OCC: This is cleared with Secrina. If you want to join, check out the OCC thread first, as it shows sides and such. OCC Thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=468886)

The Colony of Cagamos was under the rule of Availon Daruku, Dictator of Secrina. The colony and homeland had gotten along for years in near perfect harmony. However, now the homeland had angered the colony with brutal repression of political freedoms, conscription, and heavy taxation. Most all agreed that protest was needed, however some wanted to go as far as to split and form an independent state.

The Independence movement had been supported by recent events, including a pro-democracy demonstration in the city of Macello where the government fired on the demonstrators, and the disappearance of critics of Secrina overnight in Omicido City.

Not everyone was for Independence, however. The homeland had kept taxes low for three cities to prevent a unified revolt, Lichavas, Plutzoc, and Afilis. These three cities were solidly against any form of protest against their homeland. A group of native Cagamosians from these cities, formed a terrorist organization, called the Prozotecs.

A group of Cagamosians had called a special meeting to discuss what action to take, protest or revolt.

The Evari Building, The City of Polis
The eleven entered the meeting room. If discovered, all faced charges of treason. After a bried opening discussion, Ethocha Bocca, a veteran of many wars, stood up to deliver a pro-independence speech.
“We have been oppressed for too long!” Etocha Bocca stated. “The time to rise up and take a stand is upon us! The tyranny and oppression has worn us down like our fathers before us, and their fathers before them, and all I can say is I never want my children to have to say that. I want them to be free, free of Secrina’s chains. Now who is with me?” Bocca nearly shouted.

“We are part of The Dictatorship of Secrina, they will not let us leave quietly.” Zelos Fluggisca retorted.

“We have adequate military force, if that is your concern. A large portion of the population would join us in this rebellion. Also, we don’t have to defeat Secrina, just stay alive long enough until they give in.” Admiral Alazovikos said from the military side of the room as General Mai moved to respond.
“True Admiral, but you forget the might of our homeland. Their military is skilled and powerful shown in how they have protected us for years. Sure your dream of independence and self-government may seem nice, but let’s face it… we can not survive without Scrina, and especially with them against us. We must protest the injustices, not separate.” Mai said to Alazovikos.

“What of our values?” General Athanasius Capo asked rhetorically. “We may rebel and lose, but we could win, become independent and give our people freedom. I will die before I see another generation under this tyranny. That is why we must go to war, so my children can peacefully go to college.”

Thaddeus Il Percoso stood up. He was a young man in his early thirties, but he was one of the few politicians willing to risk their life to come to this meeting, for which he was respected. “All good points, however we must agree on one unified action, otherwise we will fail divided. So, do we call for independence or not? What say you?”

The vote for seeking independence was 6 to 5. Too close for all present, so they began to debate. This debate went on for hours, trying to convince the other side or find a compromise. However the lines became tightly. When morning came, all took an oath of silence on these matters and left.

Polis, Cagamos On the Leshforsh outside the Governor-General’s citadel
General Yuevikos Mai walked toward the Governor-General’s citadel. Governor-General Turoshas Dellamorte was an agent of the repressive Dictator, thus no friend Mai. However Mai was torn over the movement toward independence, or as Mai saw it, treason. He wanted Secrina as a whole to change. He feared a revolution would give Secrina an excuse to crack down and move deeper into tyranny. The Governor-General let Mai in immediately and asked why he was here.

“A group of eleven men met in Polis to discuss the prospect of declaring independence.” Mai informed the Governor.

"Really? What group of fiesty teenagers is pissed off know?" Dellamorte stared at Mai

"I don't know who." Mai was against Independence, but would never betray his friends. He began having second thoughts about coming here.

"Surely you know of at least one." The Governor-General coldly said to General Mai.

Mai regreted coming here. He could never look his friends in the eye again after these actions. Well there is one way to go down, he thought.
"I only will tell you one, me."

Dellamorte was shocked. Mai was a decorated soldier, if such a citizen was plotting, whio else could be? Dellamorte's pulse quickened, but he knew he must not show his reaction to Mai.
"Then you were there. Tell me who else was, or we will make your life very uncomfortable."
Mai did not respond, and Dellamorte ordered two gaurds to take him down to the prison.

"He will talk." The Governor said to his aide. He then ordered a message be sent back to Secrina, informing the dictator that a group of what appears to be influencials were "upset" with him.

Availon Daruku was in the process of trouncing the general staff when an aide brought the message from one of the provincial governors.
"What is it?" He asked in a generally jovial voice. Availon was the leader of Secrina by being the best commanding officer there was, and had gotten their partially on the family name and partially on expertly tutored and nurtured talent. He also had a reputation for doing unpleasent things to bearers of bad news.

This more than anything was the reason for messanger's apprehension. He saluted with incredible precision, no reason to make General Daruke more annoyed than absolutely necessary as he handed the letter from Govornor Dellamorte.

Slitting open the letter with a 9'' combat knife, he quickly scanned over the standard polite nonsense, he got to the relevent sections. A scowl graced his face as he read. The messanger cleared his throat, awaiting Daruke's dismissal. He gestured for the messanger to leave, and as the man was halfway to the door, Availon hurled the knife, impaling the man in mid-spine. With a strangled gasp the man died. As two guards dragged the body away. Availon commented to the others on the general staff, "I lose more messangers that way." He'd decided to see how Dellamorte handled the situation, see if he maybe deserved a promotion or a re-assignment depending on how he handled the 'insurrection'.

ooc: For the record, Secrina is a Theao puppet, and for that reason, all subsequent posts will be done on the Theao account. Cagamos knows about this.

The Governor General's Citadel
eneral Mai was down in a dungeon like place. He knew that he was dead, by Dellamorte or his friends he betrayed. A gaurd walked up to him.

"Excuse me, are you General Mai?"

"Regretfulably, yes" Mai responded

"Then I pray you put your head down." The gaurd smiled.
"The Alpaca is not dead, as it shall rise" The gaurd said into his walkie-talkie.

Gun fire errupted from all around. Grenades exploded, then Mai heard people storming through the upstairs. After many shots had been fired, the Dungeon door opened. General Athanasius Capo steeped out.

"General Mai, the Governor General's Citadel is in the Independence faction's possesion. Dellamorte is dead, the arrogant fool, sending nearly all his gaurds to find us, well here we are."

Upstairs, angry civilians drug Dellamorte's body out of the Citadel and drug him among the people he oppressed. Mobs from all over Polis attacked Secrina's symbols of power with vengence. Others armed themselves and attacked armed Secrinans.

The Envari Building
Thaddeus Il Percoso got the message. The rebellion had begun. People were scampering to mobilize every farm boy and city slicker. Elected to be the political leader of the rebellion, he sent ou the following message.

To: The Nations of the World
From: The Former Colony Cagamos
We have begun a rebellion against our oppressive overlord Secrina. We request your aid in this uprising against a Tyrant.

Availon was in the middle of a council meeting when another messanger interrupted. This messanger was in somewhat improved straits than the last bearer of bad news. This was primarily a matter of tradition. People just didn't get killed at a council meeting. Handing the message to Daruke, he quickly backed out as a precaution in case the leader of Secrina decided he was going to violate tradition.

Slitting open the missive, he reads it before cursing."That fucked-up idiot of a governor. He went and got himself fragged and let those bastards actually stir up a wannabe revolution." He scowls for a moment then turns to face the council, "Out, and send the Staff in." He commands

After the councilors had filed out and the General Staff had filed in, he turned to the Chief of the Admirality, "Which is the nearest fleet to the Cagamos province."
"That would be the third fleet under Admiral Halberten."
"Then send him to blockade the island. No one in or out without authorization." As the Chief left, Availon turned to the General of the Army, "Mobalize the third and fifth divisions of the second army. Then send them the Locarnaro port to prepare to ship out. The rest of you, start comming up with any contingencies and courses of action. Dismissed."

Macello City Hall, Cagamos
Phones and pagers went off simultaneously in the lobby of the Macello City Hall. All the Secrina appointed cronies knew something was wrong, but how wrong they did not know. A squad of soldiers rushed into the room swiftly screaming to get down. The three gaurds threw aside their weapons and followed the command.

The mayor heard some comotion outside and told his body gaurd to check it out. Colonel Maximant Aiutante and a squad of rebel soldiers then kicked down the door and one soldier hit the body gaurd with his rifle butt.

"Mayor, Cagamos is no longer a colony, it is an independent state. Are you going to go along with us, or being difficult?" Maximant asked the shocked mayor.

"Whatever, just don't hurt anyone here."

"None have been, well except for your body gaurd that is." The colonel smiled, maybe this

Polis, Cagamos
Thaddeus Il Percoso was standing next to General Athanasius Capo and Admiral Alazovikos.

"General, what is your plan?" Thaddeus asked

"We will move a division to hold Omicido city. Another will move to cut off Plutzoc, as they are so far in Secrina's pocket nothing would sway them to us, so they must be cut off."

"Admiral?"

"We will put our small navy into Kalpo Bay and try to prevent Secrina from reinforcing Lichavas."

"Very well, you both may begin, keep me informed." The two left.
Thaddeus looked at his report from his aide. Macello was fully theirs and hopefully Omicido City would soon follow.
General Mai was in a room in the basement of the Envari Building. Even though he betrayed them, his actions forced the Elezerias to take action.
Now if Thaddeus could be anywhere, it would be in Secrina when Availon Daruku saw the message he was about to send

To: The Tyrant Avalion Daruku
The colony of Cagamos is a colony no more. We are tired of the conscription, taxation, and oppression of our rights. We sever all ties with Secrina and are prepared to defend our freedom from your tyrannical rule. If you try to take this from us, we wish our thoughts bloody, nothing else.

Thaddeus Il Percoso

P.S. We met once at your imperial palace last year. The only thing I remember is the time I helped clean up the bloody mess you made of my friend, I hope you have never again used your truth brush.

The morning Cabinet meeting began with the usual reports on spending and economic growth and the like, but the President really perked up when he heard the political report regarding Cagamos from the Secretary of State.

"As you can see on this map, rebel forces have strong support in 3 cities and are currently fighting against their former oppressors of Secrina."

"Now what exactly did Secrina do to them?"

"Well Cagamos was originally a colony of Secrina. I think that really is explanation enough."

The report went on and laid out some more technical details of the whole situation.

"Satellite surveillance shows nothing big happening yet. One of our subs in the area picked up some major naval movements though. Since they've already sent that communique out asking for support, I think we should send a message to the international community declaring our solidarity with these rebels."

"Uh, why?"

"This is clearly a democratic cause that we as a democratic state need to support. To join in Cagamos' fight for independence will give us a something to rally around for this year's elections. We could potentially sweep a majority in both houses of Parliament. This is assuming, of course, that Cagomos actually gains independence and becomes a viable nation."

Lost Hills' Parliamentary elections were legendary for their surplus of smear campaigns and the occasional car bomb.

"Well alright. This sounds like a cause that's as good as any. What assets do we have in the area. Secretary of Defense?"

"Elements of the Command Squadron, 2nd Fleet are conducting trials to test out the new Search and Thunder Class vessels."

"Is it going to be enough to repel any naval assault on the island?"

"Well they've got 16 Search Class Destroyers and 9 Thunder Class Cruisers. The real kicker will be the Overlord Super Dreadnaught and the Chieftain Pocket Battleship providing support. Frankly, with those ships and the couple submarines we have lying around, we'll be able to defend that island against anything."

"I'd like the rest of the Squadron on standby just in case. Assemble reserve forces within 6 hours distance of the island. Deploy what we have to establish a perimeter around the island and block off any outside support. I'd like to keep our involvement strictly naval. Let's call it Operation Bastille or something."

With that, the meeting ended and the Secretaries drifted back to their respective Departments. SecState drafted a bulletin to the international community.

Lost Hills Department of State

Lost Hills has taken notice of the thirst for independence on the island of Cagamos and has deployed a naval force to ensure that no outside forces intervene with the struggle for freedom. Lost Hills expects that no other nations interfere with this operation.

Lost Hills greatly hopes that the freedom fighters will succeed and that Cagamos will enter the community of nations as a free and sovereign state.

