Teslia

The Teslian region of Tlska had always been a place of internal strife, largely due to the fact that the majority of its populations did not share the same ethnic makeup as the rest of the nation. The Tlskans were a fairer skinned people who had arrived in the area that was now Teslia in the middle of the 10th century after having migrated from the southern boot of the continent. Many also did not follow the traditional Teslian Orthodox Christian faith, opting instead for a near pagan amalgamation of Christian ideals and traditional beliefs that was referred to derogatorily as Tlskan Voodoo.

Following the collapse of the Teslian republic and the rise of Dictator Marshall Namazov with the support of the aging President Kerikov, things had gone downhill. Riots in the southern port city of Tlksko by trade unionists had been bitterly suppressed in what had been termed the October Massacres (reference: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10460895&postcount=43). Following this, a police presence in the city had been stepped up and maintained by Namazov’s right hand, the brilliant, brutal General Nikola Berisha, Minister of Rearmament. Still, the region fumed at the brutality displayed against the citizenry in the October massacres, and even six months later, tensions were running high. Dictator Namazov did not seem particularly worried, however, as his rearmament plan had been going quite well. Teslia was already producing small arms and ammunition surpluses, and foreign contracts and investment had sped the militarization of the nation and the growth of the production economy.

In mid-April however, the situation in Tlska began to take a turn for the worse. Community leaders from throughout the region, specifically the three largest cities of Tlksko, Brjevo, and Ilkursk met secretly in the northern province to discuss the problem. They saw in the current state of affairs an opportunity. Civilian militias had already been formed in secret throughout the region, though few were armed. If open secession was pushed for, they believed that they would have the capacity to defeat Namazov’s police occupation and stave off a military invasion long enough to open multi-lateral negotiations for provincial autonomy. There was near unanimous support for the measure, and the leaders departed, confident.

Throughout the rest of April and May the Tlskan leaders worked to organize, bribing local police captains to obtain a degree of security in their dealings and to ensure rallies and union meetings were not interrupted. Namazov and his aids watched this with a degree of apprehension, but were still largely confident in the capabilities of the black clad state police, and busy concentrating on the rearmament program.

Then, on the morning of May 22nd, a Tlskan militia cell jumped the gun. A car packed with explosive pilfered from an old armory exploded outside a television station in downtown Brjevo, targeting a Teslian Colonel who had just finished a state sponsored interview in the building. The target was uninjured, but several of his bodyguards were killed along with bystanders. The police authorities were enraged, and instantly a manhunt began. Fearing for their own security, the militias who had managed to arm themselves took the fight to the streets in Brjevo and Ilkutsk. Tlksko remained largely stable due to the overwhelming police presence. Teslian police authorities were caught off guard and in the first few hours, many retreated to fortified police station and military bases. Several of the militia leaders declared their independence and that of the region, an act of war.

Telgrade, Teslia-

With the car-bombing of a government owned television station in the long troubled Tlska region of the Teslian nation, fighting has erupted in the streets of two major cities, and tensions seem about to boil over in a third. Dictator Namazov, supreme head of the Teslian Government, has declared a state of emergency in the province, an action which, according to the October Articles constitutes the establishment of martial law and grants the Dictator and his empowered subordinates the right to arrest, charge, and sentence citizens contributing to the disturbance on the spot. Rumors of a massive mobilization of Teslian military elements are unfounded, but here in the capital the air is tense as military and police activity is visibly on the rise….

--------------

The roar of vehicle engines resounded through the hills as the long convoy of trucks, packed with soldiers and supplies, rumbled over the poor roads leading into the Tlskan region. In the back of one of the leading trucks, a young corporal smoked a hand rolled cigarette, a Teslian produced TM-70a assault rifle cradled in his lap. The sky was gray, and a light drizzle had just halted for the first time that day. The roads were muddy, and the trucks slogged through with difficulty. In the distance the scream of a jet engine could be heard, but other than that and the sound of the engines, the day was quiet. The Corporal took a last puff on the cigarette and tossed it out of the back of the truck, extinguishing it in the muck. He leaned back and closed his eyes.

A horrible roar forced him to jolt forward, eyes wide open, rifle clutched firmly in his hands. There was shouting outside and the roar of a fire. Gunfire began to sound close by, in the hills on either side. The soldier was out the back in no time, taking cover behind a wheel rut just in time to see a rocket streak towards another truck in the convoy, detonating with devastating effect. He raised his rifle and squeezed a burst off in the direction from where the rocket had come. He saw a figure dart behind some shrubs and fired again, before rushing out towards the burning truck. Several men were laying around, some still, some groaning, blood mixing with the soggy earth. There was shouting over the radio. Another convoy had been hit a few miles away at the same time. Local militias.

The gunfire had quieted, and it seemed as if the ambush was over for the moment.

Telgrade, Teslia-

Teslian troops, having successfully crossed the mountains in force last week have lain siege to the cities of Brjevo and Irkutsk, beginning a campaign of near nonstop aerial and ground bombardment. It is unclear the number of casualties, but it is believed that in the Teslian onslaught, several high density civilian areas have been struck…

-----------

Brjevo suburbs, 0800

A robin came to perch on a cinder block, displaced from a home still burning after an artillery shell had struck it directly the previous night. The cul de sac of the small neighborhood was empty, covered in debris. However, silent eyes watched, training weapons, waiting for another attack. They were not disappointed. A pair of Teslian military APCs lumbered into view, guns on a swivel.

Suddenly a hiss and a white flash, as an anti-tank rocket slammed into the side of one of the vehicles. The other rotated its gun and unloaded a hail of heavy machine gun fire on the house from where the rocket had come, as troops poured out into the street.

Corporal Mikhail Kirkov ducked behind a house, cradling his TM-70. and sweating under the heavy uniform and the hot rising sun. A pair of soldiers fell in behind him and they ducked off to the right of the house, charging towards a small shed. They moved inside and took cover as the APC continued to load rounds into one of the houses. There was a second hiss and an explosion and the gun fell silent. He watched the small visible strip of road as two soldiers came into view. They fell, one’s legs shot out from under him, the other’s head cloven in half by a sniper’s bullet. Mikhail peered around the edge of the shed, and scanned the houses. He shot a few rounds through a window and saw a silhouette stagger back and fall.

They moved towards the shed’s back door and scrambled across a backyard, sidling up to a wall behind what had once been a comfortable middle class home. The back door hung ajar, so Mikhail pulled the pin from a grenade and rolled it inside. There was a dull thud as gunfire continued to resound in the street, and the three men charged inside. Mikhail found himself face to face with a large man, and he instinctively clubbed him in the jaw with the butt of his gun, knocking him back and to the ground. He raised his rifle, only to see that the man was unarmed. He looked around and saw lying on the floor a woman and child, and for a moment stood paralyzed with horror.

