45 And as they sat in the city,
46 Knowing their victory only extended to the limits of it,
47 They were in great trepidation.
48 Xiao's great legions were coming to destroy them,
49 And their comrades would only arrive when it was too late.

Concord, Embassy Row, Gracie's Department Store

Consular Bemet of the Southeastasian delegation was trapped with Lt. Colonel Nathan Mellon and his ragtag brigade of regulars and People's Guard and conscripted captured Army soldiers. He sat wearing "found" coats from the Gracie's Men's Department. The other soldiers sat around jesting while knowing what grim fate lay ahead.

Lt. Colonel Nathan Mellon sat down next to Consular Bemet while Bemet was trying to stomach a jerky stew made by a Private to feed their fire team.

Lt. Col. NM: "Delicious isn't it?"
Bemet: *gag* "I've had worse."
NM: "You take what you can get."

A soft silence permated the store as they sat watching the snowstorm rage outside.

Mellon: "Look, they aren't coming for you anytime soon, I've assigned myself and my best boys to guard you. In case it all goes to shit though..."

The Lt. Colonel went to the back and returned with a FMK-3 and a generic 9mm Revolver. "All the stocks have left to spare. Its rather comfortable, though the Revolver is a bit underpowered. Just run, spray, and pray, and hope that we can outrun them eh?"

The Consular half-laughed, half-scoffed and picked up the weapons. They were rather light, the revolver and SMG were comforting. He thanked the Lt. Colonel. The man smiled and turned to his platoon. He begun to sing with a remarkably deep voice. The rest of the platoon joined in.

" United forever in friendship and labor,
Our mighty confederacy will ever endure.
The glorious Confederacy will live through the ages.
The dream of the people their fortress secure.

Long live our great Motherland, built by the people's mighty hand.
Long live our People, united and free.
Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire,
Shining in glory for all men to see.

Through days dark and stormy where High Father led us
Our eyes saw the bright sun of freedom above
and High Father our Leader with faith in the People,
Inspired us to build up the land that we love.

Long live our great Motherland, built by the people's mighty hand.
Long live our People, united and free.
Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire,
Shining in glory for all men to see.

We fought for the future, destroyed the invader,
and brought to our homeland the Laurels of Fame.
Our glory will live in the memory of nations
and all generations will honour her name.

Long live our great Motherland, built by the people's mighty hand.
Long live our People, united and free.
Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire,
Shining in glory for all men to see.

We fought for the future, destroyed the invader,

Long live our great Motherland, built by the people's mighty hand.
Long live our People, united and free.
Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire,
Shining in glory for all men to see."

The Lt. Colonel turned around and smiled, Consular Bemet smiled and sang with them.

Concord, Leafanistan

The Temperature had dropped to 40 below (F) and it would stay like that for the next few weeks. The snowstorm would not help. The thin 9 divisions defending the city were no match for the highly trained 3rd Army.

The song was refreshing, clearing up all doubt and sense of helplessness in his head. He was not a soldier....at least in the technical sense. But he was a fighter, and one that would fight for his country...only in the form of a diplomat. Helping his nation and the world through careful choice of words and reason.

Then out of the blue, he remembered something personal.

Oh, brilliant. he thought. The only sign that gave his feeling away was his hands, which momentarilty twitched sideways.

Concord, capital city of Leafanistan

12 From the sky, parcels of great relief did come;
13 However, they offered no relief from the strife.

A soldier was cheering, Bemet stood up and squinted to try to get a better look. Through the snow they were dragging something, wait, more things. They were crates with either a large Red Cross, a picture of a sandwich and a drink, or ammunition. They were supply crates dropped by the Air Force, a gift from High Command. Bemet called out for Lt. Colonel Nathan Mellon and the officer ran toward the others and embraced them. They dragged the boxes into the destroyed department store and pryed them open. Inside were MREs, toiletries and KF11 rifles. The medical crate's parachute didn't deploy properlly and a lot of equipment was destroyed. But they salvaged what they could. It would help them reinforce the block, but against the highly trained 3rd Army Xiao sent, it was but a pin prick.

Concord, Leafanistan, 1 day later, 5:34 AM Local Time

Consular Bemet was fast asleep, the fire in the department store was warm and comforting. Then he was shaken awake by an obviously disturbed soldier. He put his finger to his lips and cupped his hand by his ear. The message was clear.

Bemet picked up his SMG and listened, a whistling noise permated the snowstorm, it wasn't the wind it was a shell. The first one smashed the remains of the Southeastasian Consulate to even smaller pieces throwing Bemet and the soldier next to him to the ground in the blast wave. Then more shells exploded around them. Return fire from 105mm, 155mm guns, and 120mm mortars turned the peaceful morning into a hellish landscape. Mellon ran toward them with the rest of the platoon and kicked snow onto the fire. He told everyone to grab anything useful they could carry and run south, deeper into the city. They were going to shell Embassy Row, and Memorial Square heavily and everything along the Autobahn to clear the way. At least that is what High Command assumed.