International Waters, 250nm from Cagamos

Having received orders from the Central Command to execute Operation Bastille, the dreadnaught LHS Sovereign radioed the other vessels in the vicinity.

From: Admiral Sternway, 2nd Fleet
To: Ships conducting trials

The order has been made to begin Operation Bastille, our support op for Cagamos. This fleet has been designated Task Force Victor-1, and we will steaming to Cagamos with best possible speed beginning at 1300 today.

It is absolutely imperative that we remember the rules of engagement and not provoke any international incidents. We are not to fire unless fired upon.

A CAP of 8 Sea Raptors will be flown at all times, with a CSA-E flying support. I am ordering the Search Destroyers to maintain a lookout for anyone not bearing a Lost Hills IFF.

Good luck boys.

And with that, Task Force Victor-1 set sail for Cagamos. Estimated arrival time was in 9 hours.

Cagamos Territorial Waters

The LHS Sovereign steamed in circles in and around Kalpo Bay, with fighters streaking overhead. Usually protected by a ring of destroyers, frigates, cruisers, submarines, and carriers, the kilometer-long vessels was almost naked, with only 2 Search Class Destroyers and a single Thunder Class Cruiser supporting it. Admiral Sternway had ordered a doubling of the CAP and 3 CSA-S to defend against hostile planes and submarines. Still, the ship was in a precarious position.

The cruiser LHS Maxson led a force of 5 ships blocking the port of Plutzoc and the battleship LHS Vree held Atilis with 6 other ships. The remaining vessles were deployed around the perimeter of the island in 2 ship teams, with one providing cover for the other. Again, a very precarious position.

Admiral Sternway studied the tactical map in the darkened CIC of the Soveriegn.

"We're too weak to hold this damned island. We need at least 30 more ships!"

"Centcom doesn't want this to erupt into an international incident. The 30 ships we have in the theater already pose a threat to our overtures of peace."

"We're in big trouble if a big attack comes. Send up a couple more CSA-E AWACS birds to keep an eye out. If anything big happens, start consolidating our ships into 6 vessel sections. Hopefully that'll give us the concentration of fire we need. Send a message to Polis asking the rebel leaders if they need any air cover."

"Aye sir"

"What are our sub assets?"

"We have 4 Hunters on station about 15nm off the coast."

"Have them patrol in all directions. If they find anything, let me know. As long as this doesn't turn into a shooting war, I think we'll be fine. Let's just beef up our security and maintain this blockade of the island."

Lichavas, Pioto Controlled Cagamos

General Avoptos was for the first time in his life, slightly scared. The Elezerias rebels had taken three cities and killed the Governor-General. Avoptos had fought in many campaigns under Secrina, even with the rebel Capo as his superior. The only places in Cagamos not revolting were the three Pioto cities of: Lichavas, Afilis, and Plutzoc, and that was only because taxes and conscription rates were extremely low there.

The three Piotos cities' governments elected him commander of all Piotos forces. The first thing he did was declare marshal law. Since the country side farmers had joined the revolt, he ordered all forces to retreat into the cities. Then when the Lost Hills Blockade came down, he ordered rationing, even though Secrina had placed massive grain stores in the cities for such a seige. The navy was confined to inner-most harbors, lest they be destroyed. He ordered the three cities to hold out for the Secrina reinforcements to arrive.

Afilis, Pioto Controled Cagamos

Picha Timore, Fikan Scheletro, and the Favatikos met in Fikan's apartment. The three were die hard supporters of Secrina. They met to plan terrorist like actions against the rebel scum.

"I have 300 loyal followers sitting in their homes with guns loaded waiting for my signal. Shall we tell them to enlist in the army, or follow us?" Picha Timore asked.

"Fear is are only concern, only one city must not fall. Tell them to go into the country side and secretly slaughter anyone who sided with the rebels. I will tell those in Polis under cover to begin planting bombs all over. When the city is captured, I want everyone of those rebel scum shot and Polis burned. We will prevail." Favatikos said zealously.

"And what of this city? Surely there are some who might support the rebels." Fikan Scheletro asked.

"After what you must do tonight, none shall remain" Favatikos commanded.

Daruke chuckled as he read the message from the upstart rebel rabble-rouser Thaddeus Il Percoso. As he penned a reply, he thought back over the last year to see if the name held any relevance. As expected, it didn't.

To: Rebel Leader Thaddeus Il Percoso
A few things in relation to your declaration of independence, and the letter you sent declaring that. First of all, my titles are Commander in Chief, Lord Councilor, Knight Commander and Primate of Secrina, not Tyrant much as it might amuse your propagandists. You claim to be willing to defend your declaration, yet you also claim to be only willing to think bloody thoughts if we oppose your declaration. It pains me to say this, but I do not remember the incident you speak of in your post-script. Should you be willing to drop this silly rebellion, I am prepared to be lenient in the sentencing.
Availon Daruke

After sending off the letter, he went over reports of satellite pictures regarding fleet movements from the nation of the Lost Hills. He picked up the phone to the Chief of the Admirality, Admiral Leon Von Rictor.
"Leon, get that fleet moving, as it appears that someone's jumped the gun on Cagamos's claims. Transfer the second task from the fourth, and the third task from the fifth to support the third fleet."
"Understood, Halberten still in charge?"
"Correct."
He then hung up on Leon and dialed James Smith, the General of the Army.
"James."
"Yes Availon?"
"Order the full second to mobalize and move out on Locarnaro."
"Roger."
With the forces moblized, Daruke decided to see about getting the Lost Hillers* to butt out of Secrinan affairs, especially internal ones.

To: Lost Hills Department of State
We would request that you withdraw your vessels from Secrinan territory promptly. This affair with the Isle of Cagamos is an internal affair and not subjected to the intervention of foreign powers.
Availon Daruke

The third fleet, supplemented by a task force from the both the fourth fleet and fifth fleet arrived and expanded to encircle the isle at a distance of 30nm for the destroyers, cruisers and frigates, while the battleships and carriers took up positions at 35nm. The inner sphere of the blockade, at a distance of 25nm was composed of patrol boats, midget submarine tenders and attack submarines. The air wings from the carriers ran both close and distance support for the naval vessels. It was now a question of would the Lost Hillers decide to pull out, stave out or try and fight first.

"Do we respond to the communique?"

The President was tired after a long night of gambling away his family's fortune at the baccarat table. As such, his mind was somewhat clouded.

"Absolutely not. Deploy the reinforcements to support our fleet. Do whatever it takes."

"Sir, SATINT shows a substantial fleet encircling our units. Looks like carriers, battleships, the works."

"Encircled!? The hell you say!"

"Yes sir. We have two decisions here. We can either remain with our forces and stay and fight and throw everything we have at the enemy fleet. Or, we can pull out."

"We've put a lot of propaganda into this damn Operation. We're going to see it through. Deploy the reinforcements and call up additional vessels to support the blockade. Mobilize a couple Marine divisions. This is going to be one for the history books."

"Yes sir."

"How many more vessels will be moving in?"

"This force is somewhat beefier than Task Force V-1. The dreadnaught LHS Hermes will be leading a couple Empire Class Carriers, with battleship support, and a bunch of destroyers and missile boats. They'll also have heavy missile support from Arsenal Ships and submarines. We also have some of those Quickbreaker Aircraft Carriers that we can deploy to Cagamos within 3 hours."

"Send the Quickbreakers with destroyer and missile escorts. Have Admiral Sternway consolidate his fleet and hold the 3 ports by any means necessary. Move in the heavy guns as soon as possible. Load up a Marine division onto the LC-2's and move them to the reserve rendezvous point."

"Yes sir."

From: Vice-Admiral Ogden, 2nd Fleet
To: Task Force Victor-2

Once more into the breach my friends! The command has come down for our fleet, Victor-2, to sail to Cagamos to support the good Admiral Sternway in Operation Bastille.

I'm sending our 2 Quickbreaker Carriers with a couple escorts ahead of the main fleet just so the Admiral doesn't get crushed before we get there.

Standard CAP and ASW operations will be conducted. I'm ordering Hunters ahead to intercept any attackers.

Get some rest, you're going to need it.

Kalpo Bay, Cagamos

"Are you kidding? Please tell me you're kidding."

"I'm sorry sir, but it looks like a sizeable fleet has encircled us."

"What's the status of our forces?"

"Our ships are moving into 6 vessel sections. They are moving toward the nearest port. The CAP of 8 Sea Raptors is still up and the CSA-E's have been toned down to 2. The Hunters are holding position within striking range of the fleet."

"Who are they?"

"Looks like the colonial power coming back put down this rebellion. They're going to need the ports to hold the island."

An ensign rushed in.

"Sir, flash traffic from CENTCOM."

To: Admiral Sternway, Task Force Victor-1

Hold the damned island. We're sending Admiral Ogden and some more vessels to support you.

The rules of engagement are changed. You will fire if you feel that your security is compromised.

Good luck.

The Admiral shook his head and drank from his coffee.

"The whole world is going to hell."

"Sir, we have unidentified fighters buzzing around our airspace!"

"Launch a squadron of Sea Raptors! Get the them hell away from our ships! Send a message to Admiral Ogden. Tell him to prep his air crews for immiediate combat upon his arrival. Looks like this is going hot."

"Aye sir."

"Send a message to the fleet. Let's get ready."

From: Admiral Sternway
To: Task Force Victor-1

I am moving the fleet to alert level 1. This is intended as a warning of combat. Missile and gun crews should be readying for combat.

Hopefully by now the sections have consolidated into sizeable fleets. As long as our missiles work, we'll be fine.

When the order came down to fire a shot across the bow of one of the SFLT ships, the railguns of the Sovereign sprang into action.

Lt. Walter Hobbes was the fire control officer in charge of Sovereign's #3 14" railgun. He supervised the loading of the projectile and prepped the gun for firing. The target was what appeared to be a support vessel or tender of some sort the CSA-E's spotted about 15nm out.

"Sir, we are cleared to fire."

"Fire the weapon."

From the bridge, Admiral Sternway could feel the impact from the high velocity round leaving the gun. In the distance, he saw an orange glow.

"Shit."

The Sovereign was a relatively new vessel in the LHN fleet, being an upgrade from the Atlantis Class Dreadnoughts. As such, Lt. Hobbes was not altogether clear as to how the new fire control solutions worked and bracketed his shot incorrectly, hitting the SFLT vessel with a 14" round.

The Admiral was, of course, not altogether pleased.

"There's no way we can get away from this. We're into the thick of things now. Suggestions?"

"Sir, we could send a message to SFLT explaining the situation and asking for forgiveness."

"We're not girls, Commander. Anything else?"

"Sir, I suggest we launch a preemptive strike against SFLT. We're going to be fighting with them anyways as soon as they find out we hit one of their ships; I suggest we take the initiative and hit them before they know what's going on."

"Sir, the LHS Watterson and the LHS Samur have arrived 40nm from us. They are requesting orders."

The Watterson and the Samur were the two Quickbreaker Class Carriers sent to support the Sovereign.

"Sir, a CSA-E we have on recon has found an enemy carrier and battleship formation 35nm from the island. Their escort destroyers and cruisers are 5nm away."

"Have the Quickbreaker wings attack the brunt of the carriers. Hit the blockade with missiles from our cruisers and then launch our planes to break through the destroyer screen.

From: Admiral Sternway

You are ordered to launch your aircraft and support an assault on SFLT. Coordinate with the Sovereign CAG.

A major assault was underway. Ahead of the main force, 12 EF-18G jamming aircraft began jamming the enemy carrier and battleship radars. Behind them flew a few squadrons of F/A-22B Sea Raptors, configured for air assault. Behind those flew the 3 bomber squadrons of FB-22B Sea Kestrels. Behind them flew some more F/A-22B Sea Raptor Escorts. CSA-E and CSA-S planes provided ASW and AWACS support. They made a beeline for the carriers in the SFLT formations.

The cruisers assigned to support the Sovereign fired off a hundred AGM-85 Lance anti-ship missiles each into the fleet. Approximately 500 missiles streaked toward the enemy ships, with multiple squadrons of F/A-22B and FB-22B fighters and bombers following. CSA-E planes provided AWACS cover.

