen silent as news was passed down as to where they were.

Finally, one captain broke the silence. "Oh gods, we've landed in the backyard of the regime's enemies..."

"Captain, we've lost hyperspace engines!"

"Damn. The fast jump must have been too much for the old things. How are the rest of the fleet?"

"Most of 'em have lost jump capability too, and a couple didn't make it."

"How are comms?"

"Serviceable. Some of the crew reckon they'd be able to rig a one-shot hyperwave broadcast if they cannibalise the damaged jump drives."

"They can't be fixed?"

"Nope. If we tried it now it'd just tear straight through the hull. We haven't got the reactor power to expand the bubble enough - none of the others do, either."

"Well, we haven't any choice. Give the word to sacrifice a couple of hyperspace rigs."

A distress signal was sent three times - it was all they could afford.
