Parent Shipyards and Satellite Shipyards
The main Imperial Praetonian Shipyards' complex is located in Praefele, the second largest city in Praetonia and base of the Imperial Praetonian Home and Grand Expeditionary Fleets. This complex employs more than 1,000,000 people in the city of Praefele and the surrounding area, contributes 3.2% of the nation's GDP and supports the vast majority of the Praefelian dockland economy.
The second largest Imperial Praetonian Shipyards facility is located in Neo-Praetonia. The complex there contributes roughly 5% of the colonial economy, and employs 650,000 people. This complex has drydock capacity for the construction of three superdreadnaughts and hundreds of smaller warships.
Subsidiary shipyards are located in the KLM, employing large numbers of both local people and Praetonian engineers, specialists and managerial staff. Other facilities which produce components for Imperial Praetonian Shipyards and its subsidiaries are located throughout Praetonia, Neo-Praetonia and Segmentum Praetonialis, including a radar factory in Praeton istelf.

IAD-12 'Lance' (Flight III) ASM
Overview
The latest in a long line of missiles that can trace their lineage to the birth of the Imperial Praetonian Shipyards company itself, the Lance Flight III is one of the most advanced anti-shipping missiles available today, capable of engaging both escorts and capital ships in groups ranging from individual missiles all the way up to swarms consisting of several thousand missiles. The missile is the lynchpin of the Imperial Praetonian Navy's missile and air anti-shipping capabilities, available in both surface-launched and air-launched variants.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/LanceSurface-launched2.png
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/LanceAir-launched3.png
Propulsion
The surface-launch (base) variant consists of a single Imperial Aerodynamics solid rocket booster which provides the initial thrust required to lift the lift the missile clear of its VLS cell and accelerate it to supercruise velocity, and a single liquid-fuelled Imperial Aerodynamics RAMjet which powers the missile for the majority of its journey towards the target, taking advantage of a RAMjet's exceptional fuel efficiency at supersonic velocities. Once the solid rocket motor has expended all of its fuel it drops away and the RAMjet takes over automatically and maintains a steady speed at its optimal operating velocity until the terminal phase, at which point all remaining fuel is rapidly injected into the combustion chamber, sending the missile hurtling towards its target with substantially more kinetic energy.
Guidance
The 'Lance' is equipped with a wide array of means of guiding itself to its target, which are used sequentially depending upon the situation. Initially the missile is guided by a GPS location constantly updated from the launching ship (and other 'Lance' missiles, if updates from the launching ship are not available), until it enters its terminal phase. At this point, passive RADAR is used as the primary means of finding a target, alongside active RADAR if the enemy is reasonably assumed to have already detected them.
In the event of jamming, the missile will fall back on its IR imagers, which can be used to provide near-perfect passive terminal guidance. The missile's LIDAR system provides a periphery high-resolution targetting capability, allowing the missile in some instances to locate and engage key systems aboard a ship. Should the missile experience a catastrophic systems failure, it will fall back on its last updated GPS co-ordinate for the target, or its last sensor reading, whichever is more recent and reliable.
Protection
Considering the immense popularity of anti-missile systems in modern navies, a great deal of thought was given to finding ways to mitigate the potential for missiles to be lost to enemy fire before they can engage their targets. To that end, space has been allocated inside the warhead of each missile for RADAR jammers, and 'Lances' in Praetonian service are equipped with RADAR jammers in a ratio of 1 to every 9 missiles not so equipped. The power of the jamming, therefore, scales linearly with the number of missiles fired and hence the likely power of the enemy's radar systems.
In addition to electronic countermeasures, the missiles themselves are highly manoeuverable, with the RAMjets equipped with 3D thrust-vectoring for terminal manoeuvers, as well as regular control planes. 'Lance' missiles are, therefore, highly manoeuverable and capable of dodging the fire of CIWS guns and attacks by anti-missile missiles at a considerably higher rate than other missile systems. 'Lance' missiles can also use their attack profile to frustrate the efforts of enemy anti-missile defences, for example by adopting a 'lo-lo' profile to sneak in under the enemy's RADAR, drastically reducing their response time. The 'Lance's' wide array of sensors (including passive sensors) ensure that it is almost impossible to successfully spoof or jam.
The most powerful and subtle method by which the 'Lance' missile ensures it survives to engage its target is the so-called 'GroupThink' system developed by Imperial Electric to whereby 'Lance' missiles co-ordinate their attacks with each other. The system uses the combined processing power of each missile to allocate a suitable number of missiles to attack active sensors, use their jamming systems and, where possible, attack specific parts of ships such as their guns, or anti-missile systems. Missiles also share sensor information and allocate small groups to adopt a 'hi-lo' profile where the general profile is 'lol-lo' to relay information back to the rest of the group.
Warhead
Once a 'Lance' missile has successfully engaged a target, the less sophisticated brute-force warhead takes over. Capped with a heavy tungsten ballistic cap and moving at mach ~3.2, the missile will immediately transfer a great deal of kinetic energy to its target.
If this is sufficient to penetrate a ship's armour (in which case the impact itself is likely to have caused considerable damage), the delayed crush fuze will give the warhead enough time to enter the enemy ship before exploding, causing severe damage. The tungsten cap will either keep going, causing even more damage to the vessel, or be caught in the explosion and form shrapnel, again causing yet more damage.
Even if, however, the missile's kinetic energy is not sufficient to penetrate the enemy vessel's armour (as may well be the case when engaging enemy capital ships) the kinetic energy of the impact is likely to create a sizeable dent in the enemy's armour. The warhead will then continue, as normal, into this dent and explode, an event which is likely to cause moderate-severe damage to the armour of even the toughest enemy vessels, and perhaps even causing minor-moderate damage behind the armour as a result of spalling.

Larger image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/RoyalSovereignClass.png)
Overview
The Royal Sovereign Class is the first Praetonian superdreadnought sized vessel to be constructed for some years since the conclusion of the Centurion Class construction project. Ostensibly intended as a test-bed for the new 27.5" naval artillery piece produced by Imperial Ordnance, the weapon was accepted into Praetonian service before the first vessel was commissioned and the class is expected to take a prominent role in the Imperial Praetonian Navy's heavy-hitting super-dreadnought arsenal. Armed with sixteen 27.5"/84 ETC Naval Rifles, the vessel is a dangerous opponent for any similarly sized vessel. The ship is also very heavily armoured for its size, and can take a considerable amount of punishment.
The vessel is a good, solid gun platform able to endure heavy storms, and is capable of carrying a large amount of supplies and general stores to support other operations. Armed with strategic-length missile tubes, the vessel can deploy strategic nuclear munitions, or engage 'god-rod' carrying satellites. Supporting a heavy secondary battery - a new innovation for Praetonian capital warships - and a hefty missile battery, the vessel is capable of filling a variety of roles, from land-attack, general anti-ship combat, air- and missile-defence to its primarily intended role - combating other super-dreadnoughts in gunnery duels.