On board the Sovereign, the railguns began opening up on targets found by CSA-E spotters. The sounds of the 30" ETC guns and missiles flying over was deafening.

The Admiral watched his symphony of destruction working together. My god, he thought, How many will die?

Outside Afilis

1,500 citizens who were in support of the rebels were allowed to flee the city. Mainly this was to unify the city and not feed enemies during the seige.

As the refugees walked on the road out of Afilis with little food or water. Little did they know that 200 of the refugees were included Picha Timore, (OCC: The terrorist leader mentioned two posts ago.) and his Prozotec followers.

Once Afilis was out of sight, but the rebel lines were still far off. The Prozotecs brought out their guns and began to fire. They worked systematically in groups, killing the stronger refugees first.

After all that could fight were gone, they hearded the rest down into a valley, and then the Prozotecs put land mines around them and were on their way deeper into no-man's land...

Calpo Bay

Admiral Alazovikos kept his small fleet close to Lichvas as the battle ensued. Beyond rag tag converted boats useful for attacking unarmed ships, he had 5 outdated destroyers, 20 combat patrol boats, and 4 outdated cruisers that Secrina had left. All were over 30 years old.
He had been told that he was going to be put under command of Lost Hills and Spartanox both, since his fleet was so small. He sat and awaited instructions.

Polis, Cagamos

"We are in an intresting situation. We are seiging the Secrina Loyalists, while Secrina is seiging us. We are in control of the farms, so we can hold out, but how long can the Piotos?" Thaddeus askedto his war council in their many locations over encoded messages.

The reply was that they could hold out for a long time, especially with their extensive food supplies and the reports they were allowing all rebels to leave.

"So starving them out will take too long. We must then move to take the cities in a bloodbath. Begin drawing up plans, that is all."
Thaddeus then sent a coded message to their allies

He was counting in his mind to see if any of them was lost.

Charles Martin frowned as he looked at the account balance flashing on the screen. While it displayed a sizable ammount, Martin knew that it wouldn't last forever.

"This is not good," he muttered to himself, "we haven't had a job is over three months and the funds keep going down."

Giving a resigned sigh, he turned off the computer and walked over the the wiskey decanter located near the door of Omicron Solutions' offices/apartments in downtown Beta Aurigae City. Pouring himself a glass, he opened the door and walked down the hallway to his personal apartment went inside and headed for the refrigerator. He fixed himself a sandwich and had just settled down to watch the soccer game on TV when there was a knock at his door.

Without looking up from the game, he called, "It's open."

The door opened and one of his chief partners, Duncan Miller poked his head into the room, "We've got a situation here that you might want to take a look at sir."

Flicking off the TV, Martin stood up and followed Duncan out the door taking his sandwich and wiskey with him (a man's gotta eat right). He entered the office to find the rest of his partners waiting for him. Walking around the desk, he seated himself once again behind the computer.

"What do you have for me," he asked.

"Something right up our alley but with a bit twist this time," said Martin Kebit.

"It seems from what our people in Aurigean Intelligence that the colony of Cagamos has broken away from their parent nation Secrina and they are having a right old time civil warring over there. And just to make things interesting, the rebels have enlisted the help of a few other nations leaving Secrina a little on the outnumbered side. Now usually we would take the rebel's side but seeing as we need the money and they have all the help they need, I think we should help Secrina out instead."

Charles thought about it for a second before saying, "OK, we'll do it. The situation seems moderately dangerous so we charge our normal rate with a little bonus on the side if we win. Get the rest of the squadron ready and I'll meet you on the roof as soon as I send a message to the Secrinian(?) leadership."

Charles quickly coded a message and sent it to Secrina and then grabbed his sidearm and left the office. Damn it felt good to be back killing people.

3 Sea Raptors and 4 Sea Kestrels had been shot down over the course of the battle by missile and gun fire. As the fighters came back to refuel, the Admiral ordered another missile salvo from the cruisers supporting the Victor-1. Having consolidated his forces, the Admiral had 5 cruisers supporting the Sovereign and thus 500 more Lances were fired into the various vessels of SFLT.

A communique arrived from Vice-Admiral Ogden of Victor-2

From: Vice-Admiral Ogden
To: Admiral Sternway

Task Force Victor-2 has arrived on station 45nm from the island. We are awaiting orders to attack. We have 4 Empire Class Carriers with air wings available, as well as fighters and bombers from my dreadnought Excalibur. We also have a division of Marines packaged into handy LC-2 landing craft and San Antonio ships.

Say the word and the missiles are away.

The Admiral considered this. His own missile supplies were down to 60%. He ordered a missile salvo from Victor-2. The aircraft would be held in reserve.

40nm from Cagamos

The Quickbreaker air wings were weary after heavy fighting. An entire squadron of Sea Raptors was knocked out by high missile density in the vicinity of the enemy fleet. The bomber crews fared better, losing only 12 planes. Luckily, none of the precious AWACS planes were lost, since they stayed well away from actual combat.

The Watterson and the Samur with their escorts withdrew back into the relative safety of the bulk of the fleet. It would be tough for SFLT to launch an assault there.

45 from Cagamos

Admiral Ogden ordered his Arsenal ships to fire off a missile salvo at SFLT.

5 out of 7 Arsenal ships fired off 100 missiles each into the fray. At this point, 1500 Lances had been fired into the enemy fleet, with many more bombs, missiles, and shells lobbed from the continous air and sea pounding. Hopefully the enemy fleet around Kalpo Bay had been decimated.

As I said in my earlier letter, if you choose to cease this campaign the sentencing will be lighter than it might otherwise be.

Availon Daruke

To: Lost Hills State Department/Spartanox State Department
I would again request that you leave Secrinan affairs to Secrina.
Availon Daruke
After he'd handled the diplomatic letters, Availon looked over the RTSImaging of the conflict. What he saw was both pleasing and disheartening.

*************

As the fleets duked it out, with vessels being sunk on both sides, Daruke picked up a phone and hit the button that would get him Von Rictor.
"Leon, send in the wolfpacks."
"Yes sir." Leon replied, a slight quiver in his voice at the thought of deploying the vicious marine wolfpack squadrons amonst ships completely unprepared for then. They utilized speedboats to get a couple platoons of marines onto a ship, where they'd cut they're way to the bridge, slag it and anyone who got in they're way and move onto the next vessel.

*************

The mini-subs, small two man vessels with only a few torpedos each were focusing on rudders and propellers of the medium craft. For they're size, they were surprisingly effective at crippling cruisers and destroyers. Meanwhile the full sized vessels both submerged and surface based traded cannon fire as well as missiles while receiving massive amounts of fire in return.

The aircraft were proving the skill of pilots trained to excell, as while they didn't rule the skies, they did keep many of the hostile fighters and bombers away from the enbattled vessels below, thought they too were suffering losses.

"Sir! The Altec is reporting boarders!"

"Oh goddamn. Who uses boarders in this day and age? Turn on the HES and Mist Refraction Systems. The only way they'll find a bloody target is if they run into the goddamned ship."

3 destroyers had been lost already to boarders and torpedo fire. Guardian turrets were able to eliminate the majority of the torpedos fired at the fleet and actually fired on the mini-subs as soon as the torpedo threat was eliminated. Triada armor was able to limit the extent of damage to the ships.

The Admiral didn't want to lose any more of his shiny new ships, as most of his escorts had been knocked out already. He ordered another air strike and missile salvo at the enemy fleet. Torpedos from his destroyers and cruisers would be fired upon the fast moving ships.

LHS Altec, Kalpo Bay

Marine Gunnery Sergeant John Peterson shivered inside his armor. He, like the rest of the Marines in the fleet, was wearing the new T-51C advanced powered armor. Clutching his M-8, he heard the alert.

"Boarders inbound. Prepare to repel."

The GSgt. was assigned the bridge along with 8 other Marines. It was kinda crowded, what with all the armor they had on. Hearing screams of pain from outside, he fired his weapon into a crowd of men who had burst in. A bullet struck him, but was defeated by his armor.

Similar scenes were repeated all over the fleet.

45nm from Cagamos

The wolfpack marines were use to facing other marines, and even thought these were slightly more heavily armoured than normal, it just meant they were slower and more ackward. When facing those who focused on blitz tactics, it was a pressing liability. A marine lined up a grenade launcher with rapid-fire capabilities, and loosed a full belt, eight grenades, of mixed AP and AT grenades into the bridge.

***********

The HES, and Mist Refraction stealth systems had a rather major deficit, that the Secrinan navy utilized to maximum effect. As each ship's radar and communication systems were interlinked to the larger vessels, and those linked to satellites, there was only a extraneous delay of a second in the counterfire of the vessels.

***********

Meanwhile a moderate number of the medium ships, and a large number of the light ships had been sunk, while only a few of the heavies had suffered sufficiant damage to force them to pull out, thought most were missing at least on R2-D2 or ABMA1.

We wish for independence. We wish no harm done to Secrina except for any actions taken against us, for example your military. Thaddeus Il Percoso

Thaddeus looked over some more reports, the Piotos were heavily fortifing their cities, the general staff says it would be best to take Plutzoc first, as it was the lightest in defense and would hinder enemy movement on that flank, and some terrorists were rampaging refugees. Well, time to do something about all this.

Outside Afilis

Picha Timore and his Prozotecs had cut a path of destruction across the land outside Afilis. The small farming communities were not protected by the rebel army yet, so they were easy targets. In all, ten villages had been raided, and 3 had been completely burned to the ground. Anyone that opposed them was killed instantly in a hail of gunfire. A small rebel armory had been hit, and the Prozotecs could now fight for more time.

Lichavas, Pioto controlled Cagamos

General Avoptos watched the explosions over Kalpo Bay. The city had been readily fortified, the food supplies were distributed far around to prevent being wiped out at once like in seige of Lennigrad, and the citizens were being fed more propaganda than food for the inevitable task of killing their fellow Cagamosians. For the first time since the war started, the encoded radio transmitter was up. He needed to contact the homeland now.

"How goes the Battle of Kalpo Bay?"

"We're taking moderate losses. Updated casualties show another 3 Sea Raptors shot down, with a destroyer and a cruiser disabled. The additional reinforcements of Task Force Victor-2 should seal the deal."

"How heavy is Victor-2?"

"They've got a dreadnought and 4 battleships with them, along with 6 carriers and a plethora of destroyers, subs, and cruisers. They've also got a couple Marine regiments on landing craft."

"Hmm. I'm afraid they might pull something big. What other naval forces do we have left?"

"Well we've only committed about 1/3 of the Second Fleet to the battle. We still have the First and Third available for combat."

"Move the rest of the Second Fleet into the theater and place the First on standby at the staging point. I want this done right."

"Sir, that's going to mean moving several hundred major vessels. It'll probably take at least 2 days for us to make it happen."

"I don't care. Do it."

The Sergeant watched as the entire bridge crew, along with one of his Marines, were killed by the grenades fired into the bridge. He stepped over to the entrance and fired his M-8 at full automatic into the boarders. The rest of his Marines followed suit and the ship was soon secured. The armor made the decisive difference.

A Lt.Cmdr from the ship's CIC dashed in and assumed control of the vessel. Sensing that the enemy fleet was weakening, he ordered, without authorization, all of the missiles in the cruiser to be launched at the enemy fleet. 300 Lances poured out of VLS tubes and streaked toward the remaining capital ships of SFLT.

LHS Sovereign, Kalpo Bay

"Who ordered those missiles to be launched?!"

"Unknown sir. Looks like they went off in the confusion of the attack."

"Too late to worry now. Let's build on it. Order a full assault. Aircraft, missiles, guns, torpedoes, submarines. Everything. We're going to take these guys out now.

The cruisers fired off their remaining missiles. In addition to the 300 from the Altec, 1500 more Lances flew into SFLT. Targets were mainly capital ships and the cruiser supports. The big guns of the Sovereign started firing as well, aiming at the flattops.

