Resurgence of an Empire (FT)

It had been a decade since the tragic and gigantic battle that had brought about the change in an era. The Empire of Thrashia, wishing to challenge the once defunct apparatus of the Sith controlled Galactic Empire, had fought hard with its allies against the Sith. The struggle, while well planned and strong, failed. The Thrashian system, home to the Thrashian Empire for well over a millennia was destroyed by the suicidal efforts of the Sith allies.

However all was not lost. Using portal and warp technology the entire Thrashian population was able to safely escape to the hidden systems under the control of Parlim, the oldest ally of Thrashia.

The Thrashian Imperial Fleet, while heroic in its efforts had not been able to counter the massive amount of enemies. With the battle turning and the Thrashian home world destroyed the Fleet withdrew.

Thus ended the largest battle of the era, bringing out the new Galactic Empire under the rule of the Chronosian Empire and it’s own Emperor; thus ending the rule of the Sith.

However, now the hurt of that war has been healed. The Thrashian Empire has once again rebuilt its fleets and armies and its people have been steeled for a new age of prosperity and glory. The Empire of Thrashia had returned.

It had been a long time since the Imperial Fleet had been gathered. From the last great battle and with the death of Grand Admiral Alabar, the Fleet had lost nearly all of its command ships. Both Eclipse-class Star Destroyers had been destroyed. Of the once proud navy of thousands, only some bare thousand had escaped the battle.

The ten years that had allowed the Empire to recuperate since then had allowed for the Armed Forces to be rebuilt. Now, the creme of the new Fleet stood assembled before the Epion command station.

Grand Admiral Schwartz, old and bearing steel-coloured hair and wrinkled skin stood erect as the top officers of the fleet entered the briefing room. They were made up of Admirals, Vice-Admirals, Marshals, and Captains of importance. Grand Admiral Veers, half as young as Schwartz, but no less experianced, stood nearby at the wall. Veers had commanded the 9th Fleet during the last great battle. Having been recognized for his heroic efforts he had been promoted by the Emperor to replace the now dead Alabar. When all the officers had seated themselves, Schwartz began speaking.

"Gentlemen, greetings. As you all know, we have now completed rebuilding our Imperial Fleet. Our Empire has rebuilt itself from scratch. Our Clone Armies have been reorganized. We are fully back to where we were ten years ago." There was a soft russle of conversation, anticipation at what was coming next.

"The system we now inhabit was provided to us by our allies the nation of Parlim. While this system is currently adequite for the time being, we are in need for more resources. Escpecially if we hope to remain strong. I leave Grand Admiral Veers to continue," said Schwartz. He nodded to Veers and sat down himself.

The room darkened and a holo-map of the nearby systems 'hugging' the Julian system appeared. Veers indicated the Julian system in red. "This gentlemen is our home system. To our flank here-" he indicated another spot next to them"-is the Parlim system. They have thus far aided us, as Grand Admiral Schwartz said, with materials to help us rebuild our Empire these last ten years. Our merchant guilds have rebuilt our economy and we are once more where we were ten years ago. But we need more land." A small amount of laughter came from the small Fleet joke.

Veers pointed to two local systems. "These are the Opel and Fornalia Systems. The Opel system has five planets, three of which are made mostly of ore, and two which are temperate living spaces. The Fornalia system has 8 planets. Even more gentlemen, for our friends down at the ordinance office to supply and set up trade routes. The planets, five are rich in ores, one is more molten lava than anything else but still usefuly, and two are able to be used for food production," said Veers. Some of the officers showed signs of wanting to fall asleep at this geo-lesson. Veers smacked a fist into the table in front of him.

"This gentlemen is our objective. To annex both these systems within the coming year. Our scouts report that only the Fornalia system has intelligent life upon one of its planets. The other system has only lower species animals. Your job will be to draw up invasion plans." Veers stood and typed in a few digits. Several sets of official order dataslates appeared. "Here are your individual objectives and your time tables for how long until you have to plan them out." The officers began chatting and reading their orders.

"You have seven days."

Opel System, 0900 hours

Space was quiet, nothing disturbing the fabric of its deep rich blackness. The few planets, some ore rich and others fertile in land, were just dawning; their primitive civilizations continued on with their lives as the systems star shown light upon them, signaling the start of a new day. They plowed their fields, fed their children and animals, and woke up to the new dawn…a dawn that would change their worlds forever.

Out of hyperspace burst a small group of ships. Their arrow shaped frames angling toward the unsuspecting planets like the knifes’ of Death. There were seven of them, along with several other smaller ships, Tie fighters flew out in front of the formation of large ships, scouting the system.