Sovereign Class DN (Flight II)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/SovereignClassBCN.png
Overview
Designed as the heavily armed and armoured punch of a Praetonian battlefleet as well as a vessel able to operate in packs at the centre of large battlefleets including the Grand Fleet itself, the Sovereign Class is the most powerful non-superdreadnought design in Praetonian service. The vessel is fast enough to keep up with a battlefleet, and is capable of most taking and dishing out a great deal of firepower at a price affordable for widespread deployment. Recently classified a 'Dreadnought' as opposed to a 'Battleship', the Sovereign sits towards the lower end of super-capitals.
Armament
The vessel's formidable gun armament consists of sixteen 20" IS-ETC rifles mounted in four quad turrets, two to the fore and two to the aft of the ship. Each gun is equipped with an electromagnetic rifling system allowing for an overall increased muzzle velocity and therefore range which can also be used as a direct electromagnetic acceleration assist, if required. In addition to its primary gun armament, the vessel is armed with a number of smaller 6" guns in dual turrets along the ouriggers and a considerable complement of missiles via the Ballista VLS, including SSMs, SAMs, LAMs and ASROCs. The vessel is also armed with four sets of 4 torpedo tubes in armoured mounts about the ship, and the dreadnought is capable of maintaining and deploying up to four helicopters or VTOL planes for ASW or AShW work.
Protection
The Sovereign Class is the most heavily armoured non-superdreadnought in the Praetonian navy, and its thick belt, deck, turret and superstructure armour is complemented by void spaces filled by flame retardant foam, additional magazine and reactor plating and advanced fire control systems. As with all Praetonian ships, the bridge, reactors and magazines are all below decks (aside from VLS) protecting them from all by heavy plunging fire. The vessel is designed to offer protection against anything up to its own main gun calibre. In addition to passive defences, the vessel is protected by CIWS guns and, more prominently, the Wellington AMMS which is beginning the supplant gun-based systems in Praetonian service.

Duke Class BCN
Overview
In addition to heavier elements designed to operate as part of major battlegroups and deployments, the Imperial Praetonian Navy has shown considerable interest in the ideal of a "Battlecruiser" or more accurately, a "Pocket Battleship" to operate as the flagships of small, fast squadrons that can spread across the world's oceans and provide a rapid response capability almost anywhere in the world. As such, the Monarch Class is very heavily armed for a vessel intended for escort and patrol, and is also capable of carrying relatively large numbers of Naval Infantry or marines. The vessel is a sleek trimaran with powerful engines, allowing it to reach a very high maximum speed for its size and type. It is the fastest battleship in Praetonian service and one of the fastest available today.
Armament
The vessel's primary armament is it's heavy gun armament, consisting of nine 14" IS-ETC naval guns mounted in three triple turrets, two fore and one aft. The turrets are rotated by powerful electric motors and can train very quickly, and advanced mechanised loading systems allow the Monarch Class to fire a total of 45 rounds per minute with all nine of her guns brought to bear. The vessel's secondary armament consists of Ballista VLS emplacements, of which 8 are provided, all housing 48 missiles for a total of 384 missiles - SSMs, SAMs, LAMs and 'ASROC' types - carried. The vessel is also armed with six torpedo tubes mounted fore and aft for anti-submarine warfare and close range anti-surface warfare, and can carry up to four helicopters for the same purpose.
Protection
As a Battlecruiser, the Monarch Class is provided with substantial protection against enemy gunfire of up to its own main gun calibre, featuring a heavy armoured belt, deck plating, turret and superstructure armour, as well as heavy additional protection over magazines and the reactor compartments. The vessel can shrug off most regular anti-ship missiles without sustaining major damage. In addition to passive protection, the vessel is armed with a smattering of CIWS guns, which are being phased out in favour of the Wellington AMMS system, of which the Monarch Class has several.

Carriers
County Class CVN
Overview
The workhorse of the new Praetonian carrier fleet, the County Class CVN is designed to be able to transport, safely, and launch 110 carrier planes and defend itself from enemy fire during a battle. To that end it is more heavily armoured than most carriers. Its trimaran design gives it a significant advantage in terms of deck area as well as in terms of speed and protection. The vessel is capable of keeping up with a fleet at cruising speed and can be loaded either with helicopters or with fixed-wing aircraft.
Armament
The vessel's primary armament is its planes, of which there are 110 in normal conditions and 95 when on light duties, although the carrier can accomodate up to 125 planes in emergency wartime conditions. The carrier features significant facilities for storing these planes, ammunitons and fuel as well as maintaining them, mostly below the waterline. The planes are carried up to the flight deck by four powerful lifts, allowing the carrier to launch a steady stream of planes even with none on deck, and launches its planes via a number of powerful EM rams. The vessel is equipped with arrestor wires for planes to land, as well as advanced radar direction systems to guide planes in even in zero-visibility conditions. In addition to its plane armament, the carrier is armed with two 6" guns in a single turret capable of firing across decks, although this is primarily intended to defend the vessel from littoral threats rather than engage in offensive activity.
Protection
As a capital ship, the County is well armoured like many other Praetonian vessels. It has a relatively low profile as well as strong belt, deck and superstructure armour. The deck armour is especially thick, and is constructed in blocks so that a damaged runway can be repaired and brought back into action during the course of a battle. The bridge and reactors as well as aviation fuel and munitions are stored below the waterline, safe from most enemy fire. In addition to passive protection, the vessel is defended by a number of CIWS guns and Wellington AMMS launchers.

Pheasant Class CVLN
Overview
A requirement from the Imperial Praetonian Navy for a small carrier suitable for convoy escort coincided with a commission for a successor to the Swiftsure-class light carrier from Southeast Asia. The resulting Pheasant Class carrier is capable of deploying 42 aircraft, including CTOL fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. The trimaran hullform provides good protection against torpedo and missile attack, whilst signficantly increasing flight deck space and speed. The carrier is ideal to form the core of a small navy, or to be deployed carrying out tasks in a low-intensity conflict, or convoy escort.
Armament and Protection
In addition to its complement of 42 aircraft (usually 36 strike aircraft / fighters and 6 helicopters), the carrier is armed with a 64-cell Ballista VLS battery, capable of carrying SAMs, SSMs, cruise missiles and missile-deployed torpedoes. In Praetonian service, this is usually given over to SAMs for air defence, although it is not unknown for some cells to be given over to light SSMs for littoral defence. For protection against missiles and other ordnance, the vessel is equipped with 6 Wellington Mk II combined gun and missile CIWS systems, for a total of twelve 45mm autocannons and 192 close-range Wellington anti-missile missiles (AMMs). Dragoon Class CAN
Overview
The Dragoon Class CAN is a vessel of intermediate size designed to head up small task forces and add a powerful gun and missile armament to any larger battlegroup or fleet. The vessel can act either as a capital ship in its own right or an escort equally well depending on the situation and is equipped with the requisite command and control facilities. The vessel, like other IPS-built warships, is nuclear powered enabling it to use systems with a high power requirement and maintain an extremely high cruising speed, which is amplified by its sleek, fast trimaran hullform.
Armament
The vessel's gun armament consists of six rapid-fire 11" IS-ETC naval guns mounted in dual turrets for and aft. This armament allows the vessel to engage other vessels at close to medium range, and to bombard shore targets very accurately and at a considerable distance. The guns can attain a rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute per gun, or 36 rounds per minute for the whole ship. The vessel is also equipped with torpedo tubes and helicopters for ASW, as well as five 64 cell Ballista VLS emplacements and five 32 cell Ballista VLS emplacements for a total of 480 missiles which can be brought to bear against aerial, surface and sub-surface threats.
Protection
In addition to a powerful armament, the vessel is also equipped with substantial protection from enemy gunnery and missile fire. Featuring a heavy armoured belt, as well as considerable protection over the turrets, magazines and reactor compartments, the vessel has considerable resistance to shells up to 14" in diameter. Her armour is of high-strength steel alloys backed with a spectra spalling layer mounted on a titanium frame. Void spaces filled with fire-resistant foam protect the magazines and reactors. In addition to passive protection, the vessel is equipped with six Wellington AMMS launchers, providing it with a total of 192 small Wellington anti-missile missiles. This in addition to six Testudo CIWS systems afford the vessel a considerable degree of active protection.

