Since the Socialist Party of Timor had won the election. Which was a fair election. They had gone to a more socialist system. So far most people were happy and so. But some people were frustrated because they had lost their jobs and such.

So in the capital of Deli a protest of over 400 people emerged near the city hall. Police and military units were called, as they began to march on the presidential palace. Because no organized march could get near the Presidential palace, they were warned repeatedly that they couldn't get close.

Military men fired into the air, and some people ran around, and police opened fire into the crowd, as several dozen surged forward and began to grapple and attack the police officers. Military soldiers began to fire on the demonstrators and most civilians ran.

Military units moved into the capital, while ambulances arrived to tend to the wounded.

It was reported that;

6 demonstrators and 1 police officer had been killed in the riot and over 100 people had been wounded.

Timor Island Response to Riot:

A riot has occured today in Timor Island by people who want to get rid of the system that we have in Timor Island. The riot has resulted in the deaths of 7 people but we will not charge anyone for this deadly riot. We are hoping that most nations, capitalist and socialist will condem this riot because it is against a democratically elected government.

"As much as I abhor socialism, I abhor lawlessness even more. I personally would recommend using much more forceful tactics to quell the riots."

--Foreign Minister Diana Cheng--
