Because of the fact that battles are cluttering up what is supposed to be a colonization thread I am making this.

Main thread: Large cluster of M-class planets found (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=467217)

The Imperial vessels slowly slid through the darkness of space. The crest of Balrogga shone brightly upon their hulls as starlight illuminated the ships. They were patrolling the Territories, making sure everything was peaceful.

They were representatives of The Founder, the nation that first mapped and then offered the territories for colonization in the cluster. As landlord, of a sort, it fell upon him to make sure the Territories were safe. To assist them in their duty, the nation of Waterhelper accepted the offers of both Tannelorn and Balrogga when they volunteered to police the Territories in his name. They were the only thing keeping the residents of the Territories from being victimized.

OOC:

Please read before posting.

To be part of this war, you have to be a resident of The Cluster, I.E. be accepted by the Landlord (Waterhelper) as a resident of one of the territories he discovered. The war is CLOSED to all others, even if you have allies here and they called you for help.

All Out Of Character remarks will be placed within the OOC Thread I will make right after posting. Please do not place any OOC remarks in your posts as it distracts from the story and is rather rude.

Don’t wank. It doesn’t matter what kind but please refrain from all sorts of wanking. It ruins a story damn fast.

EDIT: Here is the OOC Thread

Valor and Zealous Crusader approached the Tigerlan main systems cautiously, still broadcasting the message to cease and desist. As they neared what appeared to be one of many space battles breaking out across the system, they decided on a new approach. The massive energy levels inside the Tannelornian cruisers spiked, then went off the scale as the Massive loengren and ingelstung cascade cannons fired across the bow of the Vengeance class SSD. Who ever was in charge..had to notice that.

Next waves of morgenreates II's started to move in escorting several Horizont shuttles launched from the Valor. The Morgenreates started to engage their counterparts in a dizzying dance of death. The humanoid fighters moved with a grace and speed unmatched in space. Zipping about to and fro against the combatants around the vessel, as they cleared a path for the Horizonts and their precious cargo..

The Rebels didnt have as manny ships as the loyalists did, they were spread among the crews of the Loyalists, couseing firefights within the ships. The story of the Panzerfoust was retold over and over agian, at 1st the Loyalists would apear to be loosing, then reinforcements would arive, turning the tide of the battle. The Rebel Ships remaning are 5 Vangence class SSD and 1 Eclips SSD, thier fighting was becoming frantic, the Loyalists had 20 CCS battle cruisers,3 World Devistators the size of small moons (Ive actouly been feeding them Unwanted moons) and a Covenent Capital Ship,, Victory was not possible for the Rebel scum, they will be destroyed.

Meanwile onbourd the Tiger Claw, Lenov wasnt doing well, he was suffering from high Fever and loss of blood, mumbleing something about a women Nammed Lerrinix, the Doctors had no idea who this person was. They had done all they could to help Lenov.

"Lerinixx! Lerinixx Where are you!"

A messege was sent to Lerinixx

I am sorry to report this to you, Lenov is dead

but that messege was premature

Neo Roma, Botany

After reading the message, Lorinxx looked at the Ensign that had handed her the PADD.

She asked, "Do we have any of those old Goa'uld Sarcophagi?"

"Yes, ma'am. Why it was shipped through the Gate, I don't know."

"Well, we can still make use of it. So few of them left these days."

"Agreed. Shall I send a response?"

"Yes. Give me a half-hour and I'll have one written up for you."

"Aye, ma'am."

The Ensign departed and came back thirty minutes later to pick up the PADD with the reply message.

Messages

Coded response on the same channel, same frequency, and directed towards the direction of origin for the original message in response to the Tigerlan message:

Botany currently has access to an old Goa'uld Sarcophagus. If you hurry, we may be able to revive him. Please, make haste.

Oh, and its spelled Lorinxx, not Lerinxx.

Signed,
Ambassador Lorinxx

"What the hell was that???!!!"
"Sir were under attack!"
"Whos attacking us!?????? more loyalists???!!!!
"No sir, it the Tannelornians!"
"Return Fire"

And with that the Eclipses SL was bringing the Tannelornian Flagship into its sights

the order was given, "Open Fire!"

the collective of the other SSDs turbolasers was an amazing amount of firepower, but they were unorginised, fireing at difrent targets rather then focusing thier fire, thier plan was to retreat to the Pananian system as soon as the SL had fired, hopefully dellaying the Tannelornian counter attack.

Someone has used a superlaser.

I see that. We will intervene. Set a course to the system.

Yes lord. We will arrive within the quarter cycle.

The Zeji Armada had taken up residence in an empty system, not really interfering in the afairs of the other residents, but this was too much. This foolishness must end.

The Zealous Crusader placed the PBS system to forward facing when the SSD started to fire upon them. The vast majourity of the shots glanced off the frame of the Sword cruiser..being far too distant to make a real effect with all PBS facing forward. A few laser blasts glanced off the hull..not enough to make a real effect. Achieving more in the way of scorched paint then real battle damage. Of course the Tannelornian vessels were still well over a million kilometers away.

However that did not stop the Zealous Crusader..she shifted over rolling to bring her broadside firepower to bear..She fired both of her heavy Xaser turrets at the SSD. She was aiming for her engines..at extreme range. Still the extremely powerful Cascade weaponry could cause fearsome damage.

Valor fell back and started to launch more of her squadrons. Over 150 morgenreate's in all zoomed out of their launch bays, heading towards the swirling melee around the SSD.

The 100 or so morgenreate II's and III's already engaging the SSD's fighter escort started to actually engage the enemy fighters with prejudice. Whirling and dancing in just out of reach of the enemies return fire. The Morgenreate high maneuver frames moved with dizzying speed and agility, their humanoid forms perfect for space combat.

As the melee started in earnest several of the frames started to move along the hull, dodging and veering past enemy AA fire with practiced ease. Here and there a few of them fell but the majourity found their targets. They started to open fire on the shield generators surrounding the hangar bay..to allow the horizonts and their "diplomatic envoy" inside.

Three Imperial ships faded into view as they Emerged form T-Space. The destroyers approached the borders of Tigerlan and stopped at the edge. Two Vengeance Destroyers flanked an Interceptor Destroyer. The hull of The Hasted Doom composed of thur’tahg, the light absorbing metal that was only found on planets of The Empire, was a sharp contrast to the white and almost glowing hulls of the two other destroyers, The Pain and The Misery.

Aboard The Hasted Doom, Commander Sl’Ter watched the distant battle accessing the sensors of the craft. After a few minutes of running an analyst he commanded a Comm channel to be opened.

Attention all craft in the area.

The troubles of Tigerlan are an internal conflict only. Any interference violates your lease and will result in a police action. You will cease all actions and leave the Tigerlan Territory.

Failure to heed my warning could result in your vessels being confiscated, destroyed, legal actions taken against your governments, or even Eviction out of the Cluster. This is just a small list of possible actions that can be carried out against you for violation of the Terms of your Lease.

I repeat, all vessels that are not of Tigerlan registration will leave the Territory immediately.

This is your only warning

He then dispatched a short message to the Founder.

The Hasted Doom along with escort has arrived in Tigerlan Territory. Will attempt to quell interference from outside forces.

He then examined the Tannelorn conflict and a message was relayed to the Tannelorn ships.

Greetings, this is Commander Sl’Ter aboard The Hasted Doom. I have brought two other ships with me to assist in clearing this mess up before it erupts into a small war or something worse. What Way can we assist in the most?

“Negative Sir, they do seem to have sustained damages.”

The captain thought for a few seconds.

“Have the other two ships meet us in the Neutral Zone between the two territories. Take us directly in their path. I want them to have to go around us so they know we are here.”

“Yes Sir”

The Hasted Doom faded from view as it Uplifted and it shot off in the direction of the fleeing vessels. When it arrived at the predetermined destination, it Emerged, returning to Real Space. The ship pivoted and faced the incoming fleet and just watched it approach.

The aggressors have taken refuge with another nation. Shall we speak with them?

Yes. There are 2 possibilities. We will be forced to destroy them, a regrettable necessity. Or we will ally with them, also regrettable. I hope for my sake that destruction is our final mandate, allies are such inconvenient things.

Yes Lord Kabala.

The Zeji Armada left a portion of its strength behind, but the main part of the Cruisers and Carriers, backed by the Black Dream itself, and a trio of Krakens, all went to have words with the nation that had decided to harbor the Kinslayers.

The Zeji fleet was detected by the Pananabian sensors as headed right for their borders. Stowes knew that the Zeji was definitely a force to be reckoned with and had no wish to fight them. He also knew that their leader was a poweful psychic and if he tried to bluff his way in any negotiations, his deeper intentions would be found, which wouldn't be a good thing. So he thought of a brilliant idea.
Use a more powerful psychic.

Kao'Tu was sipping tea and listening to his native music. Stowes didn't like it. All of the objects in his room were floating slightly, mainly because Kao'Tu didn't want to bother concentrating keeping them down.
I'm beginning to regret coming on board, Stowes. The minds of your crew are...How should I say this...Rogue.
"You know I have no idea how to reply mentally, so just talk," Stowes replied.
"Tea?"
Stowes walked to the Replicator.
"Whisky."
A small glass formed and Stowes took it and sat next to Kao'Tu. Kao'Tu didn't like Stowes. He was greedy and ruthless, but he respected him. Few ordinary men could keep something like the Pananab fleet together like he has.
"So the Zeji fleet is moving in and you want me to help you," Kao'Tu said to Stowes.
"In a nutshell."
Kao'Tu stared at Stowes with his multicolor eyes. The only thing ordinary about them was the Iris, and even that changed shaped constantly. It was creepy.
"Sure. I haven't anything else to do but sip tea and listen to bad music."
The music turned off. It changed to AC/DC.
"At least we have some common ground," Stowes said, smiling as he finished his drink and left Kao'Tu's room.

