The Kiith Somtaaw mining vessel Fal-Corum Exited hyperspace with in the proximity of Vis Uban. However, this was not as peacefully an exit as the captin could have hoped.

"Captin, we have been pulled out of hyperspace prematurly....no apparent reason....wait, a massive grav well has been located....Ghost of Karak, the lower deck power generator has overloaded.......one minute till overload." Said an enson

Captin So'jin had an important decision to make, there were 50 crew members in the lower decks and if he did what he was planning then they would all be killed, but if he dodn't then the entire ship would be lost.
He made his decision. "Enson, jettson the lower decks, and may Karak forgive us"

Outside the ship the clamps that attached the lower decks released and the emergency ejection procedure lanched them clear of the Fal-Corum. With in second they detonated with the force of a small sun, throwing the Fal-Corum off course and towards Atlantis....

Emergency transmission from Fal-Corum:Mayday, Mayday! this is the Kiith Samtaaw vessel Fal-Corum requesting assistance. We have suffered a massive malfunction and have had to jettson the lower decks of our ship. Please, if anyone can hear me please respond. Repeat...

A junior officer of the Alteran fleet burst into a meeting of the Military Council, noticing with some nervousness the red faces of almost every officer there.

"Sirs, we've been tracking an incoming hyperspace signature that originated from far outside of our territory. It recently came to an abrupt halt after encountering the gravity well produced by one of our Black Projects. They've been broadcasting emergency signals."

"So?"

"They just jettisoned a large section of their ship. 50 lifeforms on board. "

"I think the officer is trying to suggest an SAR mission."

"Yes sir, I mean sirs."

"Authorised. Take the Lantean Sentinel and pick up as many as you can."

"Sir, the Arcturus generator and several decks are still unfinished..."

"Does it have access points for a ZPM?"

"Kind of."

"Take a ZPM and medical supplies."

"Aye sir."

Lantean Sentinel, you are cleared to leave spacedock. Good luck, go save those aliens.

Roger that spacedock, Lantean Sentinel going to cruise speed.

The skeletal form of Lantean Sentinel sped out of the spacedock restraints, leaving a cloud of buzzing construction bots with nothing to do. The ship looked barely able to move, most of the decks were missing and none of the weapons were functional. The hollow space where the Arcturus generator would be placed could clearly be seen, and the power lines that would be connected trailed slightly.

Fal-Corum, this is Lantean Sentinel. We're on our way, ETA five minutes.

"Roger Lantean Sentinel, be warned thoug, we will be unable to stop the ship from tumbeling through space so you will have to figure that part out for your self. We are at this moment calling our sister ship the Kun laan, slayer of the beast, she should be able to help but we're worried that what caused out malfunction could happen to her, and she is far more important to our fleet than us, if you cause our malfunction in any way please stop what caused it before we call for the Kun laan."

Fal-Corum, the gravitic disturbance you are experiencing is the result of a subspace experiment vital to Alteran development. We cannot at this time shut down the project. We can however tow you out of the anomoly's radius. The Military Committee never thought that this experiment could affect alien drive systems, and we extend our apologies and sympathies for the loss of your rew.

The structure of the |Lantean Sentinel was more complete than it seemed. Seconds after the message was sent, a tractor beam (a new feature, specially for the Arcturus Ascendant class) locked onto the crippled ship. The Altearn craft turned around, and pulled the Fal-Corum from the range of the anomoly.

Fal-corum, this is Lantean Sentinel. We are uploading a basic map of such anomolies in Alteran space to your computers.

Again a Quantem wave front openned but instead of a simple minning ship exiting Somtaaw's pride and joy, the Kun laan, arrived. Fleet admaril Mijon S'jet sent the following mission to the Lantean Sentinel: "This is Somtaaw battleship Kun laan, we would like to thank you on behalf of the Somtaaw people for rescueing our minnig vessel and would like to extend an ambasidorial team to your capital or other city."

Kun Laan, the is Lantean Sentinel. That's damn convenient. I just sent the request to allow your team to land on Vis Uban, and the request is granted. No scanning of the planet by any team or foreign ship is allowed. We thank you for your co-operation. Uploading landing waypoint for whatever shuttle you may choose to send now.

After sucess full first contact with the Alterrans, the Kiith-sa of Somtaaw proposed a deal: In exchange for some Alterran energy generation technolgy and protection from dangerous fources in this galaxy the 12 explorer class comand ship, the Sii Nait, which was under construction would be comander by an Alterran crew and would act as a minning ship for the Alterrans. Other than the comand crew the Sii Nait would be crewed by Somtaaw kiith members and the 10 Alterrans in the comand crew would be given the title of Alterran-kah, or Alterran chosen.
The Kiith-sa now await the reply of the Alterrans.