Praefele Class DDN (Flight II)
Overview
The Praefele Class destroyer is designed to provide a fleet with a high-quality platform that can be used to counter aerial and subsurface threats, as well as presenting a highly dangerous threat to an enemy surface fleet itself. The Praefele is designed to be able to work well in a large fleet of thousands of ships as an escort, or to fly the flag abroad on its own or in small groups of other destroyers with cruise missiles. The ship is powered by a nuclear reactor, enabling it to stay at sea for as long as its supplies will allow it, and removing all of the logistical complexities of needing to refuel large numbers of ships at sea during prolonged engagements, wars and blockades. The vessel is designed to face practically any threat in existance and aquit itself well, even in the face of whithering enemy fire.
Armament
The vessel is primarily armed with two 64 cell Ballista VLS emplacements, one for and one aft. Each loaded with a single missile, these give the vessel striking power against aerial threats through the use of SAMs, surface targets through the use of SSMs, sub-surface targets through the use of 'ASROC' style missile-launched torpedos and ground-based threats through the use of land attack missiles. The vessel generally has a helicopter that can counter a variety of threats. In addition to this powerful missile armament, the Praefele is equipped with a number of torpedo launchers which enable it to engage enemy warships at close range, as well as submarines attempting to slip past the vessel, or attack it directly. The vessel is armed also with two powerful 6" IS-ETC naval guns mounted for in a single turret, giving the vessel excellent scope for attacking land-based targets in support of ground troops.
Protection
In order to protect itself from enemy fire, the vessel is made of a strong titanium superstructure, layed with ballistic ceramics and high-quality steel over its entire structure although the armour is strongest over areas where missiles are more likely to hit. This, in addition to the trimaran structure of the vessel, give it excellent survivability and almost perfect resistance to SSMs like the Harpoon and the Exocet. In addition to passive protection, the vessel is armed with two AMMS (Anti-Missile Missile Systems) which each carry 32 modified 'Comet' missiles each and which are designed to engage and intercept enemy missile and close-in aircraft threats automatically. The vessel is finally equipped with two dual 40mm autocannon-armed CIWS mounts, which are also designed to intercept missiles and low-flying aircraft.

Minister Class FFN
Overview
Designed to act as a picket ship and general purpose escort, the Minister Class FFN is designed in two variants. Firstly, the 'N' variant, equipped with a nuclear engine to allow it to keep up with a fleet of IPS warships on the same fuel, and secondly a '-' version equipped with a COGAG turbine engine, designed for convoy escorts and other less important non-battlefleet work. The vessel is primarily oriented towards protecting itself and other ships at the expense of heavy anti-surface armaments.
Armament
The vessel is armed with a medium 6" IS-ETC naval cannon and two single 30mm ETC naval autocannon which provide the vessel with a powerful surface punch against nearby targets such as pirate ships, raiders and merchant vessels. Primarily, however, the vessel is armed with a single 64 cell Ballista VLS emplacement designed to house primarily SAMs and 'ASROC' style weapons, although it can just as easily mount SSMs and land attack weapons. In addition to this, the vessel is equipped with a helicopter for ASW and limited ASuW and torpedo tubes for ASW and close range ASuW.
Protection
The vessel is protected primarily by a heavy layer of spectra fibre which provides immunity to small arms fire and machineguns and strong resistance to light cannon. In addition to this armour / anti-spalling layer, the vessel's steel alloy structure also affords substantial protection against light anti-shipping missiles and notable resistance against heavier weapons. The vessel is also equipped with two Wellington AMMS mounts for active defence of itself and nearby ships, as well as a Testudo CGRCIWS for close-in defence against enemy fire.

Port Class FS
Overview
The Port Class Corvette is primarily intended to guard ports and waterways against unauthorised civilian traffic and piracy. To that end it has a conventional yet powerful COGAG turbine engine driving a waterjet for high manoeuverability. The vessel can run rings around almost any civilian vessel and is therefore highly suited to its coast-guard role. In wartime, the vessel can also be used in littoral warfare against an enemy fleet or invasion force. The vessel is also designed to be able to carry a complement of 32 marines as standard and 64 at a pinch in order to board other vessels.
Armament
The vessel is primarily armed with the a 4.5" naval cannon, which can attain a rate of fire of up to 30rpm, although it is usually fired at a lower rate or in bursts to conserve ammunition. This weapon was chosen over an ETC as it is designed to engage lightly or unarmoured targets and disable rather than destroy then. The gun is relatively long ranged and extremely powerful against merchant vessels. In addition to this, the vessel is armed with an 8 cell Ballista VLS mounted on a slant in the forecastle. This is capable of firing SAMs, SSMs, 'ASROC' style weapons and land attack missiles, although primarily it is loaded with SSMs. The vessel is also equipped with two torpedo tubes which can be used against submarines and surface vessels and a a flat flight deck to which a helicopter can be lashed.
Protection
The Port Class is armoured with spectra fibre which makes the vessel practically immune to small arms, and highly resistant to RPGs and other such hand-held weapons which may be used against the vessel by pirates and other civilian vessels. The ship's steel alloy frame adds to its resistance against fire, and is therefore somewhat resistant even against light SSMs and other such weapons primarily designed to be used against surface ships.

Brownwater Combatants
Terror Class HMN
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/TerrorClassMonitor2.png
Overview
Commissioned by the War Office to provide a powerful defensive presence on Praetonian rivers, the Terror Class Heavy Monitor is one of the most powerful craft ever to be deployed in the riverine theatre. Powerfully armed and armoured, the vessel is not only capable of engaging and destroying anything likely to be encountered on the rivers, but also effectively denying a huge radius of land to an enemy ground army using its 15" guns. The most powerful self-propelled artillery any land army is likely to have at its disposal, the Terror Class is a mighty asset on the defensive or offensive near waterways.
Armament
The primary armament of the vessel are her 15" ETC guns which are arranged four for, two aft in three dual turrets. The weapons are capable of delivering a deadly blow to any target on land or sea out to a theoretical maximum of 100km, although for the sake of accuracy targets are usually engaged at a maximum of around 50km. Her primary gun armament is backed by 14 high-velocity 140mm ETC guns capable of knocking out any armoured vehicle and bombarding other targets at a considerable distance, ensuring that an intact Terror Class vessel cannot be outclassed even at very close range. In addition to large calibre armament, the vessel is also equipped with crew-served 7.7mm chainguns to counter a direct infantry assault on the vessel.
Protection
Sitting low in the water, the monitor has built-in protection from its design. In addition to this, it is heavily armoured to protect itself from enemy fire especially over the gun turrets and decks, to prevent plunging fire. Magazines and reactors are protected by void spaces filled with fire-retardant foam. With a nuclear reactor, the vessel does not need to put into port for months at a time, which provides a great deal of protection against attempts to cut off supplies on narrow waterways. The vessel is also equipped with CIWS and AMS active protection systems which are retractable to protect them from general fire from land-based threats.