The Imperial ship remained silent, but menacing as the harried fleet of rebels slid cautiously past. The featureless black hull seemed to be created out of shadows itself.

There was a strange feeling that could be felt by everyone aboard the ships as they passed close to the ebony bulk of The Hasted Doom. It was as if whatever was aboard that ship could pick out the fear and panic within the minds of the refugees. Some of the crew looking at the hull could see shapes moving just beneath the ebony surface. Hints of nightmare creatures and things best never seen were envisioned by the viewers.

As the last ship passed, the Destroyer slowly pivoted. It kept its nose pointed at the last ship, matching its rotation exactly. The ship slowly faded into the inky blackness of space as the refugee fleet left the area, with a new experience they would rather forget.

OOC:

Sorry to interrupt here, but don't you think you guys could try to...you know...try to make posts more than one paragraph, or in some cases, one sentence in length? I mean, this is a war after all. Wars can provide some of the best opportunities for dramatic roleplay.

I suggest, humbly, that you all get together on IRC or something and discuss...cooperatively...how you want this war to end up. The complete domination of one race or another is usually out of the question and would result in ignores, so, I suggest you all sit down and try to think of a way to end this RP without freakin' out on one another.

I can tell the mood of this thread, because my brother in real life is Tannelorn. There is tension already, out of character, and all I'm really trying to say in this thread is to play cooperatively before this thread spins out of control.

****The rebels attempt to escape****

So far the two tannelornian cruisers had escaped unharmed. However this was only one small squadron of the enemy. 3 SSD of one class and one of another. The Prefecture vessels had no reckoning of the differences..they simply attacked the one there was less of. Of course this one was most likely the command ship as it had seemed to fire a massively powerful laser weapon. Thankfully for Zealous Crusader she had followed Tannelornian assault doctrines to the letter. Full PBS screen to fore..emergency power devoted to maneuver thrusters. The beam had been 3 seconds away. Vital experience had been earned by the crews of the TEF during the civil war. They maneuvered out of the way in the nick of time just before, only losing a single PBS shield..for the next few minutes at least.

However it was still the next few minutes. And the Tannelornian vessels had no idea how often that ship could fire. Zealous Crusader had gone far beyoned the Valor..however this was not uncommon in a squadron-pair. Valor was a carrier..and currently she was directing carrier operations and target designation for the squadron as a whole. The Morgenreates still targetted the shield generators protecting the hangar. Their high powered plasma, particle and miniature cascade' cannons hammered away at anything that looked like it might be it.

Around the vessel more Morgenreates slipped under the shields, skating up and down the hull on vents of plasma like an aggressive team of hockey players as they targetted any..thing that looked fragile enough to destroy.
So far they seemed to be doing well, taking surprisingly few casualties, due to the surprise of their arrival, and the current fighting between loyalist and seperatist. The horizonts moved up even closer, preparing to board the Tigerlan vessel and releasing their diplomatic advisors to advise the Tigerlan rebels on their next course of action. Which of course would be total and complete surrender to Tannelornian forces.

Valor suddenly charged up her Ingelstung cannon..a low power shot but still capable of punching a rather large hole straight through the Tigerlan vessel. She lined up for the shot and fired, the bluish white beam fired from the vessel, appearing as a solid line of light lasting for about 6 seconds straight towards the Vengeance class SSD.. However she was aiming to the rear..in an attempt to take out her engines. The two Prefecture ships made no attempt to follow the other two..they had their quarry in sight.

As Zealous Crusader approached the SSD the damage on her began to become more telling. As the Turbolasers fired they started to create grooves and gouges in the armour..then as the weapons became more focused, they actually started to strip the outer layers of deckplating. However they were still at over 650 000 kilometers. And unless you were from Tannelorn, and using some form of massive laser..that was not exactly optimal.

However Zealous Crusader was a Tannelornian vessel..at a cyclic rate of 20 shots a minute the two heavy Cascade turrets started to hammer away at the SSD's rear section. Massive bolts of light firing from the cannons..though dwarfed by a loengren the cannons were very powerful..more then capable of a through and through on most vessels encountered thus far by Tannelorn..and they were designed for close in work. The port Maser batteries started to fire..12 Masers in total started to fire in long 14 second bursts.

"Captain damage on levels 3/R.6/Y and 23/T, hull plating on port side is starting to take damage sir." one of the armsmen shouted from his lofty perch on the ceiling of the bridge, Captain grauss looked up. "Fire full broadside AMP-90's force, let things heat up in their..that will force their deflectors down and our magnificent armsmen can sieze the vessel without any more delays" he smiled..he was enjoying himself greatly. The enemy vessel was larger then his own..but Tannelornian vessels packed far more of a punch then their size belied. They were dreadnoughts..battleship killers all..the power output of a star and the weapons to utilise it. It was a worthy foe he faced and he wished nothing more then to reap the honour of this victory.

He was contemplating giving chase to the fleeing traitors..but for now he was content with his duel with this starship..and winning it. The ship finished firing its masers. a 14 second burst arching towards the enemy that would arrive in approximately two seconds. "Ship roll 180 degree's" he ordered quickly. The vessel Rolled sharply, angling its weapons to follow the star destroyer as quickly as they were able to turn. The armour on the starboard side was pristine and untouched. After all you had to be at your finest when sparring with goliath.

On the Bridge of the Valor, Captain Helsinki was shaking her head at the actions of Captain Graus. She wondered whether or not he thought his vessel was a high maneuver frame at times..but it didnt matter so far the rebels were fleeing. Suddenly an incoming transmission klaxon lit up. She read it quickly. "Comms respond immediately..Balroggan forces rebel vessels escaping in sector 4/562c/x full targetting analysis and situation report is being beamed to you...now, please pursue" she stated as the comms officer hit the send key. Tannelornians were very good at following orders..they were raised from birth to be good at their tasks. And today was no different

“Are these those ships?”

“No Sir, it appears those ships are fleeing refugees.”

“Dammit, we really have to address this information gap between our forces. Instruct The Pain and The Misery to Emerge and approach the ships attacing the Tannelorn forces from behind. We are to jump in front of them and strike from that direction. Just get us there now.”

“Yes Sir, transmitting instructions and initiating Jump”

Moments later The Hasted Doom appeared about 30 Kilometers from the fleet. They turned into the ships and prepared themselves.

“Establishing Space Minus Tap, power charging all combat systems, Defensive systems charged, Weapons extended, running dark, combat computers synced.”

"Very good. Keep an eye on our backside. We don't want to be blindsided by any Heros."

"Yes Sir, monitoring area."

Meanwhile, The Pain and The Misery Emerged from T-Space and began to approach the fleet of ships. They were taking optimal positions, prepairing for the battle. The Pain was taking the top right while The Misery was on the bottom left of the fleet. All firing resolutions were synced through the Space Minus Transmitter so no ship would invariantly target each other.

The three ships would soon show why the Empire volunteered to patrol the Cluster.

When the ships appeared, The Hasted Doom broadcast a simple message.

Attention rebel fleet. We have reports you have fired upon Authority Vessels performing a police action. This means you have violated your rights. You are to surrender immediately. We are not giving you any other option.

We will not turn them over to you, or anybody else. And get your nanobots away from our planets before we do it for you. This matter is none of your business. If you want this matter resolved, you will get the Tigerlan government to deal with this. The way we see it, they split and had little choice but to shoot and run to save themselves. If you want these people, you're going to have to come and get them, but I assure you, doing so will end in teh full deployment of the Pananab fleet, and Zheng is a very grumpy man, especially when he has to pull his entire fleet from what they're doing."

"Captain, the rebel ships aren't stopping. It looks like they plan on running right by us."

"Establish a comm laser on each of the ships. Aim for the command centers and cycle the beam through the spectrum. That will show them we can target them and afterwards open a comm line to the ships."

"Yes sir, comm laser targeted and cycling. Link open."

Suddenly multiple beams shot from The Hasted Doom, stabbing through thr darkness if space striking the command centers of the rebel ships. The colors of the beams cycled through the spectrum, some red, some green, some blue. The ever changing lightshow illustrating how deadly the beams could have been when one of the rebels remembered hearing about one of the Imperial Destroyers not long ago cutting a moonlet in half with the same beams.

"That is your warning shot, don't waste it. Surrender immediately or there will be nothing left of you or your ships. I repeat, this was your last warning. The next will cut you in half."

The light show went dark as it was disabled. The crew restored the settings to maximum and waited.

"On behalf of all of us, I thank you. And now to buisness. We need new ships, these ships we fly are obsolete and damaged. We are in total disrepair."
"Don't worry about that, Pananab will have your ships fixed and re-equipped within three weeks. You will find them in top fighting condition once we're done with them. This ship is the oldest in the fleet and was originally a cargo ship. Its daughter ship is under construction, but the Panrabia is the most powerful in the fleet. I've seen it escape fights with Flagships with minimal damage, so don't worry. You're in good hands. You'll have fit crews, repaired and repainted ships, and a larger fleet than before.
"Now, we need to discuss our strategies. Pananab wishes to push out Balrogga and Tannenlorn from the Cluster, and possibly Waterhelper. Before Pananab gets completely involved, why did you split from Tigerlan?"

I have searched our records. These Pananabians are not legal holders of this territory. They are transgressing on space that is not their own. As vassals to the Dominion it is our duty to remove them, since the Dominion first offered its military to defend this area. All ships of the Zeji Armada, prepare to destroy the squatters.