The aircraft of Task Force Victor-1 flew into the air for a final assault on the enemy fleet. Having destroyed most of the smaller vessels already, the bombers were free to let loose bomb after bomb into the medium and heavy ships of SFLT. The Sea Raptors focused mainly on providing air cover for the Sea Kestrels, shooting down enemy fighters with advanced AIM-125 Longarm ATA missiles.

Task Force Victor-2, 20nm from Cagamos

"Alright boys, let's wrap this up. Fire off the remaining missiles in the Arsenal ships and launch a salvo from the cruisers. Launch the air wings of the Artellion, the Vlasic, and the Calvin. Hold the planes of the Martial in reserve for now. Target any unfriendly vessels. Finally, have the surface combatants open up with the big guns."

2000 additional Lances flew into SFLT. Over 300 aircraft lifted off and started launching missiles, rockets, and bombs into the SFLT formations. The Excalibur and the 4 battleships supporting her started firing their massive guns.

"This should end it. What's the status of the Hunters?"

"They've begun prosecuting targets. Torpedos have been launched."

"Good."

"Sir, communique from CENTCOM."

RE: Damage Assessment

The Battle of Kalpo Bay has as of yet resulted in a tenuous tactical victory for our fleet. SFLT has withdrawn to a position about 100 nautical miles out, from the latest SATINT. It appears that they are getting ready for more action. Our supply ships have come in and we are re-arming and refueling in preparation.

Of major surface combatants, losses were moderate for a force of our size. The combined fleets lost 6 destroyers and 3 cruisers, with the dreadnought Sovereign moderately damaged. The carrier Samur was hit by a big gun round and is currently undergoing repairs. 1 Hunter Class submarine was lost.

Air losses were somewhat heavier. In total, 25 Sea Raptor fighters and 14 Sea Kestrel bombers have been lost over the course of the battle. A CSA-S ASW plane was also shot down.

Enemy losses at this time are unknown.

It is our recommendation that we consolidate the Second Fleet and concentrate on eliminating remaining SFLT assets in the region.

Task Forces Victor-1 and Victor-2 consolidated to form Task Force Victor-3. Victor-3 formations in and around Kalpo Bay effectively blocked off the port of Lichavas from the enemy. The elements guarding the ports of Afilis and Plutzoc reported minor damage and little combat; apparently the bulk of the fighting occured around Lichavas.

With the re-armed Arsenal ships and cruisers, thousands of missiles were pointed at the enemy fleet.

"Ensign, what is the maximum effective range of our Lances?"

"200nm, sir."

"Fire off a salvo from one of our Arsenal ships. See if 500 missiles can put a damper on their repair operations. Hopefully their guard will be down and we can finally sink a couple of those damn carriers."

The Arsenal ship LHS Palm was moored to a tender and fired its entire payload of 500 missiles toward the enemy fleet. One of the tender crew was killed by the launch. The rest of the crew commenced re-arming.

"Now have the submarines establish a defensive perimeter around the fleet. Make sure nothing gets through. Have a couple probe SFLT and see what we're up against."

"Yes sir."

Moments later, it exploded, launching some of the crew into the air then to the water. NFS Gerda finally sunk. The admiral saluted....soon the others even the sailors from the other ships saluted.

"We've lost 4 destroyers, 2 cruisers, 6 F-35, 3 F-22 Raptors, and 2 F-15's."

The fleet pulled back, with the lighter vessels screening the carriers and heavier ships. The reply bombardments wrecked some of the corvettes and destroyers, including splitting one frigate in half.

Meanwhile the submarines attacked to the fleet were attempting to balk the scouting hostile submarines. Iin a combat zone, the duty time was only four hours when not actively engaged, this was by it's very nature designed to prevent sloth or loss of attention. With the launch of the volley from the arsenal ship, the majority of vessels were mid way throught it's duty roster, but one carrier's crew was at it's change over period, and worse luck, it was at the outer edge of the assembled vessels. While the majority of missiles would be either blown down, or a few might over/undershoot, the carrier took a full seventy missiles slammed into the hull, and broke the back of the might vessel.

Meanwhile, the mini-subs were preforming their other primary function with distinction. They excelled in anti-torpedo and anti-SS missile warfare, which is precisely what the missiles launched from the Spartanox fleet were.

"Alright Captain, what do we have left?"

"Well since our fleets consolidated, we haven't taken any major losses. We've been able to stave off most of the mini-sub attacks. Looks like another destroyer was damaged by a torpedo; we're repairing now. In total, we have 19 destroyers and 12 cruisers left, with 7 Arsenal ships backing them up. 12 Hunters are providing a screen for us. We lost 2 while probing SFLT. Of carriers, the Samur is still undergoing repairs; we estimate 6 hours until it's operational again. We have the four Empire Class wings, with the other Quickbreaker and the two dreadnought wings ready so we're set for air support."

"When is the rest of the fleet arriving?"

"Make it 12 more hours. That's a ton of vessels that's coming in. The entire fleet together will be an awesome force. Another Overlord Class Dreadnought is being thrown into the mix, along with about 100 assorted subs, destroyers, and cruisers. We'll definitely be able to hold this island against anything."

"Well we've done our job. Pull the subs probing SFLT back and have them screen the fleet. Keep the CAP up around the fleet, 12 Sea Raptors. Contact the rebels and see if they need any help. Let's see what they can do."

General Athanasius Capo's Headquaters outside of Plutzoc

General Capo looked over the plan. It was perfect. The Division sized force of Patriots would sneak through a sewer that would be opened by a Patriot agent inside Plutzoc. The force will then pop up in the middle of the city, and take out the defense positions. Then the other Division sized force will storm the city and overwhelm the surrounded defenders. However a few fortified positions were too much to bet on taking out successfully. He was going to need some help.

Few minutes later....

"Sir, the reinforcement fleet will arrive in 48 hours."

"Good. Send out the submarines for patrol, and be alert for Ticonderoga's messages."

James Hammer was likewise contemplating the maps, thought he had a rather more devious plan than Halbertan.

"Do we have the capability to do this?"

"Of course sir."

"Then do it. Launch a squadron of Sea Kestrels with JDAMs and knock them out."

18 Sea Kestrels loaded with bombs took off from the deck of the Sovereign and flew toward Plutzoc. The CSA-E AWACS assigned to support them transmitted target coordinates to the firing computers onboard the bombers. The stealth technology employed by the Kestrels would hopefully allow them to evade any enemy search radars and planes.

As they neared the target, the Kestrels armed their weapons. 48 JDAM GPS-guided bombs fell on each of the targets outlined by the rebels.

The Kestrels turned back and flew back toward the fleet at Mach 1.8, flying high above the clouds encircling Cagamos.

The Spartanox reinforcement fleet is more than twice as big as Admiral Stanley's fleet. The fleet is consists of:

17 Firestorm III AS
25 F-100 Alvaro de Bazan (frigates)
50 Hauptmann Class Missile Boat
7 DDG-51 Arleigh Burke
2 Flank Class Destroyer
4 Thunder Class Cruisers

1 CVN-68 Nimitz
1 Empire Class Carrier
1 Valkyrie Class Helicopter Carrier
7 CV-98 Benjamin Cardin
1 DN-1 America (NFS Spartanox)
1 Lord Class Battle Ship
4 Hiragi Class Battleships

This reinforcement fleet will be commanded by Captain Lush and his flagship the NFS Spartanox. The fleet will contain about 14,000 Novators and 825 aircrafts (F/A-22 Raptors, FB-22A, F-15S/MTD) plus 175 RAH-66 Comanches. Admiral Stanley knows that the rebels have attacked Plutzoc, which means that there are 2 more major cities that are controlled by the enemy. This was a perfect time to attack one of them.

His plan was to attack Lichavas, which was heavily fortified. In his plan, Captain Lush will meet with Captain Roberts's fleet. Captain Lush's and Captain Robert's fleets will sail towards Lichavas and first bombard the Lichavas then attack it with the airforce.

With the sighting of numerous misty shapes on the horizon (apparently the HES systems weren't engaged), murmurs could be heard all across the fleet. Was this the Second Fleet? Were they finally going to be reinforced?

The answer, luckily, was yes. The remainder of the Second Fleet took up supporting positions around Task Force Victor-3. This included: 5 Chieftain Class Battleships, 1 Overlord Class Dreadnought, 4 Empire Class Battle Carriers, 36 Search Class Destroyers, 48 Thunder Class Guided Missile Cruisers, 36 Hunter Class Submarines, 36 Arsenal Ships, 24 Stingray Class Guided Missile Cruisers, and various assorted tenders and supply ships. All in all, it was a mighty fleet.

The combined fleets now had over 63,000 missiles to fire, 72X 30" ETC guns, 36X 18" coilguns, 72X 14" railguns, 24X 4" railguns, 24X 8" railguns, 36X 6" railguns, and over 1000 fighter and bombers to defend the island.

SFLT would have a hell of a fight on their hands.

"Sir! The destroyer and sub screen is reporting contacts 75nm off the coast!"

"IFF?"

"IFF reports as SFLT sir."

Admiral Sternway now considered his options. There was a pretty big enemy fleet out there waiting to attack him. He had a pretty big fleet to attack them. It seemed like the thing to do was attack them now and not waste any more time.

"Damn it."

The problem was, if he threw all of his assets at SFLT now, he wouldn't be able to defend Cagamos against the repeated counterattacks he knew the Secrinan's would throw at him.

"What the hell. Fire off the Lances. Let's knock them out."

"Sir, what about our air assets?"

"Well you might as bloody well launch them too, Captain."

Aboard the 43 Arsenal ships of the fleet, preparations were made to launch the heavy anti-shipping missiles, the Lances. 21,500 Lances were launched at the enemy fleet, with each vessel targeted by numerous missiles. Roughly half of those missiles were configured for pop-up attack, that is, they climb very suddenly before impact and fall vertically onto the deck on the enemy ship. This greatly increases the chances of evading defensive fire and directs the full force of the missile into the deck and superstructure, as opposed to the more heavily armored sides. After the missiles were launched, the tenders immiediately began rearming the VLS tubes, with 2 ships to a tender.

The carriers and dreadnoughts of the fleet began disgorging hundreds of aircraft. The strike planes carried a variety of missiles, bombs, and rockets with which to attack the enemy fleet. 360 Sea Raptor fighters and 248 Sea Kestrel bombers took off with 96 CSA-E AWACS planes and made their way directly toward the enemy fleet.

The hundreds of heavy guns started opening up on targets spotted by radar and UCAVS. The 30" guns onboard the Sovereign were only working at 50% efficiency, and 2 of them were actually down for maintenance. Otherwise, thousands of high explosive shells and rounds began raining down on SFLT. An errant Sea Raptor was actually exploded in mid-air by a high-velocity railgun round.

LHS Jolt, Kalpo Bay, Cagamos

Marine Lieutenant John Walker sized up his troops. The Jolt was a pocket battleship that had come in with the rest of the Second Fleet.

In their T-51C armor, they ambled onto a MV-22 Osprey and took off toward SFLT, along with 3 MV-24 Peregrine gunship escorts. Their mission was to infiltrate aboard the flagship and scuttle it to carry confusion and panic into the enemy fleet. It was a pretty good idea, but hard to execute.

Besides, 20 Marines and a couple planes were expendable.

Captain Roberts then sent the message throughout the fleet, including the fleets of Captain Lush, and Admiral Alazoviko. Everyone of the carriers from the reinforcements will be sent to south of Lichavas with many ships protecting it. The carrier fleet sailed to the south at full speed. The bombardment fleet sailed closer to Lichavas to there assigned positions.

About half an hour after Captain Roberts recieved the orders from Admiral Stanley, 14,000 Novators were launched from the bombardment fleet. Distant explosions can be heard. Chairs rattled, pictures fell off the walls, and glasses spilled, but General Avoptos remained calm. For an eventual victory, Lichavas would have to withstand more than this in the future.

He had ordered most inhabitants into subway stations, sewers, old fallout shelters, and under ground bunkers for protection. SAMs that were hidden under tarps, in buildings, and trains were ordered to fire at planes, but the anti-ship missles and artillery were not all fully operational, so Avoptos decided to wait until all positions were set up.

