President Lord Harald Gustavsson is planning on resigning after fifty years in office, and has decreed that he will end military rule and allow civilian elections.

The following candidates are running for office:

Monsiuer Philippe de Burgoise
Party: Capitalist Moderates Party

De Burgoise is the son of Pierre de Burgoise, chairman and CEO of the internationally renowned weapons maker ArmsDiscounters Bonstock. He promises a pro-business environment, including lower taxes, and promises to make Bonstock more economically competitive in the world, along with a strong military. A lawyer by training, he was elected to the Senate five years ago, and divides his time between his Senate office and his family's retreat in the tropical Ste. Evremonde islands.

Roberto Sanchez
Party: Socialist Party

Originally a steel factory worker, Sanchez wrote a book about critisizing government labor policies while working at his job. The book, Democracy and Exploitation, became a bestseller, and Sanchez was soon elected to the Senate, forming a new Socialist party. He advocates the nationalization of many industries, a reduction in the armed forces, and raising the standards of living, as well as a softing of Bonstock's traditionally anti-communist and expansionist foreign policy.

Yeshumed of Miramik
Party: United Church of Yeshumedism

A shepherd from the southeastern provinces of Bonstock, Yeshumed claims to have had revelations from God that he was to save humanity from sin by spreading God's word. He has been gathering a large following among Bonstock's usually atheist population. He advocates a holy crusade to unite all people under a government that spreads his version of God's word, and advocates the inclusion religious matters in Bonstocknian life.

Vote! Your descision could help guide Bonstocknian policies for years.

The Emperor of Cantelmium has been quoted advocating the placement of the Capitalist Party. He also mentions that this would perhaps allow the extension of trade relations between our two nations.

"Hi I'm Larry Jenkins, reporting live from BSTV studios. Recent poll results have put Socialist candidate Roberto Sanchez nearly 16 points ahead of the nearest opposion, Capitalist candidate Philippe de Burgoise. Third party candidates, most notably Yeshumed of Miramik, have been showing a poor standing so far. We bring you live with our chief political analyst James Brook. James?"

"Yes, Larry, this election seems to have become a two party race. Religion just doesn't fly in Bonstock, especially in the cult form. This is gonna be a contest between Sanchez and de Burgoise. I think, however, the preliminary poll results don't mean much. Burgoise and Sanchez are gonna be having a major fight of it. Remember these polls are very early and all the factors havn't been put into play yet."

"James, do you think Sanchez has a good chance of winning, and why do you think he's ahead?"

"Quite simply, Larry, Sanchez is a populist. He's gotten a powerful crowd together, and most people really see him as a force of change. Remember, Bonstock's labor laws are notoriously harsh and the vast majority of poor factory workers and even the middle class may go for him. But de Borgoise also has an advantage of his own, and that's money. He's the son of one of the richest Bonstocknians, and his mother was actually the daughter of Bonstock's first President, Charles Ste. Evremonde, so he's got big names and big money behind him. Sanchez doesn't have that. So this really is shaping up to be a big fight and I think we have one interesting election ahead of us."

"Thank you, James. We'll be back later with round the clock election coverage on your main network for Bonstocknian news, BSTV."

"We're back with BSTV news at 6 o'clock. Capitalist candidate Philippe de Burgoise has closed the gap with Socialist candidate Roberto Sanchez to about 6 percentage points, a great increase in the polls. However, Sanchez still commands the lead with 50% of the vote. We bring you live to the Sanchez campaign center with our reporter, Christina Igram."

"Thank you Larry I'm right now in the campaign room with Socialist candidate Roberto Sanchez. Senator Sanchez, why do you think your party has gotten the lead so far?"

"Quite simply, Christina, because Bonstock wants change. I am the candidate for change. De Burgoise is not. And I think the Bonstocknian people have had enough of corporate and military rule."

"Sanchez, when you are elected, what will be your first act?"

"When I first get into office, I will reform the Bonstocknian economy. I will bring tax relief to working and middle class families, and I will improve education, healthcare, and worker's rights. I think it's time that not only the corporate elite be allowed to rule."

"Thank you, Senator. I'm Christina Igram, BSTV news."

The Commonwealth deems

-Monsiuer Philippe de Burgoise as unfit for the presedency for his militant ways and plans for further exploitation of the Bonstockian people.
-Yeshumed of Miramik as unfit for the presedency for his mental instability. ("Heretics!" cried a Consul member while it was deciding on a candidate to support)
-Roberto Sanchez as the best candidate and quite possibly the most moderate leader Bonstock has attempted to have in it's history. We commend his demilitarization, nationalization, and reforms of repressive policies.

Good day to you.

(I was kinda going to Yeshumed for a while there XD)