As the Zeji ships removed themselves from their staging point, and Warped towards the area the Pananabians had "claimed" as their own. When they arrived a single message was transmitted:

We are the Zeji. You have no claim to this space. Leave or be destroyed. You have 12 cycles to comply.

"It seems the legality of Pananab's residence is being brought into question. They seem to be the source of trouble in this area. Please advise of our position."

On the Blackstone Station, the imperial rep was walking along the hallway at a quick pace. He stopped outside a particular door and pressed the buzzer. When the door was opened. He presented his credentials to the sentry, who let him enter. He took his seat at the table.

"Sorry gentlemen for being tardy, I had to get some information for this emergency meeting."

"It appeara the residence of Pananab is being questioned. We cannot find any record of official requests for permission before they claimed their area and began settling. This would mean they are in direct violation of Founder Policy and their legal status would be reduced to squattwes at best and criminal tresspassers who are attempting to incite disorder at worse."

"While we are sitting here, The Empire is diverting part of our fleet to the location but holding them within T-Space in the case they are needed."

"The big question is, are they legally here? There is only one here that can tell us."

He looked over to the Waterhelper rep to take the floor.

All through the Cluster it would have been easily noticed. A warpstorm of this magnitude was so rare sensors had to be screaming in every system and on every ship inm the area. The Maw would be a new wonder throughout the area. A wonder, a terror, and an object of worship all at once. The glory of Chaos had been visited upon the Cluster, and things would be very interesting for quite some time...

ooc fluid time.

After the incident in the Tigerlan system, the Tannelornian authorities had recalled most of the blockade fleet assigned to the system of the Alterans.
A few ships had been left behind to monitor them, and to make sure they did not open fire on anyone else who had just arrived, but not much more.

Instead they had been told to meet at Esys3. The blue star shone brightly in the stillness of space. Framing the members of the expiditionary forces vessels as they hung over the systems single gas giant. They were preparing to move out, most likely against Pananabian insurgents. Suddenly the ships shot forward, engaging their urenbeck catapults, and activating their DoD drives..disapearing in to the Aether...

Suddenly sensors across the cluster went berserk

“Commander, it seems there is an Event occurring.”

The commander hurried over to the bank of instruments. The technician moved aside to allow him access to the sensor net.

“What the hell is a Maw doing here? Get an Infiltrator out there to investigate.”

A short time later:

The Three Hour Tour settled into Real Space a short distance away from the manifestation of Chaos. Its small crew were busy readying the Triple-S ships for launch to extend the cruiser’s sensory capabilities. Suddenly, a surge from the Eye caught the cruiser in its entropic energies. Warning lights went off everywhere. Tools began to dance about, sprouting their own legs.

“Captain, we have a drive rupture, the crew cannot gain access to the engines to make repairs. Apparently the door is arguing with the engineers.”

“What? This is no time for the AI to argue with them.

“Um, sir, the door itself is arguing with the repair crew. The AI cannot figure out how the door grew a mouth and gained speech capabilities. It also reports the Mirage Drive will cascade in three minutes without intervention.”

“Dammit, it’s the Entropy. You were not alive when we were in the Warp last. Unless we can get through that door, the ship will be destroyed. We don’t have time to fix the engines and argue with a damn door. Get everyone to the Tripple-S vessels and transfer all AI cores. We need to abandon ship.”

Around the ship, several blue lights began to flash. Crew hurried in a panic to the escape ships. Seven screwdrivers were trampled by ship personal as they exited, their tiny legs unable to let the tools get out of the way. The captain was the last to board the final ship. As the craft flew rapidly away from the doomed ship, he looked back

The Infiltrator cruiser seemed to be taking on a living appearance. He could swear it even smiled as the shuttle jumped into Hyperspace.

Minutes later:

The Mirage Drive cascaded, causing a chain reaction and the engine imploded and exploded simultaneously, tearing a rift in the dimensional fabric. The energies bled over into all the dimensions, including Time. The rupture in time caused a continuous feedback, an infinite loop. The developing nova continued, caught in a time loop of infinite explosions.

The Event reached out to the Maw and drew it into the dimensional rupture.

****Tigerlan System****
[Space holding for Tigerlans response]

****Pananab sector...Flash Point for War****

60 Points of light tore open the fabric of reality as the Tannelorn Expeditionary forces screamed in to the Pananab system, in hot pursuit of the tigerlan rebels. At this point the Pananabians were known to be a rogue element inside the cluster, and the tannelornian vessels went in with all systems ready for action.

Lord Karrak inspected his armada before issuing the orders to move in. Aether started to flood in to real space now, flowing ever faster as the tannelornian astro cartographers started to log the positions of any majour stellar body within reach. Armsmen utilised the same energies to scan for the Tigerlan vessels. This time the Tannelornian fleet did not broadcast so much as a word. They moved through the system in a loose formation, the ships scattered around a million miles apart, enough to support each other if needed, but more importantly enough to get full real time coverage of any possible angle the Rebel Tigerlan forces may use to attack. Either that, or the Pananabians. It didnt matter to the Tannelornian commander though, after all this was nothing compared to the war of secession. However the Pananabians had a decent space fleet, and to make matters more difficult..their was a good chance the entire thing was spread across this system.

It would be a worthy challenge to the Expeditionary fleet. Equipped with the best systems and technologies currently available in Tannelorn, and the best motivated, and most battle hardened troopers in the Navy. Not dozens, not hundreds..but thousands of Morgenraetes were launched. The majority were still of course, Mark II 0mega patterns, however a huge proportion [at least when compared to the home defense navies in sol] were the new mark III Morgenraetes. The new version used an mark 7 antimatter drive unit, full antigravity suspension and inertial dampeners, as well as the vaunted phased armour of the navy ships, and more of it then the Mark II omega pattern.

The humanoid fighters were a terror to behold in battle, whirling and twirling about the battlefield, like some sort of crazed ballerina, dancing a whirling frenzy of destruction and death. Currently however they were for the most part cruising ahead of the fleet, whether or not in "interceptor" form, they were doing their most crucial task for their parent ships. They ranged ahead, looking for any sort of hidden threats that may be lurking beyond...

Outside Council Chambers:

The Sentry examined the identification presented by the Pananab entourage. He sent a short message to the other guards to alert them of possible trouble using his Psionics before speaking to the man in front of him.

“Sorry sir, this is a closed security session. This means only the Founder and the Security forces are allowed. If you need to discuss anything you can return this afternoon for the open meetings.”

The other sentry was prepaired for the pompus fool to try something stupid. His orders were to arrest anyone attempting to enter the chambers during the closed session. If they resisted he had been cleared to shoot them. Just as the Tigerlan rep walked around a corner down the hall, he thought to himself, things were getting interesting.

Tigerlan space:

After The Hasted Death and her two destroyer escorts showed up, they used their targeting lasers to perform a sort of “firing over the bow”. Apparently it worked because the ships fled the site. The three destroyers remained behind just outside the Tigerlan and Pananab borders. They patrolled the area, making sure they were noticed.

The three ships kept an eye upon the strange ships that claimed to be protectors of Waterhelper. They were not sure about them but so far the fleet just remained stationary waiting for their deadline to approach.

Security Council:

“I see, you have verified their claim and they have legal residency. Our reports indicate they consider the entire Cluster to be their property and they think they can do whatever the frack they wish without repercussions.”

“I feel their offer to take in the Tigerlan fleets counts as meddling and should be acted upon as such. They need to be shown they cannot attempt to cause any instability within the Cluster, and to do so will bring down repercussions they really would not want to fall upon their shoulders.”

“I think a fitting punishment would be to remove one of their worlds from their control and put it under our own. We will use it as a staging area for the police forces and the ruling body will set up a permanent base of operations for that sector of the cluster.”

Blackstone Fortress, Cluster Police HQ:

“What the hell is going on out there?”

The fortress commander was staring at the holo-image. The captain of The Three Hour Tour was visibly shaken by the events he and his crew had just undergone.

The event was a Maw as you thought; only it was a true Maw and entropy was being emitted more forcefully than we thought. As soon as we Emerged, we were struck before we could activate the Warp Protocols to protect the ship. The Chaos caused our engines to begin cascading. We couldn’t get to engineering because apparently the door grew a mouth and was arguing with the repair crew. There were reports of other objects apparently obtaining self mobility. I ordered an evacuation and we escaped. As the shuttle jumped into Hyperspace, I looked back at the ship and the last thing I remember seeing was it smiling at me. It was a sad smile, almost loneliness…”

“Knock it off Captain. You are an officer in the Imperial Navy!”

“Yes Sir!”

“Return to HQ for further debriefing. Command out.”

After the holo-image disappeared, the commander turned to a technician.

“Run a level six diagnostic on the Holo-projector. It image of the captain seemed to e transparent in areas.”

“Yes Sir, running now.”

After a few minutes, the technician returned with a puzzled look on his face.

“Sir, I finished the diagnostic. Everything checks out normal on both ends. There is no malfunction.”

Message to Balroggian Patrol Ships:
It seems that Pananab has come under fire by what seems to be a Tannenlorn fleet. Pananab believes that no military action should be made until we have a chance to defend ourselves in the Council if they are attacking because of our accepting of the Tigerlans. We have already issued a warning to Tannenlorn, and we would like a third party to intervene.

Pananab sector
The Zheng Demi FLeet screamed into action at the sight of unannounced and univited guests. With over four thousand combat-capable ships, General-Admiral Zheng could cope with most things. But Zheng only got ot where he was by proving his worth in smaller battles, against mostly other puirates and mercenaries. Stowes was twice the commander he was, so this was the true test for Zheng.

