Broken Glass: Rebellion on Alcor (FT) (ATTN GFFA) (Civil War)

Araol City, Alcor, Starenell

Mordecai sat at his holo-computer, reading news reports and mulling them over while chewing gum, a habit he was quite indulgent in. He worked all day looking at the news, and predicting things. He wrote a weekly column in the biggest Alcoran newspaper, and what he said was often right. Today he pulled up a report from Avalon, a rather scary one. “Prince” Tancred the leader of Starenell had just put another heavily restrictive law on the books. This was getting to be too much. Mordecai had some friends, some friends who were less reserved then he. They had already advocated that Alcor break away from Starenell peacefully, but their small movement was drowning in the wash of political factions on the planet. However, with Mordecai’s help, and political influence, they could do something.

One week later:

The small group of ten met in an abandoned bunker in the steaming jungles of Alcor. There were many such bunkers, and no one knew the precise location of all of them. They talked about old times for a while, under the rule of Julian. Then Mordecai cleared his throat “Okay, this is the deal. We are here to get Tancred to abdicate the throne and leave someone else in charge. If he listens, great, but we may need to win by force. To do this we need control of a few things. One, the militia, which will probably join us, if not all of it. Two, the naval force in orbit at Alcor. Neither of these will join us completely, but if we can get enough of them, along with the military supply depot, then we can size and possibly hold the planet. Who here thinks they can help with something?” People around the room spoke, and the group began forming ideas.

News Broadcast, Staric News Network:

Newsman Stefan Horst, the SNN’s main anchor announced “In today’s news, a group on Alcor, the political hotspot of the frontier is requesting that First Prince Tancred K’Tan, son of renowned Prince Julian K’Tan, abdicate the throne. A few months ago Julian stepped down leaving Tancred in a position many think he is not fit for. The group consists of many noted Alcoran politicians, along with other power figures of Alcor. Coverage continues in this exciting episode of free speech versus the crown.”

OOC: For now this is not major, people can join in for the rebels (Good) or my government (Evil), the rebels are going to lose but they will be transported to a safe nearby realm. This is going to become a much larger civil war soon. GFFA will have to wait a bit. Eventually you will know who to turn to but for now you might want to keep quiet whatever you do.

SNN News Broadcast

"Earlier today a group on Alcor called for First Prince Tancred K'Tan's abdication. Here is the statment"

"Hello fellow Alcorans, and fellow citizens of Starenell. I am here in peace, but I will not drop my cause until it is fulfilled.Prince Tancred has had an extremely dictatorial regime. He has negotiated with Chronosians, and done things his father would never have done. His oppression is unacceptable, and it must end. Our government is corrupt, filled with noble airheads appointed by Tancred. Tancred must abdicate, or we will fight."

"No royal response has yet come, but it is strongly anticipated."

Word of these events reaches the People's Acolytes, and they put it on their to do list....they like the rebels, but the Huntarian War may yet divert the Coriolanus Brigade, which left No Endorse.

Emperor Debeusec had been watching the news on a holo screen. "Interesting." A pale hand moved to the arm rest where a control panel was hidden. The whole system of Lakfakalae was now at his fingertips with a few buttons. He was shortly in contact with the AIA bureau. "What operatives do we have in Starenell?"

A gruff voice came back on the other end. "A human or two."

"Make sure they report in daily and keep us informed about what is happening in that nation."

"Yes your highness."

The link was clicked off and the Emperor rested back. "Yes this could be very interesting."

OOC: I hope you only have humans. I would be a little scared if you got a Dreegone operative in.

IC:

Tancred read the report, scoffing at the rediculous demands. He would never step down, unlike his weakling father. He would go to Alcor personally with The Shields, and his Chaos Fangs regiment, and cruch these upstarts to a pulp. Tancred began preparing orders to relocate both those units to Alocr, and also started a response to the rebels. He was the ruler. He would show the universe that he was incharge.

OOC: Tancred is a self-centered pocker. He has some major personality complexes that were seen as just being spoiled, but he is pretty insane and getting worse.

EDIT: Feel free to find out about the troop movements.

