Please note that this thread is CLOSED to any who are not taking part in the Great War (WW2) RP. If you want to sign up, please go here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=469159).

Also note that without a Chinese player, I'll probably end up doing most of the combat for both sides. If a chinese player comes back, they can take over. Don't worry, I won't be unreasonable and take over all of China. It's a war, not a massacre.

Also, I couldn't find any real information on the actual names of most Japanese commanders/divisions/units, so I've been forced to wing it. AKA: I made it up. :P

General Kagashima, the newly appointed Commander of the Manchukuo Area, looked over his report, analyzing the IJA's status. With the departure of the Elite 17th Infantry Division to Mexico, he had lost one of his best assets. They were down to 9 Divisions in Manchukuo, of which 4 were deployed on the Soviet border. 3 were deployed on the Chinese border, and 2 more served as backup troops near Korea and the Central states. Without backup soon, he wouldn't be able to fight a full-scale war against Mongolia, let alone China.

He glanced at the conscription reports. During the last week, 47,000 men entered training in Japan, 18,000 in Korea and 56,000 in Manchukuo. A large number to say the least, but it would take weeks to turn them into proper divisions of real soldiers. Armoured support was poor, tanks did not operate well in the jungles and rainforests of the region, nor did they fare well in the mountainous regions of China.

The end result: if it went to war, he'd be lucky to hold the line against a real chinese advance, let alone launch a true invasion. The only true advantage he had over the chinese was the Army Air Service, which severely outnumbered the Chinese Air Force. Given some time to train his forces up to an acceptable level, he might be able to start launching an invasion. Continual border skirmishes between Chinese Nationalists and the 1st, 12th and 25th Divisions had turned his troops into an elite fighting force, now he just needed a little time to pull in the reinforcements he needed.

The first step was to pull troops out of reserve. A quick request was made to the IJA Commander-in-Chief, begging him to pull the reserve troops out of the mothballs of home duty. If he complied, Kagashima could easily see as many as twenty or thirty new divisions on his front, giving him an opportunity to start taking ground from the Chinese.

At least resistance had died down amongst the Manchurian people, mostly thanks to the passionate speeches given by Prime Minister Mitsumama and the Great Manchu Emperor, Zhang Jinghui. Revolutionaries and Insurrectionists still haunted the area, but at least his troops could walk down the street without continually watching their backs.

"General!" his aide cried. "News from the front, you need to hear this sir!"

Kagashima swore and stood up, exiting the tent. "What is it now?"

(OOC: Yeah, it is. I probably should have looked up an actual name, but I'll admit it. I was lazy. T-T

EDIT: Sorry, the name of the city is Kagoshima.)