There were footsteps thundering on the stairs and he forced himself back to his senses, raising his rifle as two Brjevan militiamen, neither much older than 19, came into view. He unloaded and they fell, chests and legs riddled with bullets. They moved upstairs, sweeping the rooms, finding nothing but a pair of frightened young girls sheltering in each other’s arms in one of the rooms.

-----------

On a hill a mile outside of town Colonel Nikolai Tesliekev observed the city through a pair of old black binoculars. His uniform was old and dirty, but he still cut an imposing form, a revolved holstered at his side, neat hat set squarely atop his head full of dark black hair. He turned to see the five massive artillery pieces which as if on cue thundered and belched fire. A few seconds later black smoke and ash rose in the center of town as the shells hit home.

He moved over to a table with a map set on it, locations marked with red x-es. The militia were a clever bunch. They were hiding their own equipment in civilian sectors, hoping for civilian casualties that they could hype to the media to gain support. He frowned. War was an ugly business, but somebody had to do it. Meanwhile, the guns kept thundering as a new wave of armored personnel carriers meandered down through the valley into the city’s west end.

Deltara was a huge nation, only by land size though and the vast majority of it remained uninhabited. Its leader was approaching his 30's and its military growing in strength quickly. After years of war, it had to be at strength.

He walked into the cabinet room with large strides, as every single minister fell silent, standing at the same time. He was a man who commanded respect, pulling his country, as his father did also, through hardship and good times; war and few years of peace; foreign intervention and suffering. They all sat together.

The foreign minister walked around to the King, placing a document on the table in front of him. "It makes for very interesting reading your highness."

The King looked at the frong page, flicked through all 102 pages in 5 seconds and dropped it on the table. "You live for around 80 years, a day spent reading this is not worth my time. Summarise it, sparing insignificant details if you please."

Taken aback, the Minister of Foreign Affaris did so. "Teslia is a nation split apart, militia groups forming and fighting the government. It all goes back to one fateful October, and the October Massacres, as I made you aware at the time. The situation has regretedly escalated, and war has broken out. If for nothing more than diplomacy, I would strongly suggest getting in contact with them."

The King was looking at the map he found half way through the booklet. "Very good. I trust you can take care of this?" He trusted his ministers, especially this one, extremely loyal and unwavering in his support for the King. Although this was the general feeling in the country, this man was one like no other.

"I shall get to work on it, your highness." He bowed and exited.

To whoever it may concern,

Deltara sympathises with the troubles your country faces, and would like to pledge aid of whatever form to help.

Yours faithfully,

A desperate communique on a hijacked channel:

To His Majesty, The King of Deltara,

Your grace, I send this message as a cry for help. The people of Tlska are suffering. The siege of Brjevo is becoming a slaughter. The people starve, cut off from supplies by the forces of the monster Namazov. The horrors I have seen are too terrible and too many to list here. Our militias, our sole line of defense, are weakened, lacking supplies, arms, ammunition and cannot hold off for much longer against the onslaught. I beg of you to do something, as your nation is the only one that seems to have taken interest in ours.

Official Communique From the Teslian Nationalist Government

Dictator Namazov thanks you for your interest and your sympathies during this troubled time. As you have no doubt seen, this rebellion is a threat not only to the national stability but to the lives and wellbeing of the Teslian people. The militias that are seizing control throughout Tlska show little regard for the people they pretend to protect, using them only as shields for their own corrupt political agenda. I ask that you not be swayed by their propoganda if you indeed wish to aid our nation in our time of trouble.

The message filtered in, the King receiving it directly. He called in his Head of Military, Minister of Homeland Defence and Foreign Affairs. After a meeting they came to a conclusion.

Natasha,

We are prepared to send in forces, under what terms we can negotiate. Units are being readied, the DAF and Navy prepared. Military Intel teams will also be sent in, for our purposes, to locate and monitor enemy movements. Any Intel we see fit will, of course, be sent to you also. Although we cannot commit men in quantity, they should be able to give you some asistance.

A civilian organisation also, after hearing of your nations problems, is collecting items to help your civilians. Foodm temporary shelters, clothing and materials, umong other things, can and will be sent when collected, transported by our military.

We would require a temporary facility to be set-up as an HQ for our forces, inside of a DMZ. Any attacks on it will be greeted by more forces. The facility will be open (as space is available) for your troops also, housing a MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital), accomodation and other facilities. They will be ready to leave in a day, and airforce units and navy units have been directed to you already, now en route.

We only hope we are not too late.

President Holtz wrestled with his mind, fustrated over the Teslia situtation. "One side is a despotic, totalitarian capitalist government, the other is a more liberal, equally violent socialist leaning rebellion. What do I do? I can't support either of them, they are both too extreme." he thought.

The three Black jeep-like vehicles pulled up sharply outside the base commanders office, they showed signs of being driven hard across difficult terrain and the imprint of where a sticker had recently been removed still showed part of the yellow J, symbol of J Corps.

Several men alighted and the most casually dressed of those quickly ran up the steps to the Army Base Commanders house.

Without even waiting to be allowed in he pushed the door open. From outside came the sound of helicopters, three J Corp Knighthawks descending slowly on the pads outside.

"Commander. The IH government has been informed that individuals acting under IH passports have been giving support to the criminal regime currently in Teslia. This information did not leak from us and as such I have been ordered to leave this country with all my people as quickly as possible. It will be beneficial for both of us. Deliveries of advanced equipment already payed for or ordered will still be sent and we will review any new orders if they are placed. My helicopters are here now. Goodbye."

Without even allowing the man a chance to say anything the man turned and strode out. His men drove the vehicles to the pad and most got into the helicopters, the last three tossing grenades into the vehicles that went off as the helicopters lifted off. There were cargo planes awaiting them at the nearby airport, now they had to get out of their before the IH Army or even worse the Air Force decided to make an appearance.

President Anderson paced the space between his desk and the windows in his spacious office. Present in the room were only his Special Advisor, John Crook, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Pax Lomar.

"I don't understand. How can they be operating on this scale and I have only just been informed of it!"

"Mr President, J Corp has extensive government dealings. It is not unreasonable to suppose that they could cover such information up in the IA or SATRECON departments. They built over half the intelligence assets we rely upon!"

"My God man. You're saying that this has only just come to my attention because my own Special Investigator stumbled on it by accident!"

