Rogue energy fleet holding Super-power in an energy crisis (Attn: TPE)

"Bring up a visual," ordered Juipter Fleet's admiral Norris Packard. The radar operators aboard the flagship Jupritis had decteded an energy spike while "mining" Helium-3 in orbit around Jupiter.

The crew could not believe what they were viewing on the monitor. Originating as an energy spike on the radar, the Jupritis decided to investigate as a potential Helium mining spot.

"This is definitely not a Helium-3 deposit....it appears to be some sort of technological relic," the petty officer reported. "Admiral, do we have permission to bring this thing in for investigation?"

"Sure, although I don't believe this is any of Super-power's tech," replied the Admiral.

Within an hour, the object was secured in the hangar for analysis. A few hours later, the analysists gave their report to Admiral Packard.

"It appears to be a chronoscepter. Sir, this is a source of energy beyond any reckoning, more powerful than all the Minovsky reactors you could ever build! I thought these things were only true in legend."

"You don't say...I'm sure the Super-powerian government would pay a nice sum of money for this tech." Admiral Packard thought about it for a moment, then sent an message to the other four ships in the Energy Fleet. "The Jupiter Fleet is now no longer under the jurisidiction of Super-power. We are now an autonomous Fleet and are going to ransom the country back its energy."

Having learned of the Jupiter Fleet's demands, the Senate rushed into an unprecedented closed session with the President and his cabinet.

"Sir, do you know what this means for the Minovsky reactors back here on earth? We may have an abundance of Helium-3 for the moment, but we're going to be in it deep if we don't get that back!" exclaimed the Senate majority leader. "And what's with this 'chronoscepter' they're trying to ransom to us?"

"Apparently some source of 'unlimited' energy. In any case, we're not going to cooperate with these traitors. But that chronoscepter is troubling...since its the technology of The Plutonian Empire. We should get in contact with them and decide what to do. In the meantime, Chief of Staff LaFlaga will dispatch the Albion and the Alpha division of our Orbital Fleet to begin interception the Jupritis and its accompanying ships."

Eugene was sound asleep in his suite when his Imperial security advisor woke him up. After getting his hearing aids on, Eugene asked, "What's up?"

"Mr. President, we've been intercepting transmissions from a foreign fleet from a nation called "Super-power." The security advisor hands Eugene a sheet of paper.

After a few moments, the President jumped out of his bed in excitement, yelling in joy. At last, after centuries of manually replicating a technology seen in a video game, an original piece of that technology actually exists in real life as well.

"Calm down, sir. You still need to read the rest of it."

"Hmm.... Super-power's energy fleet is holding it's own nation hostage over a single chronoscepter piece?"

"Mr. President, there's more. From what we can tell, the ancient chronoscepters appear to be much more powerful than ours, especially since the chronoscepter technology WE have was replicated out of a nintendo game. From scratch."

"You're right"

"And quite frankly, Mr. President, we don't know wether Super-power itself is friendly or not--"

"We've been here on Pluto for quite a while, and we haven't been attacked yet, so it's pretty obvious that they appear to be friendly. But you're right. We don't know for sure, so we'll just have to wait and see..."

In a coded message to President Eugene of TPE, General Shade relayed a request and instruction about a potential rendezvous:

(OOC: Just highlight the text below for the message)
We need to establish a rendezvous point for our fleets, if you choose to dispach any of your military to aid us. Additionally, when we engage the fleet we cannot fire directly at the ships; that Helium they're carrying is too important to risk its destruction. Additionally we need to know about the potential danger this chronoscepter could be if the Jupiter Fleet learns how to operate it.

(OOC: What date does this take place? I can use celestia to provide good maps of the solar system for military maneuvers. :) )

IC: Eugene responds:

RE: RENDEZVOUS:
We suggest Saturn. The rings may provide good cover. It depends on your ships' maximum speed though. If slow, we may choose Mars instead.

RE: CHRONOSCEPTER:
If the real thing is anything like this video game I replicated our current technology from, there are a total of 8 pieces scattered about. most likely, they have only one of them. Also the chronoscepter technology we have developed is our primary source of fuel, power, propulsion, and weaponry. Decades ago, we tried to use this technology to try to create a new star, but mishandling of a "chrono-bomb" we made resulted in the supernova of a star. Our current analysis of the technology your energy fleet discovered indicates that it may be vastly more powerful than ours. If they find the 7 remaining pieces, a single shot of the completed chronoscepter gun may be enough to turn significant portions of Earth into vast magma fields, or perhaps vaporize it. I advise a sweeping search of the Solar sytem to seek out the remaing pieces before the Jupiter fleet finds them.

(OOC: I use the Universal Century calendar, set after the use of AD - I'd say around UC 0094)

"Admiral, they want us to rendezvous in orbit around Saturn."
"Saturn it is then. We'll use the gravity of the Sun to sling us towards the planet at a faster speed. Engage the Minovsky Drive! Prepace for travel at 0.8c!"
"Engaging - Didn't we test the Minovsky Drive in our Victory 2 prototype, the same V2 in our special forces unit that's stationed aboard this ship?"
"None other. And we learned that there's a nice little effect that the Drive produces, an effect you might get to see if the V2 sees combat in this operation"

The ships' drivers activated, spreading a mass of Minovsky Particles in their wake as they traveled towards Saturn.