A drop of blood fell to the ground in front of the Dictator. Kneeling before the supreme ruler was a pathetic-looking man, clothed in rags and bleeding from the wrist. It was Riedran custom to cut yourself on the wrist when you approached His Omnipotence. "Speak" came the faint reply from the chair, and the man spoke. He was babbling on about the nation of Starenell and forcing the leader to abdicate. He went on like this for several minutes, and the Dictator cut him off. "So you want us to help with this forced abdication?" he asked, already knowing the answer. The man's head bobbed up and down rapidly, a smile spreading across his face. "Very well. Kill him." he directed to the red-clad guards flanking the chair. As the man was dragged out of the throne room, he spat before the Dictator. "Filthy revolutionaries, seeing the future in democracy. That road only lies to ruin or worse, elections and voting." The very thought sent a shudder down his spine. "Prepare the Army, General." The general nodded and strode southwards towards the barracks...

Upon the request of the Acolytes, the Internal Security Bureau sends a team to Starenell to investigate events...disguised as merchantmen and hoboes of sorts, they note the movements of the Government forces to Alcor. IC:

Tancred sat in the briefing room of the Chaos Biters. He had given them the tactical information, and incorporated his Knights into various units. Marius Roctiv would command half of the ground force, Tancred the other half, and Damarus Ythiel would command the Aerospace. Finally Varius Numanor would liason with the loyalist militia. The entire force would arrive within the week. Tancred also typed up a response, which he sent to all major news networks and was almost immediatly broadcasted from there.

Great People of Starenell, and people of the many nations. Yesterday a rebel group demanded that I abdicate the throne. My answer, is no. A very definite no. These rebels are insane, and if they do not cease their ridiculous outcry, I will be forced to detain them. I hope you are all well, and goodbye.

One of the ISB Agents in country, meanwhile, hacked into Staric military networks and began sifting through the reports and transmissions he found. Transmitting copies of them over a secure channel to another ISB agent, who then forwarded it to Los Angeles, the data revealed startling troop movements involving the Prince, and other units ominously named with the word "Chaos" in them.

ISB HQ in Los Angeles was pleased, and ordered them to continue feeding data to them.

Tancred stood on the bridge of the Chaos Biters Flagship, the Corsair Class Fang. The ship entered the Alcor system and Tancred opened a general comm channel. "Rebels on Alcor, this is your first and final warning. Turn yourselves in the local autorities. I am placing Alcor under maritial law. You have one hour to comply." Tancred turned around to his unit commanders and told them their jobs. Tancred would land and enforce maritial law with some Aerospace support while the rest of the unit would stay back as a reserve.

Mordecai looked at the people around, the happiness of what had been just a small gathering before soon changed into seriousness as Tancred's message palyed over the speakers. Peopel mumured, and milled around, confused about what to do. Mordecai jumped up to the podium that had been used for speeches and began shouting "Ok, calm down. Everyone get to your assigned base, bring your families. We are not going to submit to the mangy cur. Military forces meet at your assigned bases and report in. Force Alpha, report to me. I need Adib Julian up here now, and I want reports on the status of Tancred's people as often as possible. Let's move people." The force of rebel complied quickly, and within an hour everyone was hidden in the jungle, except for Force Alpha. They were located on the outskirts of the city, and their infantry were spread out inside the city. The rebel military consisted of the militia, with the exception of militia a lance that had been assigned to patrol duty on a nearly uninhabited colony to keep them from interfering. There were also some volunteers who had been trained with rifles as snipers. There were no 'Mechs, as these were far to expensive for a militia on a backwater world like Alcor. Alpha consisted of some vehicles, around ten battle armor suits, and the infantry. They waited in their positions, to see a DropShip coming down towards the landing port.

Tancred sat in the cockpit of his Battlemech as the DropShip Fear dropped towards the port of Alcor. He felt the tremble as the ship landed, and as it subsided he walked to the door alongside the rest of his lance. They stepped into the light, and Tancred spoke on his external speakers "Hello people of Alcor. You are now under maritial law. Return to your homes. The rebel menace will soon be crushed."

If there was one thing the Chronosians loved, it was civil war; a great sundering within a nation, people against governments, governments against themselves, it amused them to no end...Such a pronounced and dedicated fall to Chaos, a civilisation cursing itself with banal carnage and depravity...This pleased them.

