Government Statement

The Democratic Republic of Nottinghamshire State is hereby founded, and begins its movement towards further democratic representativeness and securement of liberty for its citizens.

Founded on an island in the Atlantic Ocean, the Democratic Republic of Nottinghamshire State has begun developing from its former Imperial past as an island Kingdom of Anglo-Saxon settlers into a Democratic Republic, following the death of the final person regarded to be part of the Imperial Royal Line, King Charles IV.

The Democratic Republic is currently being governed by what is known as the Constitutional Council, comprising representatives of each State in the Democratic Republic as they develop the Constitution of the Nottinghamshire State (Declaration of Statehood, State & Individual Rights in the Democratic Republic of Nottinghamshire State: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=470225)

Whilst not able to authorise diplomatic relations of the Democratic Republic, the Constitutional Council would like to express its intent to develop these relations after holding representative elections following the ratification of the Constitution, and asks for international recognition of the Statehood of the Democratic Republic.

Statement from the Foreign Office

The United Kingdom does hereby recognise the Democratic Republic of Nottinghamshire State as a sovereign nation in its own right. Given the current political status of your nascent nation, we will, however, wait to enter negotiations to fully define the relationship between our two states. May this be the start of a fruitful friendship between our two peoples sharing a common Anglo-Saxon ancestry.

To the Government of the Democratic Republic of Nottinghamshire State -
We hereby recognize you as an independent nation. Seeing as how both of us are committed to democracy, we request permission to set up an 8,000 square foot embassy in your nation's capital. Ambassador Tommy Franks, whose credentials we hereby present, along with his family, ten staff, and twelve guards armed with MP-5 submachine guns, will live and work in the embassy. The embassy should have a helipad, to allow for the two VH-75 helicopters we will provide, and a garage for four armored Chevy Suburbans that we will ship ourselves. If you wish to reciprocate, please contact us here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=464604). Thank you, and good luck with your nation. I personally remember the challenging weeks that our nation spent attempting to assemble a government in the aftermath of the Collapse.
Sincerely,
Mark Warner, Foreign Minister of the Provisional Federal Parliamentary Republic of The Beltway

Official Government Statement

We thank every nation that has so far recognised our sovereign status and wish to open diplomatic relations with us. However, we would like to stress that the Constitutional Council is not legally entitled to set up diplomatic relations with foreign nations and organisations due to the non-existence of foreign affairs staff at this time. Nevertheless, all requests for diplomatic relations will be handed to the first elected government for ratification.