Unfortunately, the limited airforce would have to be scrambled and most likely destroyed, as sitting on the ground would end their existence really fast. LHS Invincible, Kalpo Bay

The Invincible was an LC-2 Class ship, which meant she carried 1000 Marines and a ton of gear. She was one of the 18 ships of her kind in the fleet. 8 Valkyrie Class Helicopter Assault Carriers and 6 San Antonio Class Amphibious Transport Dock Ships held the rest of the 33rd Marine Division.

2 Chieftain Class Battleships were diverted from the attack on TFLT and were assigned to provide fire support for the Marines. The big guns opened up on the shoreline, bombarding it with massive shells.

From the Invincible and the other LC-2 Class ships, as well as the San Antonios, AM-158 and LAV-28 vehicles began pouring out of the well decks. With the support from the air, almost 400 vehicles in total made for land with thousands of Marines.

LHS Brother, Kalpo Bay

80 MV-22 transport birds lifted off the Valkyries, supported by 240 X-20 Attack Helicopters and 72 MV-24 Peregrine Escort Aircraft.

Carrying almost 1,750 Marines, the Ospreys made for the dockyard, with the X-20's and MV-24's providing fire support.

2nd Bn, 258th Marine Regiment

The AM-158 was cramped, but 18 Marines with their T-51C assault armor fit in easily. The Marines fingered their M-8's and waited nervously.

"2 minutes! 2 minutes to the dock!"

The Marines were used to landing onto beaches and charging into glorious victory. This time, they would be landing into a facility crawling with troops. It would be a tough nut to crack.

The amtrac landed and unloaded. The Marines could hear the dual 35mm cannons firing DU rounds into enemy emplacements. The rear ramp opened and they swarmed out.

LCpl. Edward Steam saw a scene of devastation. The massive guns of the battleships had destroyed many buildings in the dockyard, and the Marines of the 33rd were advancing through little resistance.

Steam took his squad and began clearing buildings. They made for a cluster of burned out hulks about 200m from the landing site.

"Enemy MG nest!"

A machine gun began spitting out bullets at the advancing Marines. Apparently it was a 0.50 caliber gun, because 3 Marines immiediately fell and stopped moving.

Steam yelled out, "Get that amtrac up here! Fire some grenades into the damn thing!"

An AM-158 lumbered up and fired its cannons and grenades. The nest was destroyed.

The Marines kept advancing. Where the hell are those Ospreys?, Steam thought as his Marines swept through the compound.

1st Bn, 259th Marine Regiment

The Osprey pilots were literally freaking out. SAMs were coming at them left and right, and they couldn't find a landing spot.

"Goddamn! Intel said we'd find plenty of LZs."

"It's a dockyard. What do you expect? Let's find a nice street to put down on."

"Alright," he clicked on the PA, "Looks like we're taking a detour boys. No LZs around here. We'll be putting down in the city itself."

The Osprey put down in a courtyard about a kilometer from the dockyard. The Marines emerged from it confused, but soon linked up with other Marine elements that were dropped off in the same way. A couple officers met.

"What's our status?"

"3 Ospreys were shot down as they approached and we've lost a couple attack birds. Other than that, looks like we're in decent position. Command says for us to hold what we've got until the Marines attacking the dockyard can secure it."

"How many guys did we get in?"

"About 1,500 were able to make it off the birds and another 3,000 made it onto the beach. I think they're trying to dock the big ships so we can get some tank and armor support."

The rattle of gunfire interrupted their conversation as their position was attacked by Loyalist forces. An MV-24 was called in and its 30mm gatling mowed down the attackers.

Move to engage the Carrier escorts now! 1st Fighter and Kitchen sink, cover them! 2nd, on me, we are going to keep their fighters busy over the city." Smith knew when he took off he never would step foot on the ground alive again. He had heard the Rebel navy was protecting the carriers, that meant his friend Alazoviko was there, but the city must not fall he thought. Now, for the ralling cry...

"They are bombarding your home! Your family may be safe for now, but your city is in peril. For Lichavas!"

The 2nd raced toward the group of enemy fighters.

"Fire missles now, now, now"

The missles streaked toward their targets, but others came back the same way. 7 of the MiG-25s became fireballs, but the more experienced pilots were able to get away.

"Fire at will!" Smith ordered as he moved behind an enemy. He was the best pilot in Lichavas, as well as one of the better ones in the world, it was time his enemies found out.

2nd Bn, 258th Marine Regiment, Dockyard, Plutzoc

LCpl. Steam surveyed the area. The 2nd Bn had played an instrumental role in eliminating some enemy heavy guns shooting on the amtracs and LAVs as they poured in from the amphibs. Now that the port was secure, the Ro/Ro ships docked and started offloading their cargo: heavy armor.

The 33rd Marine division was an experimental unit, designed to integrate heavy armor and firepower into what is usually a lightly equipped, well-trained force. Included in the package were the heavy hitters of the Army mech forces: the T-7 Gilgamesh and T-5 Lightning MBTs, and the A-1 PAC-RAT Armored Personnel Carrier. These supplemented the usual Strykers and Buford armored guns of the Division.

As a T-5 rolled up beside the Corporal, gunfire erupted from the buildings bordering the dockyard. Apparently Loyalist forces were retreating in this direction.

"Alright boys! Let's take these guys out!"

The T-5 fired its 140mm ETC gun into an apartment building, knocking a massive hole in its side. The Marines laid down covering fired from machine guns and advanced into firing position, under even more covering fire from the hundreds of 35mm cannons of the armored vehicles.

The Marines were able to repel 3 attacks, while only losing 32 men.

1st Bn, 259th Marine Regiment, 1.3km from the Dockyard, Plutzoc

The 1st Bn was in rougher shape. Without any armor support, the 1st had been taking the brunt of the attacks of retreating Loyalist forces. Though losses were still light (20 killed, 48 wounded), they were still enough to make the commanders worry about their ability to hold their positions.

"We've gotta link up with the rest of the division. We're sitting ducks out here," an officer yelled.

"We're staying put. Division HQ wants us as an outlying picket."

"Are we even being reinforced?"

"Not at the moment."

All throughout the battle for the city, X-20 helicopters and MV-24 gunships provided fire support for the beleagured Marines. They would hold their portion of the city and the rebels do their work.

The retreating Loyalist forces suddenly realized that their fall back position had been taken. Panic striken, they ran into nearby buildings. But their numbers were dwindling.

"The dockyards are our only hope. We have to dislodge those Marines."
A Loyalist captain declared from an abandoned apartment.

"Tell the 3rd Regiment to hold off the Rebels long enough for the rest of us to dislodge those Sea Demons. Get the rest of 1st Division and 2nd and tell them to go for broke!" The captain ordered over the radio. He turned to his aide and said;
"If they can hold us off, I will surrender unconditionally to the demons at that exact instant!"

Over Lichavas

Smith was really low, lower than he had ever been over a city. He kept flying over the hidden SAM sights and through raging fires to confuse IR missles.

Only 1 more besides him left, a scream soon filled the radio, only me left he thought. He had killed many enemy fighters that day, but too many remained. After a turn dangerously close to a towering fire, he noticed an enemy right in front of him.

"Go out with dancing" he said to himself. He pushed the throttle forward and pulled up on the stick. The massive enemy air fleet all turned to face him, but after some quick moves, he had a lock on the enemy that had caught his eye and fired his last missle. As it steaked away, he got missle warnings galore, and knew he was dead, or could take another option. He reached down and pulled the eject handle.

"EJECT EJCET EJECT" he yelled over the radio

South Seas of Lichavas

The screening fighter force was down to 4 planes, err, make that 3 planes. The Su-25 commander ordered them to bug out, as the 6 Su-25s that made it alive to this point would be in range in a matter of 15 seconds.

"Almost there..."

Rebels

The CNS Liberty Admiral Alazoviko's Flag Ship

"Missles! Incoming!" Someone yelled.

The missles moving at 4 times the speed of sound struck the rebel ships with a passion, but Alazoviko only cared about was the one coming straight for the ship he was on.

Unfortunately, when the missle hit, it set of the ammo magazine. Limbs, corpses, and semi-alive bodies flew out away from the ship. Of the few that were not instantly killed, Alazoviko was among them.

After a harsh landing, he looked around. 4 of his ships were on fire, 2 were sinking. Looking down, he noticed the water around him in a 2 yard radius was red. He knew it was over, said a final prayer as things started to go black, and closed his eyes forever.

Rebel Command Post, Plutzoc

Colonel Alwanzini looked at the map. A company of Loyalists were currently having their retreat blocked off, while the Lost Hills force had brilliantly taken over the enemy command post, on top of the reported loyalist surge toward the dockyards.

"Call our allies and inform them of the immenient attack. The two divisions attacking are at about 1.3 Division strength. Get artillery to focus on the loyalists' path to the dockyard. And will someone please tell me why that left flank is still intact?" The Colonel grabbed his coffee.

He was stressed. He had just taken over for General Capo, as he was inroute to begin the attack on Lichavas. Luckily the loyalist airforce had been withdrawn from Plutzoc, allowing for the very small rebel airforce to be deployed to defend cities.

He only needed at little longer to take the city...

Rebel Troops, Outside Plutzoc City Hall

Fire intensified coming both to and from the City Hall. Rebel troops had orders to take it, obviously for morale reasons.

"Hamstong, Roberto take two squads up and blow open the back door!" Lt. Opelli watched as the men went with their orders. He reached inside his pocket, the flag of his new nation, one of the first made, was to be raised above this building, and he was going to do it.

As the fleet of Lost Hills opened fire with their swarms of missiles, the Void which was presently fairly deep under the water, fired the vacbombs. These were not targeted at any ship, but to come up in the space between the hostile ships for best effect.

Meanwhile the satellite assisted R2-D2s opened fire as well as flak turrets, decoys, jammers and burners, which was the product of the Star Wars project, all let loose on the in-rushing hoards of missiles.

The response to the launching of aircraft by the Lost Hills carriers, was the launching of the Secrinan's own interceptors.

While the traditional heavy vessels had to expose their vunerable, so to speak, flanks to the bombardment, the Hammers, a class of ship unique to Hammer's fleet, had their heaviest guns mounted along the bow, and could thus return fire with a much smaller profile, which meant much less likely to be hit.

ooc: I'm very sorry(and I'm suffering for it with the catch up I have to do.)

"Yes?" Thaddeus asked.

The messenger just stood their, and he came near to crying. Thaddeus got up and took the message out of his hand:

To: Thaddeus

The Cagamos ships under Admiral Alazoviko bravely protected the carriers during the Pioto counter attack. Unfortunately, the Pioto fighters were able to unleash a missle barrage on the carriers and Alazoviko's ships. 4 ships are severly damaged, and 2 are at the bottom. Admiral Alazoviko's ship was struck and the explosion set off the ammo magazine. All but three low ranking sailors were lost. I regret to inform you that Admiral Alazoviko was found dead, floating in the sea. As he was close to you, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thaddeus feel into his chair, and began to cry.

Wapti Airport, Rebel Territory Outside of Lichavas

General Capo's plane touched down on the runway. Rebel troops stood by to watch the arrival of their great general. As he exited the plane, he was greated by cheers and applause. He quickly made his way to a car that took him to his command post.

He was still very sad from Alazoviko's death, as he had been a good friend, but that friend would want him fighting. He surveyed the map with his staff and came up with two plans, he decided to send them to his allies to see what they thought.

To: Our Noble Allies
From: General Capo

I have arrived on the outskirts of Lichavas, and the
time has come to strike. We have 6 divisions ready
to go, however only 2 have extensive military training.
With this limiting factor, we have come up with two plans:

1. Our troops make a full attack on the city. Your air a
nd sea forces focus their attacks on the troops in the
eastern suburbs. Once we are established in there. We
push on to the city center, while your forces support us,
as well as keep the western suburb forces too occupied
to move until we can surround them.

2. Our Troops fake a massive attack on the Western flank.
After the Piotos send extra troops to reinforce them,
whatever land forces you have land on the North of Licavas,
taking their fortified positions and catching them by surprise.
With these positions gone, the enemy will probably surrender,
or at least not want to fight.