And so they watched, and they waited, and sent whispered communications to the proud prince, whispers of aid and power; if he were to forsake all, and pledge allegience to Remiel, and to Chaos; if he were to accept their aid, and their glories....

For the ways of chaos are those of manipulation and deceit..

The soldiers of Force Alpha saw Tancred and his force come out. "Okay people, Go!" shouted Mordecai "Go!". The snipers fired shots at forces nearby, then began to move back. The vehicles and battle armor went in headfirst, charging and firing at the tyrants. "Go!" Mordecai looked for Tancred's mech, a Zeus. When he saw it he yelled back to his gunner "Get the Zeus!" "Aff" Came the reply as the Zibler's gun began tracking. Ruby lasers lanced at the behemoth, as Alpha fired their weapons, then as each one finished, they raced off, taking a route through the city only a local could navigate quickly. The battlesuits stayed a little longer, but then disappeared into the buildings. Snipers would fire occasionally, then drop back into the jungle. Eventually most of the force was back in the jungle. Mordeci checked his command console, and sighed in relief as he heard that casulties had been minimal. "Go."
Starenell
05-03-2006, 22:08
Tancred grimaced, that had not gone well. He began issuing orders to deploy forces and hold all major cities. He then sent a relay to the Fang to send a bombing run over the jungle.

Two Weeks Later

Tancred smiled. The rebels had fought a guerilla war for the last few weeks, whittling down both sides, but he now had the location of one of their bases. He would deploy Marius Roctiv's forces, and destroy the insolent fools. This would be great. A strike at the rebel home and everything would be fine.
Starenell
29-03-2006, 02:53
Marius recieved his orders and bowed his head. He turned to his command staff "We are going to assault the rebel base. Now." He walked off to the cockpit of his mech. This was not right. Tancred was not the young boy Marius had played with as a child. He was insane. He had to be stopped now, and Marius would give his life to do so. As he started up his 'mech he wondered what he would do. These were horrible times. He marched on towards the coordinates.
Starenell

Mordecai frowned, shaking his head. "We ahve a large force heading towards Base Delta. All artillary must be readied, all Aerospace assets prepared for launch. Those who know the location of Base Delta, take your units and move out. This is it people.

Marius marched on, his heart heavy with remorse. He saw the rebel base ahead, and began giving slightly unconventional orders "Everone into a circle, with me at the center." "Sir, what is going on?" "Do it. Now." "Yessir" came back almost as a sigh. Marius opened a new channel, hopefully one the rebels would be moitoring. "Rebel units, I cannot fight you. Direct all artillary fire to these coordinates." He gave his own coordinates, then those of Tancreds main base. "In that order. Goodbye, and good luck."

Mordecai heard the message "Do you think it is a trap?" Said a junior member of his staff. "Probably, but he sounded truthful. Do it." All units fire on these coordinates if possible. Execute."

Marius looked up, and saw the shells, lasers, and all manner of weaponry coming towards his unit. He did two things near simeltaneously. Ejecting, and blowing his reactor core. A nova of white light burst from his 'mech as his cockpit did. Most of his unit was destroyed in the concentrated destructive force. The rest was mopped up by rebel forces that were goin to Base Delta. Marius was unconcious, left for dead.

Tancred read the reports with a taste of despair in his mouth. Half of his best unit had been destroyed, and the rebels now had near even ground with his own men. This was bad. Very Bad. Tancred started to slip into hysteria. He would leave Alcor, see how they like being left to the wolves. They deserved it, traitorous dogs. How could they defy him? The First Prince by right of birth? This was not right.

OOC: Commandos in particular are the Dare Death Squads (not many of those, since they're busy with Huntaer) and Marine Commandoes (more of those). Dare Death Squads are basically Dirty Dozen/Last Chancer-types that are recruited from war criminals found on Hajarra and offenders in the Acolytes that perform suicide missions with a taste for battle that would make Rambo blush-they get nastier and more unsavory tasks. Marine Commandos are more conventional special forces that are like RL SEALs or SAS.