Submarines
Tower Class SSBN (Flight II)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/TowerClassSSBN.png
Overview
The Tower Class SSBN Flight II Variant builds upon the strength of the existing design and adds new and improved stealth and payload features, allowing the vessel to continue its long and distinguished career as the bearer of the ultimate lines of defence of several nations, including Praetonia. The vessel is designed to be able to avoid detection at any costs and remain fast enough to make an escape if detected. The submarine has a reinforced bow for icebreaking, and it is designed to be able to sit under ice-sheaths and then surface to fire its missiles without incurring damage to the sub. The new Tower Class should definately continue its predecessor's long and successful but thankfully unneeded service run.
Armament
The vessel's primary armament is its payload of 32 SLBMs which are carried in 32 large Bulldog VLS emplacements which extend to most of the depths of the vessel. Each of these emplacements is capable of carrying a single SLBM sized missile, or 4 seperate Ballista-lengthed missiles. In addition to its primary armament, the submarine is equipped with a tactical armament designed to allow it to fight its way out of a difficult situation. A 16 cell Ballista VLS is mounted for of the tower for launching SSMs and SAMs. Four 25" torpedo tubes are mounted in the nose and two in the stern for engaging other submarines or incoming torpedos from any angle. These are also capable of launching missiles, although this is generally not necessary.
Protection
The primary mode of protection for the sub is its lack of detectability. Its powerful triple hulled form is constructed of reinforced amorphous steel and titanium, giving it an almost non-existant magnetic signature and on top of that an extremely deep crush depth, allowing it to dive beneath the ability of enemy sonar to detect it. In addition to this powerful armour and advanced stealth, the vessel is equipped with a series of retractable super-cavitating cannon which are designed to engage incoming weapons before they can strike the hull and damage the vessel itself. These can also engage enemy vessels at close range, although this is somewhat unlikely to happen.

Vanguard Class SSN (Flight II)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/VanguardClassSSN.png
Overview
The Flight II Vanguard Class SSN is a significant upgrade on an already powerful design capable of providing an extremely powerful general purpose punch. The vessel is propelled by an extremely quiet waterjet connected to a nuclear reactor. The reactor allows the vessels to remain at sea for extremely long periods without refuel. A Combined Gas And Diesel turbine is also provided as a backup powersource in the event that the nuclear plant is taken offline or has to be shut down.
Armament
The vessel is equipped with large calibre torpedo tubes capable of firing torpedos powerful enough to damage even the largest of vessels, as well as deploying mines and Unmanned Submersible Vehicles (USVs). The torpedo tubes are primarily intended to be used in the anti-submarine role. The second main armament of the Vanguard is a large 64 cell VLS system running down the length of the submarine which provides the vessel's primary anti-shipping and cruise missile armament. These allow the vessel to strike the enemy navy from beyond the range of quick response, and also to launch cruise missiles. All weapons launched from the VLS tubes can be fired beneath the surface, allowing the vessel to avoid direct detection whilst firing ordnance and then quickly leave the scene.
Protection
The vessel is constructed from amorphorous steel, which is both a very strong material and excellent for submarine construction, being completely non-magnetic. The vessel's strong double-hull allows it to reach previously untouchable depths, providing it with a significant advantage when evading enemy detection and enemy anti-submarine fire. The vessel is also equipped with two CIWS units for protection against missile threats whilst surfaced and is equipped with a powerful electronics suite, including radar, IR and visual sensors digitally linked to the submarine and mounted on a periscope which can feed information to both the crew and weapons systems without the submarine having to surface.

Lupus Class SSKN
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/LupusClassSSKN.png
Overview
With the disadvantages of diesel-powered patrol submarines in mind, the Incorporated Sarzonian and Imperial Praetonia Navies have been searching for ways to mitigate the need to bring their SSKs to snorkel depth, putting these otherwise difficult-to-detect boats in vulnerable positions where they can be attacked by surface threats they are designed to eliminate. Engineers from the Imperial Praetonian Shipyards contacted their counterparts at the Portland Iron Works and both companies realised they had similar thoughts with respect to the creation of a nuclear powered patrol submarine to give both navies patrol boats that could remain submerged for months at a time while providing them effective anti-ship capacity. After comparing designs and discovering the similarites in design requirements, the two companies commissioned yet another in their long tradition of joint projects, the Lobo/Lupus class SSKN, named for the Spanish and Latin words for wolf respectively.
Armament
With different armament schemes, from Sarzonia's 1,000 mm Broadsword ultralarge torpedo through Praetonia's standard 635 mm torpedo in mind, engineers chose to create a semi-modular construction that would allow either the use of two 1,000 mm torpedo tubes to carry Broadsword torpedoes or four 635 mm torpedo tubes for the Praetonian variant. If the Lupus is equipped with Broadsword torpedoes, it can carry 12 of these for use against very heavy surface targets or submerged threats. If rigged for the 635 mm Praetonian torpedo, the Lupus can carry up to 20, while it can carry 18 of the 650 mm Bayonet torpedo in Sarzonian service. If the Lupus is equipped with 533 mm SarzTorps, it can carry up to 24.
Protection
While submarines are not generally equipped to survive torpedo attacks from other submarines, modern submarines have been equipped with double- or treble-hulls to promote greater survivability against likely threats. Considering the mission profile of the Lobo/Lupus, a treble hulled construction was ruled out for being prohibitively expensive. In its place is the construction of two separate hulls, an outer hull made of hardened amorphous steel, which is both non-magnetic and up to three times stronger than standard steel roughly two inches thick, while the inner hull is made of a tough composite armour of titanium/vanadium/aluminum roughly 1 1/2 inches thick. The two hulls are separated by absorbant foam. The outer hull is coated with anaechoic tiles to reduce noise emissions and make the Lupus even harder to detect.

Cuirassier Class SSK
Overview
In addition to a powerful fleet of SSNs necessary for long range patrols, offensive operations, escorting fleets and carrying out cruise missile attacks on foreign powers, the Admiralty decided that a fleet of modern conventionally powered submarines able to run off battery power for a period of time would be a useful asset for the Imperial Navy. To that end, the Cuirassier Class was commissioned to Admiralty Specification 7.803 and is expected to prove useful in littoral and shallow water combat, as well as for silently deploying small teams of marines abroad.
Armament
The vessel is primarily equipped with eight heavy 25" torpedo tubes mounted forward. These provide a powerful anti-surface and anti-submarine punch and, in combination with the near undetectability on passive sonar of the Cuirassier Class, present a significant threat to any surface or sub-surface enemy. The tubes are capable of dispensing torpedos, missiles, mines and other stores. In addition to its torpedo armament, the Cuirassier Class is armed with an 8 cell Ballista VLS launcher in the tower, which can be equipped with sub-launched Javelin (Flight II) SAMs for destroying aerial threats, but these can also be loaded with SSMs and land attack missiles.
Protection
Although it is impossible to truely 'armour' a submarine, the Cuirassier is nonetheless extremely well protected. Anechoic tiles cover its outer hull, greatly reducing noise emissions which are already extremely low. The submarine can also, unlike a nuclear submarine, shut down its engines and run solely off of battery power, reducing its noise emissions to practically nothing. The vessel is double hulled, with both hulls constructed from amorphous steel - a non-magnetic and very strong material - resulting in an impressive crush depth.

Due to the number of islands around Krendakov, it has been decided that it would be much cheaper and more efficiant to use a naval patrol in order to defend the area than an airial patrol. To this end the government of Krendakov has decided that it requires a capable CODAG ship to fulfill a patrol role in the Krendian Navy. We would like to purchase one-hundread (100) of Imperial Praetonian Shipyards' (IPS') Minister Class FF- (CODAG variant). We will wire the required money (US$75,000,000,000) to you as soon as our order is confirmed.

