The Unholy War (Kahanistan-Jagada War)

Najaster,Kahanistan

Kahanistan was by no means a nation gleaming with pride, at least not at the moment. It had lost two wars, one to infamous Automagfreek, and another to MassPwnage, the large, now Soviet, nation was attempting to rebuild from two costly wars. Their people probably need hope, they probably needed something to restore public support in the Surpreme Soviet Republic. A nation ripe for terrorism, or so thought Derick Maxwell. He was apart of the relatively unknown terrorist organization called Society Against God (SAG), for years and during both Civil Wars, SAG had attempted to take over the country to establish a Leninist State--to put religion under the thumb of the true 'all knowing' force in the world, Humanity. Though, they had failed during both and even betrayed. The situtation in Jagada was desperate to say the least, SAG was under constant pursuit by the Crusaders, even in the Morvik Mountains--their headquarters, and that was why he was here in the Surpreme Soviet Republic. SAG knew, and do did Derick, that there was no way they were going to convince Kahanistan to declare war on Jagada. So that is why he signed up for this one-stop mission, to force Kahanistan to help SAG.

A voice suddenly brought Derick back from his thinking, "Hey, here comes the truck," said a voice, the voice of Parker Briggs--one of his operatives.

"Right," said Derick and stepped out close to the road. They were standing on a remote stretch of road in the desert, they had found this road thanks to intelligance gathering by SAG to some of the atheist population in Kahanistan, of coarse none of them knew SAG was going to attack, and money was a factor in their information. There were standing in the entrance to an unmarked dirt road, a perfect ambush place. The truck coming down the road was full of debris, probably from some ruined city in Kahanistan. He was dressed in construction uniform, and so was he men--cleverly obtained by some petty theft. He waved both hands in the air, trying to wave the truck down. Luck was on Derick's side, seeing Derick the truck began to pulled off to the side of the road, and stopped in front of Derick. The driver rolled down the windows.

"What is the problem," asked the driver.

Derick, "Well, this is strange, but we're a little lost. We come from the eastern provinces, we're just out here to get some work, and we don't quite know the way to Najaster, do you know?" asked Derick.

The truck driver laughed, "Well of coarse, you just keep going on this highway--"

The truck driver had turned his head forward pointing with one of his hands, taking the oppurtunity Derick pulled out his silenced pistol and put two rounds in the truck drivers head, he fell over his steering wheel, with a small stream of blood rolling down his face. Derick signaled Parker and the two men rushed the truck, pushed the driver in the center of the long seat. Derick got in the driver seat and hesitated for a moment seeing the blood of the driver on the wheel. "Go!" shouted Parker as he entered the truck and noticed Derick's hesitation. Derick snapped back into reality, overcame his fear, and placed his hands on the bloody steering wheel. He pulled the large dump truck down the dirt road for about a mile and stopped, and making sure no one was around threw a quick scan. The two terrorists got busy.

They had several explosive bured in the sand at the sight, ingenious gathered thanks to the black market on weapons and explosives in Kahanistan. Surely with the population, economy, and military shattered the people were desperate enough to engage in such a dangerious market scheme, purely for the money to feed their starving families. Derick had cleverly marked the sights by sticks which to a normal driver or even military personel wouldn't seem too suspicious to dig up the area. As they exited the truck, Derick looked at the blood on his hands and remebered they would have to do something with the former truck driver. With that he signaled Parker and they hid his body about twenty yards off the side of the road. They then dug up the explosives and placed them into the rubble on the back, this would increase the damage as it would not only destroy the government building but send rocks and peices of metal across the area. After placing the explosives into the rubble where it would be hard to spot, they got into the truck and headed back towards the main road. They arrived and quickly took off towards Najaster.

Once entering the city they knew with the unfiorms, and the fact that recostruction was in process, seeing a dump truck bringing debris from one city, threw another city, to another area wouldn't be too suspicious. They had already picked their target and knew exactly where to go. They had chosen a financial institution in Kahanistan, it was in a skyscrapper. The explosives they had at most would cause the building to become instable and topple over, at least it would knock the first ten stories several feet into the air and do a lot of psycological damage. They drove down the streets trying not to attract any attention, hoping their show would hold out.

Though as they got within a hundred yards of the skyscrapper a Kahanistani police officer flaged them down. "So what do we do?" asked Parker looking nerviously at Derick, "Do we stop?". Derick didn't response but instead he hit the accelerator and the truck went alive and began to go at top speed. After knocking a few unfortunate cars out of the way, and hitting a few unsuspecting people by accident, the dump truck slammed right into the front doors of the building and drove right into their lobby. "Now!" shouted Derick. Parker didn't hesitate, he pulled out the detonator and pressed the red button on it...mission succesful.

[OOC: CLOSED RP. I probably didn't follow the rules of terrorism here, but we both wanted this attack to succeed Kahanistan, so I just gave it more detail.]

NAJASTER, Kahanistan (AP) - Today, a truck bombing in the capital leveled the Global Trade Bank in the business district of Kahanistan. An estimated 42,000 citizens are dead, and police and medical personnel are sifting through the rubble for additional bodies. 19,000 bodies have already been found, as well as 56,000 survivors.

So far, nobody has claimed responsibility for the explosion, although the Doomingslandian group Manus Dei (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10385091&postcount=6) ("Hand of God") are the most likely suspects, according to Deputy Defense Minister General Nora Kasagawa.

[Photograph of a Japanese looking woman in her early fifties, wearing a military uniform.]

"At present, the Government of Kahanistan has no idea who committed this attack, we are assuming it was someone with a certain level of sophistication we have seen in religious terrorists before," said Kasagawa, 53. "Currently, our intelligence services are seeking to identify the perpetrators, but we are not leaping to any conclusions at this moment."

If Manus Dei is responsible, it would be the first known presence of the Catholic terrorists in Kahanistan. Doomingsland is known to be hostile to Kahanistan, but Manus Dei's relationship with the Imperium Doomanum is unknown to Kahanistan Intelligence at this time.

Richard smirked as he heard the news from Kahanistan on the television. The mission went much better than expected, over forty thousand dead or wounded. He had expected at most around a few hundred, this overwhelming success would only increase the chances of a Kahanistani retalitation. Now was the time to send the message. Richard sat up straight in his clothing which reminded him of what the Romans use to wear. Yes the Romans were religious, but they didn't let 'gods' or 'God' get in the way of progress and even persecutated the early Christians. The ideal peoples to follow. The recorders were set up and the camera aimed at him. With that, and with the his fellow operatives giving him a thumbs up he began to speak.

"The recent events which have occured in Kahanistan are not unfortunate! The thousands that lay dead deserve to lay dead! They are sinners and they are nothing more than Satan's children who work in the even Sinful Soviet Republic. I am Richard Triari and I am the leader of the organization known as Society Acting For God (SAFG). We have come to Kahanistan because despite being crushed under Saint Dreadfire, and being crippled by MassPwnage you refuse to give up your sinful ways. This is an warning to the People of Kahanistan. Convert now or in the name of the Almighty God we will kill every last one of you! Heresey and the wicked who worship Satan and his ideals will not be left to taint this world!"

With that the camera immiedately cut off, and Richard let a smile across his face. That was probably not radical enough to spark war, but with forty-two thousand dead and Jagada's staunch stance against Communists, it would probably help instigate war. "Wow, you sure you didn't use to be a God-fearing man Richard?" said one of the camera crewman. "Maybe in a past-life," said Richard laughing a bit.

It didn't take long, however, to get the tape to Kahanistan. Reason being was because it was immiedately sent to an operative who then flew into Kahanistan, which wouldn't have taken very long. Once there it was simply a matter of dropping the tape off at the government offices. All in all about a day or two, which would give the Kahanistani people time to work up their anger due to not knowing who was behind the attack.

