OOC Note: the only people who know of this ICly will be members of the Galactic Empire.
IC:
With the recent probability of a threat to the inner core systems, the Empire has seen fit that there is a need in the changing of the guard. A need to invent some smaller ships, as well as the creation of specified starships with purposes. The TIE Class Carrier was therefor invented (specifically ment to carry fighters, and have lots of cannons on the top flat surface), and the Demolisher Class Battleship introduced a new designation for a starship: Front-Line battleship.
A special shielding station is being developed to help protect the fleet, by creating a bubble around the fleet, forcing the enemy to engage in close combat (more detail to be developed).