SUBJECT: Purchase and Testing
Greetings,
The Southeast Asian Army has been looking forward to replacing our aging sniper rifles, designed in the United States of America. After reading the article detailing the L-77 Sniper Rifle's features and structure, it seems to be impressive - but we have to see it for ourselves first. So on the behalf of my nation, I request for ten units of the L-77 Sniper Rifle. The cost of 55,000 USD shall be wired upon the confirmation of the order.
Yours Truly,
His Excellency,
Minister of Defense
United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia
Paul David Nettleton
The vessel's primary armament is it's heavy gun armament, consisting of nine 14" IS-ETC naval guns mounted in three triple turrets, one fore and one aft.
So wait... one fore + one aft = three turrets? Just noticed this.
Otherwise, looks good. I'll probably come back to purchase something after I finish my current war, because it's becoming really obvious that I need a navy. Yeah, never would have thought of that, would you? ;)
So basically, kind of a [tag].

Re: An Inquiry
Greetings to our friends at Imperial Praetonian Shipyards! The engineering mastery of the shipwrighters at IPS is highly revered and respected here at Consolidated Arms, and I am grateful to be communicating with the head of one of the world's most powerful defense corporations.
I am writing to you to inquire about the legal matters surrounding the Halberdgardian government's ownership of the third-generation IPS vessels that currently make up much of its Navy. You see, as there has been much talk over what to do with these vessels after the recently-purchased vessels replace them, I am interested in acquiring some of these vessels for the purpose of research. Up until now, Consolidated Arms has solely released aircraft, but what with our acquisition of naval shipbuilding facilities and small-arms factories, we are planning on diversifying our product range. We plan on beginning our first naval projects soon, and so I wished to inquire as to the possibility of Consolidated Arms acquiring some of the IPS vessels currently maintained by the Halberdgardian Navy for the purpose of developing our own naval vessels. As I recognize and respect that IPS is the legal owner of the designs, and could prosecute Consolidated Arms for any unauthorized research it conducted with these vessels, I thought it prudent to contact your office before undertaking any such endeavor. Of course, I am sure the Halberdgardian Navy will be able to find another use for the vessels in question should we be unable to perform said research.
I thank you for your time, and hope to hear back from you soon.
Respectfully,
Derek Reisner

[OOC: * I recognize that my purchase is a significant portion of my defense budget, but I haven't bought anything in ages, and since I assume it's not taking trillions upon trillions (or, at least, my entire defense budget) to maintain my armed forces, I figured I'd have a surplus of some kind to make up for this. Though if I recall correctly, Prae, you never were much of a stickler for those kinds of things anyways. :p]

Dear Sir,
The Company wishes to express its happiness that your nation, a long-standing customer of our products, has chosen to return and place a new order which will most certainly have our yards busy for several years. Your order is acceptable, and has been cleared. The first steel shall be cut shortly, and I estimate that the entire order shall be completed within the next 15 years, with vessels delivered as they are completed in large quanities before that date.
With regards to your request to use IPS vessels for research; this would be acceptable. However, assurances would have to be made that the result of your research offered up for sale would not be a copy of the vessels or any of their systems, nor a direct derivative of those vessels. We are more than happy to aid you with general design, but specific designs and all of their component systems remain our property and we would only relinquish our claim to them for an appropriate price. I hope that this is understandable and that the vessels are nonetheless helpful for research purposes.
[OOC: Yeah I dont really care about the budget thing. Nations IRL never buy things with a single year's budget anyway, and a massive purchase like this would almost certainly be done on built-up surplus or debt, or both. So long as I the person placing the order is a good RPer I let it pass.]

Missiles
Smasher / Aquila ATGM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/Praetonia/ATGM.png
Background: The Aquila ATGM arose from a joint project between the then Imperial Praetonian Ordnance and the Sarzonian Incorporated Ordnance Company to develop a man-portable missile capable of destroying any MBT or IFV likely to be found. This resulted in two variants of this powerful top-attack weapon - the Sarzonian Smasher, which is beam-riding and the Praetonian Aquila, which is guided by a passive IR sensor. Chosen so that it could not be easily detected and neutralised using passive sensors, the latter is on sale here.
The missile has been designed to penetrate current armoured designs employing Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA), hardened point targets, and targets and infantry units in the open. The weapon's IR sensor allows the missile to be guided passively to the target day or night in almost any weather conditions. Should the missile lose sensor contact with the target (eg. if the sensors are destroyed) then the missile will be able to continue on its course to hit where the target was last sighted. As it does not require the low speed of a wire-guided missile, the Aquila is able to close with and engage a target very quickly.
The unit is well-known for its small dimensions and light weight and its ease in disassembling. Those along with its modular design allow it to be deployed on light vehicles and 'battle taxis', as well as by infantry and on MBTs. Due to its high-resolution passive sensor, the Aquila is largely immune to jamming and is unlikely to be fooled by flares which do not look like tanks or vehicles. The tandem hollow-change warhead is designed to engage enemy targets from several angles of approach. Its HE warhead with thermobaric effect can provide devastation to any fortified unit, missile launcher, or destroy soft targets with near impunity.

Small Arms
L-63 Assault Rifle
History
Following the development of new assault rifles by other nations using intermediary cartridges, the decision was made to produce a new Praetonian rifle with a new Imperial Ordnance round to use with it. The rifle is of the bullpup configuration, like all previous Praetonian assault rifles, and is designed to be able to operate at a longer range than assualt rifles such as the M16 and G36.
Ammunition
As well as a new rifle, a new round was needed to go with it. The new round had to be both light and small but also able to impart a large amount of energy to its target, and so a heavy caseless 6.3mm tungsten round, weighing 8.2 grammes, was developed with a suitably large 35mm charge behind it. The ammunition is believed to have an effective range of 750m when fired from the L63, assuming the operator is able to aim accurately at that distance.
The 6.3 x 35mm Imperial Ordnance round, as it is now known, is capable of penetrating most body armour carried by troops, especially at short range, and with practical certainty with burst fire. The round is also sufficiently powerful to penetrate several sheets of regular glass and thin steel whilst retaining the ability to inflict a lethal wound at the end of it.
A version of the 6.3mm round made of 'blended metal' is also in production, but this bullet has been limitted so far to special operations sections due to concerns about its penetrative capailities in a general combat scenario.
Weapon Layout
The L63 is arranged in a bullpup format, with the 40-round magazine or 80-round drum located to the rear of the weapon, with the pistol grip just behind the forward hand grip. The weapon is 800mm long, of which 550mm is barrel. The long barrel imparts considerable speed and accuracy to the bullet, whilst the bullpup format keeps the gun suitably compact.
The weapon is constructed primarily of aluminium alloys and light composite materials, and weighs 4.25kg fully loaded with a scope attached to one of its two detachable rails. The primary such rail is mounted above the gun, and is usually used for mounting a scope, and the secondary rail is mounted below the grip and is used for mounting a 40mm grenade launcher, torch, Etc. A 12" sword or 5" knife bayonet may be attached to the muzzle guard.
The L63 can fire single shot, burst or full automatic. The ammunition is fired electronically in order to allow the 3-round burst a RoF of 2,200 rounds / minute (or the whole burst fired in 0.08 seconds). The full automatic mode is limitted to 650 rounds / minute in order to avoid wasted ammunition, although it could theoretically go higher. Both rails carry a wire from the gun into suitably equipped accessories, allowing an underslung grenade launcher to be fired electronically from the same trigger as the KE weapon, and to feed information from the forward mounted laser rangefinder to the scope.
In order to save power, the gun has a recoil energy-reclamation outer barrel which recharges the battery (with a shelf life of 15 years) as the weapon is fired. Since the recoil of the rifle greatly exceeds the small current required to ignite the primer in a round, in theory the battery can last indefiantely without recharge. However, if energy-consuming accessories such as torches, the laser rangefinder and scope, Etc. are left on for long peroids it may be necessay to recharge the battery manually. In an emergency, rounds may be expended in order to recharge the battery, and a manual charging system exists in case the battery completely runs out of power and is incapable of firing another round.
Integrated General Scope (IGS)
Based on the British SUSAT, the L63 is equipped with a scope as standard - usually 4x magnification, although both 2x and 6x are available. The IGS, like the SUSAT, is carries a tritium illuminator for night fighting. Unlike the SUSAT, the IGS has an electronic overlay (which is not required for the operation of the scope) linked in to the weapon's laser rangefinder which displays the range of whatever the weapon is pointed at, giving the user vital information for adjusting his aim, as well as allowing him to report exact positions of enemy troops and vehicles.
The scope is highly durable and constructed mainly of aluminium. Lense caps are provided to protect the lenses, and the electronic overlay view (as well as the rangefinder) can be turned off most of the time in order to conserve electricity. Ironsights are also available for the rifle, but are not generally used in Praetonian service.