Najaster, Capital of Kahanistan

Presidential Palace

Office of President Mohammed bin Yusuf al-Za'if

"What do you know about this... 'Society Acting for God' that has just claimed responsibility for the attacks?" asked the President, a fat Arab dude.

"Absolutely nothing," said Margaret Delray, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. She was an average-framed woman of about 40, with light red hair and a freckled face. "We don't even know where they're based, nobody's ever heard of them. Probably just some home-grown wackos, we get crazies here all the time. 'Saint Dreadfire?' The guy's obviously a nut."

Turning to the Interior Minister, President al-Za'if nodded. "I want more police put out on those roads, have the Republic Guard help if you need them, keep all large trucks away from buildings that might be terrorist targets, and put squads of armed soldiers on all flights. We're not taking any chances. Also," he said to Delray, "find out if there are any religious nutjobs in nearby countries who might do that."

(OOC: I don't see anything that would implicate Jagada in the attack.)

Christendom, Jagada - Good evening ladies and gentlemen, our top story tonight is the recent terrorist attack in Kahanistan by the terrorist organization known as Society Acting For God. While under normal circumstances, the Jagadian Government and Lord Protector York would have turned a blind eye to this situtation as it occurs across the world, everyday. Though it was the name of the terrorists which caught the government's attention. Lord Protector York offered his condolences to the people in the attack, which automatically seemed strange to many people, since he rarely offers his sympathy in a press conference.

A government link, yesterday, confirmed that the government was not truly sorry about the attacks that Lord Protector York made those statements because the government has found out that the SAFG is actually the Soceity Against God, the long-time terrorist organization which was declared an enemy of the state by the Norris Administration during the Religious Commonwealth. This has caused a shockwave throughout Jagada has it now appears that SAG is changing sides suddenly--"

The anchorman was cut off when the screen switch to what one would think was a home-made movie, very unprofessional in its contents. It was the face of Richard Triari. The message was new, or so it seemed:

"Greetings people of Jagada. Humble servants of the Almighty. As you all know, I am Richard Triari, and I am a servant of God--like you. I have attacked the evil and corrupt Kahanistani government and their Communist demons. Now I come to you, saying that in the name of Lord Protector York and the Trinity Empire I will slay the demons of Kahanistan for the Empire and ensure God's Will is done!"

The screen immiedately returned to the anchorman who looked pale, "Well ladies and gentlemen there you have it. Appearntly SAG has gone...religious...."

It didn't take long for this to hit national news, and in turn international news. It would only take a few hours for it to reach Kahanistan. Though considering Jagada wasn't a known nation in the world, it would be difficult for Kahanistan to know about SAG or about the people of Jagada and their connections with SAG.

[OOC: My apologies. I figured your intelligance would have tracked the guy who delivered the tapes and found he came from Jagada and then that he got back on a plane and went back to Jagada. Finger prints and such would have given you some information and all, but its cool. I'll do something. Also this post won't be good because I didn't plan on writing this one. Sorry.]

DEMOCRATIC SOVIET REPUBLIC OF KAHANISTAN
Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Government of Kahanistan knows that the Meritocracy of Jagada is harboring the SAFG terrorist maniacs who have murdered 44,000 innocent Kahanistanian civilians. We demand that the Christian fanatics be either turned over to us to stand trial as murderers and terrorists or punished in Jagada.

Lord Protector York stood reviewing recent documents delivered to him about SAG and their 'conversion' to Christianity. It wasn't possible, he himself was rescued by SAG during the War against Norris, that was true. Though when Remington betrayed them and nearly destroyed them he was surprised they would remain this peaceful, much less convert to Christianity. He sighed, he wasn't sure what he was going to do with them. What was their plan? Why had they attacked Kahanistan of all places? Why would they say they fought in Jagada's name? As York's mind pondered on this, suddenly the phone on his desk came alive with the feminie voice of his secretary, Juli Reen.

"Lord Protector York, the Secretary of Foreign Relations is on the line for you."

"Thank you, put him threw," he stated now giving his full attention to the phone call. On the other end he heard the voice of Houston Watkins, the Secretary, "Hello? Lord Protector York?"

"Yes, whats the problem Watkins?" he stated.

"I'm sending you a fax now sir, I think you'll find this distrubing," said Watkins with his voice clearly being nervous.

York turned to the fax machine which had come alive without him realizing it. Once it finished he read the paper, it was a message from Kahanistan about the SAG attack on their nation. York immiedately got a bad feeling in his stomach. He had two choice, comply and give into a Communist or tell Kahanistan to suck it up and be a man about it. Either way would have serious consquences. Jagada was a member of the World Anti-Communist League and cooperation with Communists probably wouldn't be smiled upon. He sighed, obviously Houston heard this. "Sir, you do realize the situtation, right?"

"Yes, I realize the situtation Watkins," said York with clear dissent in his voice, "Hmmmm...well we don't much have a choice. Send the following message..."

Offical Imperial Statement

We will have to decline both. I am afarid you provoked this attack by the SAFG, and you should have to deal with it. This local terrorist group has been peaceful since the last civil war, if they attacked you before they even launched an attack on atheist in our own nation then it is a clear sign that you provoked them somehow. I would suggest you forget this whole ordeal, your people have paid for your aggression.

Signed,
Lord Protector York

Delray looked at the letter in disbelief. WE provoked THEM? These terrorists were clearly nuts, they referred to Damien the Destroyer as a saint. Why in God's name is Jagada protecting them? Why attack us now, of all times? We haven't had relations with them, haven't attacked them... Something is fishy.

General Kasagawa entered the room. Minister Delray looked up at the older woman. "I received a copy of the letter, your secretary sent it to me," said the Deputy Defense Minister. "I recommend a show of force, but nothing too aggressive for now. A reserve division, maybe 25,000 troops and 1,000 older Lion of Babylon tanks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion_of_Babylon_tank)... maybe some artillery, might be time to work on the next generation of Merkava tank while we're at it."

Two days later

The 308th Republic Guard Armored Division, a reserve unit that had not yet demobilized from the war with MassPwnage, pushed across the Kahanistanian border to head for Jagada. Their orders were to hunt down the SAFG terrorists, and only engage Jagadan government forces if they were attacked first. The troops were a show of force, not an attempt to start a war.

Crishbal, Jagada

Crishbal was a border city, a large city but one that was partially destroyed during the Fanatical Civil War. Luckily no nuclear weapons were used on the city and the troops didn't have to walk around in suit to reconstruct the dead city. Crishbal only had about four or five thousand troops working on it, along with providing basic police duties and trying to defend the city. An overwhelming task for such an undermanned garrison.

Major Brent Figueroa wiped the sweat off his forehead with his forearms, he'd rolled up his sleeve. Most of the Crusaders didn't wear their combat gear primarily because it was black, and black attracted heat. He stood on top of a building, at the moment he was trying to fix the electric system for the building so the air conditioner would work. Though no for the people who lived there, they hadn't come back to the building and were presumed dead by the government and local authorities. So the building was being rigged and set up to be a 'lounge' for the troops to rest in when they had their fifteen minute breaks during their regular working hours. He cursed as he allowed two wires to touch that shouldn't have and sparks flew. He stood up to take a breather, he was getting too stressed about it. He looked up, however, to see dust rising in the distance like a dust storm was coming. In southern Jagada that wasn't really possible, it was mostly grass around here and plains like, so to see so much dust couldn't be natural. He pulled out his personal binoculars to see if maybe the Crusaders were moving from one point to another. As he peered threw the binoculars to see a surprising sight.