Or we can combine the plans or use a completly new one you
think of. But no matter what plan we think of, the
bombardment should in hopes of at least a few soldiers giving
up before we invade.

Thanks to our allies! We will never forget your gracious favors!

Pioto

Smith landed in a dumpster. He cut his chute loose and took shelter in a rubble pile that used to be a home. The enemy planes quickly left the area, as the SAMs were still intense, telling Smith they had had enough and were taking the victory as it is.

He looked around. Buildings were on fire and rubble was everywhere. He saw a burning home that had been smashed by the burning remains of his plane. Civilians ran out to check on people laying lifeless in the street. Some were alive, some where not. Smith then saw a house that had been hit by a stray missle, it used to house orphan children, now it was their mortuary. As he saw his friends' shops in flames and the military taking food from children to stay alive, he grew angry. The man who had just killed a good deal of men was done with it.

He had enough. The quickest way to end the bloodshed in his home town was going to be to give in. He threw his pistol into a fire and walked in the direction of his beach house.

Not being to far away, he got there quickly and grabbed some food and water. Then he uncovered his jet ski and got on. He reved it up and headed in the direction of a Rebel ship that was still floating. The ship signaled for him to get off the jet ski and into the water. A small boat of rebel marines came over and harshly pulled him in their boat and cuffed him.

After being taken into the brig, the captain came to speak to him.

"I will tell you everything, just uncuff me and give me a map of Lichavas." Smith said.

The Captain complied and Smith drew out all the hidden artillery and SAM sites from memory.

The Admiral saw a massive fireball erupt off the port side of the ship, about 300 meters away. He was knocked down by a shockwave and immiediately called for a status report. He got up. In the distance, he could see one of his flattops exploding.

"Looks like some sort of explosive device detonated off our port side. 3 other ships are reporting explosions as well."

"Damage report!"

"Number 3 turret is disabled. We have a hull breach in engineering. Repair teams are working on it now. Estimate 2,000 casualties. "

"How about the other ships?"

"The carrier Artellion has exploded. We've lost about a quarter of our air effectiveness. 3 destroyers and a cruiser have been destroyed as well. Enemy ships are firing heavy gun rounds at us. Portholes and stuff have been blown out all over the fleet. The deck crews of 3/4 of the ships in the fleet have been wiped out. Preliminary casualty reports estimate 20,000 dead or wounded."

"Send the Hunters in. Keep returning fire with our own guns. Ring up CENTCOM. We might need reinforcements. How are our fighters doing?"

75th Fighter Squadron, 25nm from SFLT

"We got bandits coming in! We are weapons free. I repeat, we are weapons free!"

The F/A-22B Sea Raptors of the attack armed their AIM-125 Longarm LRAAMs and fired them off, over 400 streaking toward the enemy interceptors. They dropped down and armed their shorter range AIM-9X Sidewinders, preparing for head-on combat.

LHS Gilgamesh, underneath SFLT

The Gilgamesh and 3/4 of the other subs of the fleet. About 36 now held positions in and around the enemy fleet, using their ionic silent propulsion drives to get into position, and their APDS sonar to ping for targets silently.

Targeting an enemy heavy gunship, the Gilgamesh fired off 10 torpedoes and dived down to 500m. The other subs in the formation did the same, some firing at the carriers and battleships, and some dueling with the SFLT subs.

2nd Bn, 10th Marine Regiment, 30nm from SFLT

Lt. Walker and his troops huddled together in the Osprey ferrying them to SFLT. Their orders had now changed. Given the high probability of failure, they were now ordered to seize an enemy gunship and sail it into the enemy fleet, then exploding it.

This was a suicidal tactic. Lt. Walker was sure that he would be able to get his men off the ship before it exploded.

1st Bn, 259th Marine Regiment, 0.7km from the Dockyard, Plutzoc

Facing a reinforced division strength attack, the 1st Bn was kicked back about half a kilometer, with gunships and helicopters covering the retreat. A company of Pac Rats had come up to support the assault, as well as some M-8 Buford guns.

Firing on enemy troops as they came in, the officers met to discuss the situation.

"We've lost a bunch more men. We might have to fall back to the Dockyard."

"Oh shut up. We've only lost 4 more guys since the last attack. I think we'll be fine, especially with this armor support we've got."

Seeing a column of attacking troops come up the road, an A-1 Pac Rat APC fired its dual 56mm rapid-fire cannons, and body parts went flying.

The Marines providing a screen for the main body of troops, about 1,300 of them, managed to stave off the enemy counterattacks while only losing about 100 of their own number. The success was later attributed to the massive firepower and the new power armor deployed and integrated into the division.

Smoke can be seen as the Spartanox Squadrons near the carrier fleet. The pilots were shocked because Mission Command told them to head back as soon as possible, but MC didn't tell them that the fleet was under attack.

"Last enemy bomber down! I repeat...Last enemy bomber down!", said a pilot who was fighting over the fleet. Nobody cheered as the pilot said this. Instead, it was just silence.

"...Jesus...", another pilot said as he circled around the fleet. He saw rebel ships that were in serious trouble. Fire was present in almost all of the rebel ships. He watched in horror as the rebel flagship, CNS Liberty, was sinking. There was a huge hole on its side.

"What's our status?"

"All of the squadrons are within 30nm from our fleet."

"How many did we lose....both ships and fighters."

"Sir....we have lost about 97 planes overall, and a badly damaged escort destroyer....the NFS Maui."

FROM: Captain Roberts

We have succeeded in attacking and destroying the enemy airforce. Not one enemy plane survive. All squadrons are now heading back to our fleet. The attack on the city was successful, but we would need help from the rebels to fully control it. I also have bad news....a group of enemy fighter-bombers attacked our fleet. Our ships are okay, except for the NFS Maui, which is heavily damaged and lost its ability to fight. However, the rebel fleet wasn't so lucky. Most of their ships were destroyed and sunk. I am sad to inform you that Admiral Alazoviko is dead. A missile hit the ammo storage of his ship. Having all this said....Our mission was accomplished. What are your next orders?

Admiral Stanley was happy that Captain Roberts and Captain Lush had succeeded in attacking Lichavas. However, he was sad that the rebel Admiral was killed. Right after reading Captain Roberts's message, he recieved a 2 messages from the Rebel forces. The first message was a plan in taking Lichavas. After reading and analyzing the message, he decided to choose both plans, option 1 and 2

He then responded to the second message:

Air
As the incoming hostiles loosed their terrible weapons, the interceptors responded by spewing decoys and launching TAMs. As they raced into the hellish skies they armed the HAVOK missiles and prepared to battle for ariel supremacy.

Subsurface
The Lost Hills submarines had managed to sneak under the radar so to speak and gotten rather unpleasently close to their objectives. As the submarines attached to both Hammer's Fleet and the fleet commanded by Admiral Halbertan moved to drive off the attacking vessels, they let loose torpedoes aimed at the surface ships.

This had different effects depending on who's vessels were being targeted. Those fired at Halbertan's vessels were unimpeeded and thus did quite a bit of damage to the lighter vessels, thought the compartmentalized nature of the larger vessels prevent the hoped for number from being ruptured and sunk. Hammer's craft had gotten into a habit of deploying the TorpNets, and while they slowed down the warships, they also caught and rendered impotent the vast majority of torpedoes.

Low Air
One fighter pilot, who'd dropped down to strike at the enemy fighters from beneath, while a few of his compatriots went to strike high spotted an oncoming Osprey and with a tap of his throttle to bring the reticule untop of the indolent vessel and waited for a lock.

ooc: Sorry about the lateness. Jolt has eaten my post three @$#$^$#$%# times.

OOC: Sorry about that; I'll edit it. Actually, having my navy so horribly damaged like this gives a good excuse to upgrade and restructure it. Is a TAM an anti-missile defense thingy? Oh and don't worry about being late; it happens.

LHS Gilgamesh, under SFLT

"Sir, we report zero hits. Fleet reports major damage and loss of effectiveness. Looks like some sort of major explosion."

"Oh hell. Fire another volley, launch the Lances and get us out of here. We'll go back to screening the fleet."

The 33 subs (3 had been sunk) fired 10 more torpedoes each and then launched 90 Lance anti-shipping missiles each from their VLS cells. Popping up right underneath the fleet, it would be difficult to eliminate them easily.

The subs dived back down to 550m and headed back toward the fleet, hoping there would be something left to defend.

75th Fighter Squadron, 10nm from SFLT

"They've launched decoys."

"Here they come!"

The F/A-22's fired off their AIM-7 Sparrow medium range missiles and split up into attack formations. CSA-E AWACS planes gave the fighters vectors to attack.

It was now a close range battle of skill. Planes were being downed left and right, a disproportionate number of them from Lost Hills. Hopefully sheer numbers would win the day.

Again more of Halbertan's vessels were damaged, including a battleship that had been broken along the spine and sunk. The Lances were more effective against the netting, and resulted in the loss of a destoyer and a corvette to suffer a couple man-overboards.

In a one-on-one dogfight, an interceptor held the edge against a fighter, but this was most definately not a one-on-one dogfight. I was thinking as soon as that battle is over, (This post will have the Piotos surrendering) your forces there could be airlifted for essentially the same role in Lichavas.

Pioto

.9km from the Dockyard, Plutzoc [B]

The Pioto Captain could not believe it. The small screening force of enemy marines had prevented his 1st Division from breaking through to even assault the dockyard. Troops had to be shuffled there from other parts of the 1st Division who ran into little resistance. By sending his forces at them in smaller groups, the Pioto had condemned his men to die.

Now with just a few hundred men left in the 1st, not even with the near full strength 2nd could they defeat all the Rebel and Lost Hills forces. He had no choice. he ordered all loyalists to surrender. Then taking a white bed sheet he tied it to a meter stick and held it out the window.

After the fire all stopped, and as the Rebel troops began to cheer. He walked toward the Lost Hills Marines with the white flag. He then asked them a question.

"I ask to surrender to you. You have slaughtered my army and made me an example of failure for the rest of history, but please let me retain some honor and surrender to a force from a real nation, and not my rebelious brothers."

[B]Lichavas, General Avoptos' Command Bunker

Avoptos looked at the map for the 80th time that hour. The initial bombardment had been much more destructive than he thought. He had his troops spread out in the best locations, but as Plutzoc is surrendering, he could not afford to be cautious.

"Take this message down and send it to our fleet, I want to see what our orders are." Avoptos commanded.

A priest said the rites of Chrisitan burial, and as the casket was lowered down, 5 fighter planes flew overhead, with one symbolically breaking off.

Thaddeus Il Percoso got up to speak.
"Admiral Alazoviko was a patriot. He was never one to sit back and order his men around, he liked to be in the fray with them. As we stand currently in the midst of our first and greatest challenge, fighting for our independence, I have to say that the city of Plutzoc is surrendering. Admiral Alazoviko would be proud of all of us, and he was. That is why we must fight. For ourselves, for our children, and for Admiral Alazoviko!"

He then stood over the grave and poured a glass of fine wine over the casket. Then as thousands cired, some of those injured in the same attack buried the Admiral while 6 soldiers gave a 12 shot salute.

Lt. Col Dartmouth of the 259th Marines saw a white flag come up in a window about 300m down the street. Calling for his men to cease fire, he walked up the street and gladly accepted a surrender.

The Piotos would be held as POWs in the Dockyard until the conflict was over. The Rebels would not be allowed access to them, unless specifically requested and cleared by the Central Command. A Captain on his staff rushed up to him with a report.

RE: Status Report

We have taken Plutzoc. Piotos are surrendering all over the city. I have dispatched a few companies to secure the airport and have the fleet shift operations from the flattops to the strips. They're really taking a hammering out there.

Latest intel shows that Lichavas is about to fall. Spartanox has been bombarding it for a while now and the rebels are about to move in. We've been called upon to help. A couple battalions of the 258th are en route right now.

Your orders: keep the peace and get ready for a possible Secrinan counterattack. The fleet is still offloading men and materiel. We're in this for the long haul.