L-77 Sniper Rifle
History
Noting that despite the now common-place L63 rifle being a match for those of foreign armies likely to be faced in wartime, the IPA still lacked an advanced sniper rifle, the Ministry of Defence commissioned a private company, Royal Ballistics Ltd., to design an advanced sniper rifle to be used in Praetonian service which would be manufactured by the far superior factory facilities of Imperial Ordnance. The contract was finalised for the rifle and associated ammunition, and the weapon entered production six months later.
Ammunition
Although a 7.7mm round currently used in Praetonian LMGs and battlerifles was available 'off the shelf', the decision was taken to develop a new round with a heavier charge that would be able to carry a projectile over a longer range and still penetrate body armour at the end of it. The round developed is the 7.7 x 45mm Imperial Ordnance Sniper round. The round, like all current Praetonian small arms ammunition, is caseless and is estimated to have an equivalent charge when fired from an L77 of a 7.7 x 68mm cased round. Although some armies dismiss the round as unreliable, when stored in good conditions in sturdy magazines, it has proved more than reliable enough for general service and the additional ammunition capacity has proved a boon.
The bullet itself utilises tungsten carbine extensively in its manufacture, making the round highly accurate and also powerful over range. Available in both an armour-piercing and a non-armour-piercing variant, the round can be utilised effectively in a variety of different situations and environments. The armour-piercing variant is capable of defeating any infantry body armour that is reasonably expected to be encountered and can pass through several unarmoured targets as well as thin metal planes, thin masonry, plasterboard walls and unarmoured and lightly armoured vehicles at medium range.
Construction and Layout
Arranged in a bullpup configuration, the L77 has a very long barrel (782mm) for its size (1,150mm) which imparts considerable veolicty and accuracy to each round fired whilst keeping the gun the same size as a regular ~7.7mm calibre rifle. The barrel itself is freefloating and machined from high-quality steel with octagonal rifling. The barrel itself is free-floating to allow for even greater accuracy. The rifle mounts two rails, one on top of the receiver and a second in front of the handgrip, on which a scope, lightweight bipod, carrying handle and torch are usually mounted. Numerous other accessories can also be mounted, including silencers, underslung grenade launchers and even a bayonet lug and bayonet, although the latter two are rarely used.
The rifle is fed from a magazine to the rear of the pistol grip generally from 20 round box magazines of 7.7mm caseless ammuniton, although occassionally 5, 10 or even 30 round boxes are used. As it fires caseless ammunition, the most common rifle to be manufacured is semi-automatic as there is no need to worry about ejecting cases at inappropriate moments. A bolt-action variant is, however, available, although it is not expected to be as widely used. The hammer and pin are made from a light-weight alloy, improving overall accuracy.
Light-weight materials are used as far as possible in the construction of the rifle, but care was taken not to make the rifle so light that recoil would become a more pronounced problem. Also to counter recoil, a muzzle break is often fitted to rifle, although this may be unscrewed as the sniper desires. The rifle butt, which is built into the gun, is backed by a recoil-reducing butt-pad which compresses, effectively spreading out the recoil over a much longer time period rather than exerting the force directly onto the firer's shoulder all at once. The rifle holds a powerful lithium-ion battery capable of running all of the rifle's electronics (including scope but excluding attached torch) for some days continuously.
Integrated General Scope - Sniper (IGS-S)
Based on the IGS system used with the L63 bullpup assault rifle, the Integrated General Scope -Sniper is practically the same basic design but longer, more powerful and manufactured to a higher standard with better quality lenses and lighter, stronger aluminium. Like its predecessor, the IGS-S includes an overlayed range-mapping system which displays the distance to the target at the centre of the scope as relayed from the laser rangefinder fitted into the gun, allowing for far greater first-shot accuracy with none of the disadvantages in reliability that a fully digital scope brings. The scope's electronic systems draw power from the rifle itself and requires none of its electronic systems for normal operation. The IGS-S is available in 5x and 10x variants.
Like its base variant, the IGS-S uses a SUSAT-style tritium dot to provide night-time illumination indepentant of an external power source. The sight is also equipped with a night-vision facility which may be activated or deactivated at will, which is also powered from a battery within the rifle. This improvement is now also being extended to the original IGS. The scope is highly durable and constructed mainly of aluminium. Removable rubber lense caps are fitted to protect the lenses from damage, which are themselves tinted to prevent unwanted flashes of light giving away the sniper's position to a watchful enemy. Ironsights are also fitted to the rifle, although these are generally left unused in favour of the scope.

SUBJECT: Purchase
Dear Sir Fortuanus,
The Southeast Asian Navy has been looking for a successor to the venerable Nimitz-class Aircraft Carrier, and it seems that the County-class CVN makes the fit. We shall take ten units of the County-class CVN for testing purposes in our little competition we will be holding.
The cost of 135,000,000,000 shall be wired upon the confirmation of the order. Should the County emerge triumphant, we shall return to make a more substantial purchase.
Yours Truly,
His Excellency,
Minister of Defense
United Sovereign Nations of Southeast Asia

Lake Class Tanker
Overview
Designed to fill the vital role of refueling vessels underway, the Lake Class was designed with both the Imperial navy and the export market in mind, and as such is equipped to carry either conventional fuels and refuel vessels by pipe as well as being able to carry nuclear fuels and refuel nuclear powered vessels underway. The ship can carry enough fuel for several vessels, or to support a single vessel for long periods (extremely long in the case of nuclear powered vessels). The vessel can protect itself by means of its helicopter, missile systems and light naval cannon, and is reasonably well armoured against potential threats to its safety.

Castle Class AOE
Overview
The Castle Class is a multi-facetted design intended to provide a fleet with full replenishment of supplies and ammunition. The vessel is large, with dedicated spaces for the stowage of potentially hazardous munitions. The vessel is also specially equiped to transfer such weapons to another vessel, and mounts several heavy-duty cranes. The vessel is moderately well armoured and is capable of holding its own against individual or small groups of enemy vessels, as well as being able to defend itself from attack from the air. Operating as a submarine tender, the vessel can service up to eight vessels at once.

