New Allanean President in power

ANN, Liberty-City

Today, after winning a gruelling quadrupartisan race - the Ambivalentira have opted not to run this year - Republican candidate Frederick C. Atchinson will be inaugurated as President of the United States of Allanea, taking over from incumbent Klotchovsky, who has served his country for three full terms. We will now broadcast the President's speech live from the Congressional Hall, Liberty City.

Friends, Citizens, Allaneans!

Allanea has a long history. It is not always a good history. Sometimes it is tragic, as with the Allanean Civil War. Sometimes, it is shameful - as with the long years of the Sentient Peoples' occupation. Allanea has sunk to the very bottom of disgrace with the One-Day War and the War of the Wolf - and we have recovered honor and pride on the muddy fields of the Last Edolian War and the snowy passes of Antanjyl, in the darkness of space of the Capsule Colonies.

As you, I am painfully aware that we have not exactly had a spotless past. But unlike the enemies of our nation, I believe that the past we all share is also the foundation of what I believe is a better future. The Allaneans have been cast upon the anvil of history, and beaten with strength and vigour - and, as a blade forged by a master smith is adjusted to the service of its purpose, so were the Allaneans better adjusted by their misery to the true purpose of this nation - to be forever a beacon to others not merely of wealth and power - though, blessed be the Good Lord, we have plenty of both just now - but of human dedication to liberty.

Remember - at a time long past, a foreign leader has once said about the United States: 'Allanea has no arms, and it must have none. It has no army, and it must have none.' Today, as hundreds of thousands of Antanjylians, Bandurians, and others perished before Allied arms, do you think this same leader's prophecy have come true? Do you think that this nation, which has shed the oily wet skin of Socialist-Ambivalentira tyranny with bayonet and rifle is a nation that 'has no arms' and will have none?

I believe that today, I can look at Allanea - from the tea plantations of the Hash, to the busy streets of Neo-Dallas, from the banks of Allanean Mississippi to the shores of Severo-Zapad, from Haven to the Midlands - and I can say that Allanea has recovered from the disasters that befell her. It took a long time, and it took lots of work, but I believe, fully and truly, that we now have recovered. This speech is dedicated to the force that caused that recovery.

There is a saying in our nation, which is old and still true. It says: 'Guns don't kill people. People kill people.' Today, I will tell you what this means. It means that, in all affairs of men, nothing of importance is ever achieved by a tool, or by force, or by money. All those are but tools. History is not shaped by economic currents, or by ortillery strikes, or by rifles. History is shaped - people are killed - bridges are built - liberty is defended - by people..

Our people have proved that they can do all these - you can kill your foes. You can build your bridges. You can defend your liberty. It is this that is Allanea's greatest treasure - above all gold, coal, oil, uranium or land. Allanea's treasure is the Allaneans.

The biggest bulwark to protect Allanea is not the concrete bastions of Fort-Czapp, not the hulls of the Allanean Navy, not the rifles of the Marine Corps - it is the Allanean people.

It is to you that I dedicate this speech. The fursuiters, the Warsies, the Trekkies, the roleplayers, the Scientologists, the Sirithilists, the marijuana growers, the sheep-shaggers, the genderqueers, the wargamers, the hunters, the train modelers, the Quake fans, and everybody I forget to mention - this speech, and this Presidency, will be all dedicated to you.

I love you all.

May God Bless Allanea.

The Government of Kahanistan has noted Allanea's valiant struggles for the causes of human rights abroad, for the welfare and peace of all oppressed peoples. We hope that President Atchinson will carry on President Klotchovsky's noble work.

Were it not for our own wars with the CAD imperialists, we would have joined you in Antanjyl, and aided in the end of the barbaric mass murders that were taking place, practically under our very noses.

May Allanea continue its righteous path in the name of liberty. We are interested in pursuing further diplomatic relations with Allanea. We may have different economic systems, but we share a love of personal freedom.

Signed,
Margaret Delray,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

Dear Comrades!

While we do not endorse your economic system, we would wish to establish diplomatic communications with you. Would you deign to accept an embassy exchange with the United States of Allanea?

I had hoped you would ask. Is there a specific official we should contact regarding embassy exchanges? (OOC: read: do you have an embassy exchange thread?) We accept diplomatic relations with nations regardless of their economic systems, as long as they have a healthy respect for human rights.

We are already considering several Kahanistanians who would qualify as an ambassador, trying to determine whom to appoint. Hopefully we will have arrived at a decision by the time we receive a response.

Official Response to the DSRK

We will happily send out, as an emissary to the Democratic Soviet Republic, Ambassador Shlomo Aviyahu, Col., USAF, ret. He is a most excellent man, so far having served his nation with honor.

Further, we will be glad to accept delegates from the Democratic Soviet Republic of Kahanistan.

The Republic of Agonnoga would like to congratulate the new President of your nation. As a "present", we would like to invite you to establish diplomatic relations with our country- perhaps an embassy exchange would be in order?

A Boeing 747 took off for Allanea, carrying an unassuming Kahanistanian woman of about 45, indistinguishable from the rest of the passengers. Diplomats often traveled as inconspicuously as possible.

The plane landed in Liberty City, Allanea. The passengers disembarked, and one of them headed for the Allanean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with her Kahanistanian diplomatic passport and a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Please welcome Colonel April E. Madison, formerly of the Kahanistan Republic Guard. She is the new Kahanistanian ambassador to Allanea. We are thankful that your leadership has seen fit to overlook our economic policies in favor of peaceable diplomatic relations.

As for Mr. Aviyahu, he has been located to the new Allanean embassy in Kahanistan. It is our hope that this exchange will result in improved relations between our nations.