2nd Bn, 258th Marine Regiment, downtown Lichavas

LCpl. Steam hit the ground running. His platoon didn't hitch a ride with the rest of the battalion, in the MH-53J Pave Low IIIs. No, he had to be special and ride in on an X-20 Attack Helicopter with 4 other men. Approximately 750 Marines were dropped into downtown in this manner, with 1,000 more assaulting from the outskirts. Since the sea battle was still raging in the bay, only 1 battleship was detailed to support the attack. A Chieftain rained down railgun slugs on Loyalist positions in and around the city.

With his 4 men, he linked up with the rest of his platoon and made his way to the objective: a Loyalist HQ running C&C for the defenders of the city set up in a hotel.

Sneaking up to the target, he ordered a squad to run diversion from the rear, as the rest of his platoon attacked head on. Grenades were quickly fired into the windows of the left side of the building and 12 men rushed into the rear of the building, firing their M-8s on full automatic. Hearing the screams coming from inside, Steam cleared the rest of the building.

No armor support, he thought. If they attack us with tanks, we're screwed.

His musings were interrupted by a fresh burst of gunfire coming from outside. The Loyalists were counterattacking.

We have heard about the victory on Plutzoc. I am happy that you guys took the city. Anyways, we still have 2 cities that we have to take and control. I have one question: When do we attack Lichavas?

I suggest that we do it as soon as possible.

The fleet is presently engaged with the naval blockade. As such the time till breakthrought is indetermained. As such, the suggested course of action is to commence guerilla operations until such time as reinforcements can arrive to crush and drive back the rebels.

The Gilgamesh was able to make it safely back to the fleet. Another sub was lost in the process. It seemed like the battle would be decided by the aircraft now..

75th Fighter Squadron, 10nm from SFLT

The 75th was down to two planes after being decimated by the enemy interceptors. Before the other 16 were downed though, they each managed to fire off their AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles. Hopefully the interceptors had exhausted their countermeasures by now and would be susceptible to attack.

Total air losses included three full squadrons of fighters and one of bombers. Over 150 planes remained though and the bombers started firing off missiles and rockets into the enemy ships.

While the submarines had driven off the intruders, in the process they'd suffered sufficiant damage as to render an effective pursuit impractical.

The interceptors had whittled down the hostile fighters, but had likewise suffered a whittling of their own.

As the bombers moved into to try and work over the fleet the AA boats, nigh indistingusable from a corvette save at close range, swung their SAM launchers and flak turrets upward and began to turn the sky into an ariel hell.

Rebel

Plutzoc City Hall

Photographers looked on as the Flag of Secrina was lowered from its place of power. It was promptly lit up by a squad of rebel privates and cast onto the ground.

The brave Lt. Hurtgensen, who had personally taken the city hall all by himself, saving his troops caught in the Pioto crossfire, then raised the new flag of Cagamos, above the battered city, to the cheers of rebel troops everywhere.

The Dockyards

Major Swallard got out of his jeep and walked toward the Lost Hills command post. He wanted to thank the ally.

He also was to inform the commander of his government's will to award the highest award possible in Cagamos, the Eagle Star to the commander of the 1st Bn, 259th Marine Regiment and a soldier on a A-1 Pac Rat APC that was reported to have performed with great bravery. The first Eagle Star award ceremony would also include 5 rebels that fell in the city, 3 living ones, including Lt. Hurtgensen and PFC. Ayura Coraggio, the boy who opened the sewers to the rebels.

General Capo looked out at the city. Except for the surprise Lost Hills force, there was much peace.

Pity.

From: General Athanasius Capo, Cagamos Army

My forces are finally in place. Commence your attack!
Lost Hills has landed forces
downtown and are attacking the hotel that intelligence
tells us is the entrance to the underground command
bunker. As soon as I send this, 2 of my divisions will
commence the fake attack on the East flank. While the
rest sneak to the West.

Capo then got on the radio to his officers.

"We are attacking Lichavas. It is a strong symbol of our nation, and the people inside are like our family. But since it is in enemy hands, all must be treated as potential enemies. Do not let your gaurd down, as terrorists have been operating in other areas of our land. But act kindly to those who have been checked, to heal our nation. Commence Operation Alazoviko!"

With that artillery opened up and troops began their assigned movements.

General Avoptos' Command Bunker

Avoptos was drinking some much needed coffee while looking at the Secrinian response. He had divided some loyalist citizens into guerilla units, but he was going to cause as many causualties to the enemy as possible.

"General, enemy forces landing nearby! Looks like maybe a battalion or so!"

"Get the defenders at the shopping mall and the city hall to get over here and contain them. Get the 8th and 7th regiment over here to take this force out!"

"General! They are heading directly for the hotel entrance!"

"Let them into the tunnel, then seal the exits. They are the thickest doors around, let this be their death!"

As the hotel was taken, Avoptos ordered to fall back into the tunnels. His troops had arrived on the scene. Unlike the untrained militia forces at Plutzoc, these soldiers were professionals, more of a match for the Lost Hills Marines.

The missles hidden on the coast were then ordered to open fire on vessels that wandered too close to shore. Just as the battle was turning nto a victory, another message reached the bunker.

"General, the rebels are bombarding the East suburbs, and scouts report movement of at least 2 division sized forces to strike in the East."

Avoptos cursed under his breath.
"Quickly bring the 3rd Division's eastern most units to those suburbs. Bring the 3rd's Western most units into the middle. If the attack looks fierce, bring the rest in too!" He ordered.

Admiral Stanley's main fleet had linked up with Captain Roberts's fleet and with what was left of Admiral Alazoviko's fleet hours ago. A. Stanley had already contacted Captain Roberts about the major offensive on Lichavas.

Airwing Mission Briefing Room:

Admiral Stanley: "We will attack the enemy by air. So, helicopter units will play a big role in fighting the enemy ground units. Our mission is clear, attack the East flank of Lichavas and hold that position until allied forces link up with us. Then, we will advance downtown. Since our earlier air attacks have destroyed most of the enemy SAMs and anti-air guns, you guys should have no problem flying over downtown I also got good news, Captain Roberts's air fighters have destroyed every single enemy fighters there was. Anyways...Our first objective is to attack the enemy's East flank and hold it. Now remember, I want non-military targets untouch!"

A few minutes later, the message Admiral Stanley was waiting for finally arrived.

"Sir, General Capo's message has arrived."

"Alright...Give me the microphone." Admiral Stanley then said through the intercom of the whole fleet...."This is Admiral Stanley talking. COMMENCE OPERATION ALAZOVIKO! I repeat....COMMENCE OPERATION ALAZOVIKO!"

Proactio, largest Eastern Suburb of Lichavas

A captain ran toward the command post.
"Sir! Enemy forces are movin.." A sheel fragment tore through the captain. Colonel Spritzy got down to the ground until the shells stopped landing near his command post. Then he talked to a major, which told them that they had no idea what was going down. Then some chatter on the radio.

"Rebel Forces are moving at us! Estimated at least 2 divisions!"

"Air craft approaching from the sea! Massive attack looming!"

"Lost Hills Marines have landed downtown! Command bunker under attack!"

Spritzky then realized this was the big deal. Artillery was striking everywhere, and soon those enemy planes would be reigning death from above.

"Get the Stinger troops to hide until we give the word! Tell everyone to take shelter where ever they can. The bombardment will stop and then the fight begins!" he ordered. He moved toward the line to the bunker.

"Front Door calling Basment, come in Basement"

"Go ahead Front Door"

"Enemy attacking, bombardment is heavy. Request reinforcements be brought up."

"Roger that Front Door, half of the thrid Division is on its way, the rest is standing by in case it is needed."

Great, just got to hold on..

"Broadcast that the sky is falling!" Avoptos ordered to the nearest aid. After a puzzled look, the aid went on with it.

A Residential Area, In the Capital Polis

"The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling."

Picha Timore picked up the radio, yes it was true. Ever since he and his terrorist comrades had left Afilis they had been gathering followers and preparing for thier attack. That Radio message was the signal to go on.
He put on his disguise, concealed his two pistols, and calmly walked out side.

All across Polis, some 300 people dropped all they were doing, and began heading toward the government offices downtown. All had some sort of hidden weapon with them, whether in a vehicle or on their person.

Fikan Scheletro turned off the radio and threw it into his bag. He gazed out the window at the dockyards. The Lost Hills Marines were at rest, what fools. Little did they know, their world was about to be rocked.

Fikan reached down and picked up a remote control. He put his finger over the button, but he decided to wait until after the Rebel major who just arrived in his jeep went inside to talk to the Marines.

[B] Near The Alpaca Division, attacking the Eastern Suburbs

A crawling rebel soldier suddenly stopped moving. It was no Rebel, but Favatikos. A hidden pager had just gone off, telling him the time was now. He signaled to the 30 soldiers around him and they slowly got behind the main group as they crept toward the suburbs.

All of them soon appeared to be stragglers in the group of 40 rebel troops. Soon they were getting grenades ready and leveling their weapons.

MajGen. Thomas O'Neill received his visitor with great pleasure, offering him coffee or tea. Thanking the Major for his kind words about his troops, he left for a meeting with his operations staff.

"Report."

"We're having trouble dropping off the rest of our equipment. The fleet is pulling out and moving to Kalpo Bay to support the assault on SFLT. We've had to reload about half of our equipment onto the boats."

"How are we strategically?"

"We have a solid picket set up with our armor. Our men are now sweeping the outlying buildings for any infiltrators. We have about 2,000 men just hanging around, though."

2nd Bn, 258th Marine Regiment, downtown Lichavas

"Steam! Take your squad and clear that damn tunnel!"

The 2nd Bn was between a rock and a hard place. They were spread out in a cluster of 6 buildings surrounding the hotel and were getting hammered on all sides by highly trained and effective troops. 20 Marines had been killed and 36 had been wounded so far.

The good news was that the rest of the regiment was pushing through the city. Heavy lift choppers had been able to bring in a limited number of LAV-28s and A-1 Pac Rats. They were now moving toward the Downtown area, clearing the buildings as they went. Attack helicopters and gunships were strafing streets and leveling buildings.

This, however, didn't help LCpl. Steam all too much. Leading his squad into a tunnel, he was followed by another platoon of battle-hardened troops. Fingering their rifles, they suddenly realized that the room had gone dark. They were sealed in.

"Alright, Richards get on the radio and let the Colonel know that we'll have to clear this out on our own. Leave a squad here to guard the entrance and make sure we aren't blocked off any more. We're moving out."

"This is probably a command bunker," a Marine said warily.

"Let's push on."

3rd Bn, 258th Marine Regiment, Lichavas

In his APC, GSgt. Paris felt very confident. Nothing would get through the armor of the Pac Rat. Well, he wouldn't be around to know if something did.

In a convoy with 20 other vehicles, Paris' vehicle was one of about 60 that had been brought in by the heavy lift birds. Through a periscope, he saw an MV-24 Peregrine come to a hover and then proceed to blast an apartment building with 30mm cannon rounds. Another X-20 Helicopter fired missiles at enemy gun positions and roadblocks.

As the APC rounded a corner and came to a public park, with a large clearing, he heard on his headset.

"We've got infantry advancing. They appear to be a reinforced battalion. 700m out."

"Dismount!"

Roughly 200 Marines poured out of the armored vehicles housing them and took up defensive positions in a grove of pine trees.

"Fire!"

The APCs and LAVs started opening up with their heavy cannons and machine guns, while the Marines advanced under the cover and tried to stem a counterattack. Paris dropped 2 Loyalists with his rifle and fired a grenade into a group of Loyalists huddled beneath some brush. All around him, he saw men firing blindly into the Marines. Most of the bullets, of course, didn't penetrate their armor and the Marines cut through the battalion like a scythe through wheat. The Marines got back into the vehicles and headed out.

They were still 3km from the hotel.

Fighters and attack helicopters finally attacked the eastern flank. All of the pilots knew that they must hold the position until the rebels link up with them. The battle was like before, except it was louder and more chaos. Screams can be heard all over the squadrons.

"Someone get the group of enemy down there near that structure!"