"So it would seem Mr President. We are about to start a more thourough investigation into their dealings with other oppressive regimes. It does however appear that they helped prop up this Teslian dictator during his period of vulernability. It leaves open the possibility that we have to correct the ill our corperation has done. General."

"Mr President, if we have to we have significant assets that can be used to restore the situation. At my orders the 29th Infantry Division is being prepared."

"The Silver Shields?" This surprised question came from the President.

"Affirmative Sir. They are a striking arm that should restore the situation should the need arise. In the meantime the New Hampshire group has been ordered to the area. Just incase."

"Very well General. Keep me informed" The President returned to his seat as they left, seemingly unaware that he had gone a long way to satiating the militaries lust for conflict.

Another F-22S Sea Raptor lept off one of the six forward catapults and soared into the air infront of the huge carrier. She carried nearly a hundred of the agile fighters, most of which were now in the air for a full practice exercise against the F/A-18E Super Hornets which made up the attack aircraft. Both sides also had the aid of E-2CI Hawkeye Airbourne Radar sets, of which fifteen were carried by the carrier.

Rear-Admiral Dave Walton watched the screens in the CIC. The exercise was proceding as planned, his force of Blue dots was on the defensive against the ships Captain's Red Force. So far it had gone to plan.

"Admiral Sir. General Lomar on the phone."

10 miles from Teslian shore

The sea was calm, the men anxious. This was their first conflict on foreign soil, and against a non government force. Marines were preparing for landing when the signal was given, aircraft carriers, namely The Grand Voyager, were awaiting the signal to release aircraft to carry out early recon. One more ship turned up just 20 minutes ago, directing its ordinance at the nation for future use, and its surface-to-air defence weapons to the sky.

None of them knew that the other had been sent, and that was the purpose. If the men knew the scale at which the attack on these rogue forces would be taking place, it may have instilled some level of uncomfort.

A computer screen was flashing in the Admirals office. The message read, quite simply, "Mail received".

Official Statement From the Teslian Government-

Earlier this morning vessels of apparent Deltaran origin violated Teslian territorial waters. We of the Teslian government can only assume that their intentions are hostile, and as of now these vessels are being given twenty minutes to change course and remove themselves, or a state of war will exist between the Teslian nation and the Kingdom of Deltara.

The Teslian Government welcomes with open arms the assistance of the generous Red Tide government and military, and grants permission for the necessary forces to enter Teslian territorial waters and if necessary, to deploy land units to commence operations.

Presidential Situation Room, Kilani

THe room was a hive of activity. The war with Rodenka was currently eating up almost all of President Lorenov's time. However, a report had made it's way to his desk. Apparently, someone had though that the situation in Tlska was important enough to warrant his personal attention. Lorenov read over the report, eyebrows raised before looking up at the military officer in fron of him.

"What do they expect me to do? Our entire military is being brought to bear upon Rodenka. We cannot get involved in another war. THe result would be disastrous."

The military officer, Lietenant-Colonel Petrov Yaksuk, was a member of the Military Insurgency and Counter-Invasion Department (MICID), who's job it was to plan a underground rebellion should Kilani ever be overrun. He cleared his throat and spoke.

"Comrade President, I realise we cannot hope to intervene militarily. To do so would be unwise. However, we still have large stockpiles of Soviet-era weapons left over from before we modernized the military. It is my opinion that we should begin supplying weapons to these militias, as well as insert SID troops to assist in achieving autonomy. Without help, they are doomed to be ground under the heel of the Facist Dictator."

The president is silent for a few moments, considering. He looks up at Yaksuk.

"Very well Colonel Yaksuk. I am promoting you to Brigadier General and placing you and MICID in full control of this operation. The Third Transport Airwing will be placed at your disposal. In addition the Fifth SID Battalion will be deployed to Tlaska to help the militias. The August NAval Task Force is in the area. They were on their way to help the Red Tide deal with the Farmina situation, but that has been dealt with."

Yaksuk salutes.

"Thank you comrade president."

Brjevo, Tlska

The room was dim, a single bulb hanging overhead as the thunder of exploding shells several blocks away shook dust from the ceiling. The light shone on ragged mismatched combat attire mixed with civilian clothing, dark faces blackened by soot and ash. A hand drawn map rested on a crude table, a man with a war weary, rugged face poring over it while the others kept silent. Different insignias were visible on patches sewn on wool shirts and berets, representing the militias that had come to the city to fight before the seige had begun. Their firearms were nearly as varied, few new, and the product of raids on government and private arsenals that had taken place the weeks before in the province.

Suljo Osmanovic looked up from his map, his expression grim, his smoke gray eyes dull in the oppressive beam of the naked bulb. He was the leader of the Brjevo local militia, the largest militia represented in the city, and the eldest of the Tlskan militia commanders. He was an engineer by profession, but had spent several years in the Teslian Republican Army. His name was known throughout the province among the Tlskans, and he was near universally considered to be a competent, intelligent, and fiercely patriotic man. This was the first time many of the militia representatives had been in the room with him, assembled at his own behest. He addressed them now in a low clear tone.

“There has been talk of a lost cause. I fail to see which cause might be lost. Certainly not ours. The situation in this city is grim, I will not lie, but the battle to lift this siege is far from over. A band of our compatriots recently managed to seize one of Namazov’s communication posts on the edge of town and sent a distress call to elements of the Deltaran government. With this we have seen awareness peak. The media is not unfavorable to us. The world is not blind. As we speak there are being set in motion plans to bring weapons, food, and medicine into the city to allow us to continue our struggle and relieve the pressure on our civilians, who, we must not forget, are the reason for out struggle in the first place. The city is sealed, compatriots, so we are here to stay until the siege is broken or we are killed. We must stand strong. The machinations against us are strong but not invincible. Our spirit is stronger. We will not allow our race to be exterminated, the only result of allowing Namazov to have his way.”

There were nods and a few guttural cheers. Above, at street level, the shells had stopped falling in the area, giving a brief respite to the occupants of the district. Women and children peeked out from behind the destroyed facades of apartment buildings and the shattered glass of commercial storefronts. A few rushed into the street to tend to the wounded. There was weeping, some screaming. Mostly it was quiet. Tired freedom fighters in old, dirty uniforms waited or wandered aimlessly in the streets, under a blue sky choked with ash. In the distance there was the chatter of a machine gun, the coughing of a car engine trying to start. As the minutes passed, women walked quickly towards an exposed handpump in the backroom of a store, the wall and roof blown off. As a line formed, they filled buckets with drinking water or water to wash wounds. A rare moment of peace.