Avalon-

An innocous looking civilian vessel moved as close as possible to Avalon as possible. Disguised as an ordinary trade ship, it was in reality concealing several Dare Death Squads. ISB had rigged their ship up with transporters, to ensure they could get onto the surface ASAP. Barring that, they had several Gagarin II Shuttles with Cloaking Devices on them to provide a means of extraction should things get too hot for the teleporters. Ships like this were prepared and sent in all over Starenell, inserted quietly to prevent suspicion, and targeting major installations.

The 500 men onboard sharpened their litham blades well. Force-powered, they would deliver a shocking blow-literally-to their opponents when used correctly. These were ex-Akrehite officers, men who had once been Ustashi, secret policemen trained in the art of the Force who had reigned unopposed until the New Dornalians came to their world and snatched them to that godforsaken camp in Siberia. The New Dornalians had trained them hard, and had treated them with a mixture of paternalism and contempt, even the chaplains barely giving them a break. Now, their skills, brutality, and lack of morals would be put to use.

The Commissar onboard said:

"Men! Soldiers! Tonight, you will land on this world, corrupted by Chaotic forces who wish to impose a reactionary regime on the Workers and Peasants of Starenell.

You were given clemency by Comrade MacIntyre and Comrade-Sensei Tadanobu, who have recognized that you, though corrupt, can be uncorrupted. That though dedicated to oppression, you may yet be shown the benefits of Democracy and True Liberty!

Now is your chance to redeem yourselves!

Now, show us that you have learned these things. Fight the Reactionary Fascists below. Kill as many as you can! Destroy the reactionary elements, who intend to spread falsehood and cultlike disorder!"

The men stood up ramrod straight, and filed onto the transporter, fully armed and ready to go. Then, the shimmering light of the transporter could be seen...and they were gone.

Next thing they knew, they were on the surface, their gear appearing sometime later. They had warped into the woods somewhere, it was the dead of night. One of the men spotted, in the distance, a few sentries. The men quietly moved towards the soldiers, using a combo of silent movement and the Force to remained concealed.

Then, when the time was right, they struck. One man swung his litham, and sent a bolt of Force Lightning towards one of the soldiers, electrifying him to death. His comrades tried to radio for help, but railgun fire silenced them.

The men pressed on, and they hid the bodies. Scouting out ahead, and aided by scans from the ship, it was determined that this was a sizable facility. In fact, it was the major transport hub they were to attack, and it was guarded with many soldiers, many men, many mechs and armor. The commander, Colonel Jurgan, smiled evilly. His men had not seen battle since the Great War on Hajarra, where they had bloodied their lithams in the trenches. Then his heart sank slightly-so many enemies! There must have been thousands of men. Then again, if they didn't do this, they were not allowed back.

They pulled together their weapons, and a few fireworks. The fireworks would cause a distraction, and the explosives would do the dirty work. They had grenades, RPG-Krak Rockets, Sniper Rifles, railguns, shotguns, lithams, lightsabers, mortars, and a substantial command of the Force, plus high explosives and other goodies. Before the mission, they had memorized a map of the complex and knew that they wanted to take out the power before anything else.

The Dare Death men then began fanning out, using the Force and silent movement once more to hide.

OOC: This next part's gonna make a few assumptions...I looked at your NSWiki, but even then, this may be a stretch.

IC:

Then, one of the men donned a uniform and kitbag from one of the dead soldiers, and used the Force to enter the complex, waving his hand and going: "Hey...it's me." After a patdown, he was let in. Of course...they didn't realize he had some hi-explosives.

He wandered in, and then looked around, sneaking about to avoid detection and occasionally using Force powers to kill anybody that got in the way. Then, he found the generator and transmitter. Planting explosives there, he then radioed the others, saying: "It's done."

He then hid in the toilet, and detonated the explosives. The power cut out, and the complex went on alert.

Then, the Dare Death force moved closer to the transport yard, and then launched mortars and RPG-Krak rockets at the enemy. A bloodcurdling cry went up, and fireworks-red fireworks in the formation of a death's head-signaled the beginning of operations. Teams charged in, flitting in and out of the shadows using the Force and striking at hordes of enemy infantry with Force Lightning from their Lithams and shotgun and railgun fire, and throwing objects about to cause confusion with their powers. The enemy fought back violently, and 50 Dare Death men died in the breakin. Some remained outside to cover their rear....