He knew Jagadian tank designs, he knew the Legionnaire Main Battle Tank (a copy of the M1A1 Abrams) didn't look like what he saw, it looked like a T-72 of sorts. He'd seen a few of them in articles and magazines and he'd be taught to identify them while at the Miltiary Academy since it was Soviet equipment and usually widespread. Suddenly he noticed the flag on one of the vehicles, and realized it wasn't Jagadian but Kahanistani. Kahanistan was a Soviet Republic just across the border. Orders had been given in the past to attack any incursion across the border, regardless. He turned around and shouted at the soldiers on the ground.

"Hey! We got problems! Kahanistani troops!" he shouted. The soldiers on the ground scrammbled and their radios came alive giving the information to the higher ups at the city.

Immiedately the city was put on high alert and troops ran to their defensive structures, of caorse by the time they got ready the Kahanistani troops were already out of their artillery range and obviously wasn't going to attack the city. Though the incursion was by now known to the higher-ups and Lord Protector in Christendom.

---

"So, is this a full-scale invasion or what?" asked Lord Protector York. He and a group of generals, including Field Marshall Haliberd, stood in the War Chamber an large room where military decisisons were made.

"Well sir, we cannot be sure if this is just the spearhead of an invasion or if its just a small incursion. Though Crishbal as clearly seen this force, at least a divison they say," stated Field Marshall Haliberd.

York honestly didn't expect military action by Kahanistan, maybe some hateful words and some denouncement of Jagada's belief in God. This definately caught him off guard, and even put some stress on him. Jagada wanted to win a war, but he wanted the war to start on his terms and continue on his terms. Now he had to react to this, and at the moment at least Kahanistan was dictating his stratgey.

"Any nearby divisons?" asked York.

"Well, there are several but most are keeping the peace in various cities and towns until the police departments there canc reorganize. Though I have one in mind, the 18th Mechanized Divison, they don't have a lot of tanks, but are fast and could probably convince the Kahanistanis to go home," said Haliberd.

"I see. Inform them to intercept the Kahanistanis but not to fire on them. Order them to go home," stated York with a stern voice.

"Yes sir," stated Haliberd.

---

Within under an hour the 18th Mechanized Divison had been contacted and ordered to head towards the Kahanistani divison. The forces stopped about twenty miles from the Kahanistani Divison and immiedately set up a small defensive network. Fox holes, some barbwire, a few mines, artillery implacements, SAM missile sites, along with a deployment of all thirty-thousand troops, along with APCS, light tanks, and a handful of Legionnaires. The divison commander, a Major General Warwick, knew his forces lacked armor support, though they made up for it by outnumbering the enemy, having a defensive line built up slightly, and knowledge of the terrain, and a good number of anti-tank weaponry.

Immiedately a messenger in a HMMMV was sent out to the Kahanistanis. The message was clear and bold, "Go Home".

The incursion commander, Major General Ahmed Mustafa al-Madini, replied to the Jagadian messenger.

"We're not here to fight you. We're here to look for the terrorists who murdered almost 50,000 civilians, for being atheists. Many thousands of Jews, Christians, Muslims, and others were also killed due to their indiscriminate bombing. Many more are injured, some disabled."

He sighed deeply. "You saw us get too close to one of your cities and not attack, we're clearly not an invasion force. This isn't even a main-force unit, we have shitty old tanks," he nodded to the Asad Babil, "not enough artillery, and only a few SAM batteries. We're just combing the countryside for places terrorist bases could hide."

The Jagadians would notice the soldiers, despite being reserves, were all wearing NBC under their body armor, barely visible beneath their uniforms. They had suffered chemical attacks in the Freekish and Pwnage wars, it was standard procedure now.

The messenger looked at the ground and thought for a moment, his objective was to convince the Kahanistanis to go home, and he would do so however possible. "Major General, sir, with all due respect your not legally in this country. You never asked for permission to enter and so far what you've done has warranted a declaration of war on behalf of my country. I will have to ask you to please go home. If you advance any further then Jagadian forces will engage your units."

The messenger had to make a forciful statement. Something to convince the Kahanistanis that Jagada was serious. In fact, that was what Major General Warwick had told him to do--force Kahanistan to leave one way or another. The messenger showed external motion or emotion about what he was about to do. He waited until the Major General began to speak. Clearly he was surronded by troops, but if he came to only sweep the area they probably wouldn't be on high alert to a messenger. As he spoke, the messenger pulled out a plastic handgun from his sleeve, he did it in a motion that wasn't aggressive and looked more like he was fixing his uniform. He slung the plastic weapon out and simply pulled the trigger, one shot rang out. He hoped the shock would force his troops to hesitate for a moment, giving him a few seconds to try and flee. Though, one bad thing here was, he had no device or signal which told Warwick he had killed the general or not, Kahanistan's reaction would dictate weather Warwick knew or not.

[OOC: Sorry if this is a bit unrealistic. I would prefer to get to the fighting a little more quickly. That is unless you had something else in mind.]

The Kahanistanian field commander fell to the ground, wounded. His guards rushed him into one of the tanks, where a medic tended to his wounds. He would likely live if he were taken to a better facility, or at least if the bleeding were stopped, but he was unconscious and would not be commanding troops for a while. The general's safety took precedence over going after the assassin, but now they knew the messenger was a terrorist.

The intelligence officer who had witnessed the shooting relayed her findings to Minister Delray and General Valens, the Defense Minister. As far as they were concerned, that was sufficient evidence to assume that the Jagadian government had created the SAFG as a front for their terrorist activities.

Only after the general was removed from the area did the Kahanistanians try to capture the assassin, but by then he had fled.

A bead of sweet rolled down General Warwick's face. The situtation was already tense, and if that messenger did the 'last resort' move, it would clearly mean he had to attack, least the Kahanistanis call upon reinforcements and his divison be overwhelmed. The flap to his tent was opened and in walked three men. Two Crusaders, in full battle gear (http://www.the-junkyard.net/images/characters/halo2/char_odst.jpg) and the 'messenger', who doubled as an assassin for the Trinity Empire. Warwick looked at the messenger who had sweat running down his face.

"So I assume you failed?" stated Warwick with displeasure.

The messenger had to take a minute to breathe, "No sir, mission successful. The enemy general is injured, I know that at least."

Warwick's eye widened, a successful mission. He had a chance to capitlize, even with a chain of command it would take the Kahanistani Divison's co-commander at least an hour to fully grasp the situtation at hand, and get information from his government on what to do. "Very good."

"Contact the airbase in Genisis, inform them to begin attacking the Kahanistani Divison. Primarily target the armor," stated Warwick, who now walked out of the tent. One of the Crusaders rushed off to go and give the information, while Warwick stood looked out over the vast plains--war was coming.

It only took about thirty minutes and the first wave of A-10 Warthogs screamed over the heads of the Crusaders, towards the Kahanistani Divison. He was hoping the element of surprise was still on the A-10s side. The A-10s came in low in an attempt to stay out of any enemy RADAR. As they came in they fired on the first armored vehicle they saw. The A-10s numbered around twenty or thirty, generally undermanned for a Jagadian airstrike--whos doctrine followed mass attack. The A-10s did as many strafes as they could before they pulled back to base for more ammunition. Though as that wave finished, another group of A-10s, this one numbering around thirty swept into the area and laid down similar fire, also targeted at armored vehicles. After that airstrike finished its full run, a group of bombers were kept in reserve and told to be ready for their own strike. If the Kahanistanis didn't get the message to 'Go Home', then prehaps getting hit by several thousand pound bombs might get the message across.