The shells exploded around them tearing apart the Gracie's and destroying Bemets temporary home for the past few days. Mellon kept yelling "Just a few hundred more metres", as they ran and ran through the streets. More people joined them as they ran. Up ahead a destroyed building and a crushed convoy lay in flames. The medic wanted to help them but Mellon grabbed the man, and smacked him and told him to keep running. Seconds later another shell hit the debris again.

Mellon lifted up his KF11 and opened fire on a sturdy looking building in front of them and destroyed the door with the 25mm grenade launcher. They dived into the building and waited it out.

After what seemed to be an eternity the shelling stopped and Mellon removed a Subway map from his pouch. He pointed out where they were, just a kilometre from the Autobahn and 10 kilometres from the city's edge. He then sighed with relief and looked up, they were in a bar. Mellon smiled and reached over and grabbed a bottle of vodka, and poured out shots. "To Victory" he said. The men cheered and drank.

Mellon then returned his expression to a now familar serious look. He asked a Corporal to go with 2 privates and retreive as much gasoline as they could from vehicles outside and to run recon near gas stations to retreive anything oil based. He asked a Captain to go with another two privates and to retrieve some alcohol from a nearby Pharmacy. Bemet asked what was going on as Mellon threw him a beer and downed one. Mellon replied simply, "When guests come over we offer them drinks, Molotov cocktails are a favorite of mine."

Xiao's 3rd Army now waited for a break in the storm to enter the city. The Red Tidean and Leafanistani reinforcements are 3 days away.

"Watch the rail!"
Private Calter turned around, looking at the sailor who'd shouted the warning. He was currently pointing at a bit of rusted rails along the side of the ship, where two soldiers were trying to move a box of supplies further down the transports side. A slight wind puffed through, sending chills through everyone's body.
The SkyCaptian winter was cold, but apparently Leafanistan had it worse.
Trucks were being loaded up, along with tanks, jeeps, a few helicopters thrown in at the last moment, and of course winter-time gear was being loaded as well.
Sailors yelled out orders to each other, while the troops boredly awaited their turn to board. But that wouldn't come till evening, what with all the stuff that had yet to be stuffed into the small transports...

That was pure luck....thank goodness I lived. thought the diplomat, whom was still shocked from that artillery round blast. Oh no. My wife...the Democratic Imperium of Halberdgardia...

"Does someone have a good communication line?" asked the diplomat franctically, "I need to get access to my superior back in Singapore and the Halberdgardian Department of State!"

OOC: Not in the mood right now to write a good post. Oh, and Leafanistan, it's Southeast Asia, and the national adjective is Southeast Asian, not Southeastasia and Southeastasian. Don't do that again, please.

Mellon thought for a bit and picked up the phone in the bar. He suddenly became very serious and said "Oh God!......the phones are dead!". He then pulled out his map and went over to a table.

"Ok Bemet, we need to get you home to Southeast Asia, or whereever, now the Airport is destroyed, and the raillines are only going south, which is exactly where you don't want to go. The roads are siezed, but I believe High Father in the Parliament building still has access to radio and is trying to get reinforcements for us. Its about 15 kilometres from here, and the storm is still raging outside. We would normally wait for a break but so is the army. Now I can't go with you, I have this block to protect. I will give you two of my men to help you."

Mellon yelled for Captain Anderson and Major Marsly. "These men will accompany you, but that is if you want to risk it. It can get pretty cold and no telling when the artillery will start again."

"I know all too well that my options are limited." the fourth generation man of French descent whose family resided in Southeast Asia nodded, tapping the firearm on his knee as a sign of anxiousness. "My best bet is that a few rescue units sent by my country's Army are on their way. To ask a question that probably needs no answer, does the Confederate Socialist Reform Party still respect diplomatic immunity, or will they slaughter me like your fellow Loyalists without a second thought?"

Mellon scoffed; "You've seen those butchers out there, you've seen them on TV too. They purposely bombed your embassy! Sure the higher-ups might care, but down here, the ground-pounders will shoot you dead just like any of us. You have to get to the Parliament building and from there, there might be options out. If anything you'll be surrounded by an entire division and High Father. Good luck my friend."

Mellon, a huge bear of a man, picked up Bemet and gave him a great, big, tearful, hug.

Bemet for a few seconds did not think of the Siege of Concord and only thought of Mellon's hug. While that shouldn't have been surprising for him due to the mixed ethnicity of the Glorious Confederacy, perhaps the fact that it wasn't the appropriate time (in his opinion at least) caught his amazement.

"That's....appreciating and kind of you, now can you please let go of me now?" Then the large man, two meters in height, considered average for a person in Leafanistan. Consular Robert Bemet, being a foreigner, was of course in most cases, considered to be below average - he was 5'8 in the United States measurement system.

"I shall take the road to the parliament. And from there, I hope that they will protect me enough in time to get me and any other Loyalist officials out of this bloody mess that I can't crawl out of without help."

"Godspeed." saluted the Frenchman, who was soon after escorted by the men whom had been given orders by Mellon.

Mellon saluted back, and downed another beer, and began mixing more cocktails.

The Captain said, "We shouldn't take the main roads, they'll be mined and one of the first objectives for the Army, we need to stick with the side roads, and begin sighting out shelter for the night."