As they broke into the complex, they went on a rampage. In the confusion, they began demolishing cargo containers, blowing up mechs' legs, sabotaging maglev lines and generally messing the place up. With a streak of viciousness, they took no prisoners among the military-those who tried to resist were cut down automatically, mostly by very gruesome litham stabs and cuts. Those who surrendered were hustled off to the side, and shoved merclessly into secured areas, where they were guarded by fellow Dare Death men. Then, as soon as they destroyed most of the valuable property and took out most of the enemy, they offered the prisoners a choice. Join the rebellion against the First Prince, or die. The men grudgingly joined.

Then, the Dare Death men fled, getting beamed away to another location on Avalon....

Arc-Royal Shipyard-

The Marine Commandos were teleported into, of all places, a storage bay where goods and materials were stored. The Marines knew what to do. Like the Dare Death men, the Red Rosa network had fed them a map of the complex, and told them to hit the power station, the communications facility, and sabotage the construction yards in the nastiest way they could think of. Unlike the Dare Deaths, they had to follow rules of ethics-they couldn't afford mass murder or violence, they had to be more surgical.

And, since this was a vital facility, they had to be really careful...the area was fortified, drone guns, angry guards who looked like they got out of marital disputes, the works. Red Rosa provided the Marines going after the main targets with Staric work uniform schematics so they could go in disguised, and minimize their chances of getting caught. Meanwhile, undisguised Marine units would provide a distraction.

Thus, the men began to sneak out of the bay, different teams going to different sections of the Shipyard. They were in disguise, but they were still armed, with SMGs and

They were met by a worker, who held his hands up when he saw that the men who looked like his fellow workers were definetly not Staric. Surprisingly, the man didn't call for help. Instead, he said, "Thank goodness."

The Marines then took him to a closet and told him of their mission. He agreed to sneak the team into the comms area, which was jealously guarded. As the worker led the men to the door, he opened it up. The guards let him in, but they stopped the Marines. At this, the Marines punched out the Guards, and shot them. They then had to put them somewhere safe, like a broom closet.

The Marines then brandished their railpistols at the men in the room. The worker who let them in explained the situation. The comms workers then proceeded to spill their drinks on the consoles, and mess with the settings. They even borrowed the Marines' pistols and rail-SMGs and shot at the consoles When the Marines became perplexed, the comms workers revealed they had had it with the authorities (and those guns were pretty scary), and would try and help them. Thus, they proceeded to help them smash all the other equipment, and the Marines fled with them.

However, somebody noticed that external communications were down. Then, Security and its cameras noticed that there was a "riot" going on in the Communications Area. Thus, the Alert was sounded, soldiers flooded the hallways armed and dangerous.

The plan was going a bit awry. A squad of soldiers met the Marines that were to be the distraction, and opened fire on them, forcing a retreat. Two men were wounded, and the Marines fired shotguns and threw grenades into the enemy ranks, causing casualties. However, the enemy kept coming, and the undisguised Marines had to stay alert and moving, engaging squads of enemy infantry that tried to cut them off at various twists and turns.

Meanwhile, the Marines gunning for the Security area took refuge in the toilet, as a column of men ran nearby. They then dashed quickly, and were forced to engage a group of enemy soldiers with SMGs and pistols. It was by sheer luck they escaped, casualties were incurred as a man was wounded.

Eventually they

Thorin-

This world had Marine and Dare Death men teleported onto the surface, along with an ISB handler from the Red Rosa Network to organize operations. Like the Dare Death team, they landed in the woods. Red Rosa had provided a map of the area, and several towns and an industrial complex were nearby.

The Marines expected a fierce firefight; after all, they had the bad luck to be near a populated area. Thus, they proceeded with caution.

As they approached the outskirts of one of the towns, they were spotted by locals. Initially suspicious, the Marines captured the civilian and explained what they were here for. The civilian smiled. He said that they were flatly against Tancred, he and his people, and they'd be happy to shelter them and even join them.