On the city’s west end, a battle scarred commercial district full of high rise office buildings and department stores, a column of armored personnel carriers rumbled slowly, the emblem of Nationalist Teslia emblazoned on the side as men on mounted guns kept a lookout. A few tanks brought up the front and rear of the column. Suddenly there was a crack and the head of one of the gunners exploded in a cascade of red mist. A second and third shot resounded, then a fourth, fifth, sixth. Shouts in Teslian of ‘sniper!’ resounded as the guns opened up on the nearest office building across the street, riddling the façade with gunfire. Troops poured out as the tank cannon roared and breathed fire. The soldiers scurried for cover as militia men opened up with small arms. One of the fiercest firefights in days had broken out.

Sergeant Nikit Andriev fell to the concrete behind a low barrier, propping his rifle up and taking aim at a Tlskan scurrying across the street. He pulled the trigger and his heart leapt as the man went sprawling forward, legs shot out from under him. A burst of bullets hit the front of the barrier, and he rolled onto his back, breathing hard. A man beside him hurled a grenade across the street. There was a roar of a truck engine in the distance and the sound of screeching tires. An unwitting driver had barreled directly into the crossfire, and the sides were immediately riddled with bullets, blood spattering on a shattered windshield as the old automobile turned sharply and rolled over, crashing through the front of a department store. The fire quieted for a bit, and Andriev got to his feet, advancing slowly to a line of Teslian riflemen moving towards the department store. A heavy machine gun opened up and cut down several, prompting Andriev to dive behind an old car. A tank shell slammed into the first floor of the building, killing the gunner, and with that the Teslians charged.

Once inside the front door, they were caught in a brutal crossfire, and those who were not instantly slaughtered, pulled back to the street. A new group moved around the side, and burst in, killing a dozen militia men in a few seconds. One of the APCs accelerated towards the front door, barging through and laying waste, prompting the militia to retreat to another section of the mall. Suddenly a rocket streaked white and slammed into the side of the vehicle, leaving it stranded as the crew scrambled to get out, only to be shot down where they stood. The district erupted as both sides dug in to shoot it out.

Secret Message From Commander Suljo Osmanovic-
To the people and government of Kilani, you have my humble thanks for your offer of support. The supplies you mention will surely relieve this struggle and turn the tide for the better. Once we lift this siege, we will be able to breathe more easily and continue the struggle on our own terms, but until then your arms for our soldiers and food and medicine for our civilians will be appreciated. We will transmit information on known weak points in the siege lines where it would be possible to infiltrate with the supplies relatively undetected and without trouble. Again, our humble thanks.

He had just bowed to public pressure and sent 500 troops overseas to find five people stranded in a war zone and now Gibraltarland demanded him to support Tlska. He hated sending troops into war but he hated the thought of losing re-election even more.

He wrote an executive order recognizing Tlska's independence and declaring war on Teslia. Then he went to bed wondering if he was becoming the politician he swore he would never be.

Official Announcement From the Teslian Government-

Owing to the increasingly dangerous situation in the city of Brjevo, and the suspected acquisition by members of the terrorist organizations currently occupying that city of advanced Surface to Air Missile Systems, the Teslian government and the Teslian department of war have hereby declared an official no-fly zone over the region of Tlska. All aircraft seeking to pass over the region must first acquire special permission from the Teslian government or risk being targetted and shot down.

---------

Teslian Military RADAR Outpost, 12 miles south of Brjevo

The young Teslian was awoken from his midday daze by the sudden pinging in his headphones and the appearance of several red blips on the radar screen. He called out in Teslian for a superior, and a captain of about 30 appeared over his shoulder. His brow furrowed. They had not been alerted of any possible flyovers that day. He got on the radio.

"Sir, we have several unidentified aircraft moving quickly through the NFZ in the direction of Brjevo. They show no sign of course alteration. Should we attempt contact?"

There was a brief pause.

"Negative. Aircraft suspected of bringing supplies to rebel forces in the city. You have permission to fire on them."

The captain was a bit taken aback, but he nodded and hung up. Shouting in the native tongue could be heard as the mobile SAM launchers spun to get a fix on the incoming aircraft. with a thunderous hiss the missiles exploded towards their targets.

Official Statement From the Teslian Government-

Dictator Marshall Namazov is shocked by the declaration of war from the nation of Gibraltarland, and their obvious disregard for the sanctity and sovereignty of the Teslian nation. Her police actions in Tlska are entirely justified and legal under international law, and this war is quite clearly illegal. Teslia will meet the Gibralterland declaration with all available force, but we ask that they first come to their senses and offer the opportunity for them to retract this declaration before bloodshed becomes the only option. However, until this occurs, a state of war exists between the nation of Teslia and Gibralterland.

Long live Teslia! Long live Marshall Namazov!

Tlska:

http://usera.imagecave.com/mobrule132001/Tlska.bmp.jpg

The northern border is generally mountainous. Everything east of the river is dominated by rolling hills and thick forests with the occasional plot of clean farmland. The climate is cool and often damp, with snows in the winter. Roads are known to become mud tracks and mudslides are common in some areas. Villages and farmland are scattered throughout. The south around Tlksko is generally flatland and farmland, though it is a more modern city with a working port. Teslian authorities are still largely in control of this city, with both northern cities under seige, and the largest amount of fighting in and around Brjevo. there are roughly 20,000 troops currently in the province separated into various infantry, mechanized, artillery, and support divisions.

GLS Air Chief

Admiral Stine looked at the telegram from Union City. Destroy enemy air force. was all it read. Stine shook her head. The War Ministry had only sent the Air Chief and its complement of fighters and bombers, not the strike force Stine requested. Still she'd make due with what she got. She had no other choice.

Commander Reginald Fran and her formulated their plan: send 67 assault fighters directly over the no fly zone to knock out the enemy air force. That wasn’t much but the crew was used to working despite limits.

Now Stine would wait and see if her confidence was well placed.

In the Skies

Lt. Thad Green readied for combat. He had flown well in the simulations and the real thing was no different. At least that’s what he kept telling himself as his squadron crossed into the no-fly zone.

"Look sharp and good hunting." Captain Hillart told them over the radio. Her plane was leading the formation. She'd get the first kill.

Or be the first kill.

Off the Coast of Tslka, Night

The ocean surfed crashed against the beach, the night virtually silent. Suddenly there was a ripple on the surface and a submarine broached the surface, followed by another, and then another. The trio of submarines remained still for a few moments. Then there was the faint clang of opening hatches and dark figures spilled out onto the decks. There was a flurry of activity and a alrge group of small rubber boats began their journey towards shore.