Zheng first ordered the Tigerlans to flee from the sector to a nearby Pananab colony. Zheng didn't consider this an act of war; just a conflict. But if the enemy pursued outside of the Cluster, Pananab would make an official declaration of war and would file a complaint.

The Plasma Dischargers were being readied. They had been set up in case of an invasion in order to make the planets inhospitable for several years if an enemy force came too close or one of the Flagships were captured. The dischargers were easily disguised as power plants.

First Zheng order the Pananabian fighters to engage. They weren't any spefici design, they ranged from virtually all nations, but many of them are excess or obsolete. The Pananab's Air Force, however, was still a force to be reckoned with, containing several dozen carriers and several thousand fighters. But even so, the superior enemy fighters were causing severe casualties in teh foreward fights. But as the battle stretched and mines were being deployed in the area, they began to fare better.

Zheng was not afraid to send in his larger ships. He ordered several of his large ships, which included former Flagships and battleships. But while those bigger ships aided the fighters in taking out the spearhead fighters, Zheng ordered a large body of ships to move around the front and flank the enemy ships on both sides, surrounding the enemy on three side, allowwing them space to retreat in case they changed their mind. Zheng hailed the enemy fleet.

"This is General-Admiral Zheng AoLi of the Pananab Demi-Fleet. You have intruded on our territory with force. I am warning you to turn back now and we will forget this happened. Do not board any of our ships, do not come within four lightminutes of any of our inhabited planets or noncombat ships, installations, or stations. Coming near our planets, landing on them, or firing on them will cause massive civilian casualties that will be on your head if you do. Plasma dischargers are set up to completely burn up the atmosphere by the order governor of each planet. Chasing and/or firing on fleeing ships and/or entering non-cluster Pananab space will result in a complete declaration of war."

The rep from Balrogga listened to the Waterhelper and the Tannelorn speak in their turn. He sat at the table rubbing his temples.

“This stupid quibbling is giving me a headache. I wish everyone would just grow up and get along!”

He reached over to get a drink of water from the picture, hoping it would help.

The Hasted Doom

On the bridge, the captain watched the readouts of the ships massing along the border and the Tannelorn vessels. The display blurred a little. The captain blinked his eyes to try to clear the fuzz out of them. It worked but his eyes were feeling strained and he was starting to feel the stress.

“Sir, the reinforcements have arrived. They are waiting in T-Space for orders.”

“Good, the sooner we get this over, the better. This is beginning to wear thin on my nerves.”

“Still no orders from HQ.”

“Damn! I want to get this started one way or another.”

The captain was surprised by his own reaction. He must be more tired than he thought.

Outside the Council Chamber

The sentry was really getting annoyed by these stuffed shirts. Couldn’t they see he had a job to do? He wished they would just do something they shouldn’t so he could shoot them and get them out of his hair. His finger tips brushed the pistol at his hip. He could feel the warmth of the weapon at his side. It was comfortable there. The guard felt a stab of pain in his temples and winced. He shook his head to clear the blurriness out of his eyes.

The two reps could tell something was distracting the sentry.

Escape Shuttle Gamma:

The cramped quarters of the shuttle did little to improve the crew’s mood. The four shuttles were surrounded by the eight Triple-S vessels from the cruiser. After The Three Hour Tour went off, things seemed to be getting worse. First the ship exploded while investigating a stellar phenomena, then the crew became delirious and saw impossible things, they had to board the escape shuttles and the survey ships in order to get out alive.

They were lucky everyone managed to get aboard the shuttles before the engines cascaded. If they were still aboard or if the shuttles didn’t get far enough to make the jump into Hyperspace, the blast would have made it extremely difficult to get home again in fewer than a couple thousand pieces.

The crew were handling the situation great, considering what had really happened. It was about 12 hours until they could rendezvous with the Starbase at Stigmata.

Outside the view port, the chaos of Hyperspace competed with the chaotic thoughts of the stranded crew. The captain noticed several of the Ta’Nar were experiencing symptoms of eye strain. That was one of the effects of Hyperspace the Ta’Nar were never able to breed out of the clone hosts. He could feel the pulsating behind his right eye beginning.

Aboard The Hell Awaits:

The ensign lay in his bunk suffering from the worse headache he has ever has. He had lived countless years throughout his existence and he could not remember the base pain he was feeling. Something was wrong. He had tried every one of the BioKinesis and Healing powers he had been taught over the centuries but nothing seemed to help in the least. Finally the pain became more than he could tolerate and he left his host.

Suddenly his pain was gone. He tried to re-enter the clone host and found he could not. Something was preventing him. He sent his captain a telepathic signal.

Imperial Palace, Earth:

The Emperor lay upon the soft cushions, appearing to be lightly sleeping.

What is the reason for this interference we seem to be feeling?

We are not sure, so far it only seems to be Ta’Nar related. There is nothing that can single us out. We have remained hidden for centuries on Earth and even longer than that on Otherwhere. No, this cannot be anything associated with any of our enemies. They know nothing of our true selves so they would have no idea how to assault us.

Then what in hell is causing it. I want the top minds investigating this.

Yes Sire. We are doing everything possible.

And figure out why we cannot re-enter out clones, but we can still possess machines.

The clones are not developing resistance or any sentience. They are completely dead so there is nothing changed with them. They are exactly the same as before according to the scans.

Cluster HQ:

The commander sat holding his head with sweat pouring off him. The pain made it hard to think clearly. It all started with that damn malfunctioning holo-projector. He made the tech run a diagnostic eight times before he dismissed the Childer in a fit of frustration. He just wanted to sit in silence until the pain went away.
Tannelorn
12-03-2006, 12:44
The Tannelornian fleet did not even bother to respond. Lord Karrak knew
that though individually, the ships of Pananab were no match for a Tannelornian vessel, it was their numbers that at this point were most worrying. He ordered the comms officers to relay a message back to New Carpentaria, then he planned his attack. They were to make no efforts to bring back the Tigerlan fugitives alive. The Pananab were offering them asylum, and an example had to be made.

As soon as the Pananabian fighter escort started to shoot at the morgenraetes, all hell broke loose. The morgenraete's targetted the first wave of enemy fighters with mass engagement weapons. They were seriously outnumbered at this point, and decided it best to attempt to clear the field as quickly as possible. Massive antimatter explosions blossomed in the cold night. Still as soon as the inevitable dog fight was joined..the enemy numbers started to become telling. Though the 'Raetes were obviously superior to the enemy fighters..there were so many of them that the odds were almost even.

Except for the fact that Tannelornian fleets contained a prodigious amount of carriers. However the second wave of Morgenraetes launched did not veer immediately towards the melee, instead they took advantage of the confusion and the dog fighting, heading past them to attack the Pananab fleet directly..their orders to target the smallest Pananabian vessels, while the ships of the line targeted the largest.

Morgenraetes were fighting and dying ahead of the fleet, and to make matters worse, the sheer size of the Pananabian fleet was causing the Tannelornians to become surrounded. The fighting ships of the fleet started to break off, forming several lines. A group of sword cruisers spearheaded by a pair of zweihanders moved in to engage the flanking force. As soon as they reached engagement range they started to open fire with massively powerful lances of gamma ray and x ray lasers. The rest of the fleet pushed forward in to the main mass of enemy ships, attempting to avoid the force moving to come up along their rear, while splitting the enemy fleet in two.

Still it was a very risky maneuver, they were heavily..impossibly outnumbered. However in close was the only place they could win. At that range the enemy would have to pile in on itself to get a clean shot. Friendly fire would be a serious factor..and 14 second bursts from high energy weapons would be far more telling.

Before they impacted with the enemy, they launched flights of nuclear missiles, all on proximity detonation mode. The were not designed to harm the enemy fleet, but to blind the sensors long enough to get clean shots off with high energy weapons at range, an attempt to thin out the numbers before the
lightning strike to come.

****

The morgenraete squadrons were having a tough time, they were outnumbered over 3 to one, and fighting a dizzying array of combatants. The problem here, was that the enemy was not using one class of fighter craft, but dozens.

This created a problem in the fact that every opponent had new and different capabilities. Morgenraetes were dying, of course the enemy fighters were too, and in droves..but the number of casualties was a little high for Captain Moonwhisper's tastes. He was leading from the front, his particle beams had already reached the overheat point several times today, and he knew that there was alot more to come.

They needed reinforcements, simply put there were too many Pananabians.

And to make matters worse, everything they used was different. He could swear only moments before he had just shot down an old Alpha fighter! The pilot was good too, he managed to score a few hits with an old slug throwing robot rifle. The phased armour of his mark III had stood up to it with little more then a few craters, but that was primarily because he had promptly shot him.

Frigates were joining the fray now, attacking his 'raetes with point defense systems. They were adding to the building count of casualties, and there was no sign of any reinforcements from the fleet..

He turned towards the nearest of the frigates, and ordered the bomber squadron's to move out. Their heavy Xaser shipkiller missiles, and Graser Cascade cannons could make short work of the frigates, if they could make it in range intact...

And the space superiority variants were far too busy dealing with thousands of enemy fighter craft to provide any meaningful support.

Captain Moonwhisper gritted his fine Elven teeth, and moved in engaging any enemy fighter within range of his particle beams.

"Looks like today, i am the fighter cover" he sighed under his breath.

Cluster Emergency Security Meeting:

The Balrogga Representative sat at the table with his head in one hand. The pain was bothering him and making him irritable. He just wanted the bickering to stop. Suddenly he stood up.

