History
The island that now makes Talisea was founded in 1829 by colonists from America, but a supercell destroyed the colonizing ships. The colony developed in isolation until 1910. By this time the inhabitants had established an Emperor to rule solely over the island, and a smaller body to serve under him as a Parliament. The ships that ran across Talisea in 1910 brought Ottoman Turk forces, from the regressing Ottoman Empire, as dominators of the island. The Emperor was killed, and the islanders were enslaved by the Turks. As World War 1 came, the Turks were not called off, so the island stayed in remission as the Turks ruled it without interference as outside contact was very limited. In 1950, the Turk rulers had grown lax, using their weak military forces for the occasional execution, when the enslaved colonists gained control of a weapons stache in the dense forests. Using this, they rebelled against their captors with sheer will and with what arms they had, catching the Turks off guard. Most were killed quickly, though some escaped to launch smaller attacks from time to time until December 7, 1951, when the last of the resistance surrendered, and met their messy deaths. The Emperor was reinstated on that day, and explorers were sent on the ships from the Ottomans to make contact with the outside world once again. Doing so, the Taliseans were suprised to know the advances of the global community, and began recieving and trading for the latest technologies. Since 1951, times have been quiet for Talisea except for an Islamic revolution in 1999, by insurgents claiming in the name of Allah to reinstate the glory of the Ottoman Turks. The revolution was bloodily put down by Imperial forces. The Empire has become a major scientific center of medical research and also focuses much on policing and military duties.