An hour passed. The men in the boats were safely ashore, as was the equipment. With a signal of "Good luck", the submarines dissepeared back into the dark waters, turning for the Kilani fleet waiting in international waters.

On shore, SID Colonel Zietel Churovivich signaled his company commanders. Altogether, six companies of SID troops had been landed, one hundred and eighty men, as well as weapons and ammunition. The SID planned on carrying them on their backs until they reached their target.

"Comrades, here is our plan, once more for the sake of repition. We are heading for Tlska..." He pointed east, "We are to infiltrate the enemy lines and contact the militia leaders. We will give them the weapons and ammunition we have brought and establish a dropzone. Once that is in place, we will signal the fleet. They will begin high altitude airdrops to avoid being detected by enemy radar and enemy SAM fire. With the weapons and ammunition, it is our hope that the militia will be able to break the siege. We move by night. Let's go!"

The men gradually faded into the surrounding woods, leaving behind only footprints which soon faded into obscurity.

Encoded Message to the Militia
Comrades,

Do you have contacts along the coast? We need to land more weapons and ammunition. Airdrop to all cities is virtually impossible ,althouh we soon hope to be providing for one. To this end we require spots on the coast where we can safely land weapons, ammunition, and medical supplies so that they be smuggled to your brave soldiers fighting against the facists.

End Message

The 4th SuperDreadnought BattleGroup steamed into the Teslian waters, as did the transport ships carrying the 23rd Corps. The Transports split off and began to head off for the Teslian Naval Base closest to the rebellious Province of Tlska. The rest of the battlegroup began to head to a position 6 kilometers off the coast of Tlska. From there they could easily bring to bear every single weapon the warships carried on the coast. The fleets RADAR noted the Usean-Jason Aircraft flying towards the coast... and the Teslian SAMs flying towards the Usean Aircraft.

They also noted the Usean ships just out of Teslia's waters. They would keep a close eye on them. But another thing drew the attention of the Battlegroup, Gibraltarlands 'airfleet' of 67 aircraft. They had blatantly flown into missile range of the BattleGroup. There were so few aircraft that none of the 70 H/K-2 VTOL Interceptors carried by the TSUNAMIS Class SuperCarrier were sent up to greet them. The BattleGroup would use missiles instead.

Up to 268 MDSM-4 Surface-Air Missiles were ejected out of their VLS Tubes and sent hurling through the air towards the aircraft. With 67 enemy aircraft, that would mean 4 missiles per aircraft! A moderately skilled pilot could dodge a single missile, a pretty good pilot could dodge two or three. But the amount of pilots that could dodge FOUR missiles were few and far between.

Secret Message From Commander Suljo Osmanovic-

To the powers that be, PRK,

I fear that our presence along the coastline is sparse at the moment, as many of our numbers are currently engaged in the defense of Brjevo, and halting the Teslian advance through the mountains. However, I am in contact with a compatriot who has forces enough to open up a small coastal pocket long enough to secure a shipment and move inland. The seizure of a Teslian motor pool has given us a few trucks capable of transporting the supplies overland. Such an infusion of weaponry and ammunition would buy us time to receive further shipments. Coordinates will follow once the area in question has been secured, however both parties will have to move quickly before Namazov’s soldiers have time to act and the airforce is brought to bear.

Tlskan Fishing Village, 40 KM due south of Brjevo-

The pre-dawn dark was as thick as the salty air as the waters of the Tlskan sound lapped gently against a rough hewn sea wall. An old wooden boat floated easily beside a wharf. It was still quiet even at this late hour, and one familiar with the advanced schedule of the fisherman would have immediately sensed something amiss in the stillness of the piers. However, turning one’s head seaward, the reason for the quiet would have become instantly apparent. A rather menacing looking gunboat sat lethargically at anchor, the flag of the fledgling Teslian Nationalist Navy hanging limp at mast. Further examination would have revealed forms moving slowly on the pier and in the streets, dark silhouettes, shadows of assault rifles falling long under the occasional flicker of a lamp. A large artillery gun sat on the edge of the seawall, the barrel turned towards a peak on the other end of the sound. It was silent now, but come dawn, it would begin shelling a suspected rebel position in a neighboring village while ground forces moved in to clean out the area.

Unbeknownst to the village’s occupiers, however, that ground force would never arrive. They had been ambushed just twenty minutes earlier, and killed to the last man in a brief, quiet struggle that drew little attention on an otherwise quiet night. Now, the ambushers observed the village from the crest of a low rise on its edge, elements of a local militia, all fierce looking, weather worn, bearded men, fishermen and their sons. As the clock struck 4AM, two dozen advanced, painstakingly crawling through the wet grass and the slop towards the edge of the village.

They moved into the shadows, slicing a pair of throats, and dragging the bodies into a worn old house while others continued through. The signal came, a pistol shot and a shout of pain, and they were upon the Nationalists with a vengeance. It was over in less than a minute, the artillerymen dead at their posts and the Tlskans bringing the gun around to face the sea. They aimed carefully while the ship’s crew dozed, or some watched thunderstruck. The cannon thundered and a shell ripped into the hull, igniting an ammo locker, and blowing the whole thing sky high in a wonderful display of smoke and fire. There were a few cheers and some joy shots as the militiamen took up positions to receive the arms shipment, trucks rumbling into the center of the small town, towards the wharf.

To: Marshall Namazov

Your order has been confirmed by Doomingsland Defense Industries and Imperial Aerospace. However, because of the local situation, the Imperial Government has seen fit to send an escort force with the shipment in the event of unwanted intervention. "Constanza! Respond!"

Thad Green yelled to his wingman again. The enemy missiles had killed at least a quarter of their pilots, probably more. It was beginning to look increasingly likely that Constanza was one of them.

Green had survived four missiles, surprising himself with his piloting skills. All the missles had missed but an explosion had scraped the port wing. He could still fly but barely. He wouldn't be making it home.

He no longer cared what happened to him. He flew his jet straight for one of the enemy ships. If he survived he'd do it again. If not...

If not I'll take a few of them out with me.

Near the Shores of Tlska

The First Expeditionary Force set out.

They were eager young men and women, eager to fight for socialism, glory, and fame. Their commander General Barry Tek wasn’t much different. He was the best Gibraltarland had and he was ready to show the world that he was the best there was.

They were almost ready to approch the shores. They had several ideas of what awaited them.

To bad none were right.

