Sorry, I missed this thread in my search today and I was away Saturday and Sunday.

To the CNO of Gejigrad
Certainly. The third Fleet, being in the area, will participate; exercise munitions have already been distributed. However, this exercise will only be able to be for two weeks' duration, due to the possibility of war with Gilabad over that nation's threatened genocide of liberals and civil liberties activists.
Sincerely,
Benjamin Cardin, MoD of The Beltway

Where are we holding the exercise? Also, in an OOC post, could you describe the composition of your forces involved in this exercise?
"Admiral Campbell, incoming radio message," Petty Officer Second Class Raymond Jackson announced. "It's from the Ministry of Defence."

[ Sorry for the delay.
The location will be north and slightly east of Gejigrad, and I'll be using a Myth submersible carrier and some escorting subs. ]

Captain Mark Kellerman had been a Navy man since birth, and he had been rewarded for it with the command of the Benjamin Cardin. It was a fine carrier, a bit smaller than the Nimitz-class carrier he had once hoped to command, but still a carrier, a capital ship. He stood on the bridge of the carrier, looking out at the rest of the Third Fleet. The massive battleship Maryland, the two cruisers Antietam and McHenry, the four destroyers - including two built in Kellerman's own hometown of Baltimore, the three frigates, and the three submarines he knew to be underwater, waiting to sink any opponent.
"Sir, Admiral Campbell is here to see you," Ensign Patrick Grave said. Admiral Joseph Campbell had been named commander of the Third Fleet eighteen months ago, having come from commanding the Nimitz. He was poorly respected by the men of the Third Fleet, who considered him inexperienced - he never had a command before the Beltway Security Force was founded, being the XO of DDG-104, the USS Sterret, before the Collapse.
"Sir, Captain Mark Kellerman. How may I be of service?" Kellerman replied after saluting. His mind was elsewhere; he had found a single grey hair on his head that morning, and was suddenly worried that he was entering middle age. It was just one grey hair, and it could have been a trick of the light given his naturally black hair, and he knew that his family had a genetic tendency towards premature grey hair, and he was only 43, but it was still a grey hair, and it was still a sign that he could be growing old.
"Captain, sit down. As you know, we're participating in naval exercises with Gejigrad," Campbell said, then paused, taking a seat.
"Yes, we received the order to head up to northern Gejigrad yesterday, sir," Kellerman replied. "Sir, to be honest, I'm rather excited to be able to compare our planes to Gejigrad's -"
I assumed here that Adm. Campbell knows this will be an ASW exercise. If this was not desired, please ignore the following section.
"We're not. It's going to be an ASW exercise; we're the defenders and Gejigrad the attackers," Campbell interrupted, then said, "See that we get in at least one extra ASW drill over the next two days; I want to make sure we're ready."
"Understood, sir," Kellerman replied. They'd arrive in six days; was Campbell trying to micromanage him? Orders like that must be why he was growing bald...

"Sir, a message, marked urgent, coming from Cardin," a breathless Ensign Patrick Grave shouted. He had just came from doing his daily exercises, and was dreadfully tired.

Subj: Conflict with Gilabad
Message--
1 - We are currently in a conflict with Gilabad; all Gilabad ships are to be sunk on sight.
2 - Exercises with Gejigrad cancelled
3 - Send a formal request to Gejigrad for military assistance
--End of Message--
"Well, I suppose that's that. Captain Kellerman, radio - in the clear - a formal request for assistance, in my name," Admiral Campbell said.
Fuming, Captain Kellerman did so, radioing the following message:
To the Gejigrad Government -
We hereby request military assistance in our conflict with Gilabad. This conflict was not sought by us.
Sincerely,
Admiral Joseph Campbell, representing the Provisional Republic of The Beltway
