MelekTaus

The Most Satanic Emperor of MelekTaus's Imperial Court today announced his intent to allow females to join the Imperial Marines, and the Imperial Marines Commandos (Special Marine Forces unit).
Previously, females had been barred from Imperial Marine and Imperial Marine Commando duties, due to the nature of the service. The Imperial Marines are the MelekTaus Maritime Military equivillent of the Army, servicing all Tanks, Artillary and Infantry Roles within the Maritime Forces. Now, Females can join the Marine branch, and fulfill any combat or supportrole they so desire, and the Imperial Marine Commandos branch of the Imperial Marines are also allowing females to join. To join the Marines, females must pass exactly the same routine, in a multi-sex unit, as the males do. Imperial Marines Commandos also have the same policy, only accepting Marines who have 4 years of experiance in any of the branches, combat and support, onto their gruelling selection/training course. Females have no 'easier' level to compete against, nor a harder one.
This law was passed after a pilot project, involving 30 females, attempted to pass Marine training, while 100 female veterans of the Home Fleet (which takes its staff from those with atleast 3 years experiance in the other 4 Combat Fleets) who had regularly cross trained with Marines for Field Craft in the event they had to go to dry land after a ship sinks, or for counter boarding tactics, attempted to pass the Imperial Marines Commando selection.
12 of the females that attempted Marine selection passed through basic training, and are currently in Phase 2 training for their selected roles, a rate which matches those for the males. Only 5 out of the 100 applicants for the Imperial Marines Commando successfully passed selection, and have begun basic training with their chosen 'arm' in the special forces Division, a rate which is also equal with that of males.
It is believed female equalists will be very pleased with this change of law, but ask if females still have to train in Submarine based deployment for the Imperial Marines Commandos, considering Subamrine service is barred from females due to the possible medical risks to female wombs and overies because of submarine nuclear powered engines. The IMC refused to comment on this question.