To: Sir Fortuanus Gallius, MP, Director-General of Imperial Praetonian Shipyards
From:James Tricker, Head of Navies, Northford.
After hearing many great things about youre company, I have decided to source Praetorian Products for our "Escort-Detachment", a force of destroyers which are designed to patrol our trade routes.
While the Commonwealth of Northford has already agreed to purchase ships from the reknown PIW, we have deemed your multi-purpose ships superior in a deep-sea patrolling situation to ships from the PIW. That is not to say that we "rate" your ships better across the board, it merely says we believe to be better suited for that role. In fact, we think that PIW ships, being more specialised, are better for large fleet actions, where sinking ships is the overriding priority.
That is, however, only our view.
Anyway, on with the order. After careful review we have deemed your Praefele Class DDN to be the best ship for us. To that end, we wish to buy 15 Praefele Class DDN (Flight II)'s from your shipyards.
While this may be a (very) small order, please bear in mind this will be a regular order, as we wish to eventually have a force of (Praefele Class) Destroyer's in the order of 500 Ships.
Total for order: 30 Billion.
Funds will be wired upon confirmation of order.
Regards,
James Tricker,

Attached Note: We're pleased to hear that your navy intends to place several regular orders for Praefele Class vessels. It is possible for you to place one large order but have ships delivered (and, indeed, paid for) in a steady, more manageable stream. Also, as a point of information, in what sense do you refer to the 'specialisation' of PIW vessels compared to IPS vessels? Your procurement policy is not being criticised, it is merely useful to us to know what specifically customers look for in vessels in order to fit future designs more closely to their needs.

OOC: I'll give you an OOC response and an IC response for that one.....
OOCly, it's because to me, you're ships seem to be very balanced ships. They all seem to have "better than average" armour, pack a decent surface punch, have a sizeable VLS compliment, and have a few torp tubes. To me, that makes each destroyer a viable multi-role ship. Different roles(AA, ASW, ASuW) within a fleet, are it seems, decided by the admiral, rather than by the nature and abilities of the ship itself. Contrasting this, are Sarzonia's ships, each of which is given a clearly defined role within a fleet(it's in the title mostly), be it ASuW, ASW or AA.
Don't take that as a critism, mind you.... It's just the way I see it, and, in a way, I actually quite like it like that. Each of your ships, to me, seems a solid platform. When I read, however, Sarz new AA destroyer, I finish with the impression that for anything other than a plane will sink the ship with nothing but a few Autocannon rounds. That's not to say it will (most likely the contrary), but thats just the impression I personally get
Anyway, for the IC response, which is more because I don't see the need to basically reliterate everything I've just said, and because I'm trying to RP "James Tricker" as a bit of an "Old-Fashioned-Bastard", who sticks to the people he loyal to. At the moment, for him that loyalty is to the PIW, as they are giving him a nice little discount. Be assured that the sentiments are only IC ones.

PROHT would like to purchase a few modified Terror class HMKs.
Following modifications and reasons:
Non nuclear, PROHT defense ministry has a distaste for such things, also PROHT is a nuclear material free zone
15" ETC gun turrets left blank for PROHT 14" guns, since PROHT does not wish to have more than 6 different kinds of artilery to look after
140 mm ETC to be replaced by PROHT 5" guns for same reason
VLS area to be left blank
The ship will be fitted out with all weapons at PROHT Naval Shipyards at New Roanoke Island
PROHT will purchase said ships at reduced price since you will be building them without reactors or weaopns systems, $1.5 billion each looks reasonable
Are these modifications acceptable?
If so, PROHT will purchase 50 at a lot price of $75 billion (PROHT refitting cost estimated $15 billion)

Official Message from the Allied Union Naval Defense Force Foreign Requisition Board
Greetings, friends!
As part of our program to rennovate and restructure the Allied Union Naval Defense Force, the AUNDFFRB, after considering designs of indiginous, Questerian, Sarzonian, and Praetonian command battleships, we have chosen the venerable and mighty Royal Sovereign Class to spearhead our naval forces into the foreseeable future. In addition to these grand warships, we have also selected the Sovereign Class dreadnoughts to replace the aging Gigantor Class dreadnought, which has been operated since the very founding of the Allied Union. These orders entail Phase 1 of the AUNDF upgrade program, and it entails the following vessels.
3x Royal Sovereign Class Dreadnoughts
20x Sovereign Class Dreadnoughts
This order comes to a total of:
$945,000,000,000 USD
We look forward to hearing your response on this request.

Re: Purchase
After some time away from the international stage, the Imperium is finally returning to a more active role in world affairs, if only slowly. As such, it would be conducive to ensure that our armed forces are not behind those of our possible foes, and we therefore wish to order the following:
Ten Royal Sovereign-class superdreadnaughts ($2,750,000,000,000)
Upgrade of one hundred Sovereign-class dreadnaughts to Flight II specifications
One hundred Lupus-class SSKNs ($85,000,000,000)
One thousand Port-class corvettes ($375,000,000,000)
One thousand Terror-class heavy monitors ($1, 800,000,000,000)
Production rights for the IAD-12 "Lance" Flight III ASM ($2,500,000,000)
The sub-total for the purchased vessels (not including the upgrades, the cost of which we leave for you to determine) comes out to $5,012,500,000,000. Payment will be wired upon confirmation of our order, with the payment for the upgrades to the specified vessels to follow upon the determination of costs for such an endeavor.

SUBJECT:Order Request
The Proletarian Republic would like to place an order request with the Shipyards. We are beginning to phase out many of our aging ship designs - namely, over 60% of our currently operating planetside navy - and require replacements in order to keep our navy at its current strength. Therefore, we request these vessels:
- 1 Royal Sovereign Class Superdreadnought
- 12 County Class Aircraft Carriers
- 40 Dragoon Class Cruisers
- 200 Knight Class Destroyers
- 475 Minister Class Frigates
- 1200 Grenadier Class LC
- 750 Curiassier Class SSK
Total expenditure: $1,622,050,000,000

Sir,
While at this time we are not willing to subject ourselves to the ravages of market fluctuations by accepting raw materials as payment for such expensive products as ships, I am sure that it would be possible for your thorium to be sold at market rates in order to raise cash for the purchase of naval vessels. Provided your thorium production is sufficient to cover the full costs, we would be happy to allow you to pay over a number of years at very low interest rates. (ooc)Couple of questions about your missle systems
1: the ballista vls; can this fire cruise, and, or, Lance asm's?
2: the Wellington AMMS; a explanation what this is wouldn't go amiss, either..
Am considering buying one of your larger ships (the Sovereign, to be precise) to use for fleet flagship, hence the question.
Praetonia
30-07-2006, 22:18
[OOC: The ballista is designed for use with Praetonian weapons, and so it can fire the Lance (and any of my other missiles of that size range), but it is larger than cruise so it can fire cruise as well with modifications. I would advise buying Lance though. Cruise isn't too good in NS terms.
The Wellington AMMS is like the rolling airframe missile (RAM) system used on US and German warships. It fires small (~2m) missiles at income missiles and low-flying aircraft (or shells, theoretically).]

Sir,
Imperial Praetonian Shipyards is always interested in opening new shipyards in foreign countries, as well as factories manufacturing various components. However, for reasons of corporate as well as national security, it is not possible for us to make available production rights to entire ship designs. We are, of course, offering weapons production rights up for sale, but ships must be ordered on an individual basis. However, it is often cheap to order ships from IPS directly than to manufacture domestically as we are able to make considerable economies of scale on almost all components.
Thankyou for your interest, and it would be very much appreciated if IPS were allowed to open a satellite yard in your nation. However, I am afraid that the corporation will have to decline your request for production rights to ships. If there is any other way in which you wish to co-operate with IPS, please do make your offers heard.