IC:The Red Tideans had engaged the Gibraltar aircraft at 250 kilometers. The MDSM-4 had a range of 400 kilometers. The remaining Gibraltarland Aircraft that decided to go on kamikaze missions or continue flying towards their targets would find another 268 SAMs hurling towards them. The missile-plane ratio would be higher in the missiles favor because there were now fewer planes.

OOC:Making an assumption that the Air Chief is a carrier.

IC:The Air-Surface Ordnance fired by the incoming Gibraltarland aircraft was meek and easily destroyed by the ships defenses. Any bombs that were dropped were dropped too far out to do any damage to the ships and any air-surface missiles fired that were capable of reaching the ships were taken down by SAMs before they even got in range of the Point Defences.

Then the Gibraltarland fleet was detected entering Teslian Waters. The SuperDreadnought BattleGroup was inbetween the Gibraltarlandian fleet and Teslia. It appeared the combat ships was made up of a single carrier, probably the one that launched the aircraft attack, and a few escorts... probably some frigates and a destroyer or two. The rest appeared to be troop transports. The Admiral aboard the BattleGroups flagship, a GREENY Class SuperDreadnought, smiled.

"Wait until they are within 450 kilometers."

The CM-1 Anti-Ship Cruise Missile had a range of 500 kilometers, a top speed of mach 2.3 and carried a 1,500 pound warhead. The warhead was loaded with C12... Kraven Technology that had been stolen from what was once Kraven by the Red Tide Mafia, then purchased by the Red Tide Military, and finally reverse-engineered. A thousand pounds of Kraven C12 could wipe out a city block... but the warhead on the CM-1 was shaped, and therefore could focus that incredible explosive power into one direction. Therefore, a direct hit by a CM-1 could severely damaged a Battleship... much more a carrier, its escorts, and some transports.

So the BattleGroup waited for the Gibraltarlandian ships to reach the 450 kilometer mark.

OOC2: What are the exact stats of the fleet your sending?

A periscope breaks the surface, scanning the harbor.

"Looks like the militia are there. They torched the governemnt gunboat. Blow all ballast Surface!"

"Aye, aye captain. Blow all ballast! Surface!"

A few moments later the dark form of the submarine breaches the surface, the displaced water flowing off of it's hull. It's engines begin to churn and it eases into the shallow water of the harbor. On the conning tower, a seaman and officer stand with a seamophore lamp It begins flashing.

"Attention militia, prepare to recieve shipments of arms. Good shooting."

Several rubber launches are dragged on deck and inflated. Crates are hauled up as well and soon the small flotilla begins moving towards the pier. The first Kilani sailor on the pier is a naval lieutenant, who salutes the militia before gesturing to the crates.

"We have brought you arms, comrades."

Two sailors haul one of the crates up, sweating with exertion after the paddle in. The lieutenant opens the crate, revealing a row of factory-new AK-107 assualt rifles.

"AK-107s. Ten crates of forty. Factory new...Never issued. Plus, enough ammunition to fill six clips for each. We also have these."

He gestures at another batch of crates being loaded onto the pier, "Panzerfaust anti-tank rockets, from Kreigzimmer Storefront. Some of the best anti-armor weaponry on the planet. We also have some light mortars and machine guns."

If they were destroyed then the enemy would control the skies. That was something they couldn't afford.

Commander Reginald Fran turned to her. "We think we masked how large we were but were still heavily outnumbered. Admiral, I trust every member of this crew but after the air battle I'm not sure if we really are superior to RedTide2."

"Maybe not. But we have an advantage they don't."

As the Gibraltarland fleet reached the 450 kilometer mark... their threat recievers lit up like a christmas tree. A split second later, their RADARs showed a large numbers of fast moving dots coming out of the larger signatures that were the Red Tidean Ships. The Red Tidean fleet was arrayed in a standard battle formation. With the MOCKINGBIRD Class frigates encircling the entire battlegroup, forming an AA Picket, the TIDAL WAVE Class destroyers were staggered so that some would be with the frigates and some would be just behind the frigates. The two RAVEN Class AEGIS Cruisers would normally be positioned to the on opposite ends of the capitol ships, this time around they were both positioed on the same side... the side facing the incoming Gibraltarland fleet.

Next were the G-Battleships, these were positioned on the outermost of the capitol ship line because they had the shortest weapons range... and fewer weak points then the M-Battleships. The M-Battleships were positioned behind the G-Battleships, all though they had the same amount of armor as the G-Battleships, they had more weakpoints, namely the Vertical Launch System tubes which were thinly armored. In the dead center of the battlegroup were the TSUNAMIS Class Carrier and the flagship of the group, a GREENY Class Superdreadnought.

What was so unique about this launch was each ship timed their launches so that the missiles would all arrive at the same time. This was known as Time-On-Target, or TOT. Each CM-1 rockeed out of their VLS skywards, then descended to an altitude of a couple of feet to make them harder to shoot down with SAMs. In total, 1,300 CM-1 Anti-Ship Missiles were launched. Targetting both the Gibraltar land warships and the transport they were escorting.

Your anti-aircraft guns are firing at something moving approximately 1,500 miles an hour. Thats approximately 750 miles every half hour. Approximately 375 miles every 15 minutes. And so on and so forth. I would round it down to about 5-10 miles A SECOND! Leta assume five miles. That is 8 kilometers a second. "I'm going to lose."

President Herman Chonsy sadly said those words in his office as he read the war report. Most of his aides prepared to open their mouths to try to change his mind until Noah Lede beat them to it.

"That’s crazy sir! The people yelled for war and you gave it to them! How dare they throw a fit now?"

"Noah, the people wanted to win a war. The best we can give is a stalemate. Unless we win the sea battle we'll all be seeking new jobs next week."

Lede wasn’t convinced by Chosny's words. "All people are a bunch of cry babies."

He stamped out of the room. Chosny had only given the people what they wanted! They couldn't turn him out of office over a lost war!

But what if the lost war didn't look lost?

In his apartment Lede wrote the letter that would be smuggled out of the nation illegally.

Dear Leaders of RedTide2.

You win. We'll withdraw our forces and reimburse you triple for all damages. However, we have one condition: our nation must keep face. If you withdraw your fleet, we will declare a tactical victory and end the war.

If the deal was accepted, the president kept his job. If not...

Lede didn't want to think about the state of the nation under Chonsy 's successor.

The Battle:

The planes that had been launched were quickly engaged by SAMs at a range of 250 kilometers. About 116 missiles were launched against the incoming planes.