“Captain, we have entered the Opel System. So far comm scan has detected no enemy vessels, nor opposing ships of any kind,” reported a Lieutenant, his data report coming up on his consul screen. A man, dressed in the tight fitting uniform of an Imperial Captain of Thrashia, stood by the port window looking out at the awaiting orbs of life. He turned to the Lieutenant standing at attention there a few steps away.

“Thank you Lieutenant. Have the scouts continue their patrols. Tell Captain Niles on the Eroberung that he is to begin a launch of probe droids throughout the system. I want it fully patrolled and watched at all times,” ordered the captain. The Lieutenant saluted and turned smartly away to follow his duties. The Captain turned back to the view. He looked at one of the largest, a beautiful blue-green orb, and that Intelligence had dubbed Opel Prime. He heard the door of the bridge open and the increase in the sound of ‘busy-ness’ from the crew. Admiral Limar had come up from his personal chambers. The Captain turned and saluted smartly, his graying hair swaying as he turned.

“Admiral, we have entered the Opel System, thus far no signs of any enemy activity have been seen.,” he reported. Admiral Limar walked over next to the Captain and looked out. He nodded. “Very good Captain Trius, has the rest of the fleet arrived as well?” Veirsan asked.

“Yes sir, all seven of the Star Destroyers and supporting vessels have arrived on schedule. I have taken the liberty to have the Eroberung begin launching probes to patrol of system, so as to keep anyone from surprising us,” said Trius. Limar nodded and put his hand behind his back, looking out into space.

“Good Trius, very good; has comm scan detected anything on the planets’ surfaces?” Veirsan asked, he turned his eyes to the green-blue orb.

“No Admiral, according to what the last scans showed, the level of civilization the locals are at is not of any consequence to us. They are still at a stage of, I had to research the ships computers for this, ‘powdered guns’ and are not in too large numbers. We estimate under a few hundred million on Opel Prime, and perhaps a few million on the other ariable planet in-system,” said Trius. Limar nodded again.

“Very well captain. Bring us in orbit of Opel Prime and begin our operation, have the Cossack and the Odin’s Eye begin operations over planets Opel 1 and 2. The Emperor is expecting us to keep this expansion quick and under a tight schedule, I want no slip-ups. Understood Captain?” asked Limar, he had turned away from the view and space and was now looking strait at Trius.

“Understood sir, I will begin deploying the fleet now,” said Trius. The Admiral nodded and marched off the bridge. Trius stepped out of his attention stance and walked to the communications crew pit. “Lieutenant, begin deploying the fleet, and give me a transmission line to the Cossack and the Odin’s Eye. We will be starting operations.”

The man rubbed the dirt off his hands onto his tunic as he stood up from the earth. The sun beat down on his small field from above, few clouds were present in the air. He looked from his hill-top view into the small settlement to the west. He smiled when he noticed the small form walking down the trodden path from the town. It was his wife leading the milk cow over from the market. He imagined her soft skins again as he closed his eyes and leaned on his wooden plough shear. Suddenly his dream was disturbed. Disturbed by the sound of thunder and a loud roar.

He opened his eyes and before him saw red thunder pouring down upon the earth around the village, as if it was rain. His eyes widened with horror as he thought he heard the faint sound of a scream, and his wife disappear in a fountain of exploding earth. He ran. He ran down the hill, onto the path and towards his wife. He forgot the red lighting that was still raining down. He did not see it. All he saw was his wife’s gentle face.

The man reach a small crater in the path, in it his wife laid, her body burnt and mutilated. He fell to his knees, tears pouring down his cheeks as he reached down to her. He felt such pain.

Then he felt none. Suddenly he saw his wife standing before him again, as if the red rain had never come, she smiled and offered him her hand. The two walked into a great white light and disappeared.

Captain Trius flinched when he saw on the viewing monitor a Opel prime local hit directly by a laser. “That must have hurt,” he thought to himself. He turned to the other tactical screens and watched as his ship the Domitian and other smaller cruisers were laying down a barrage of laser fire from orbit around the planets of the system.

The other two planets, Opel I and II, were receiving the same treatment. “Well it will soon be time to land the troops,” he said aloud to himself. He walked over to the comms officer.

“Alert General Covel that he may begin his preparations for landing now, I will notify him when he is able to launch,” said Trius. “Yes sir,” replied the lieutenant.

The Thrashians didn't detect any opponents because they were all totally inactibve, and made from a material that was no longer known to the world. 400 ships of the Zeji Armada were held on the moon of the first planet, and they were now coming alive.

Below there was a full legion of Zeji Warriors. Ten Thousand cloned Zeji Troopers, 4,000 Mechalisks, Stormriders, and all the other various Elementals and Combat Forms of the Zeji Armada.