“This is getting us nowhere. There are Tannelorn ships getting slaughtered out there while we are here trying to decide what to do. I have several battlegroups ready to enter, providing the relief his fleet needs. We either need a decision or I will order the ships in.”

“Do I hear anything? Well?”

He did not give anyone a chance to answer him.

“I just sent the order to join the other Police vessels. We will prevent the Tannelorn causalities from becoming crippling to the safety of this Cluster.”

The man began walking towards the exit and stopped a few feet from the door and fell to the ground. He was still breathing but his mind seemed absent.

T-Space, Pananab border:

The groups of ships received the telepathic message to assist the Tannelorn ships. They quickly became battle ready as the Ta’Nar and the Childer left their bodies within the Replicators to be absorbed. Their pure minds merged with the ships, essentially becoming one with the vessels and their equipment.

The ships moved within T-Space until they were amid the fleets but out of the line of fire. They Emerged into Real Space and opened fire.

The Torpedo Frigates let loose with vollies of Grav Torpedoes. They took turns Emerging, Firing, Uplifting, and moving so there were dozens of them seemingly popping in and out of existence just long enough to let loose with their loads of 32 Grav Torpedoes. The torpedoes streaked towards their targets, generating a black hole 50 meters in diameter and attempted to fly through the target only to turn and make another pass. Gravemetric sensors were overloaded by the Imperial Ships and their torpedoes.

Intruder Carriers Emerged long enough to release their fighters and them Uplifted again to retreat to a safe location. The two Avatar Carriers remained in the area. At opposite ends of the battle, they turned their backsides to the enemy fleet and fired their Super Ion Cannons, unleashing a 200 meter wide beam designed to mess with enemy shield systems and electronics.

At the front lines, the Destroyers and Battleships faded into view and opened up with their own loadouts of Grav Torps. Their Beam Cannons targeted the enemy capital ships.

A couple thousand Proteus Fighters swamed into the arena, nimbly dodging the enemy fire as if they knew where the energy beams would be. (Pilots with Precognition) Their Wild Weasel cannons almost continually firing.

Washing across the field was a Telepathic Scream, emitted by the crew, as several thousand Psions all pushed the same message into their enemies skulls:

“WE ARE HERE. SURRENDER NOW”

The Pananab forces will continue to be slaughter until they either fled or surrendered.

Billions of residents poured in from all over the home worlds, eager to escape from the crowds into paradise. Of course paradise never lasts long. Terrorist factions began to emerge, urging for the government to be eliminated and control given completly to the people. When their pleas fell upon deaf ears, they rebelled and began strikes on government facilitys across the colonies. The more succesful they became, the more factions emerged. This increasingly became a threat to the government, and conscription of healthly males began. Wars raged on almost all the planets in the territory, with entire nations being plunged into chaos.

One single planet had managed to escape the fighting so far. The only planet with a shipyard capable of building Battleship-class ships. Before the war it was solely constructing giant mining and construction ships, to help make the territory a rich place. Then when the terrorists became a threat, all production was halted and they immediatly began construction on the new Orion-class Battleships. Fast, heavily armed ships useful for patrolling, attacking outposts, and battling ships much larger than them.

It was thought to be invincible to the terrorist threat. They were wrong.

Kollart Station, outer defense platform

"We have multiple contacts on all screens!"

"Profiles?"

"Looks like a couple thousand old Imperial Cruisers, Imperial Star Destroyers and the like"

"Wheres the fleet?"

"We are trying to contact them, however our long range communications appear to be malfunctioning"

"Battlestations everyone! Without the fleet i doubt we'll be able to repel them, but we can give them a hell'uva fight"

"Yes sir"

Thousands of fighters poured out of the stations, rushing to meet the enemy. The patchjob Terrorist ships rushed in between the stations, causing them to occasionaly miss and stike another. Barrage after barrage is exchanged, with hundreds of cruisers being destroyed. However this comes at a heavy price as dozens of the huge stations are destroyed and the shipyards are left vulnerable.

Before the certain destruction of these valuable assets, something miraculous appeared before the last survivers of the assault. The Terrorist ships turned against each other and began blasting great chunks out of themselves. It appeared that the great many terrorist factions had caused them to distrust each other to the point of sabotage. Later captured transmissions revealed that the ships had been sent messages by their respective factions, telling them that the time was now to strike against each other.

It was a great day for Captain Juut of the Orion-class Battlecruiser Vintadictor. Sure his people were dying, but he could finally get out of these god forsaken shipyards. His brand new ship had come out of the shipyards with several defects, so he had had to wait until they were fixed. That was finished nearly a month ago but High Command had never allowed him to leave. Now not only did he finally get to leave, but he could lead his ship into its first combat mission. One by one they cut away the clamps keeping his ship attached to the shipyards, as to avoid detection. Of course it was highly doubtful they would be detected in the chaos of battle, but you can never be too careful. As soon as that was done he ordered his crew to battlestations and ordered them into combat at full speed. The Vintadictor swung nimbly around the large Imperial Star Destroyers and began taking them apart with its powerful weapondry. Enemy fighters quickly converged on it but they were blasted away by the now rallied defending fighters. When the enemy ships began to concentrate their fire the Vintadictor simpy blasted out of the battle and waited for the Pirates to go back to their fighting.

((Seriously, nukes and radiation? Not going to be very effective weapons or jammers.))
"Ow, fuck that hurt!" Zheng said, rubbing his head, "Do we have any psychics on board?"
"Yessir."
"Tell our psychics to send teh Balroggians a reply. Tell them that we did not start this battle and we are more than willing to end it peacefully."
"Yessir."
"Tactical analysis."
"Our fighters are taking severe casualties, but at an acceptable rate. The enemy is taking large numbers of casualties, as well. We have several Medium and Small Ship Casualties, but none of our larger ships are damaged. Most of the ships' shields are holding firmly."
Zheng watched as the nuclear warheads exploded in space.
"What are those?"
"Nuclear warheads, sir."
"Nukes?"
"Yessir."
Zheng then realized that his fleet had a technological advantage along with a numerical one. Pananab gave up on nukes long ago when they began to prove ineffective against more modern shields in addition to their lack of effeciency in space. The heat and the radiation dissapated quickly, which made them better for planetary bombardments. Pananab stopped using them almost twenty years ago in exchange for more powerful Lasers and Phasers and Neutronic Cannons ((Oh my!)). The Panrabia was the only shp that still had them for space combat. The Gamma and X-Ray weapons proved to be ineffective against most of the Pananab ships, as the Shields and Radiation-resistant (Not totally) armors that many of the ships had installed. Zheng did notice, however, one ship lacking the approporiate shields and armor to protect its crew.
"Are our sensors OK?"
"For the most part. It was simple to compensate for the increased radiation, although a few of the ships are having some difficulty."
"A formal fleet is at a technilogical disadvantage against me. This just isn't fair. Order Main Weapon Volleys."
"Sir?"
"You heard me. All ships, fire main weapons at the closest major target."
All of the ships that have weaponry powerful enough to do damage fired on the larger Tannenlorn ships, particularly the Carriers.
---
The arrival of the Balrogga Fleet was more annoying than dangerous. Pananab was trying to get this matter resolved peacefully when they were Blitzkrieged by Tannenlorn, and now Balrogga. This seriously had Zheng pissed off and sent a report to the Diplomats waiting for the Open Discussions to begin at the Council. Zheng found this to be a hipocracy by Balrogga and Tannenlorn for being hasty.

But even so, the Balrogga volleys proved to be effective, messing with many shield and sensor systems.
"REFRAIN! REFRAIN!" Zheng ordered. He did not want to anger Balrogga. The fight was with Tannenlorn, not the Balroggians. Hail them and keep sending those messages!"

Subspace hails to Balroggian fleet:
We are not the aggressors! Pananab has not left its borders! We ask the Cluster Security to help turn away the aggressor fleet! I'm filing a complaint!

ooc Pananab, Gamma ray and X ray lasers are the RL equivalent to a disintegration cannon. They arent radiation weapons, that would be a neutron cannon. Grasers and xasers carve things like asteroids or starships in two. Exact same weapon mini miehm uses, only mine are much much larger. Nukes arent for killing, Anti Starship missiles are Antimatter penetrator charge, or Xaser shaped charge. Xasers and Grasers are the true juggernaught weapons of NS FT, in sol you simply cannot get a bigger meaner energy weapon.

As soon as the order to cease fire was given, the Tannelornian fleet obliged. Well that is as fast as they could, considering they were surrounded by vessels on all sides.

The Raetes that had been busily fighting a veritable horde of enemy fighters were the last to stop fighting. Namely because they were outnumbered ten to one, and didnt much like taking casualties. So everyone involved in the melee, likely driven by emotion's decided to get their last shots off. Of course until the general recall..and threats of disciplinary action.

The Tannelornian ships rode through the swarm of the Pananabian naval vessels, and turned about forming up some distance away from them. The damage wasnt so bad, a few damaged weapon systems, and several thousand tons of damaged Phase plate..that and at least a hundred morgenraetes non operational. However it could have been worse, and the pananabian fighters had definetly got the short end of the stick.

Now Lord Karrack simply had to figure out whether or not he would actually send a delegate, after all Pananab had chosen not to comply with the wishes of the rest of the system, and they had offered asylum to tigerlan terrorists.

Lord Karrack sent a communique back to New Carpentaria, and awaited a response.

"Good, at least we got them to stop. Regroup and place our ships inbetween the two fleets. If they begin firing, they will make us their enemies."

"Contact R'Vaj, he doesn't take dargan from others if they are beligerant. He will tell them where to put their garsenz if they try to bully their way through talks."