Even worse, for the enemy, they appeared to be trying to close gun range. The Red Tide fleet let them. Then, when they arrived at 130 kilometers(which was still outside the guns of the enemy battleships), the 'Greeny' SuperDreadnought opened fire. The 'Greeny's' 25 inch electro-thermal chemical(ETC) guns dished out less damage then the 'Greeny' could absorb... but that would still be quite alot. The shells were guided by the ships extremely powerful RADAR. A single 25 inch shell, loaded with C12 and moving at velocities that could never be achieved with non-ETC guns, could rip a enemy Battleship to shreds... even better, it was unintercepterble by Anti-Air weapons. In addition to the Greeny's shells, another wave of CM-1 Cruise Missiles was launched... exactly the same amount as last time. This time, more of them were targetted on the transports.

OOC: How many missles do you have? So far in this thread you've launched 1,684.

IC: Results of the Presidential election:

Nancy Hickry: 37% of the vote.

Greg Chapman= 22%

Lar Beliska= 18%

Herman Chonsy= 10%

Others=13%

Hickry and Beliska have formed a coalition stating that they will accept a fair peace deal. Beliska personally favors the Teslian government and is trying to contact them to end the war.

OOC:Alot, all the ships except the G-Battleships and that carrier are equipped with Vertical Launch System(VLS) Tubes, they take up very little space and can be reloaded. They are capable of firing SAMs, ABMMs, SRBMs, and Surface-Surface Cruise Missiles. There are quite a few of them. My 'Greeny' Class Superdreadnought has 2,000 of these ALONE!

Ottawo's Capital

"Fighting continues in and around the waters of Teslia, and on the mainland, in a push for socialist independence in Tlska. Comrade brothers in arms, fighting for socialist freedoms are dying under the hands of the Fascist pig Marshall Namazov, and his brutal siege warfare-...

Commissar Nagamo shut off the T.V. It had been reporting in the same fashion for weeks, and reports had been landing on his desk in his newly built Head Commissary Office. no fewer then a week after Ottawo had come into existence then his people started to thirst for blood again. He didn't have any troops to spare, he was still quelling pockets of resistance, and even if he had his entire army available it would be pointless to try and send that size of a force into the fray. He had to take drastic measures, otherwise he would lose support of his people in a time when he truly needs them. Calling forth his military advisors, and his domestic analysts, he would see exactly what course of action would be best for the motherland.

OOC: Consider this a tag of interest for now, and an opening. It's a bit late, and I can't think straight enough to make a full fledged post.

If one ship can fire 2,000 missils why is it so implassable that for of mine can fire 1,300?

(OOC: Sort of the first of a few catch up posts. Bear with me for a bit.)

The engines roared as the trucks and ligh scout vehicles forced their way through the slop that was the dirt road that wound itself through the hills and back areas outside of Brjevo. Grim faced Teslian soldiers, almost all masked by balaclavas, carrying assault rifles and submachine guns of varying type, and wearing the heavy fatigues and patches of the Teslian army waited in the beds of trucks, hanging on despite the bumpy ride. In the distance smoke rose from a large, scorched clearing where the CHA choppers had gone down. The radio chattered as the sounds of warfare carried over the gray distance. Overhead the scream of a jet engine could be heard, but it was unsure to whom the aircraft belonged.

The trucks rolled off of the dirt road, onto the rolling, wet grass of the clearing, heading towards a pair of downed choppers. Elsewhere, similar teams were converging on the other crash sites. The soldiers trained their mounted heavy machine guns on the visible survivors, fingers on the triggers, waiting for someone to make a move. As they drew even closer, shouts came in Teslian calling for the survivors to come out, throw down their arms, and surrender.

The trucks and scout vehicles pulled into a circle, surrounding the crash site, keeping heavy weapons trained on the helicopters. The masked Teslian soldiers jumped down and walked over to the surrendering Useans. They talked among themselves, occasionally chuckling as they regarded the foreigners. A few moments following, another car pulled up, and a man in a uniform noticeably newer and cleaner stepped down. His face was unmasked, save for a pair of sunglasses over his eyes. His hair was jet black, and his jaw strong and sharp. He strolled over to one of the soldiers, standing over a perplexed looking Usean.

"What are we going to do with them, sir?"

The officer took out a pack of cigarettes and put one between his lips. He bent down and struck a wooden match against his boot, lighting it as he looked the Usean in the face. He offered the back, saying in accented English, "Smoke?"

Nijaz Sjepievic grinned broadly as the foreigner popped open the crate full of deadly gifts. He sauntered over and grabbed one of the rifles, lifting it to his shoulder. His mouth watered as he placed his finger on the trigger. He glanced behind him and called to a compatriot in a Tlskan dialect. A pair of militiamen came forward, dragging a wounded Teslian soldier. They pushed him forward and he stumbled, falling to his knees, head lolling. Blood soaked his shoulder and his upper thigh, and his glassy eyes scanned the scene, trying to make sense of it all. Sjepievic took a loaded magazine and shoved it into the rifle, letting the satisfying ‘click’ sound in the quiet air. He took aim at the man’s chest. The crack sounded out over the village, and the man was blown backwards, sprawling on his back. Sjepievic turned to the foreigner, grinning wider than ever.

“These will do.”

He shouted to his comrades and the trucks advanced, the militia fighters loading the new shipments into the beds as quickly as they could.

The lieutenant seemed slightly shocked that the militia had just killed a POW, but he said nothing. He had heard tales from his father about the invaders during Kilani's civil war. Apparently they ahd used civilians as human shields and...worse.

He nodded, trying not to show his shock, "You will find all of the weapons in working order. I believe they will help your fight against the opressors. Good luck comrades."

Encrypted Transmission
TO: Teslian and Doomingslandian Executive Governments
FROM: Prime Minister Yao Yang Nelson Neo
SUBJECT: A Plea

Greetings,

As a former leftist turned right, I used to abhor dictators like yourselves...til the day I discovered that democracy was a farce. I used to have nothing against communist heathen states like the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics before it became the Totalitarian Oligarchy of Laurasia, whom I used to hate until not too long ago my amiousity ceased to exist.

The Laurasian Government recently did something valiant, something the Noble Dictatorship of Teslia should note: when the filthy state of Pythogria threatened invasion as part of their vile democratic communist imperialistic oppression spreading program, the Laurasian Freedom Fighters stood against the Pythogrian Filth (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10547697&postcount=7) and along with several member-states of the World Anti Communist League, warded the Loathsome Pythogrian Communist-Democrats off.