OOC: The ships are on the moon. The Warriors and other such creatures are BELOW, on the PLANET. As for what they are, they're a non-canon SC race, the remnants of a once extremely large Empire. I've been using them for first contact recently, but they're also wll suited to this situation as well.

The CommScan operator of the Odin's Eye frowned at his screen. He worked his controls a little and adjusted some settings. He kept frowning harder. He turned to his superior.

"Sir, I think I have a problem." The deck officer walked over to stand behind the ensign and leaned forward.

"Whats the problem ensign?" asked the Deck Officer.

"I've checked twice but my scanners and the computer keep detecting these anomalies," said the ensign. He leaned aside so the deck officer could get a better look. The deck officer frowned.

"CommScan says that they could be metal objects but I can't detect any kind of power source or heating signiture that would designate enemy craft. But nothing..." said the ensign exasperated.

The deck officer stood. "Send a probe."

You have transgressed upon our space. Prepare to die.

That was all the warning the Thrashians would recieve before the Zeji Armada came on line, and 400 powerful ships, backed by nearly 3,000 various independent fighters surged from the surface of the moon into space. Their first target was the Probe, just a small group of fighters. Their next target was the ship that had dispatched it. The first ship to draw their ire would recieve the full brunt of their fury. Thousands upon thousands of Terrawatts were sent against it, as bolts of Plasma and coherent light shattered space. Orca and Leviathan Carriers disgorged even more fighters, deadly Mantas and suicidal Morays filled space around the fleet. Not so numerous as the fighters that had moved on their own, but still enough to face down most opponents. The trio of Kraken Dreadnoughts in the vanguard let loose with their Charybdis Cannon. Even if the enemy somehow managed to survive the blasts from 400 ships, there was no way it would still be mobile.

ooc: ouch, kinda laying it on, aren't you? 400 ships?

IC:

"Incoming hostiles!" yelled the CommScan ensign over the blare of alerts going off over the bridge. "Incoming, multiple craft! Unknown, xeno!" The ship shuddered as a few bolts of energy.

"All power to shields! 150% output on the reactors!" yelled Captain Doran. The Odin's Eye rocked as massive amounts of fire came upon it.

Captain Triuss cursed as he watched the Odin's Eye engulfed in a fiery fussilade of fire. "Bring the taskforce about! Retreat! Emergency hyperspace jump! All ships! Tell the Odin's Eye to break off if possible!"

All across the sector the seven Star Destroyers and their support ships turned about and jumped into hyperspace. The Odin's Eye however did not make it.

"Shields are failing! We're at maximum output!" cried the ensign. "We need to evacuate!"

"Too late," said Doran. A large beam of plasma slammed into the bridge of the Odin's Eye and it blew into a great ball of flame.

OOC: Well usually since a ISD is said to be enough to turn a planet to slag, I dont use huge amounts when exanding into "unoccupied" territory. Such as the Opel System. It was charted as unoccupied, so FHQ thought that seven ISDs and their support craft would be enough. But, unless you lower the number of ships...I'll have to jump in with a lot more ships, and that just ruins the rp in my opinion.

The task force that had entered the Opel System, had retreated and fallen back to a smaller planet out-system. There Admiral Limar debriefed the officers under his command.

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b184/Upum/Star%20Wars/i_81177-564x376.jpg

“We must reconsider our battle plans, and frankly Captain, your decision to pull the fleet out was completely uncalled for. You should have contacted me through normal channels before ordering the entire fleet to move,” said Admiral Limar. He walked back and forth in front of the Captain Triuss and a ring of other junior officers. Limar stopped pacing and turned to them.

“However I have received word from Grand Admiral Veers. The rest of the Fleet shall be joining us. This unexpected resistance will not last.” Limar pressed a few keys on a consul near him and a tactical display opened up. “Here are the new battle plans. Study them and hope you don’t embarrass yourselves or me next time.”

They will return with reinforcements, can we defeat them?

They are young. A Hydra seems equal to their large ships, though Barracudas and Orcas will be overmatched. We also have 4 Krakens. They will not be victorious.

Our weapons are individually more powerful, it is almost certain. I believe they mount more weapons though. We are liable to be both outnumbered and outgunned, in quantity, if not necessarily quality.

Then prepare the Armada. Have we any remaining Tiamats?

One, lord.

Then we will use it against their largest ship, whatever it should prove to be.

As the Lords of the Zeji planned in space, the planet bustled with activity. Tritons skimmed the surface, gathering together the assembled forces of the Armada. If they could not hold in space, they would not allow their warriors to be destroyed on the ground. As the first of the Krakens and Hydras prepared for battle, the Zeji Tritons began leaving the system.