The Marines approached this with some caution, and so did the handler. This almost sounded too good to be true. But, interrogations of the other townspeople confirmed it. They were opposed, and they would welcome all the support possible. The Red Rosa man negotiated with the mayor of the village, and agreed to begin providing supplies to them to supply a militia to resist. Thus, as the Marines and Dare Death began securing the area, medical supplies, rations, and arms were teleported down to the townspeople, who began to covertly stash them.

OOC: Okay, that worked pretty well. The 'mech might have given slightly more of a fight, but they were probably not too many or powerful.

IC: Of the men who were prisoners, some were actually eager to join the rebellion. Maybe half of these were just going to the winners, but some really did want to fight Tancred, and this gave them a chance they proably would not have had before. One of these was Kara Canaus, sho had already been doing some subvertive operations against Tancred. She went over to the Death Dares, and began giving them details of her operations she had, and contacts, all that good stuff. Then she began socializing with them, asking their names etc.

OOC: Thorin and Arc-Royal "Workers and Peasants" will go right to you. Expect more resistance on Arc-Royal, and Iaress is a little corrupt, they will not like yu too much.

The Dare Death Squaddies were actually quite articulate and gentlemanly to Kara, being secret police and members of a once-priveleged class back home, they treated this source of information well. Besides, she was one of the few women they had seen in months who wasn't barking at them to negotiate obstacles in freezing weather.

Colonel Jurgan, meanwhile, compiled the information she gave, and made out a list of potential targets. Some of these included industrial complexes, barracks, royal mansions, major roads, and urban targets.

He also sent for more supplies and guns to give his nascent army. Being a Dare Death Man, the higher-ups were nervous about giving his command more guns. But, since he was beginning to organize a resistance cell, they gave in and transported some supplies below, mainly rations, railguns, grenades, and more explosives, plus medical supplies to help fix up the wounded men.

(ooc: I'm going to try to get in on this one, as long as its alright if I pretend my coup event in The Lost Ones is over. I am going to wrap that up soon I swear, I just finished a big project so maybe this weekend.)

When the Universal Council adopted Tidan's commitment to the GFFA, they deployed the Adept Service to 'get to know' their new friends and allies. Though the Orothean Tidani insisted that they were all trust worthy, and had proven themselves over and over in the past, the other tribes still prefered to learn all they could.

(ooc: The adepts are agents of the Tidani intelligence and special forces/black ops. They are trained in the weirding way -martial art of the Bene Gesserit from Dune- hence the title 'Adepts'. This makes them skilled in combat as well as not being seen, prized talents for intelligence agents and black ops alike. Adepts rarely come from outside of the three tribes Arderial(avians), d'Resh(desert), Paradwyn(jungle).)

And so Adepts were scattered too GFFA worlds to learn what they could. Their mission was not to extract secrets, merely to learn who their allies were culturally and personally for themselves.

And so when a young paradan Adept was sent to Starenell, he chose Alcor to base his operation. Living in the jungle, that so reminded him of his home on Bythan, Adept Iar spent his days monitoring communications and video/audio feeds. In a way he was getting paid to watch and listen to their cultural programming, which suited him just fine even if it was that of an alien world.

When things started getting tense, and a full civil war broke out, his mission changed from observing to surveillance.

OOC: Okay, I am going to make a new thread for all the subversive operations going on. Anything on alcor can stay here. Weirding is cool, go Paul. There will be some government forces on Thorin, but the militia will go to you. Tidan, go ahead use fluid time, I am doing it a ton. I think civil wars increase use of fluid time by like, 100%.

IC: Tancred returned home in a rather foul mood. He was quiet, but anyone trying to talk to him was lashed out at and left him alone. He eventually came back form this, and started giving orders. Major worlds, and anywhere with reports of rebellion (Not Thorin yet) would have more troops stationed there. There would be a group on every planet, and militias would be pulled into those groups. Unassigned units would pull back to the March Capitals. He was going to win this before it started.

Arc-Royal Shipyard-Part 1

They were in disguise, but they were still armed, with SMGs and pistols.

--------------------
However, somebody noticed that external communications were down.