The soldiers of the 308th Armored Division returned fire at the Warthogs with the few Patriot launchers and Stingers they had while the majority of the armored forces broke and fled back toward Kahanistan. The division XO radioed to the HQ in Kahanistan.

"The Jagadians are bombing us, we've taken heavy casualties, the division commander is wounded, we don't know the details, but he's in critical condition. We're not going to be able to win with a reserve division. We'll need a better division for this."

Original strength: 25,000 troops, 1,000 Asad Babil tanks, 1,000 Paladin 155mm guns, 20 SAM batteries

"It appears the enemy are fleeing back towards Kahanistan, sir," stated a Crusader, who also doubled as a personal aide for Major General Warwick.

"Don't let a single one of them get across that border. Order the Genisis Airbase to begin 'Total War' doctrine. Destroy the entire divison," stated Warwick. Normally, he wouldn't dare order that kind of aggressive move, but he had to show these Communist that he was serious. He had to show them that this was Jagadian land and that they weren't going to just waltz in whenever their emotions swayed. This also served as a psycological factor, if the Kahaistanis saw on their televisions and entire divison utterly crushed for an illegal incursion into Jagadian territory it would show one of many things, primarily the fact that their nation, this Surpreme Soviet Republic, had just suffered heavily for an illegal invasion.

The bombers that were in reserve were now called upon. These were the massive, four-engine bombers that were heavily used during the Fanatical Civil War by, to no ones surprise, the Fanatics to try and defeat York--they failed of coarse and now those same bombers were being used to crush the remnants of a fleeing Kahanistani Divison. There were about four or five of these massive beats and they struggled to get off the ground, being a little heavier than B-52 Stratofortress'. These heavy bombers didn't take long to get over the fleeing enemy units. After situtating themselves they let loose their bombs, several of them. As these bombs were confirmed to be hitting the ground, and hopefully terminating all the enemy troops--then the mirco-bombing began. Several A-10s, along with several Fighter/Bomber took off from the Genisis Airbase and quickly caught up to the 308th Republic Guard Armored Divison. The A-10s followed their ususal task of picking off the armor when it become visible. The Fighter/Bombers simply dropped cluster bombs over concentrations of enemy infantry and vehicles where possible in an attempt to maximize damage.

The Patriot missiles continued to engage the Warthogs and bombers, aided by the infantry weapons of the Kahanistanian soldiers when the Warthogs flew too low. Kahanistanian soldiers rarely moved in tight formations, as it made them more vulnerable to cluster bombing or other destructive ordnance.

They were not that far from the border, so stopping all of them was going to be next to impossible. However, a new tactic would have to be developed if this situation was not to escalate. The Ministry of Defense already had one planned out, but right now, the survival of most of the 308th was of prime importance. The Defense Minister was going to be President soon, and he didn't want to see the military losing this badly under his watch.

Over 1,000 troops had by now already made it across the border...

Losses: 3,281 KIA, 5,574 wounded, 332 tanks disabled, 119 guns disabled, 7 SAM batteries disabled

Current strength: 19,740 soldiers, 7,785 wounded, 537 tanks, 802 guns, 10 SAM batteries

25-02-2006, 09:35
The A-10 Warthogs had suffered the most from the SAM Missile Batteries, around four had been lost so far, but only after suffering heavy damage, along with five or six more being damaged. The B-52 Stratofortresses were surprisingly saved, some were hit but not enough damage was done to warrant a crash or crash landing. Though after realizing they were getting too close to the Kahanistani-Jagadian border, and without proper fighter-cover they turned about and called in to be met by F-22 Raptors to protection. The F-22 Raptors met the B-52s about half way, and assisted them back to the airbase.

Things on the ground, however, we much more chaotic. Warwick was overjoyed that so far he'd only lost a handful of aircraft, and around a billion icons worth of bombs, but at the expense of thousands of enemy dead and hundreds of shattered enemy tanks. A good exchange in his eyes. He immiedately sent order to continue entrenchment. Sending out UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to fly and and be liked an bird at most on RADAR, they would be the scouts for the 18th Mechanized. Warwick contacted Christendom about the results, and so far Lord Protector York was pleased with the events. He never wanted to have to engage the Kahanistanis but clearly they needed to be taught a lesson. With their reserve divison shattered--he believed he'd got his point across.

Though after loosing nearly every war they were engaged in, the Crusaders had learned alot. First and foremost was never celebrate victory until the enemy surrenders, and your sitting with your family at home. Even if you score a major victory never celebrate, only rejoice with your comrades after the fighting is over. They knew they had to be ready for a Kahanistani counter-strike, all the men along the line knew the Kahanistanis would, it wasn't a matter if--but when.

After the short message warning Jagada to hold their fire, Leocardian Leader Scott Jesse wanted to be part of the war. Leocardia's Special Forces Unit: "Lion Fury", has been trained for several years and has become fully elite in it's force of 150,000 soldiers. Despite the army, Leocardia's Airforce and Navy have drastically improved over the years since its establishment in organization of platforms and technologies.

Two days later

Najaster General Hospital

Major General Ahmed Mustafa al-Madini, the incursion commander, was seated in a hospital bed, recovering from his wounds. He was conscious, but in no condition to fight. He had chosen a civilian hospital, feeling that it might hasten his recovery over a military hospital, which had fewer amenities.

General Marcellus Valens, the Minister of Defense himself, debriefed the injured man.

"What happened out there?" asked the Defense Minister. The seven-foot man towered over the Major General even when he was able to stand. The Defense Minister sounded calm, as he always did when questioning someone.

"We were stopped by a Jagadian division, they told us to leave, then their messenger shot me. I think the Jagadian government sent the terrorists to bomb us, then claimed the group was a rogue. They'll never admit it," said al-Madini weakly. "They have Warthogs, heavy bombers, heavy infantry... a reserve unit can't stand up to them."

"You said most of your losses came from air attacks?" asked Valens.

The injured commander nodded feebly.

General Valens thought for a second. The best air commander in Kahanistan was General Valens himself. While it was not unheard of in Kahanistan for a Defense Minister to personally command troops in battle, his two predecessors had gone MIA that way. Some said there was a curse on the position.

He decided that the war in Jagada would have to be an air war, targeting Jagadian air bases and defenses. This would have the added benefit of reducing fatalities on both sides, as the bases could be destroyed or severely damaged with minimal losses if the stealth bomber pilots were careful.

The Kahanistanian Air Force was just as good as the Jagadian air force, if not better. Valens first spoke to Minister Delray on his cell.

Soon after, a letter was sent to the Jagadian Government.

The Government of Kahanistan is now convinced beyond doubt that your nation is sheltering terrorists, if the terrorists are not in fact a covert arm of your government. Why else would you not only refuse to extradite them, but actually protect them when we entered to capture them?

We strongly urge you to cease this willful support of terrorism, which will harm you in the eyes of the international community. Only by our cooperation can these foul beings undergo the punishment they deserve for the murder of 50,000 Kahanistanians of various faiths, or lack thereof.

We do not support these terrorists, and I need to remind you that I offered my condolences to the people who died in that attack. The SAFG are not a branch of the military, nor are they secretly working for me or my government. To think we would stoop the ideal of terrorism to defeat our enemies is sheer idiocy.

I warn you, Kahanistan, thousands of your dead now lay upon the plains of Southern Jagada, and by no means if your national pride increased by this. I ask that you simply call this whole ordeal off. Air Force bases, eastern Kahanistan

The Kahanistan Air Force fitted thousands of tiny, expendable Predator UAV's with one HARM and one AMRAAM each for defense, and prepared to send them into Jagada to gather intelligence. If the Jagadians were telling the truth, there would be no reason to fire on the UAV's. If the Jagadians were lying, as evidenced by, for example, attacking the UAV's, the Predators would double as SEAD strike units, disabling the offending air defenses.