It was the largest Fleet undertaking and muster in over 15 years. Fleets from different sectors and taskforces were recalled from whatever missions that had been designated for and reassigned under Grand Admiral Veers. For this new undertaking would need planning, and a hell of a lot of it.

Admiral Limar had sent Veers all data that CommScan and other sensors had picked up from their encounter with the enemy fleet. Then Veers took that data and fed it into the MAGI computers aboard the Epion. The enemies according to the MAGI report were old. Very old, older than most species and alien races that the Empire of Thrashia encountered. Their weaponry was similar if but like their race, old. The MAGI reported that one of their plasma beams and other laser shots were either on par or beneath the power of a SD or SSD. Not to mention that the larger ships which had helped further to overload the Odin’s Eyes shields, firing what an ancient weapons test called the Charybdis Cannon, were not near the power of a Shadow-class Cruiser and its massive “Death’s Hand” grand cannons. Thus prepared, Grand Admiral Veers put together his fleet: 700 Imperial Star Destroyers Mk II, 4 Imperial Super Star Destroyers Executor-class, 6 Shadow-class cruisers, 10 Scorpion-class carriers, and the newly made 1st Mobile Fleet.

Because CommScan had detected a presence on the planet’s surface as well, the Clone Armies were assembled. The entire of the Felix Legions were assembled. The elite clone army that had helped spread the Thrashian Empire for well over its history.

The Zeji armada had gathered together. A once massive outpost of thousands of ships, now reduced to this. 400 ships, and some 3,000 fighters. An enemy of unknown strength, but mounting heavier guns, and having the one Tiamat, it should be enough to make any assault a devastating option. Whenever they struck an enemy with the Charybdis Cannon they would be locked out of time, giving the Zeji a short advantage, especially if they could strike the enemy flagships with their opening volley, bringing them to a halt for several minutes. However the battle turned out, the damage to both sides would likely be catastrophic.

On the ground there were still several thousand Zeji Warriors, Stormriders, Mechalisks, and various other troops of the Armada. They had gotten approximately half of the warriors off of the planet, but there were not enough Tritons left to take them all away to another world.

“Above” the area where the alien forces had first been encountered in the Opel System, some 300 Star Destroyers blasted out of hyperspace, led by two Super Star Destroyers from the ‘top’ center of the formation.

“CommScan detects valid targets at 30 degrees down angle Admiral. It matches the same readings that we were given by Grand Admiral Veers,” said an ensign. Admiral Davir nodded.

“All ships are to take valid targets and begin battle. All Tie Fighter Squadrons, launch when ready,” said Davir. “Then alert Grand Admiral Veers that we have begun engaging the enemy on schedule.”

“ Yes Sir, Admiral.”

Like a great wave of light, the 300 capitol ships opened fire “down” onto the enemy presence. Thousands of Tie Fighters, Interceptors, and Phantoms, Advanced, and Tie Bombers squadrons launched in clouds and formed into different formations. They sped into the enemy at high speeds Tie bombers concentrating on larger ships while the Tie Line Fighters and Interceptors engaged enemy fighters.

At the appointed time, after receiving Admiral Davir’s message, another 300 Star Destroyers appeared out of hyperspace “below” the area where the alien had first been encountered. This group also had seven large Shadow-cruisers with them.

“Alert Admiral Davir to our presence, and have the fleet engage the rear of the alien force. All Tie squadrons to launch and engage enemy targets,” said Admiral Mic’Fearson. He sat aboard his Super Star Destroyer in his command chair on the bridge. His force contained his own command ship and that of Admiral Early, the two SSDs leading the fleet.

“Admiral Davir reports have fully engaged the enemy fleet,” said the communications ensign.

“All Star Destroyers to advance to mark-two combat speed. All ships to engage. Have Captain Kirk on the Dark Lance move his Shadow-cruisers to engage the larger alien ships.”

“Yes sir.”

The second wave of Star Destroyers maneuvered and hit the alien force in the rear hard, heavy laser batteries blasting away, as well as a host of ion cannons. Waves of Tie squadrons sped and maneuvered through the fleet and began engaging the rear of the enemy fleet, overwhelming the alien fighters with sheer numbers. The Shadow cruisers took careful aim and with resounding ‘crump’ sounds blasted their each “Death’s Hand” Grand Cannons into the larger alien ships.

In the final step of Grand Admiral Veers' battle plan, the last group of 100 Star Destroyers blasted out of hyperspace "next" to the alien forces, smashing into the flank like a jackhammer. The Leviathan led the group from the rear. Fighters swarmed, entire clouds seeming to engulf the enemy. Turbolaser batteries roared and colored flame spat out sending deadly darts smashing into enemy ships.

The battle was entering into the final stage: an all out dead or nothing battle between the alien and Thrashian Fleet.