However, now is the reason why I feel that I have been deceived - oh, how foolish was I back then to believe the fat slob Michael Moore! I now support dictatorship - it unites the people, unlike the disgustingly flawed idea of democracy. Yes, I am now a TRUE supporter of righteousness and justice! Glory to Corporatism!

Deceived by whom, you ask, now getting back onto topic? The Democratic States of Wingarde. A noble, peacemongering ally of mine, President for Life Atne Pavelic of the Fascist Republic of Kravania, was recently attacked by the belligerent countries of the Allied States of The Lone Alliance, the Sovereign Republic of Willink and the Democratic Imperium of McKagan to name a few. What do they have in common?

They were deceived. Like myself. The Democratic States of Wingarde is a CENTRAL part in the communist manifesto. Like the communist heathens they are, they are against any commitment to justice and morality. They quickly revealed themselves as anti-capitalist, and exploit other nations for their own nefarious means. They have effectively deceived my people, and are holding my nation and myself hostage via their overwhelming political-economic iron-fisted grasp. Holding my beautiful countrymen too, they even hold the military in their heinous iron-clad claws.

Fortunately loyal and non-corrupted and ever-valiant incorruptable intelligence bureaucrat has found several more nations that are held in the Wingardian oppressive grasp of communism:

Triancia
Listeneisse
The Vuhifellian States
Kjata Major
Wiltshore
Brutaltopia
Agonnoga
Czardas*
Karmanyaka
Sovietain
Angermanland
Roach-Busters*

Doomingslandian Executives, you may be wondering why your Roach-Busterian ally is on there - they have been deceived into thinking that the Democratic States is a free capitalist republic! How absurd! Convince them they are not, and unleash their military on this abomination from hell. Blast every single Wingardian government official to smithereens, make them pay for their genocidal oppression! Even one percent of deceit from Wingarde is the Apocalypse itself!

Van Luxemburg is also a potential threat - first they imperialize the peace-mongering peoples of Guyana Island, whom have recently overthrown their oppressive Van Luxemburgian warlords - whom themselves actuallly are not oppressive warlords and hate to do it and would never, but they can't, as the iron-fisted grasp by the Wingardian Totalitarian Oppressive Abomination of Hell Communist Slime-Bag Filth Governemnt and Central Part of the Global Communist Manifesto is too strong!

You may also be wondering why the Czardaians are on there - the entire armed conflict is rigged. Minister Alhoun secret ADMIRES CAD, and so does the so-called "sodomite" Sarzo - it turns out that the ENTIRE WOODSTOCK PACT is another Wingardian Communist Tool.

Why do I message the Teslian Noble Leadership this? Because it could happen to TESLIA too. Tremendous amount of support has come to your leadership in this possible rebellion - take advantage of it and save my nation, and you shall gain more allies. Wingarde is the APOCALYPSE!!!!

Help me! You can't let the Totalitarian Oppressive Abomination of Hell Communist Slime-Bag Filth Governemnt and Central Part of the Global Communist Manifesto of a UNIVERSAL THREAT go unchecked!

Signed with Utmost Respect,
Currently: His Leadership,
To Be: His Divine Omnipotency
Prime Minister of the United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia
To be: Illustrious Supreme Master Overlord Imperator of the Corporatist Empire of Southeast Asia

The officer got to his feet, ignoring the Usean’s question. He looked around, furrowing his brow, before turning to the NCO at his side and saying something in Teslian. He walked back over to his car and got on the radio. He returned a few moments later and continued conversing with the NCO.

“We don’t have room to cart them all off. Get the healthy ones into the trucks.”

The NCO began shouting orders as the Teslian soldiers corralled the Useans who could walk, putting them in the trucks, and leaving the wounded lying strewn where they had fallen. The engines roared and the trucks set off, leaving several dozen Teslian soldiers. The officer looked around and turned to the NCO. He said something quietly before walking off towards his car. The NCO nodded and drew his pistol, putting it to the head of the man whom the officer had given a cigarette. He pulled the trigger as the rest of the Teslians raised their rifles and unloaded on the Usean wounded.

Telgrade, Teslia-

Five weeks since Teslian leader Josef Namazov began his campaign in the rebellious province of Tlska, the seige of Tlskan cities under militia control continues, with no clear progress being made on either side. Militia forces, believed to be weakening and on the verge of breaking a week ago have shown a distinct revitalization, with weapons and armaments appearing to be in no short supply. It is suspected that foreign involvement in this hot zone has led to the re-equipment of the militia, something that has sparked controversy among nations looking for a quick end to the war. Also notable in the theater was the disappearance two days ago of several humanitarian aid choppers flying under Usean colors. The Usean authorities have been unable to make contact with the aircraft's crew or passengers, while the Teslian government has given no statement on the matter, save the assurance that if the crews are located, they will be taken into protective custody until they can be returned safely to their superiors.

Brjevo

The fighting had grown increasingly more intense since the arrival of the first shipment of new arms to the militia fighters. For the first time it seemed as if they stood a chance against the superior numbers of their foes. Raids had been led against artillery positions, easing the burden on the city's inhabitants and giving some respite to militia commanders seeking to lift the seige. However, snipers continued to dominate the streets in many areas, making no distinction between civilian and military personnel. Casualties on all sides were mounting and ammunition was running low. It was time for a bold move.

Half of the SID detatchment landed several weeks previously had made their way to the besieged city of Illkutsk. The other half has detoured around and was currently trying to make it to Brjevo. Their commander peared through binoculars at the ring of men, guns, and vehicles around the besieged city.

"This is going to be tough. We will establish a base camp near here, but be sure to keep it hidden...We will launch raids against the besiegers, take out isolated patrols, destroy artiller pieces, and hit incoming convoys. If possible we will make contact with the Militia. FOr now, we will wait..."

The SID troops faded back into the woods.

Official Teslian Government Response-

To: Southeastasia, whomever it may concern

We apologize for the delay in our response, however our secretaries had been working overtime in cleaning a particularly large coffee stain from your communique so that it would be legible. We regret that some letters, sentences, paragraphs may have been lost in the cleaning process, however we have been able to decipher the general gist of your message.

Unfortunately, we will have to respectfully decline the offer to join your hallucination. We, the Teslian National Government, have no problem with communist nations so long as we ourselves are not troubled by them. In fact, some of our best friends are communists.

To truly promote a free-trade based nationalism, we of the Teslian National Government find it necessary to embrace all nations regardless of internal policies and extend trade offers for the benefit of our own national coffers. To take a self-righteous stand against nations purely because of their internal economic policies seems foolish, and dangerous to say the least.

There is our answer. We wish you good day and good luck in your campaigns.