It would take about five days for the 4,000 UAV's to be prepared, and they would have to be sent in waves of 500 for want of runway space. The first launches would not be for another day.

Southern Jagada

Word had come down from Christendom--Be prepared for a Kahanistani counter-attack. Warwick was worried though, by what means would the Kahanistanis counter-strike? With 18th Mechanized entrenched in Southern Jagada, along with two armies on standby for any major invasion of the nation. Surely the Kahanistanis realize that an invasion by that would only result in heavy losses. Warwick had already gathered intelligance from 'The Eye', the Jagadian Intelligance Agency, they had given him satelliate images, all of which confirmed two things. First, that the Kahanistanis weren't preparing any major ground offensive due to no mass movements of armored divisons or tanks. Secondly, that the Kahanistani Navy hadn't moved out of port nor where any military vessels appoarching Jagadian waters. Now of coarse intelligance could be wrong, though it made sense to Warwick.

That left the option of an Air War. Jagada didn't have a lot of information of the Kahanistani Air Force, so it was unknown of what aircraft they had acquired since the Freekish and Pwnage Wars. Though Jagada itself had two frontline interceptors and fighter-bombers. The JGF-Teutonic was the leading Fighter-Bomber, while the F-22 Raptor was used primarily in an air-to-air role, but also had ground attack capabilities. Prehaps this is where the Kahanstanis would counter-strike?

Warwick pondered for hours, should he order a strike, a pre-emptive strike into Kahanstani. Clearly it wouldn't be out of military doctrine to launch such a strike, espically since Kahanistan refused to stop military action. Warwick sighed, prehaps it was best to go ahead with such a strike, but not before he go adaquate information. With that he made a few phone calls to 'The Eye', of coarse he really wasn't just calling The Eye, but he called the people to get in contact with them. He asked simply for photographic images giving him the location of all Kahanistan Airbases which have the ability to launch fighter-bomber or interceptor attacks into Jagada, attacks which could reach as far as Christendom. It would take hours to get these images, but he was willing to wait.

The Republic Guard wanted to see how the Jagadians would react to some UAV's scouting for terrorists. The first batch of 500 would be unarmed. Hopefully not all Jagadian commanders were as trigger-happy as General Warwick.

Five hundred Predators flew towards Jagada, their findings and observations to be relayed by satellite to the Ministry of Defense. Kahanistan's air defenses were set to DEFCON-ORANGE, high risk of enemy attack. CAP's of F-22 Raptors patrolled the skies around the military bases, aided by E-3 Sentry AWACS. MiG's and AWACS patrolled the borders, remaining inside the Kahanistanian border.

These drones were only to scout out remote locations for terrorist bases. Their controllers were under strict orders to avoid Jagadian military installations and civilian populations. If nothing was found, then, and only then, were the drones to fly over civilian population centers, and they would still be unarmed, after all, they were there to find things, not kill them.

The Jagadian radars suddenly picked up five hundred birds on RADAR--which in Southern Jagada was borderline impossible. Threw this chaos, some thought it was a mass air raid by Kahanistan, other believes missiles had been fired. Though as the choas ensued on the ground. Above the UAV's scanned the remote areas of Southern Jagada, though they found nothing. The reason wasn't that SAG didn't exist, or simply didn't have some presence in Southern Jagada--it was the fact that SAG couldn't just have 'terrorist hideouts' in the Trinity Empire. The Crusaders constantly patroled the country for SAG, in an effort to keep pressure on them.

Though the centuries old terrorist organization was smart, they merged with the rest of society. They were amoungst the population, right under the government's noses--right in the middle of the major cities. This way they couldn't be isolated. Jagada had laws and policies in place to ensure Atheists were discriminated, though they were heavy taxed primarly because atheists in Jagada tended to be richer than the rest of society, and York didn't nessecarily believe in 'Free Capitalism', and thus taxed any rich atheist to the point where he was reduced to just a normal man in terms of wealth.

As the UAVs began to go over the city of Crishbal, a major city in Southern Jagada, the military garrison there was concerned and confused on what to do. Yes, they had seen the explosions as the Jagadian Air-Force massacred the Kahanistanis as they fled to their country, but the garrison itself had been given no orders to fire on UAVs. The UAVs were spotted barley, and only outlines could be made by the naked eye. Though the troops could have fired, they did not. The UAVs didn't open fire, and they were only scanning civilian areas. If any UAV got within twenty miles of any military base (save garrisons) they were immiedately shot down by any means nessecary. The Jagadians were willing to let the Kahanistanis get a detailed looked at half-destroyed major cities, but were not willing to let Kahanistan take pictures of military air fields, bases, and other such things.

To any experianced military man, once these reports of UAV's being fired upon came in, he would immiedately notice it wasn't random but coordinated attacks to ensure something was kept secret. It could have ranged from nuclear silos, to air bases, to troops concentrations. He would know that the Jagadians were secretly allowing some cooperation to take place--but only so much.

Najaster, Capital of Kahanistan

Ministry of Defense

General Valens looked over the report from the UAV controllers. Nothing. Well, that wasn't entirely true. They still didn't know where the terrorists were, but they knew where the terrorists weren't. That is to say, they weren't in the Jagadian countryside in remote areas. Satellite intelligence also picked up no indications of terrorist bases. Also, the only UAV's that were lost were about thirty that accidentally strayed too close to military bases. Kahanistan already suspected Jagada had nuclear weapons, but so did Kahanistan. Of course, Kahanistan hoped the conflict did not escalate to nuclear war.

This left open four possibilities. One, the UAV's had missed something. This was unlikely, they had pored over nearly every inch of Jagada with a fine-toothed comb. Two, the terrorists were hiding in the military bases. That would require massive infiltration of the Jagadian military or cooperation between the military and the terrorists, which Kahanistan had already suspected. Three, the terrorists could be hiding in caves or tunnels. Caves with terrorists in them look just like caves without terrorists in them to an UAV. Four, the terrorists were hiding among civilian populations as sleeper cells.

Cave networks deemed capable of supporting terrorists were marked on strategic maps of Jagada, and targeted for insertion of special forces teams from the Kahanistanian Special Combat Service, or SCS. Kahanistanian Intelligence agents would have to take care of the cities, looking for terrorists and infiltrating them. Something was fishy. Terrorists had not fired on any of the UAV's, was it because they lacked the weapons for it or because they didn't want to give away their positions, or because they mistook them for Jagadian UAV's?

The aim of the SCS teams on the ground would be to rule out any possibility of terrorist bases in remote areas, while the Intel in the cities would aim at ruling out the possibility of terrorists in the civilian population, before any further accusations of military cooperation were made.

So, four days after the intelligence from the UAV's was collated, ten SEAL insertion boats carrying ten SCS agents each left Kahanistan's lone port of Al-Bahr (roughly, "Sea Town," in English), in the northwestern part of the country, destined for Jagada, where it would arrive in three days. These boats had no contact with each other, and split up within a kilometer from the port. They would infiltrate at various points along the Jagadian coastline.

Each team had at least two agents who could speak the most common languages in Jagada, one machine gunner, one grenadier, two snipers, and two radio intelligence soldiers. All of the soldiers had basic first-aid training, and basic water combat training. Unlike most Kahanistanian soldiers, these did not wear NBC, which would be too obvious. They did, however, wear ceramic body armor under their camoflauge gear. The basic layout of the radio intel, language specialists, and commander were the same: a 9mm silenced pistol and a TAR-21 Tavor assault rifle, five days of MRE's, four clips for the 9mm and ten for the Tavor. The others were similarly laid out, except the grenadiers had M-203 grenade launchers attached to their Tavors, the machine gunners used a M-2 heavy machine gun, and the snipers used M-24 sniper rifles. The boats had plenty of rations for the three-day trip, but they would have to be capsized and sunk a kilometer or two from the Jagadian coast to prevent discovery.