Elsewhere in the Deity Carrier, R'Vaj activated the replicator to reconstitute his body. Once the body was fully formed, he left the computer systems he had been inhabiting while the ship was under Red Alert and attempted to remerge with his body.

As soon as he entered it, he immediately felt pain. He stumbled from the bed of the replicator and fell to the floor. The body lay there quivering as he attempted to fight the pain and to gain control. Eventually he had to leave, removing his mind from the empty form sprawled upon the floor.

After a few moments spent recovering from the ordeal, he sent a telepathic message to the Commander.

A horizont shuttle streaked out of the launch bay of one of the Zweihander class dreadnoughts, streaking towards the balroggan vessel. The occupant was going to demand the release of the Tigerlan rebels, in to Tannelornian custody until such a time as they could be brought before a tribunal, made up of representatives from occupants of the Cluster.

Enough was enough. Minor wars were breaking out everywhere, and the threat to nations attempting to legitimately live side by side in peace was growing too high. After all the law of this cluster was that no one should fight amongst themselves within its confines, and they were half of adjucators of that law.

The Pananab had given asylum to criminal elements, when they refused to allow the Tannelornian vessels to pass through their ranks unmolested, they had simply opened fire. In part it was due to frustration on the part of the Lord's. After all so many people were fighting it was almost impossible to maintain the peace for long before another war broke out.

If this lawless frontier was ever to become a civilised sector of the galaxy, the rule of law had to be enforced. Tigerlan had transgressed the law, and if the Tannelornians had their way, they would pay the price. If the pananab were reasonable, they would understand the arguments of the Prefecture representatives.

The shuttle finished its journey slipping in to the Idolator's hangar bay seamlessly....

OOC:

Please assume each attending the meeting will have a simular experience as the one below. I have left out details so it could apply to all three visitors.

IC:

The shuttle neared The Hopeful’s shuttle bay.

“This is The Hopeful, please allow your Nav Computer to link with ours and it will bring you right in.”

The shuttle jolted slightly as the computer took over control and it approached the rear of the frigate. The bay lights came alive as the craft approached. The line of strobes seemed to beckon the ship into the vessel.

The shuttle entered the bay through a blue curtain of energy and hovered a moment before vectoring to the side to land squarely upon one of the launch pads while the force field contained the atmosphere of the landing bay. The craft settled without a bump.

“Please follow the green lights to the prepared conference rooms.”

Looking outside the shuttle, a glowing line hovering about three meters from the floor pointed towards one of the entrances of the launch bay. Following it led to an adjacent conference room where warm and cold drinks waited as well as several deliciously smelling foods.

There was no sign of any other activity upon the ship. Everything was eerily silent.

Captain Zalinsky strode confidently through the halls of the great balroggan vessel, he was not so much put off by the silence inside, as rather annoyed by it. After all a large ship of war should be bustling with crew, this one however was not. It was a bit strange, however it was no matter, it had nothing to do with the matter at hand.

The lord and his entourage of armsmen strode through the hall, following the directions till they came upon the council room.

****Elsewhere : New Carpentaria****

The news of the Terran confederacy of mini miehms take over of the nation of waterhelper did not go over well with the council of lords over new carpentaria. For the moment New carpentaria was still 100% under military control. And it was likely to stay that way for some time, Praetor Yannef was cracking under the strain of running the Prefecture, and he was only appointing those he knew and trusted for the most important of missions.

It was chaos. However Space Lord Abarakh found himself in a most annoying circumstance. Here now was an opportunity to serve justice, and Tannelorn as a whole. The nation of waterhelper as a rule, was well liked by the Tannelornian colonists, civil, polite and humble as befits a nation of pacifists. However with the invasion, and subsequent take over by mini miehm, things were starting to change. The Waterhelper colonies couldnt number more then a few million people, and were in desperate need of help before being washed away by the wrath of Mini miehm, losing his gambit to gain control of the cluster.

There was only one thing that could be done. As fast as she was able Lioness was sent to the Waterhelper capital colony, to congratulate the colonists on their secession, and to formally recognise them as a nation. However there was another very important matter to discuss. One that would alter the course of the future of the Cluster in every way.

Within a few minutes of confirmation of Zalinsky's safe arrival aboard the Balroggan vessel, the Tannelornian fleet, save for Zalinsky's own cruiser departed. Something was happening. Even during the conflict with the Pananab comms systems had notified Lord Karrack of a priority one message from New Carpentaria.

Tannelorn was officially at war. Earlier that day Praetor Yannef himself declared war on the Terran Confederacy of mini miehm. Waterhelper was nominally allied with Tannelorn, and when Mini Miehm's forces invaded the Pacifist nation..there was hell to pay. First and foremost Space Lord Abarakh declared the Cluster treaties null and void. No longer would the old rules apply. Those that came to the cluster would come in piece, or be destroyed by the guns of those who wished no war. Cluster3, the Colonies of Waterhelper were nominally declared a protectorate, any attacks against Waterhelpers dominion would be considered an attack against sovereign Tannelorn. This announcement was made across the cluster.

The War in the pocket had truly begun. The vessels involved in the police action against Tigerlan, who were still damaged were left behind for repair andto protect New Carpentaria from attack. The rest of the fleet capable of FTL formed up in to great flotilla's. 135 vessels in all. 65 sword class cruisers, 35 shield carriers as well as 20 Zweihander dreadnoughts, and 15 of the Morgenstern fleet carriers hovered silently above the massive gas giant. The rest of the forces in system readied themselves for any enemy counter attacks, and started to patrol. They were on full war time alert.

As one unit the massive armada prepared itself for war. Weapons more advanced then anything in the cluster armed themselves for conflict, the noble knights of tannelorn readied their Morgenraete High maneuver frames for battle. When the order was given the fleet engaged urenbeck catapults, preparing to enter the aether.

The massive flotilla shot forward at nearly 35% the speed of light before slipping in to hundreds of tiny green tears in the fabric of Reality.

****Terran confederacy colony****

The Tannelornian fleet had been here before, but as peacemakers. This time it was only for the purposes of war. Death and destruction would ensue, Mini miehms colony would become a territory of the Prefecture and nothing would stand in their way, not this time.

Like avenging angels the flotillas formed up, each flotilla exactly 12 vessels, support vessels moved towards the rear as the heavy assault flotillas took up the vanguard. DEM sensors started to flood real space with Aether, causing basic AI programs extreme problems, and leaving even the most advanced models with a painful drone in their "ears". Most importantly however not dozens, not hundreds but thousands of the Morgenraete high maneuver frames were launching from the massive fleet. Ranging ahead of the formation to find and destroy any targets they may find.

The terrans were not noted as having good fighters, and even those who did rarely had something that could match the speed maneuverability and firepower of a fully laden Morgenraete II. However the Raetes were doing just more then sweeping ahead, they were attempting to close with the enemy, to find and destroy them.

It was noted that the Fleets mini miehm had within this system used an impellor wedge design. Tannelornians had long learned to deal with such a primitive and ungainly system, universally reviled in the heart of the Sol system. Ships that used Wedge technology were all universally slow, and they could not fire through the wedge. When facing the heavily armed, armoured and incredibly fast Tannelornian vessels, it was unlikely they would be able to stand against them.

Wedges forced ships to move at painfully slow speeds, not only this but they had small spaces in between each singularity. Easy pickings for the light, 69.5 terrawatt amp 90 MASERS found in great profusion on tannelornian ships
Let alone the Massive 32 Petawatt Loengren cannons, capable of maintaining a ten second beam with 92% efficiency. The ships quickly moved towards the planet, scanning the heavens for the enemy fleet....

ooc If you really want mini, i will give you my ratings because the straight fact is i dont want to tech wank, but i have weapons that make yours look like firecrackers, as do most nations at about 6bil+. Mini this is because you invaded Waterhelper..who just happens to be my ally. I am not calling in any allies at the moment..namely because i have no need.

I am going to raise a point now as well. All but two of your fleets are heavily engaged with SQ. Your in big trouble. My navy is currently unengaged. I am only at war..with you.

A number of security personal along with several medics came rushing down the hallway. The sentries earpiece was chattering overtime as he and his fellow officers tried to clear the delegates from the door.

“Get back away from the door now! This is a medical emergency!”

OOC: A bit foolish this was... I have no issues with scrificing a system, especially when I can kill everything you're using by doing it. Enjoy the Warp Storm.

IC:

There were only a few vessels in the system, but those few would bew all that was necessary. Two Emperor class Battleships, and one heavily modified Mars class Battlecruiser, along with several Cruisers and Destroyers. The cruisers and destroyers were all on their way out of the system by this time, butthe other three vessels were preparing for something much different. First one, then both of the Emperor Class battleships disappeared. The Mars was already heading straight for the encroaching swarm. The Mars was simply a delaying tactic, even with the Doctor it could not hope to defeat the entire opposing fleet, but with the Doctor, and the Emperors contribution, this would be a devastating loss for the Tannelorians.

The Warp:

A pair of ships floated in the Immaterium, beneath both hung a Stargate, one dialed the Miehmish colony in the sector. The other dialed the Waterhelper colony. If the Tannelorians wanted to declare war for them, let them suffer the same fate. Now the Warp was pouring free of the Gates, the essence of the corrupting Immaterium flowing freely upon a pair of worlds. Upon the Miehmish colony it was a welcomed and accepted move, destined to destroy the Tannelorians as they moved into the system. Already one of the few Warp Generators was preparing to shoot the Gate at the sun, the catalyst they had used to unleash the Warp onto the SeaQuestians. When this was all finished the Miehmish would lose a world and a vessel. The Tannelorians would be utterly annhilated.

ooc hold on, you had what, maybe 1 minute to plan, coordinate and carry this attack out? The proclamation took at most 45 seconds, and once the fleet was ready, which it was as the speech finished, it would take maybe 20 seconds with DoD drives to cross the Cluster. They are a form of aether jump.

