5 Turkish divisions crossed the border aided by rebel guides. The Arab Legion's division in Iraq began attacking the ill-equipped and unprepared Iraqi army, and seized large sections of Baghdad, though the royal family managed to escape. Rebels rose up all over the country and the army could not deal with all of them at the same time. it would only be a matter of time before all of Iraq was "liberated"