Capo looked at his watch, time for phase 2.

"Order the Artillery to begin to move their fire toward the city! Tell those two divisions to commence attack on the East."

He then went to a map, and pointed at a place in the West.

"Captain, inform Colonel Maximant Aiutante to attack here once we get our foot in the door in the East. Tell him there is no room for failure."

He then picked his binoculars back up and looked at the city. So far the uproar in the east was successfully distracting from his approaching attack in the West.

Mortimer's Breachers, In A Ditch Outside Proactio[B]

The special group of 20 soldiers waited for they go ahead. They had been formed out of professional soldiers who were tasked with taking a loyalist defensive position on the edge of Proactio as soon as the bombardment stopped. It was comprised of a bunker, a barn, and some trenches. It was also risky, but all of them understood it.

"Lt. Mortimer! Capo says go!"

"Let's do this! Breachers attack!"

The group ran swiftly across the small open area. The Piotos were still keeping their heads low, and not watching thier flank. When they got close enough, the rebels threw grenades into the bunkers and trenches. The loyalists forces didn't see it coming, and 8 were instantly killed. Others moaned in agony. Then a rifleman in the barn spotted the Mortimer's men.

As the barn rained down rain drops of hot lead, the rebels took cover in the trench. Even though they were being shot at, they were the first rebel troops inside Lichavas, and hopefully not the last.

[B] The Command Bunker

"Reinforce the Eastern front! NOW!" Avoptos screamed into the secure line.

"They are in the tunnel!"

"Remotely seal the exits! Shoot them through the murder holes!"

The forces gaurding Avoptos carried out his order. They placed thier AKs in holes big enough for a gun barrel to fit threw and opened fire on the invaders. Amid screams, they strafed back and forth and when they needed to reload, they looked threw the hole into the dark tunnel, to see if they could make out an enemy in the dim light.

The Battle Outside of the Hotel.

The Pioto forces kept coming in to attack the area. After reports of an ambush, they traveled through buildings and other rubble.

The battalion already attacking the Marines had had 30 die and 44 wounded when they brought up some grenade launchers to attack the buildings. Another squad retrieved a stash of 40 RPGs to be used if the time came. Then they began to fire the weapons on the Lost Hills positions.

After running 2 km, a Stinger missle squad of 12 reached the site. They looked skyward and began to target the enemy gunships in the area.

Major Douglas was 1.5 km from the battle and moving on the position with a company of soliders he found when he got word enemy APCs were moving up the road. The nearest Pioto armor was 6km away. He realized they were right between the armor and the hotel.

"Lay anti-armor mines across their path! Then take up defensive positions in those buildings! Quickly!"

The Envari Building, Polis, Cagamos

Picha Timore calmly walked up to the door of the Capitol building.

"Hello, might I help you?" said a very friendly gaurd.

"Yes, I am Robert Gulinsky here to apply for the job of ambassador to Lost Hills." Picha then showed the ID card of a man he killed three days ago.

After going inside to check the ID and call Thaddeus' secretary he came back.

"Mr. Il Percoso says he was wondering if you were alright. He is free now, please go on up.

Picha Timore was escorted by two armed gaurds upstairs. When the door opened to Thaddeus' office, Thaddeus turned around in his chair.

"You are not Robert!" He said almost as a question

"Righto" Picha responded. He then drew his pistol and shot the two gaurds. Thaddeus threw a punch, but Picha dodged it an pistol whipped the leader who then fell to the floor in pain.

As gaurds came running in, held up Thaddeus, still dizzy, between him and the gaurds and put his gun to the rebel leader's head.

"Give me your guns or he dies!"

Outside Picha's comrades had heard the shots and revealed their weapons. A group threw grenades in the police station, other groups stormed other governement offices, and two terrorists placed a bomb on Admiral Alazoviko's grave.

Apartment Building Overlooking the dockyards, Plutzoc

Fikan Scheletro pushed the button.

Explosions rocked the dockyards as 24 hidden bombs, placed before the fall, went off. Fikan then ran down stairs and outside in the direction of the yards with a group of firefighters and others going to help.

All around the city, some 330 die hard loyalists commited random acts of violence. Drive by shootings, some 15 suicide bombers, shooting rebels, and just beating people with baseball bats all took place. Others who hated the rebels soon joined them.

The Dockyards, Plutzoc

A firestorm consumed the dockyards, with 2 piers completely destroyed and 3 cargo vessels lost. 40 Pac Rats and 35 Amtracs were knocked out from the explosions, along with 148 Marines dead and a further 269 wounded. The number would have been higher if it hadn't been for the armor.

"Sir! We have reports of violence breaking out all over the city."

"A Loyalist counterattack?"

"Looks like general civil unrest."

"Lock down the area. Nothing in a six block radius gets in or out. Start leveling these buildings so we have LOS for our missiles and guns. I'm holding this damn dockyard if I have to tearbig threat to the vehicles. down the whole city."

2nd Bn, 258th Marine Regiment

By the tenth grenade, it was getting annoying. Even though the fragmentation wasn't a big deal due to the armor, the concussion knocked guns out of hands and blinded HUDs. Loyalists had killed a further 6 Marines, with 11 more injured.

"Alright. If they're launching grenades at us, we'll launch them right back! Fire grenades!"

Grenades started pouring out of launchers into the Loyalist ranks. As RPGs fell all around the building, a heavy weapons team fired AT-4 and Javelin missiles at enemy positions. Heavy machine guns set up in the upper windows provided covering fire. Three snipers on the roof picked off Loyalists one by one.

"Oh there's one. Looks like he's got a Stinger."

"I count three more in his group. Let's knock 'em out."

Firing high-powered rifle rounds, two of the snipers concentrated on the men with grenade launchers and RPGs.

The Command Bunker

Things weren't going so well. As soon as the gunfired erupted, all the men hit the deck. Unfortunately, the bullets ricocheting around an enclosed space like that killed 3 of his Marines. He saw a head poke out a hole in the wall. Raising his rifle, he flicked on the night vision of his HUD and cracked that head open like a watermelon.

"Keep pushing on. We're bound to reach the center at some point."

3rd Bn, 258th Marine Regiment

"What the hell are those guys doing?"

Seeing a group of Loyalists huddled in the street, Paris ordered the column to a stop. He clicked his headset to the convoy's comnet and said one word.

"Mines."

The anti-vehicle mines would pose a moderate threat to the vehicles. If you rolled over a mine in a Pac Rat, you probably would be fine. However, the LAVs were more lightly armored and were at risk for destruction.

He heard an order come over his headset.

"Attack formation delta."

2 Pac Rats quickly came to the head of the column and started firing heavy cannon shells into the ground, as the LAVs fired their 35mm cannons into the Loyalist infantry.

As explosions from the heavy mines rang around the Loyalist troops, the column advanced, stopping periodically to fire a TOW missile into the ground ahead to clear the mines. A LAV was knocked out by an unaffected mine.

They would reach the hotel very, very quickly. The battle would hopefully then turn for the better.

"No more messing around."

While two stilled raked fire across the tunnel, four others let some grenades go. The explosions were accompanied by some screams.

Back on the Surface

Major Douglas looked out from the window of the building he was in. A platoon of 40 men assigned to lay mines had been too slow, and were now all dead. Luckily the rest of his men had already laid the mines and had taken cover before the armor arrived.

Major Douglas knew that some of the mines would at least damage a tread. But, if they didn't. The enemy armor still had to get past his remaining 168 soldiers who were in cover. He had 2 infantry platoons nearly intact as well as his heavy weapons platoon. As his troops kept fire on the enemies, the heavy weapons fired their AT weapons at the armor.

Also, what if any, recommendations would you be able to provide on the quality and assurances of your work?

Duncan, alert your men in Intelligence, tell them we need everything they have on the developments over the last few weeks. Martin, get to the airfield and tell our pilot to be ready to leave by 1630 tomorrow."

Hello, it's Charles Martin again, sorry about the delay in responding but we had some trouble decoding your message, something was wrong with our machines. Anyway, the three million dollar price tag will get you 27 of the most highly trained fighters in the world. It will also get you access to just about anything your military would need, from weapons to more men, we can get anything through any blockade guaranteed. We will also provide tactical advisement strategies and things of that nature should you require it. As for references, my group was the initial reactionary force sent by Beta Aurigae to Weyr during their border dispute with Gramal. We have also provided security for various politicians and other important people both in and our of Beta Aurigae VII. As a group we are not well known but the training and experience we have recieved through our respective military careers should speak for itself. We are prepared to arrive at a location designated by you at 2200 hours tomorrow.

Downtown Lichavas

Loyalist General Avoptos looked at the TV screen. Lichavas was in ruins, the loyalists forces were borken, and the rebels were entering downtown. The only high point had successfully holding out against a small Lost Hills force.

"We are a lost cause, our leader cares not for us, the rebel scum have murdered our civilized state.... I will have my vengence, against the rebels who tore my from my nation and Secrina for not saving me from them..."

He then turned to a major who was on the phone next to him.

"I hand over command of the city of Lichavas to you. Do as you please." He then walked to his quarters.

"What sir!?"

"You are the boss, I'd surrender if I were you."

A stunned face was the only reply given.

Once in his quarters, the general changed into civilian clothes and picked up his secure laptop. He then sent a scrambled message that only the Omicron Solutions soldiers could read:

Lichavas has fallen. If you want to avoid jumping on this sinking ship and save face, listen to my offer:

I am a very wealthy and successful soldier whose nation has left him for dead, and I want vengence against the dictator of Secrina, and by vengence, I mean death. I am no longer a citizen of any country, and want to leave before the rebels get me. I want to work for you, as well as but my vast wealth at your disposal. If you don't want another employee, I will still pay 5 million for the job. Get my off this island and I will throw in another 2 million. Answer on this secure lap top, as only it can decipher the transmition.

General Capo's Command

"Sir, recieving a message from the loyalist high command." After a few seconds of printing, the tech smiled and handed it to his general.

Capo read it aloud. "General Capo, the city of Lichavas surrenders. Come yourself or send an aide to the city hall...'

"Tell all forces in Lichavas to stand down, tell our allies too!"

He then took an assault rifle from a nearby private and shot a whole clip skyward while yelling in jubilation.

Southern Seas of Lichavas, NFS Leviathan:

"Sir. We have a message from General Capo of the rebels."

"Let me see it..."

Admiral Stanley's face suddenly filled with excitement.

"Quick! Tell all our forces to cease fire and stand down! Now!"

"Yes, sir!"

Admiral was reading the messagse again to make sure he had read it right. Then he whispered...."Finally, the City of Lichavas surrenders."

----------------------------------------

Over Downtown Lichavas, Spartanox Squadrons:

"This is Mission Command. All Spartanox forces cease fire. The enemy rebels had surrendered...I repeat the enemy rebels had surrendered. Operation Alazoviko is successful. The City of Lichavas is now under allied control."

"Copy that Mission Command. Phoenix Squadron cease fire....You heard that boys?! We won!!"

"Hell yeah I did. Ha! We won!"

Cheering can be heard all over the Spartanox squadrons and all over the fleet. The City of Lichavas Battle was finally over. However, there are losses on the Spartanox side. A total of 110 air units was lost, including the helicopters. The rest of the force are now heading towards the main fleet while some are still above Lichavas.

Martin recieved the reply within 6 hours of his original response. And he was completely happy with the answer.

"This makes things much easier," he muttered to himself. Even he could see the hopelesness of defending the Loyalists now. So he set to work typing a response more to his liking.

We have considered your offer to join us and have come to the conclusion that we both could benefit emmensely from each other's services. We will come and retrieve you from Secrina, and there will be no fee required because we never charge members of our team a dime for anything. If there is any way that you could leave your current position and get to the coast on the eastern side of the Aopsa Mountains we could easily extract you without detection. However, if it isn't possible to move from your location please transmit where you are and also include as much information about the surrounding area so we can make a silent extraction from inside the city. We look forward to seeing you very soon.

That should do it, thought Martin as he sent the message and reached over and pressed the emergency alarm on the wall, brining the compound to alert status. No all they could do was wait.