The fleet was mobilised before we declared war, the ships were over your planet about 20 seconds after we declared war. I think you should go back and retcon, you are going to have to try to fight to buy the time for it.

OOC: If any obviously hostile fleet enters my system there are only 3 plans I have made up in advance. The first 2 presuppose a decent sized force in the system, at least for this system, the third option is the only one I could use. Sacrifice the Mars and the system to destroy the attacker, then, destroy whatever resulted in the attack. In this case there is only one event that could have resulted in something like this, meaning that WHs gate gets the second dial. I could dial YOUR system if you prefer. Now, ifhaving plans made up in advance, and crews able to react in just a couple of minutes is now a crime, then we may have an issue. And yes, it would indeed be a couple minutes.

ooc 1 problem with dialing my system, i dont HAVE a star gate. And its actually fine. However those ships of yours are not getting away. They would be overrun so quickly the rest of my forces would be on the ships trying to retreat. Not only this Mini miehm but you totally screwed up the Canon.

Do you know what you did by pumping a stargate in to a sun, while it was pouring out Warp energy? Well since stargates are destroyed in the heat of a sun, as proven in episodes of SG1, and since the corrupting energy of chaos is not a weapon that can be used to create Nova bombs, then you didnt do even close to what you wanted to do.

In fact what you did was taint a star with the corrupting energies of chaos, thus making it spew corruption, amidst its radiation. Its no solar system killer Mini. So you still have a fight on your hands here. I have been playing 40k for 13 years by the way, and i know most of the fluff by heart. Trust me, its alot more interesting now then it was. Now i get to occupy a planet tainted by chaos, while my people still have NO idea what chaos is.

IC

The First assault flotillas of the Tannelornian armada swarmed past the ship sent to hold them off. However the lone mars class cruiser was targetted by over 20 ingelstung cannons, their massive Xaser beams lighting a streaking fire over the skies of the mini miehm colony world. The mars didnt stand a chance. There were far too many Tannelornian ships for it to do anything but attempt to fire back on whichever ships it could reach. And with the speed the Einhander destroyers were moving, it wouldnt be able to shoot for long.

Massive waves of morgenraetes danced and skated along its hull, picking out weapons turrets, comms arrays and anything else they could find. The massive cruiser was being relatively ignored by most of the Tannelornian armada, the other 70 ships simply ignored her, splitting in to two groups attempting to cut off the Mini Miehm ships from both sides. Then they would level their turreted Loengrens upon the enemy, letting the morgenraete high maneuver frames cripple and destroy their weapon systems. Already from the lead Zweihander class dreadnoughts, massive volleys of Loengren fire streaked from their angled forms. Each weapon was capable of carving most cruiser weight vessels in half, easily one of the largest shipkilling weapons in use amongst the ancient empires of Sol, each one guided unerringly to its target, behind a screen of blossoming nuclear fireballs.

ooc 1 problem with dialing my system, i dont HAVE a star gate.

OOC: Actually, you get to occupy a planet under influence of a Warp Storm. *points at SQs system, and Miehmish actions(unprovable) in and around that area.* It's happened, it's been accepted, Bal is using it to change his nation. If you're between my ships and the system periphery, then they just delay you even more as you try to destroy them, as even in the Honorverse, where Grasers are the cream of the crop, they don't have any effect at greater than 30 thousand kilometers. Meaning that once my ships go broadside on to you, you can't touch them with what seem to be your most numerous weapons outside of knife fighting range. I'm sure the Loengrens can do better, but even then they'd be equivalent to the other "super heavies" I deal with, and work at 50 thousand KM.

Now, with the Emperors in the Warp, and only the Mars and my various Miehmish ships in Real Space you are about to have some serious trouble.

IC:

The powerful Mars started the ball with just one shot. They knew it was a suicide mission, but they would certainly go out with style. They didn't target a destroyer, or any other light unit. It was the dreadnoughts that recieved the strike. Because they bigger they were, the better they died against the Little Doctor. Such a small weapon it was, and yet there were only 5 of them upon the entire vessel. Four beams snaked out towards the Dreadnoughts, the fifth targeted a Morgenraete ahead of it. Simply making contact with the beam would be fatal, as it disrupted the molecules of the opposing vessel. Then an expanding field of destruction would spread from the target, anything that contacted it would be effected as though it had been struck directly, and the larger the target, the larger the field generated. The bigger they are, the better they die. The lance batteries and other standard weapons of the Mars targetted several destroyers. It wouldn't last very long, but as soon as it tagged an opponent the mission would be completed. Armor plating shattered, bulkheads caved, men died, and the guns blazed with coherent fury. The Mars would die, that much was assured, but the attackers would know that they had been kissed.

The remainder of the Miehmish ships, primarily Saganami C Heavy Cruisers and Battlecruisers, but a trio of Medusa Bs were in appearance as well, and as soon as the enemy made their appearance they began rolling pods and firing salvoes. The opening strike would not be quite so dense as that usually employed by Miehmish Navy, but it would all be targetted against one opposing Dreadnought, Grasers, Lasers, Energy Torpedoes, and several hundred missiles, all against one enemy, venting their spiteful fury against the attackers that had dared to defile their legitimate holdings.

On the Surface:

The Gate was pulsing wildly already, and the first Daemons were well through, spreading terror on the surface already, a Bloodthirster strode through power armored Marines, cleaving them with a single swipe, laughing off direct hits from Pulsers, Tri-Barrels, and even Heavy Plasma Cannon. A Great Unclean One had chosen the Sickbay and Base Hospital as his abode, spreading the blessing of Father Nurgle to those within. The Lord of Change spoke his corrupting hispers into the ears of the masses, turning the Marines and Miners to the worship of the Changer of Ways. The Keeper of Secrets was the worst off of the lot, there was a great deal of vice and deviancy upon the planet, but most was rather mild. That would soon change as the carresses of the Keeper turned mens minds to other things than beer, women, and petty squabbles. For now the Keeper was rather put out, but soon there would be many more voices whispering the name of Slaanesh, and crying for his/her blessing.

"Captain high energy discharge incoming from enemy vessel." one of the crew at the helm station shouted. "Evade, all available fuel to port verniers and guide thrusters, PBS to full frontal arc." Captain Brenner stated matter of factly.

The massive energy weapon arcing from the Mars cruiser smashed against the PBS system, each of the forcefields took one point of the beam seemingly absorbing it, before forcibly going down. The ship slowed, dropping out of its Urenbeck field, decelerating rapidly over the next light second. The PBS had taken the brunt of the blast, however the secondary effect of the massive energy weapon slammed home, even through the shield generators, causing massive secondary explosions within the vessel itself. Damage control teams raced to the affected areas, only to find massive, gaping holes where the decks that housed the PBS used to be, and internal fires spreading rapidly.

The Rule of law had been crippled by the blast, her main's were down, and she wasnt capable of jumping out, or even engaging her urenbeck catapults anymore. She could defend herself with secondary weapons if need be, perhaps even still contribute to the battle, but Tannelornian commanders did not waste resources, she was ordered immediately back to the secondary "line" of carriers and reserve Einhanders, acting as long range fire support for the rest of the fleet.

Righteous Retribution powered forwards, pushing itself in the path of the Rule of law, not only protecting her but engaging the mars single handed. Across the Tac-con computer network of the Tannelornian fleet the icon depicting the mars lit up "blue", this prey belonged to Righteous Retribution, and Captain Delethor. She moved in close, full power to engines, then slipped out of the U beck field. She started to hammer the mars with massive tongues of Xaser fire, engaging entirely with the smaller turreted weapons while readying her Loengren for a killer shot, vectoring the weapons fire so it would pass right through the middle of the mars. She ignored the shots coming towards her, the PBS parrying many of the shots, and most of those that did land simply cratered her hull, thanks to the unique attributes of Tannelornian phased armour. Still here and there small explosions blossomed along her hull, signifying a hull breach.

The rest of the fleet pushed past, the 25 or so vessels that had slowed to pour a few passing volleys in to the mars sped off towards the planet itself. Quickly they took up positions, scanning for any large power signals from space.

++++++

Once they started to pick up on power sources, they started to fire the massive Loengren and Ingelstung weapons, switching to Graser mode for maximum effect within atmosphere. Weapons capable of scouring cities in a single full power blast, now precisely targetted and fired upon anything that may be a defense base, power plant or other strategic target.

They also started to fire nuclear missiles en masse, aiming for uninhabited parts of the planet, Tannelornians were naturally immune to most of the effects nuclear radiation, and used particularly clean bombs. The idea of this was to create a nuclear winter, thus causing more problems for the enemy, then for the tannelornians. Tannelornians after all, were used to fighting in the dust and muck. The first morgenraetes slipped through the atmosphere, moving upon targets already chosen by their genetically enhanced minds, as they slipped through the planets atmosphere.. Ready to take the fight to the ground and air..and crush all resistance on the planet below. Even before the second volley of massive Graser fire had started. Thousands of armsmen streamed out of the Einhander and Zweihander battle groups hangars, ready to sieze vital tactical and strategic holdings.

Also the lone Naval troopers destroyer, full stealth functions up and running slipped through the atmosphere, deploying its MK IIIs morgenraete stealth frames and dropships, readying to allow the naval troopers to take the enemy star gate before they could allow more soldiers in to the colony. The naval troopers were the elite, of an elite military machine. Each one wore a suit of the finest crafted power armour, containing not only superb tactical battle and survivability systems, but increased strength and agility, through mind control unit activated thrusters located all over the unit.

