The United States of Human Space Colonies has today announced the planned construction and deployment of a new Starship, the Presidential Class Ground Attack Cruiser:

The Department of Defence outline for the new Cruiser called for a mission-specialist vessel designed specifically to deploy a large arsenal of firepower against targets primarily in support of planetary invasions. The winning contract went to United Spaceworks, a planet-wide conglomerate of Shipwrights.
The Presidential Class Ground Attack Cruiser comprises a sleek, long frame that is designed specifically to hold the central armoured compartment of Grand Slam Orbital Bombardment Missiles, fired downwards relative to the Starship's design. As such, the Presidential Class does not maintain any torpedo launchers, favouring larger numbers of phaser banks to protect itself and maintain it's streamlined design. Capable of Warp 7, the Presidential Class is designed to be used in support of invasion fleets, held in reserve whilst Orbital Supremacy was achieved before moving into position and unleashing its main armament of 100 Megaton M/AM Missiles to targets on the surface and, theoretically, in orbit.
The Presidental Class is expected to enter service within 1 NS Year (1 RL Week)