The SCS teams were three days from Jagada...

Three days later

The total of 100 Special Forces soldiers landed at ten different points in Jagada, each destined for a different cave network or other area that had aroused the Defense Ministry's interest. Each team of ten men and women knew that the other nine teams existed, as they had seen each other leaving port, but knew nothing of their destinations, that being one less piece of information they could be interrogated for.

Two kilometers from their landing zones, the soldiers had likely consumed all the MRE's aboard the insertion vessels, now being left with only the MRE's in their gear packs. They carried ROWPU's for water, that being less of a hassle than having to figure out a way for them to carry twenty liters of water for a mission of several days. With those devices, they could drink ocean or lake water. Of course, they did have canteens, but they only held one liter of water.

They capsized their insertion boats about two kilometers from the shore, and each crew member made a mental note of where they had left them, so they could get out of Jagada. They then swam to shore, and immediately sought out places to hide and figure out which direction their destinations were in. Combat uniforms and military rucksacks were waterproof, so maps, weapons, ammunition, and the like were safe. The SCS then moved into the caves and streams that the Defense Ministry deemed likely places for terrorists to hide.

Sergeant Ishmael Goldstein wondered out loud why the Republic Guards couldn't simply bomb the caves and pump them full of nerve gas. Why should he have to slog through mud and seawater and bats the size of his grenade launcher, when a bombing raid would be just as effective and wouldn't get him killed? The squad commander answered his question.

"Because a bombing raid would make the Jagadians bomb our territory, our civilian infrastructure," said Captain Ehud Lipshitz. "You're from Al-Bahr, right? Do you remember what the Freeks did there?" Who could forget the razing of the city that needed to be totally rebuilt after the invasion, the forests of the impaled, the VX that poisoned the land? "Do you want the Jagadians to do that again?"

Goldstein shut his trap and quit his bitching. While the Jagadians were nowhere near as brutal as the Freeks, neither was MassPwnage, and they killed indiscriminately, but without the senseless tortures of the Excessively Armed Empire of Automagfreek.

The soldiers trudged through the most inhospitable terrain in all of Jagada, in search of the cave network that Intel had pointed them to. The next day, they found it and began their search for the terrorists. On nine other points in Jagada, the other SCS teams had managed to locate their assigned areas of operations and search for the terrorists who had bombed the bank and murdered thousands of Kahanistanians.

"Commander, we have rodents in the hole, I repeat, we have rodents in the hole," stated Seargant Thomas as he spoke into his radio. He looked back at his team of Teutonics as he awaited the response. The response quickly came, "You have a green light to engage, I repeat, green light to engage," stated a voice on the other end. Thomas couldn't help but realize the bitter sweet moment he was in. Tuetonics regularly roamed the country, along with the regular Crusaders, due in large part to a rapid increase in bandit activity following the end of the Fanatical Civil War. Teutonics were the Jagadian Special Forces, and they existance was actually denied by the government. Jagada held a code that special forces were for cowards who couldn't fight man-to-man, though Jagada had secretly realized the importance of special forces since the founding of the nation. The Teutonics were spawned during the horrors of the Fanatical Civil War. They actually existed during the Jagadian-Macabee Colonial War, but during the war, like most Jagadians troops, were massacred by the superior Macabee forces.

Though taking lessons from the Macabee Special Forces, combined with being given a 'trail by fire' in the last civil war, they were now crack infantry, even for special forces. Hardened by a civil war, and very bitter they were brutally effective--many said they didn't have souls that they were simply 'hollow-beings'. Nontheless, Seargant Thomas and his men had spotted a group of enemy troops marching threw their country--a very surprising find to say the least. Under his command of coarse was the regular make-up. He had ten men in his squad, which was standard and by no means irregular, and within his squad he had two heavy machineguns, two snipers, one greneder, one explosives expert, and four small arms. This current squad was going into a cave system. Seargant Thomas already knew the cave didn't have any other exits, he'd traveled it a dozen times and more. He too at one time thought it was a weapons cashe for some rebels, but in reality it was a decoy cave meant to throw one off, which meant it was simply a regular cave that naturally looked supicious. Rebels used the things all the time to throw Crusaders, who didn't know the entire terrain, off.

He waited very quietly, having his men stay low and generally keep to ground. As the Kahanistani troops moved into the cave, Thomas had his men very slowly, and very quietly move across the ground. Even to a scout inside of the cave, with night vision equipment it would be difficult to tell there were enemies outside. And even if they had been spotted, they had to come out of the cave eventually. The troops were positioned though, expecting the enemy to know they were outside.

Now it was merely a waiting game...

Captain Lipshitz and his squad searched the cave for over an hour. No terrorists. No weapons. No hidden passages. No sign that anyone had been there in the last six months. He gave the order to leave and look for other nearby caves, tunnels, etc.

Standard operating procedure for special forces was to never turn a corner without knowing what was around it. That blind spot could enable someone to shoot you or throw a grenade on you or even slit your throat, if you weren't careful. On the other hand, it was unlikely that there was anybody around, after all anyone in the area would have had ample opportunity to simply toss a few grenades into the cave, but then the sentry at the cave mouth would have shot back...

A lone SCS soldier, a member of one of the Kahanistanian military's elite forces, crawled on her stomach toward the exit, with a sliver of mirror for use peeking around corners and the like, as was standard procedure when turning a corner. She had her silenced pistol drawn, too, in case whatever was out there wasn't too friendly. The sentry covered her with his Tavor.

(OOC: The mirror bit came from Saving Private Ryan, and I saw no reason that other soldiers, especially special forces, wouldn't use it.)

The question that went threw all the Teutonics minds was, Do I fire now? The answer was, no. Even with a mirror it would be difficult to locate them. The snipers as located themselves on the flanks, which would make it a little harder to see them then anyone else. Though seeing threw their scopes they caught reflections from the mirror. It was doubtful whoever wielded it saw the snipers, using camoflague along with remaning perfectly still. What it had done was give the sniper knowledge that there was at least one person at the exit of the cave and that in all probability it meant that the Kahanistanis were exiting the cave finally realizing it was empty.

The Teutonics kept quiet, knowing that any sudden sound would alert the Kahanistanis. A fire fight was definately going to break out, Thomas just hoped it would be on his terms.

The soldiers began to slowly creep out. The radio intel troopers were the last to leave, if someone attacked them on the way out, they were going to at least be able to tell the Ministry of Defense that there was nothing of strategic value. "No hut. Only ghosts." Of course, if the Jagadians fired, the Kahanistanians would likely think that the Jagadian Special Forces were the terrorists, or "rats," they had been hunting, instead of the "ghosts," i.e. Jagadian soldiers, to be avoided rather than engaged.

"No hut, making for Epsilon-Beta." To disguise the number of SCS teams in Jagada, each team took the designation of alternating Greek letters, so the ten were called Alpha, Gamma, Epsilon, Eta, Iota, Lambda, Nu, Omicron, Rho, and Tau. The enemy who heard the traffic would think there were Beta, Delta, etc. squads, or 20 instead of 10. The second letter in "Epsilon-Beta" denoted the second cave in Epsilon squad's area of operations. A "hut" was a terrorist base, or weapons cache.