Also each naval trooper had possessed a protein based nano machine colony since he was 16 years old. And he or she was now far beyond human, faster, smarter, stronger, tougher and able to regenerate even horrific wounds, the nano machines rebuilding the body even stronger then it was before...of course they knew they were likely to be outnumbered..but they were the elite knights of the Prefectures fighting divisions...

******

The ships surrounding the rest of Mini Miehms fleet closed in, pummelling them mercilessly with everything they had, Massive Xaser bolts, Maser beams and antimatter anti ship missiles flew throughout the night skies, arching towards their enemies, as morgenraetes flew sorty after sorty, engaging enemy fighter units with Xaser missiles, plasma and Antimatter sweeper missiles, before allowing the Bombers to strafe the enemy vessels again and again with their high powered Xasers and Xaser shipkiller missiles, skating around in an orgy of destruction on the hulls of the beastly vessels.

All the while their brethren fought and died in a dizzying dance of death, spinning and whirling and a frenzy of destruction..

OOC: The Doctor does not cause crippling. It's a VERY shortranged weapon, but when it hits things, it disassembles their molecules, and creates an expanding field. Anything that touches the field has ITS molecules disassembled. The second object then creates its own expanding field, meaning that if your ships are packed closely enough, the entire fleet can be destroyed by a single lucky shot.

IC:

The lightest units were swiftly destroyed. Attacked by weapons equal to their own, and at closer ranges than even a Superdreadnought could survive. Whatever happened, losses from the standard Miehmish ships would be limited it seemed. There were many nuclear fireballs and lances of X-Ray radiation, but it seemed to have little effe4ct, the few Grasers that could be brought to bear would likely do more damage, but it was debatable if even they would prove to be truly effective.

The Mars would not last much longer, it was mostly a shattered wreck by now, but what remained was still striking out against the surrounding opponents as best it could.

As the enemy destroyer plummeted towards the planet, it was rather diufficult to pick up, but the ABSENCE of any returns from that patch was rather suspicious. The fact that no one was there to observe it seemed moot.

The agents of the Gods had moved, now only 2 remain inside the fortress. The Daemons ruling their portions of the City were already making themselves at home. The excesses of Slaanesh took place in the downtown areas, as pleasure and pain, and other other vices besides, were handed out. The outskirts and west side were haven to the Lord of Change, he finding the most receptive audience for the nessage of the Gods power among the dissatisfied and weak. The two remaining within the Fortress were the most dangerous by far, because that was where the enemy would most certainly be landing. The soldiers and Marines were already flocking to the banner of the Bloodthirster, already brutal and cruel in war, now they had no limits upon their actions. Rapine, pillaging, looting, nothing was off limits to them now, bathed in the glorious blood of those that fought against them, gathering trophies of their kills, they fought no longer for the Emperor, now they fought for the glory of their GOD. The Great Unclean One had an even more disturbing following. The Medics and doctors of the hospital had forsaken their oaths to heal, and now gloried in the power of the Disease spread by papa Nurgle.

***Rule of law***

"Captain!" a frantic voice stated. "What is it technician" he stated flatly, rather annoyed. "Sir the damage isnt stopping..its continuing on through the ship..similar to Aumanii weaponry sir.." Brenner stopped. "All non essential personnel abandon ship, ships engineers and damage control set up a nuke inside the PBS chambers" he frowned. Now he was going to have to destroy even more of his vessel to save it. However that was a far better price to pay then the death of his entire crew.

The vessel started to drift as escape pods and shuttles flooded out of her in a vaste swarm, moving away from her and the battle at large.

***Around the planet***

As soon as the Waterhelper ships launched their attack, the Tannelornian vessels stopped firing nukes. The waterhelper attack had just offset the Tannelornian calculations, and they did not intend to risk permanent damage to the biosphere or citizens through this attack. Still the massive amount of heavy graser fire was still being directed against anything that "could" be a military target.

***the mars***

The doctor had seemed to have another effect as well, just one firing of the weapon nearly wiped out an entire squadron of morgenraetes, before they realised what was happening, and thanks to the divine energy flowing through their phased armour it didnt spread as far as it could. It was sill an unsettling occurence to many of the pilots, and the demise of the mars couldnt come fast enough. Several Einhander destroyers slowed rapidly, moving along side the mars, taking hit after hit from the remaining guns, armour plate and bits of hull blasting off where the PBS systems couldnt block the shots in time. Still they knew what they were doing. Suddenly 5 massive Graser beams shot forth, the turreted loengrins raking the 10 second beams of destructive energy across various parts of the massive hull of the vessel. It was like a bear caught in the open against a pack of starving wolves, it fought hard but unfortunately, she was completely out matched and out numbered.

***The pursuit***

The 40 vessels still pursuing the remainder of the fleet continued to harry them with long range missile fire and volleys of ingelstung and loengren. These would likely not be as effect as the attacks against the mars, after all the Tannelornians had yet to catch up to them. Still the nature of a 10 second graser burst did allow for some sort of compensation while firing, and the weapons were still fully capable of scoring well damaging hits on even these massive vessels.

The morgenraetes were the first to catch up with them, and started their devastating attack runs with a ferver bordering on zealotry. The Tannelornian fleet functioned on the back of these incredible machines, they were magnificent angels of death and purity, spinning and whirling in the same dance of death. Of course there were more vessels, however there were also far more morgenraetes in this case. Tannelornians only practiced the form of war known as blitzkrieg, and had found applicable uses for it not only in defense but in siege, as well as in full scale fleet engagements and combat. After all Tannelornians were descended from a race of knights...

***the planetary assault***

Raetes were pouring down from the heavens en masse, darkly armoured figurings moving through the whirlwinds and storms of dust and wind created by tannelorns preliminary preparations for assault. Behind them were the horizont's carrying companies of armsmen in to battle. The first targets were simple, the colony itself had many outlying areas, but also it had some sites of strategic importance. Under cover of high maneuver frame they made it in as quickly as they could, flying low to avoid ground fire. Here and there a horizont was disabled, dropping its "cargo" pods to allow the soldiers to survive, albeit further from their destination then they wished.

The morgenraetes that were already on the ground started their own armoured rush against any large concentrations of enemy forces they had detected from orbit, coming in to range for missile fire and unleashing massive salvos of "linebreaker" missiles. Linebreakers were essentially kiloton level nukes, mounted inside pentrator rounds of some sort. Be they missile or artillery shell. They worked by exploding a hundred feet underground and opening a massive chasm underneath the attacking military, or in front of it, forcing many armies to disperse their formations. These and standard nukes made up the primary "artillery" of the tannelornian forces.

At the same time high in the skies tannelornian 'raetes duelled with wraith fighters, whirling and twirling in a spinning ballet, kill or be killed. Missiles, plasma bolts, lasers and particle beams all filled the air with a lethal rain of death. But the raetes outnumbered the wraiths by 10's to 1, and were capable of incredible amounts of speed and feats of agility.

However the Tannelornians still had no idea what awaited them in the outskirts of the town, the tide of filth and corruption pouring forth from the stargate was something they had never before encountered. Chaos, in its unbridled glory. However the moment the raetes had picked up on the star gate, they had launched a strike order, and well over 100 morgenraete Bomber variants had been sent on a massive strafing run. Their weapons set to graser mode for maximum damage and effect on the concentration of troops, as well as heavy and rather dirty kiloton level nukes, raining down on the only truly definitive military target they had located thus far.

The attack continued...

IC:

The guests waited impatiently in the guest lounge of The Hopeful. There were several times the war that existed a few minutes earlier outside almost erupted in the meeting hall but somehow they were able to refrain from trying to strangle each other so far. There was still no sign of their host. As a matter of fact, there was yet a sign of a crew and everything was eerily silent.

In the distance a sound began to grow. It echoed through the silent halls of the frigate.

TingTingTingTing TingTingTingTing

The metallic sound echoed louder as it came closer.

TingTingTingTing TingTingTingTing

The alien sound seemed to drive right through the envoy’s skulls straight into their brains. They even felt themselves wincing in time to the sound.

TingTingTingTing TingTingTingTing

A bizarre shadow could be glimpsed faintly diffused by the hall light. It seemed all angular and it conjured images of sleepless horror stricken childhood nights. Of waking in a cold sweat trying to see anything in your room that looked out of place. Anything that was not supposed to be there. Anything what caused you to burry your head hoping the thing in your dreams stayed there.

TingTingTingTing TingTingTingTing

The shadowy thing from your dreams stepped through the doorway.

The creature was completely black, almost as if it absorbed the very light and warmth of the room. It was the worst of insect and reptile put together, but made out of metal. Not an automaton or droid, but a living creature composed of living metal.

The obscenity to the waking world entered the room. Its eyeless reptilian head ended in a long tapered snout full of dull black teeth that looked as if they would rend even durasteel. The thing walked half upright on the rear four limbs, the source of the maddening sound. The ebony legs make the horrible sound as they pierced the first quarter inch of the durasteel floor decking. Little holes led out of the room and into the hall. The arms of the thing ended in obscene parodies of hands, elongated and multiple jointed beyond what a humanoid would be capable of ever obtaining. Spikes grew out of its head and neck leading down its back the entire 3 to 4 meter length. Its head was about on the same level with those in the room but nobody really noticed. They were bust backing away, their natural fight or flight reflex taking over.

The creature came to a stop, blocking the doorway with the bulk of its alien body.