To:Imperial Praetonian shipyards
From: James Tricker, Head of Navies, Northford.
Greetings friends from abroad. You may have noticed very little activity from the Commonwealth in the past few months, and there is a simple reason for this. The Admiralty to which I report deemed it suitable to halt procurement of ships and other hardware, and enter a stage of training up service men and women, in order to ensure that there was sufficent skilled personell for the next stage of expansion.
That next stage of expansion has come to the forefront of the Northfordian Military mind, and it will start with the following purchase. You may remember some time ago, the Northfordian Navy aquired a number of escorts from you: They were used in a defensive fashion, and were the forefront of an escort force we pioneered. In the 24 months since the Escort Force's launch, they have been an undeniable aid to Commerce within the GASN, apprehending various pirates and aiding numerous convoys in storms.
To that end, the Commonwealth has Authorised me, James Tricker, to make the following purchases, and have allocated funds where required:
*50 Port Class FS
*300 Minister Class FFN, N
*100 Knight Class DDN
*50 Praefele Class DDN
The total cost for this order is 468 .75 Billion Universal Standard Dollars (USD). Funds will be drawn from the defence budget, and will be wired upon confirmation of order.
Roanoke Island, Allanean Arms facility.
The helicopter begins to descend slowly towards the roof of the immense factory. Under it, hundreds of missiles are moved off immense production lines. Even as President Alexander Kazansky steps off the aircraft, he's approached by a camera crew.
He begins to speak.
Dear Freemen of the United States of Allanea.
Today, I address you as President and Commander in Chief. You know of course, that this year, Congress entrusted me with a 23.58 trillion Defense budget, and foreign donations yielded even more money. You may ask, what we intend to do with it.
The first and main production is one hundred thousand Khan missiles, for which we have purchased production licensing from ZMI. The second is equipment, tanks, armor (manufactured on license) to equip one million additional Mechanized Infantry and support troops. The third is the purchase 200 “Tower” SSBN's and 200 “Lupus” SSKN's from the Imperial Praetonian Shipyards, to be manufactured on Roanoke Island.
Further more, we will order large stockpiles of chemical weaponry to be manufactured in factories in Rejistania. And this is not yet all.
We have purchased already 100 SUB-4 bombers from Space Union. We will purchase more. Whatever it takes, we will make our nation safe.
That is all.
May God Bless Allanea.

DEMOCRATIC SOVIET REPUBLIC OF KAHANISTAN
Kahanistan Republic Navy
The Republic Navy is interested in obtaining production rights to both variants of the IAD-12 Lance ASM (air and surface launch); would this cost two and a half or five billion USD? We would pay the five billion if we needed, funding is no object.
The larger purchase we would like to make is that of five Royal Sovereign-class super dreadnaughts. After much bickering among the Supreme Soviet over such issues as technological disparities, they have agreed to authorize the expenditure of $1.375 trillion USD for the warships.
Depending on your answer to our query regarding the Lance missile, the bill would arrive at either $1.3775 trillion or $1.38 trillion USD.

Hotdogs2 would like to ask Praetonias Imperial Shipyards as to whether they would be willing to make us a small package compromising of 50 ships and submarines as a small, naval rapid reaction force(with no amphibious assault capability). We would require it to be based around your largest Dreadnaught type ship and we would be willing to pay a large sum for your troubles.
Other than that we would like to ask what the maximum speed of said fleet would be.

To: Sir Fortuanus Gallius, MP, Director-General of Imperial Praetonian Shipyards, plc.
From: Paul David Nettleton, Minister of Defense, Union of Southeast Asian Nations
Subject: Praetonian rival to Union-class and Swiftsure-class successor
Dear Sir/Madam,
With the Incorporated States of Sarzonia going into a period of indefinite isolation, along with their esteemed arms contracting giant, the Portland Iron Works, we have turned toward your revered corporation for your superb services in the international shipbuilding industry.
Sometime after the Panic of 2006, the Portland Iron Works commissioned the Benatar-class nuclear-powered heavy fleet aircraft carrier in order to substitute the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland Corporation's Union-class nuclear-powered heavy fleet aircraft carrier within the Incorporated Sarzonian Navy. Federal Parliament has ordered about five of these said heavy fleet carriers, but it was not in time for the orders to be confirmed before the sales at the Portland Iron Works were suspended indefinitely. As a result, the hulls are still there in Portland sitting in a dry-dock.
So, we come to you for this custom project request, along with another.
Also, Southeast Asia lacks something that can be sufficiently called a light fleet aircraft carrier, and also has turned to you. The Swiftsure-class was yet another project that the Imperial Praetonian Shipyards and the Portland Iron Works pooled their resources together with to form something the Imperial Praetonian Navy and the Incorporated Sarzonian Navy lacked, like in the case of the venerable Freedom-class "pocket super dreadnaught" (in our nomenclature we would dub 'pocket-SDs' as simply "Dreadnaughts") and the recent Lobo/Lupus-class nuclear-powered patrol submarine. We have yet to procure one such trimaran light fleet carrier ourselves, but we feel that it may be slightly out of date due to the constantly evolving state of the battlefield in the great and vast waters of this planet.
So, I, Paul David Nettleton, on the behalf of my nation, humbly request that the Imperial Praetonian Shipyards, plc. produce a successor to the Swiftsure-class nuclear-powered light fleet aircraft carrier, or if that is not possible, at least produce a Flight II upgrade.
I eagerly await your corporation's response.
Yours Sincerely,
His Excellency,
Paul David Nettleton
Minister of Defense

Greetings,
The New Prussian Empire has undergone a reformation of its Kriegsmarine, and as such is requiring new shipping. However, we do not know which ships would be best suited for our needs. As is our doctrine, we have a particularly Submarine-heavy Navy, but are in need of good Battleships, Cruisers, and Carriers for our forces.
We are willing to pay, and pay a lot, for whatever you feel is your best equipment. Tell us what you would use based on the following general description of the average Flotte (Flottilla of the Wanderjarian Kriegsmarine).
I Flotte:
Commanded by Admiral Tillesen
-1 Carrier
-5 BBs
-5 Battle Cruisers
-1 Heavy Cruiser
-5 Light Cruisers
Now this is a general description of what most of our forces look like, excluding class names, and ship names. What ships do you have, which you feel would be best suited for our needs?
As previously mentioned, we shall pay good money for whatever you recommend. We trust in your judgement.
Good day to you,

Onec again, the Commonwealth of Northford is pleased to once again place an order with the esteemed IPS. To that end, we place the following order:
400 Praefele Class DDN (Flight II)
150 Knight Class DDN
600 Minister Class FFN

This is my first order on the open market, so I am not sure how to transfer funds. If you are willing to explain this process to me our Nation would like to begin building a Coast Guard fleet.
We would like to begin with: 5-Port Class FS ships with additional amunition supplies as we have no domestic production abilities for munitions. Also we are in need of 1-Port Class ship unarmed for training purposes. If you produce helocopters we would like the ships out fitted with them for long range search and rescue missions.
We are willing to pay the 1.875B USD for the 5 armed ships. Please provide pricing for the training ship and helocpoters.

OOC: You check your defense budget on an economy calculator ( http://nsdossier.texasregion.net/main.aspx) and that is pretty much how much you can spend in places like storefronts. You don't hit a button and wire the money voilà, you have to role-play spending your money. Of course this means you can lie, but storefront owners generally can tell something's up when a nation that's less than a month old is ordering 10 superdreadnoughts.
It is also important that you keep track of what you buy and what purchases you've made. I, myself, keep a word document open detailing all of my transactions and equipment, but there are probably some who go even farther (or is it further?).
Also, most storefronts make you do your own math (add up the purchases) so it's easier for them and you.
I hope this made sense, enjoy the game.

How much would it cost for me to have production rights on most of the ships I bought from you previously? That way I won't have to keep bothering you for more. :)
OOC: On the off chance you check this.
That Commonwealth of Tolvan would like to procure production rights to the Lance AShM (both variants).