In the two seconds it took to say that Epsilon-Alpha was empty, it was unlikely the enemy would even detect the Kahanistanian radio traffic, let alone make sense of it or figure it was going to the Defense Ministry's Office of Special Operations.
Jagada
26-02-2006, 20:54
Thomas began to squeeze the trigger when he suddenly heard someone cry out. "In the name of Jagada!" shouted a voice, and suddenly the sounds of gunfire filled the area. In a matter of a minute the area was illuminated in the errie light of muzzle flashes. Thomas looked around at all of them--the rifles were too loud to be Jagadian Hali-42 Assault Rifles, they almost sounded like AK-47s, or M-16s. Outdated weapons by Jagadian standards. Though he could see the tracers coming out of some of the muzzle flashes--machine guns. Though the where the tracers were going was surprisingly, they were all flying in the direction of the now fully exposed Kahanistani Special Forces.

Suddenly, despite the loud sounds of gunfire, since by now the Kahanistanis were firing back, Thomas heard something over his radio, "Sir, who in God's Great Name are these guys?", he couldn't make out the voice but he was pretty sure it was probably one of the snipers. Though he did have a good question, who were these guys? Not even Crusaders who were planning an ambush suddenly yelled out like that.

"Prepare to ambush whoevers firing," said Thomas. An order like that could backfire. Like thing he needed was to get into a fire fight with a band of Crusaders, all because some over zealous teenager from Pax Topaz just had to yell. Though something wasn't right, the Crusaders in this area didn't come to the caves because it was his regular sector to check.

As Thomas's men moved into position, hoping the chaos of the fire fight would make it impossible for either side to see them--he watched as the Kahnistani Special Forces came under a hailstorm of fire.

"Shit!" said Captain Lipshitz. He had fallen back into the cave, as one of the SCS soldiers placed pressure on his leg to stop the bleeding. He had taken four slugs to the legs and one to the arm, and five in the chest, luckily the body armor under his uniform saved his life.

One of the language specialists wasn't so lucky. Her head was burst like a watermelon dropped from a ten-story height, her once pretty face now shattered. Goldstein pulled the girl's BDU jacket up over what was left of her head and dragged her back into the cave. Two other SCS soldiers were badly wounded, bleeding profusely but still firing and trying to crawl back to the caves. An enemy could throw a grenade into the cave, but the soldiers' body armor was capable of protecting them from the shrapnel, especially if the grenade could be smothered with, for example, a heavy, loaded rucksack or helmet.

The Kahanistanians had heard the battle cry, too. They figured the ones firing on them might be the terrorists they were sent to hunt, and from the sound of the weapons fire, some of them had Jagadian Hali-42 rifles (captured from Crusaders?) and others had M-16's and AK-47's. They were definitely not special forces, or if they were, they were the most incompetent special forces in the world.

Goldstein, the grenadier, pulled his fallen comrade's body into the cave as a shield, and gestured to one of the snipers to scope the area with his sniper scope. Sniper / Grenadier teams were common in Kahanistan, a holdover from the conflicts with the Kraven Corporation, which used heavy infantry and armored vehicles extensively. While one soldier sniped at soft targets like enemy fuel barrels, radios, commanders, etc., the grenadier engaged targets that a sniper rifle couldn't destroy, such as heavily armored tanks, or suppressing infantry. The sniper scanned for terrorists through the scope of his sniper rifle...

They smelled blood--not literally of coarse, but they knew the Kahanistanis were down. Even as Thomas was sending his men to flank whoever was attacking, they suddenly charged out of their positions. The first guy who came out of the woods fell to the ground as his leg was nearly ripped off by sniper fire. A group of troops with heavy weapons were also coming out of the woods when a gernade sent them all to Judgement. Thomas was shocked as they just kept coming. Around twenty-five more of them came out of the woods in a made dash charge at the cave, all the way throwing gernades into the cave to blind or kill the men inside by simply laying the shrapnel on thick.

Thomas knew the Kahanistanis, despite their weapons, training, morale, and skill couldn't kill twenty-five men armed with AK-47s, M-16s, and a handful of Hali-42s. Thomas grabbed his radio, "All gunners, engage! I repeat, all gunners engage," said Thomas. Suddenly just as the SAG members were right in front of them, Thomas and his troops came up from the brush and seemingly out of nowhere and laid down a grazing amount of fire. Immiedately four or five SAG members fell to the ground, two more were instantly killed by sniper fire. While a group of three were blown apart by a gernade that came from inside the cave--Kahanistani Grenadiers.

Thomas plan now was to push to the SAG members towards the cave, but keep their attention on his men. He hoped the Kahanistanis had the capability to fight, and thus would mean SAG was caught inbetween a hailstorm of heavy gunfire.

The SCS could fight, and fight well. M-203 and TAR-21 fire sprayed out of the cave. The machine gunner was down, but one of the other soldiers took the M-2 from him and poured a murderous hail of machine gun fire into the approaching soldiers. The radio operator threw caution to the winds. "Epsilon Squad has found rats." The soldiers continued to pound the SAG fighters with machine gun and grenade launcher fire, drawing back deeper into the cave.

Thomas and the rest of the small arms fighters began to move forward slowly, while firing. The heavy machinegunners, snipers, and grenediers continued to lay down withering fire. Within the span of another minute, the SAG forces lay dead upon a now gunsmoke filled battlefield. Thomas' goal now was to get the Kahanistani Special Forces to come out, and them not trying to shoot.

Thomas walked slowly towards the cave, but put down his weapon, he didn't get close enough were he could be shot. "Hey! I know your down there. I am Seargant Thomas of the Teutonic Special Forces! If you and your men come out now, with your weapons thrown down, then I give you my solid word that you and your men will not be harmed in anyway. I know you have injured, we can treat them more properly at our military hospitals, and I'm sure me and my men have more medical equipment then you," shouted Thomas.

In a gesture, he backed off from the cave with his back facing the enemy, which went against a dozen military codes. He then raised his arms in the air and go down on his knees. All in plain sight of the Kahanistani Special Forces--he was willing to go to great lengths to get them to come out. By now he realized the situtation with SAG was a set up.

The sniper sighted Thomas in the cross-hairs of his M-24, but a lieutenant ordered him not to shoot. If this guy was facing the SCS with his back turned, he obviously wanted to talk and simply didn't have a white flag available. Kahanistanian troops didn't carry them, either.

Still suspecting a trap, the soldiers came out slowly, using the mirror they had used earlier. They held their weapons ready to shoot at the first sign of treachery. Two came out unarmed. A man's voice came from the back of the cave.

"I am Captain Ehud Lipshitz of the Kahanistan Special Combat Service. Your proposal is acceptable," said the squad commander. "We have two dead and three wounded." The captain himself had several bullets in his legs, and nearly all of the soldiers had been hit somewhere, but been protected by their body armor.

Lipshitz knew the soldiers would likely be taken prisoner, but knew that they had little information to give the Jagadians. His first responsibility was to keep them alive. The soldiers did have cyanide capsules, which they had ready if the Jagadians decided to take prisoners.

Thomas stayed in his position, his troops had their weapons aimed at the ground--another gesture of peaceful negioations. "Very well, I am glad we can come to an agreement. Now I need to take you and your men to a hospital, there they can treat you're wounded and prepare your dead for transportion home. I also know this was a set-up by SAG, once we get you to the hospital, you can contact your government about it. I'm sure thousands now lay dead because of this trickery on SAG's part," stated Thomas.

[OOC: Feel free to skip the whole part about your men coming out. You can start with them contact home and we setting up for some joint raids or something.]

Three days later

Captain Lipshitz was still in a Jagadian hospital, having bullets and shrapnel extracted. He was conscious for most of the time he wasn't actually in surgery, and made a phone call to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After about thirty minutes, he was finally placed in contact with the Minister herself.