IC: "Mr. President, they've agreed to rendezvous around saturn."

"Terrific. Dismissed."

Eugene then called the Imperial General, Charlie, and advised him of the recent developments, and to select him to make the official First Contact with Super-power. It was General Charlie's first mission since the Civil War in Nueve Italia many centuries ago. Charlie has been Eugene's best friend since before the rise of the Empire.

Within a few hours, a fleet of 8 military PlutoCons departed for Saturn.

"We've reached our destination, slow down to cruising speed!"
Task Force Alpha slowed down from 0.8c for its rendezvous. The fleet division continued to orbit around Saturn's rings until they picked up TPE's ships on their sensors.

"We have them on radar! Bringing up a visual...we're getting a communications signal!"
"Put it up. General Charlie, it's a pleasure to have made contact with you and TPE, despite the unfortunate circumstances. Now, let's get to finding some chronoscepters"

"Pleased to meet you too, Admiral--"

*CLANG!*

"What was that," General Charlie asked the pilot.

"Probably a piece of saturn's ring?"

"No, not that. It sounded like metal striking metal, and Saturn's rings are ice..."

"Sir, I think it--"

"Scan it. Now."

"Aye, sir."

The pilot scanned the debris that had just hit the PlutoCon. After a brief moment, the pilot confirmed Charlie's suspicions. It was another chronoscepter piece that bounced off the space plane's hull.

Quickly, the Plutonian fleet retrieved the chronoscepter piece, and sent word.

"This is just our luck to have a chronoscepter piece appear right here! Let's see if it gives off any unique energy signature."

At last, TPE's scientists were able to lock on to the unique reading that the chronoscepter gave on the radar.

"So there are six remaing chronoscepter pieces - and it appears that there's yet another piece in orbit around Jupiter! We must intercept it before the Jupiter fleet does, ASAP."

"We need to create a diversion to lure away the Jupiter Fleet," said Task Force Alpha commander Morgan Chevalier. "General Charlie, I doubt that the Jupiter Fleet knows of TPE's existance; with that in mind, they probably won't take notice of you if you get close enough to retrieve the chronoscepter fragment. Just try to act discreetly when you enter the fragment's vicinity.
Oh, and before I forget, I need to know if the individual chronoscepter pieces can be used as weapons. It would be a rotten surprise for us if they fired upon our fleets using it."

Charlie responded, "Fortunately, the chronoscepter pieces are pieces of a type of gun or hand-held projectile launcher, so the whole thing needs to be assembled in order to be fired, just like any other such weaponry. As for approacing Jupiter, we will use the planet's magnetic field to mask our approach, as well as using the planet's shadow to hide us."

The pilot of Charlie's plutocon then whispered something in his ear. Charlie went to the back of the plane and grabbed his own chronoscepter (the kind the PE made from scratch).

"This is what a completed chronoscepter looks like."

Charlie proceeded to disassemble his chronoscepter and held up a random piece upon finishing.

"A 'fake' piece will be our diversion. Hopefully, our chronoscepter technology is incompatible with the tech that's out there."

"Alright, proceed," ordered the Admiral. "Task Force Alpha will begin to scout Neptune for the next possible piece of the chronoscepter. It probably won't be there but I want to make sure of it."

The ships of Task Force Alpha initiated their Minovsky Drives, heading directly towards Saturn due to the lack of a gravitational slingshot to propel them any faster.

The Plutonian fleet left saturn and arrived at jupiter a few minutes later, approaching slowly while keeping the planet directly between them and the sun and using Jupiter's magnetic field to help keep them cloaked.

Soon, the Plutonian Fleet detected the chronoscepter piece orbiting jupiter, and ejected their diversion piece to hopefully distract the rogue energy fleet.

They crossed their fingers as they waited...

(OOC: Sorry for a loooong time for a reply. Damn school n stuff)

Task Force Alpha arrived at Neptune hoping to scout for another chronoscepter piece. Unfortunately, they were met with an unpleasant surprise: an ambush by one of the ships of the Jupiter Fleet. From behind the scattered debris, squadrons of mobile suits appeared to ambush the Task Force and its cruisers, while the Fleet transport ship lobbed suppressive fire.

"Damnit - this would be a lot easier if we didn't have to worry about damaging the hydrogen transport! We'll have to engage in suit-to-suit combat"
"In addition to our Z Pluses, would you like us to deploy that V2 prototype?" asked Lt. Ryu Roots.
"Forget it - this situation doesn't call for that level of firepower. Though do send out a Z Plus equipped with the Hummingbird pack to scare that transport into surrendering. Oh, and inform TPE that we can handle this on our own, we don't want them breaking off the search for the chronoscepter pieces."
"Got it"

After what seemed like an eternity watching the rogue fleet on their moniters, they finally saw some movement. They appeared to have fallen for the PE's ploy.

Quickly, the Plutonian fleet moved to pick up the real chronoscepter fleet. As soon as they had the piece aboard General Charlie's plutocon, they departed, heading for Mars.