----------------

Meanwhile, the Marines gunning for the Security area took refuge in the toilet, as a column of men ran nearby. They then dashed quickly, and were forced to engage a group of enemy soldiers with SMGs and pistols. It was by sheer luck they escaped, casualties were incurred as a man was wounded.

Eventually they dashed into a walk-in closet, and radioed the Marines who had smashed up the Comms center. They agreed to meet, and storm the Security Area together.

First they had to meet at a nearby halfway point, a barracks area for shipyard workers. The men in the closet agreed to the arrangement, and when there were no Staric infantry nearby, they rushed to the meeting place. The other Marines and their compatriots did the same.

There, as they moved out, they came under fire from two more squads of enemy infantry. The Marines shot back, their SMGs and pistols blazing away at the enemy. The rebel workers then took the rifles from the dead soldiers, and followed.

Resistance increased near the Security Area, as drone guns, blast doors, and all the other security goodies top-level facilities like that have began to come into play. It began to resemble a Keystone Kops film, as the Marines leaped through closign doors, ducked and evaded drone gun shots with moves that would put the NBA's best to shame, and began to exploit all the little nooks and crannies the facility had to offer. Casualties were mounting; one man was dead, and though several disgruntled workers had taken his place, they were getting hammered too; two men were dead.

As they desperately tried to hide in a remote corridor, they radioed the ISB Mothership for some explosives, and shotguns-fast. They were warped down right near them, and the Marines quickly put these guns to use, clearing out a thick concentration of enemy infantry and blowing down some drone guns.

They were getting exhausted, and wounds and shots had been wearing them down. But they were close to the Security Command Area.

They blew out some more drone guns, and finally approached the massive blast door that had been implemented to seal off the final set of corridors leading to the Security Command Area. Radioing for some High Explosives, the ISB Ships beamed some down, and they proceeded to mount large quantities on what they judged to be the weakest parts of the door. Then, they backed away, and detonated the explosives, bending the door, but not breaking it.

This was going to be a problem. If they couldn't break in, then they couldn't stop Security from summoning all those men, and those nice little defenses. As it turned out, the communications center being destroyed made it impossible to hack into the systems directly. So, they had to bring in a ISB Door Descrambler, again by transport, and used a direct linkup from the vessel to the Descrambler to finally get the door open.

The Marines then proceeded forth.....after another set of battles, they finally broke through several more blast doors, dealt with several more squads, and entered the Security Control Area. After a fierce firefight, the room was secured. The disgruntled workers serving as translators, the Marines shut down the drone guns and opened all blast doors and secure areas-making it much easier for the others to do their jobs. And, they sent a message to the Arc-Royal's Employees-

"Attention All Employees-

The First Prince of Starenell intends to use this facility for his evil ends! He intends to impose a bleak, Chaotic dictatorship that will usurp your rights and destroy your local autonomy!

Nevermind these things, we have witnessed your working conditions. Many of your fellow Workers have complained of the conditions here. They say what you all think. That this facility, under the present management, is oppressive, and for little benefit and pay, they take your labor for the sole benefit of a man who has become mad! This is not what you signed up for!

We therefore, encourage you employees, cast off your chains! They are the only thing to be lost!"

The Staric soldiers realized this was bad, it meant the invaders had the security center under their command. For the Arc-Royal's Employees, it meant that whoever was shaking things up was not here to kill them, and in fact, was there to help them out. Thus, they began to resist, taunting Staric soldiers and even rioting in one of the cafeterias.

Iar, scanned through the news reports, then compared them to what was actually going on. He sliced and hacked data networks and communication grids. What he eventually found was a few references to a group known as Red Rosa. They had contacted the Alcor resistance, and soon after foreign fighters began stirring things up on other worlds. He went over the reports and rumors about the fighters. Their dress and tactics, their equipment and language. It soon became clear who was behind the attacks in his mind, and Red Rose fell right into place in his theory.

He tried to contact Red Rosa, he first had to trace their messages back to their source. Not easy. The communications were bouncing back and forth across a dozen different sattelite networks and relays on half a dozen worlds. Eventually he got there.

Red Rosa, this is a friend from Nadit. We have much to discuss.

A set of coordinates were sent along with the message. They were a busy market district on Alcor. A second set however was imbedded in the message. These were the real coordinates. A run down warehouse block.