"So, let me get this straight," said Delray. "You bumped into some soldiers, and some SAFG, or SAG, or whatever, came out and attacked both you and the Jagadian troops?"

"Yes, Minister," said Captain Lipshitz. "The whole war was a setup. They're a secular group fighting against the Christian government of Jagada. They knew the Jagadians wouldn't let unsaved communist heathens into their country, and hoped we could defeat Jagada for them."

Delray sighed. So, they were pulling a FWS on us...

Fascist White States (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=332794) was a rogue nation which had allied with Automagfreek, abusing Freekish military might to spread their evil, racist beliefs. When Damien Dreadfire, the ruler of AMF, realized he had been tricked, he had pulled a trick of his own that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Fascians. Years later, the Kraven Corporation, a long-time enemy of Kahanistan, had made the same mistake, and had been eventually liberated from its evil oppressors, but not before 200 to 300 million Kahanistanians had died horribly in a massive Freekish invasion.

Kahanistan did not like being used any more than AMF did. While most Kahanistanian officers and soldiers lacked the Freeks' brutality, they were going to take a giant shit on the SAG.

Minister Delray replied to the captain. "I'll have a statement issued by nightfall," she said. "How's your unit?"

The captain had not expected her to care. "Two KIA's, three WIA's, I'm in a hospital," he said. "We're not prisoners, if that's what you're thinking." She wasn't thinking that, he did not seem like he was under stress like that which might be found in someone being forced to tell her something different.

"Thank you for your information," said Delray. "Take care." She hung up and turned to her secretary, who drafted a letter. Delray sent it later that day, as she had promised.

DEMOCRATIC SOVIET REPUBLIC OF KAHANISTAN
Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Government of Kahanistan has realized that we have been tricked by the SAG. While we share its vision of a secular state, we do not take kindly to being used as sledgehammers to batter governments that threaten their interests.

Therefore, the DSRK offers its assistance to the Jagadian government in hunting down and capturing the terrorist leaders of SAG to be tried as war criminals and mass murderers.

Murder of our people is not the way to ask for our help. In fact, it is one of the quickest ways to make a lasting enemy of the Soviet Republic.

We ask the Jagadian government to allow the infiltration of additional Special Forces teams for the destruction of SAG.

Signed,
Margaret Delray,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

Offical Imperial StatementSecret Transmission...

Under normal circumstances, I'd decline to even think about that notion. Though, I must admit, we have both been tricked by SAG. Very well, I will permit your special forces into the country--despite the fact that they're already here. We've located about seven of them, but hesitated to engage. Luckily we've both come to our senses and we can now work to crush SAG.

Signed,
Lord Protector York

Air Force bases near Al-Qamar, eastern Kahanistan

The Air Force bases launched C-5 Galaxies filled with special forces and Imperial Marines. A force of 1,000 Marines and 200 SCS personnel in fifteen different planes took off for Jagada. They were escorted by five MiG-35's, and would arrive in Jagada in under eight hours.

The Kahanistanians were less secretive about their deployments now, as they no longer had to worry about evading Jagadian soldiers. They requested any information the Jagadians might have on the locations of SAG's terrorist bases. The Kahanistanians had engaged SAG once, but they did not know the location of the SAG base.

The transports also carried medical supplies, ammunition, food, tents and other essentials for constructing a short-term military encampment in Jagada big enough to support 1,300 troops. The Ministry of Defense expected that the troops would be coming home after only a few weeks. They had carried enough supplies to keep the soldiers fed and geared for two months.

Nighttime

Southern Jagada

20 planes approached, looking for wide open fields they could land in and set up camp. They were going to be hunting SAG forces for at least the near future, and wanted a safe, secluded place to encamp. A place near a lake or river would be nice, water supplies would then be no object as each soldier was issued a reverse osmosis water purification unit, or ROWPU, for obtaining water. Also, soldiers off duty could use the lake to cool off in. Soldiers couldn't be too picky about where they would encamp, however...

Once the Kahanistani Special Forces landed, they were greeted by Major General Warwick, the same man who'd recently routed their divison. Considering that Jagadian news had praised his command skills and made him a national hero as a result, then that means Kahanistani troops probably knew who he was. Though he didn't want to be helping the same people he just killed, he was appointed by York. Warwick met up with the Kahanistani troops, and searched out for their commander. Once finding him, he brought him back to the Operations Command. There out across the table was a map of Jagada, with various major cities, large towns, highways, terrain, and other such things.

On the map though, there were various red spots--though these red spots were ontop of cities. Those cities included: Pax Topaz, Genisis, Crishbal, Inn, and Edo. Warwick pointed out each of the cities with his index finger before turning back to the Kahanistani commander.

"Those cities are were we know SAG is located," stated Warwick, "Luckily thanks to their recent 'conversion' to Christianity they've actually had some Christians apply for membership, of coarse all were declined, or so we believe. But those same people who attempted to apply told us the location of SAG recruiters. We picked them up and after extensive interrogation we've managed to find out various headquarters for their operatons."

Warwick then pointed at Pax Topaz, "A large city, but right in the middle of a massive agriculture, rural area. Very nice place really. Though we know their overall headquarters is here. If you want, we could have a joint operation, but I would advise against it. We all know rural populations in most countries are more nationalistic than urban populations. So my point is, your Communist soldiers, which I suppose encompass all of them, will probably be met with such harsh insults, it may interfere with your operation ability."

Warwick then slid his finger down the map to Genisis, "You were recently stopped from getting here, by my divison," said Warwick with pride in his voice,"This is were we know their largest weapons cashe is. I suggest you raid here, instead of Pax Topaz. Genisis, unfortunately, has a handful of Communist, and a lot of socialists, and you're men could actually work well in the field here, and better get along with the population."

Warwick then took his finger off the map, "The rest of the areas we can also jointly hit. So any complaints, suggestions, rejections?"

It was a common misconception that all Kahanistanians were Communists. In fact, roughly one third to one half of the population was communist or socialist, and the Communist party had just taken power from the Socialists in the recent election, and one of the major candidates had been a right-wing, Fascist-backed candidate of questionable mental stability whose campaign promises had included the destruction of AMF and expansion into Freekish land.

However, Kahanistan was socialist, as it had limited free markets in areas not deemed essential by the state, such areas, such as food, water, power, shelter, education and medical care being provided by the state and citizens being free to buy things they wanted such as cars, jewelry, etc., and corporations free to operate in Kahanistan as long as they paid high taxes and obeyed the numerous environmental and ethical regulations set out by the Supreme Soviet. A Communist state would have taken over complete control of the economy, and likely degenerated into an authoritarian regime, of the sort that gave the left a bad name.

Brigadier General Wu-han Hsieng, the commander of the operations, did not see any reason to correct the Jagadian's belief, although he himself was not a Communist. It didn't matter anyway, if one thought all Kahanistanians were Communists, then one would relate to all Kahanistanians as Communists, and as far as the Jagadian populace was concerned, they would be Communists.

"I recommend we hit Genisis alone, and I would suggest at least a token Kahanistanian presence in Pax Topaz, it might drive home to the people that just because we come from a socialist country, that doesn't mean that everyone from Kahanistan is the same... that we're not all Communists, that we don't hate the Jagadians."

General Wu-han cleared his throat, then continued. In fact, most of us aren't Communists. "As for the other areas, we can conduct joint operations."

Wu-han did not like the idea of working with the Jagadians any more than Warwick seemed to like working with the Kahanistanians, he felt that the Jagadians were trying to enforce their religion on the people, which had driven the SAG to their desperate act. But he would fight against the SAG, not necessarily because he was ordered to, but because he wanted to punish them for murdering Kahanistanian civilians, and using Kahanistan to achieve their ends.
