United States Senate Approves Expansion Plans

Lincoln: The United States Senate, the upper house of the HSC Legislative branch, has approved Bill 187 with a total of 233-67 and has authorised the movement of the Bill to be signed by the Office of the President.

The Bill, entitled 'Expansion Legalisation and Authorisation' officially brings the Human Space Colonies out of its self-imposed isolation, brought about fifty years ago at the start of the Colonial Civil War that saw the cities of Churchill IV rise up in rebellion against the Federal Government. Bill 187 approves the authorisation of expeditions to colonise further worlds and expand the United States through the known Universe. The Bill passed almost with competition through Congress, the lower house, at 297-3.

Speaking enthusiastically for the Bill, Senator Harry Redfield (Lib) declared this "a great day for the United States."

"With the approval of this Bill," the Senator declared. "We will be able to begin our once planned expansion of colonies through nearby systems and areas, in benefit to the Human Space Colonies economically, militarily and politically."

However, Congresswoman Martha O'Donald, one of the few Congressional members who opposed the Bill, dismissed it as unneccesary. "This is merely another example of the residing administration's attempts to justify an imperialist expansion across the galaxy in the future," the member of the Communist Party declared to GNN correspondants. "Mark my words, this will end in disaster."

The President is expected to decide on the Bill later this week, although it is doubtful, according to sources, that it will end in a veto, considering that President Pierce is a member of the Party that proposed this Bill.

Department for Foreign Affairs condemns Sandeyan Imperial Aggression

The Department for Foreign Affairs today released a condemnation of the Sandeyan Empire for its unprovoked actions against the Myztar City-States.

The Sandeyan Empire today bombed three City-States in the Myztarian Mountains, resulting in the 'voluntary' secession of several other Myztarite cities.

Charles Samuelson, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, released a statement that condemned "this act of aggression by those whose aims in this war could be described as cruel and imperialistic."

Government Deploys Colonisation Fleet to Emerald System

Lincoln City: The United States Government today announced that it had identified a habitable 'M' Class planet in a nearby system, named by its discovering archaeologist as the Emerald System.

The system, identified several months ago as a possible colonisation project, had been undergoing several long range scans to ascertain the habitability of the system for the purpose of agricultural development. Today, the United States Space Force Command Division for Scientific Research announced that it had passed the tests and the second planet in the system would undergo colonialisation.

The USSFCDSR announced that it was deploying 3 Shelley Class Transport Starships, escorted by two Defender Class Frigates, to carry 5,000 Colonists, stores of supplies and pre-fabricated agricultural equipment to speed the development of what has been designated Emerald Colony. It is predicted that, once the Colony is operational in roughly 3 NS Years (3 RL Weeks) it will provide an extra fifty percent of food and agricultural based products to the Churchill system, helping to avoid overpopulation issues as the United States expands.
