It was early monday morning General-Mayor Zverev was seeping his hot tea finding himself in a R/C-R control bunker 40 km outside of Zelenograd, in the middle of the Ural mountains. He was put in charge of the bunker during the testing of the new wonder weapon that has just been developed by "Cosmos" Corporation under Russian government contract with help from several other companies including the global nuclear power giant, "MirAtom". The research and development was carried out perfectly, the labor was devided so non of the participants in the development of the project knew what the whole thing was going to look like except of course "Cosmos" that was inchrage of the final product assembly. And today all that work would be tested and General-Mayor Zverev will have to report personally to the president on the results of the tests and of course if someone found out about these tests taking place Zverev's carrier would end immediately and forever. This was a highstakes game for him, he took all the precausions, the test satelite was put into orbit in a capsule resembling a weather satelite, all people who were in the bunker and everyone who knew about the project were double and trippled checked and their movement inside the bunker as well as information they were told was limited.
The red light came on the wall size monitor in the control room, it was time for the test.
Zverev: I give the start command, release the UAV.

Soon after a thousand kilometers away a UAV took off. It went up to 700 meters and started doing evasive maneuvers in the air.

Zverev: Lock on to the target.
Seven seconds later one of the mission operators spoke into his microphone.
Operator: Target locked-on.
Zverev: Confirm once the satelite is in the position.
Two minutes later
Operator: Satelite is in the position, lock-on confirmed and holding.
Zverev: Fire at will.
The operator punched the enter button.

For the first time C-EPE Avrora fired in anger. The invisible beam went down from the sky and hit the target perfectly, the firing parameters were set at maximum, the UAV was EMP hardened.

Something started happening to the UAV, sparks appeared coming out of few places on its fuselage, its nose tipped down, it started quickly descending. Three seconds later it crushed, the wings flew off, so did the propeller, the fuselage got smashed but it did not explode. The test was a success.