Iar hoped that they would catch the rather blatent, but completely deniable hint as to the sender.

Three days later Iar stood inside a gutted warehouse, waiting to see if guests would arrive.

The Red Rosa network got the message from "Nadit." The network's leaders were suspicious of who the message was sent from, until one agent got the idea to spell Nadit backwards. Thus, the ISB agents in Red Rosa knew that allies were in the area, and worth meeting. Red Rosa's hackers got the message, and the real set of coordinates in the coordinates sent.

Thus, an agent was sent to the meeting site. Orlanda Yang, a catgirl agent, wandered through the run-down district the Tidani contact was supposed to be. She was armed, but only with a Fairbairn-Sykes vibroknife-she didn't want to give the impression something was up. She snuck through the area, until she could sense somebody. Catgirls could do that-thanks to mutations, all of them had some latent "Spider Sense," that proved mightily useful and would occasionally blossom into full on Force sensitivity. She hid, and then peered inside...it was her man.

She then straightened up her coat, and walked in confidently. She said, "Good day, sir. Red Rosa sends her greetings."

But, there is a greater concern.

Orlanda said, "On Avalon, it was reported that after their last raid, they took prisoner a vital spy working for the underground. Using that contact, they figured out she was working a number of connections in the cities already. The rebellion so far seems to be organized in cells, so they have no one central base.

As of now, Colonel Jurgan, our man on the planet, is still in guerilla operations; he has yet to establish a permanent base, so to speak, though he did wire a report he had set up a supply camp in the woods, as a sort of covert ammo dump. She then saw him, and her senses said something wasn't right. Orlanda then said, "Look, as far as we know, this place, Alcor, is the closest thing to a center the Resistance has. Mainly, all we have encountered is localized cell-and-planet-based resistance, though the Spy on Avalon, Kara Canaus, seems to be a high leader on Avalon. Thorin, meanwhile, is being organized as we speak, the operation is in the hands of a coalition of resistance leaders helped by the Marines, focused around the Mayor of Spallsburg, where Marine leaders made contact with the locals."

He drifted off a little in thought. "Well, at the very least I think it would be good for our two organizations to create a joint field command while we feed the flames here. Our forces are not confined to one planet and could probably do well to know all that is going on around them. Orlanda said, "Well, I would suggest two options.

Option one is this: Red Rosa is using modified merchantmen equipped with transporters and communications equipment to coordinate operations on planets. Perhaps a grand, mobile command facility that can more easily avoid detection would work for us.

Option two is simple; we stay here and organize from here. A more permanent base, we have the men here, Allied and Staric, but more vulnerable in the long run. For now, however, we're good-our enemies think this is just another jerkwater planet."

"I may be able to help with that first one. Adepts are usually placed on planets to uncover information, but we have used our sensor/explorer class of ship as a base for operations that need to be more mobile before."

He took out his communications gear again, and began sending messages to the Adept Service. After some time of inquiry and several levels of authorizations, a conclusive message returned.

Change in operation parameters approved. Await arrival of frozen eye.

The code at the end of the message refered to Tidan's Great White Narth (http://s14.invisionfree.com/Galactic_Federation/index.php?showtopic=303&view=findpost&p=593352) class cruiser. The codename came from the vast array of long and short range sensors they housed and the tribe that crewed them.

After two days of waiting TCS Exposure arrived over Alcor. EM dispersion and gravity compensation kept it hidden from government and offworld scanners for now. Its stealth would undoubtedly not last very long, but it never intended to stay forever.

Iar and Orlanda were transported to from the surface to the ship. As they materialized in the transporter room the shock of subzero temperatures hit them. Naran (http://s14.invisionfree.com/Galactic_Federation/index.php?showtopic=362&view=findpost&p=451690) crew members approached them and gave them thick fur coats.

Iar turned to Orlanda and tried to explain a little as his breath formed clouds of vapor crystals. "Naran. They are from the Nar tribe. They live in almost isolation on their frozen homeworld of Nar. Because of that they are very suited to long exploration missions alone in deep space. We can move to some rooms that are at more suitable temperatures, but first we should transport aboard anyone else that you need from Red Rosa."