"Got that." Bemet nodded. "Do either of you have a spare gun-holder? In case I get captured, I'll look like an innocent bystander on the surface at least. I have my diplomatic immunity documents - a passport, maybe if I get captured, they will bring me to the CSRP heads and my country's government and the Leafanistani Prime Minister and her cabinet members could negotiate me out of this mess. If the CSRP army grunts aren't as mindlessly ruthless as Mellon expected."

The trio walked carefully on a pedestrian walkway, but not after Bemet had a very quick glance at the main roads. The cold environment helped enhance the little bombs' subtlety - whether the Loyalists of High Father layed it to prevent CSRP main battle tanks from gaining a victory without merit or CSRP aircraft layed cluster mines to effectively corner the Loyalists in, it didn't matter to the Frenchman. What mattered to the diplomat, was that he got out alive, to meet his superiors in the Foreign Ministry back at home, and his wife in Halberdgardia.

The Major scoffed again and responded, "Army guys are butchers, the split has been going on for years. Those old T-62s they are clearing out have been converted to Propaganda towers, commanders sit there broadcasting Internationale next to a 30mm Autocannon. They are beserkers, and now with the split 'official' so to speak they'll be worse. Naval and Marine command always had to hold back them back from raping and murdering. Looting is the most popular there. Now...they'll slaughter man, woman, child equally, raping and murdering.... Or maybe I've swallowed too much propaganda myself."

The Captain raised his arm and signalled a stop and he make 3 clicking noises. 3 clicks responded and the Captian smiled. Up ahead several soldiers appeared from behind a hastily put together made of buses and power poles. They waved their guns in the air and signalled for them to approach.

The Captain ran up as a Corporal jumped over the barricade and his eyes grew wide. The Captain proudly brandished his KF11 rifle and the Corporal jumped up and down. The Corporal couldn't be more than 16 and he was the commanding officier there. He took out his gun a KF2, a Leafanistani rebuild of the AK chambered for the 5.56 NATO. The others as young as him poured out from behind the barricade and they were carrying KF2s and SKSs. They were conscripts, just barely of age, recruited to fight. The Captain felt bad and hugged the young boy. He handed over his rifle to the kid and took his KF2. The Major did the same thing, and gave them their food supplies.

The Major turned toward Bemet and said, "We'll stay with them tonight, the Captain says he will take their inferior guns. They will need our ammo, we won't."

Concord, Leafanistan, 3 AM Local Time

The shells rained down with their chracteristic whistle, smashing block after block, the 155mm rounds tore apart buildings and the 240mm shells flattened blocks. The conscripts hid in their buildings and basements hoping they wouldn't be hit, including Consular Bemet.

The bombardment lasted an hour then suddenly stopped. However one more surprise was in for Bemet and his men. A massive 175mm shell smashed through the ceiling of their hideout and landed right next to them. The Major pulled out his service pistol at it, and told everyone to slowly leave the building. As they left the Major fired a shot at it. The bullet pinged off. The Major relaxed greatly and went toward the shell. He picked it up and twisted the top off. He removed the detonator and smiled. He waved it in the air as he said, "Guys! There is no igniter charge in this one. Its a dud!" They were greatly eased.

6750 Conscripts and Guards are dead
23 M51 Ishermans have been destroyed
14 BTR-60s have been destroyed
1 AVT-80G has been destroyed

Then they heard the small arms fire as the 3rd Army finally entered the city.

Parliament Building, Concord

High Father was surprised they didn't hit his HQ, though he suspected it was because they didn't wish to kill their fellow MPs. A scout picked up the Parliament building's internal phone and screamed over the PA: "HELICOPTERS, AA READY!"

The various AA guns turned toward the sky toward the incoming helicopters and fired. The Alligators and Crocs didn't waste a second returning fire. They were smashing the AA installations apart.

98 Soldiers are dead
23 Dual 40mm Guns are destroyed or inoperable

However on the bright side...

12 Mi-24 Hinds are destroyed or have crash landed
9 Ka-52 Helicopters have been destroyed
42 UH-60s have been downed

The enemy was in the streets and it now bogged down into gritty urban warfare in the 1 metre deep snow. AVT-80Gs engaged the outclassed M51 Ishermans with success first belonging to the Isherman's hidden outposts. But in open fighting it was no contest. Isherman after Isherman exploded killing all 3 of their crew or all 5 if there was no autoloader. Only a few AVT-80Gs were destroyed.

The Major urged Consular Bemet to hurry it up. The enemy could reach their position any minute now, and they were now hoofing it with inferior KF2 rifles. They were only 2 kilometres from the Parliament building.

McKagan reinforcements were 1.3 days away.
Loyalist reinforcements were .8 days away.

"Ma'am there is radiation over the outpost of Xi'an."

"So?"

"We lost contact with them 3 days ago.."

"The storm knocks out power lines and jams radios.."

"Yes but this looks like a Ripirius signature..."

"Fuck, ok, this is panic time, get the Confederate Guard and any reserve Airborne we have, get them to Roma now, close the roads and everything. No one is allowed in. Shit, the army has all the 'handling equipment' right?"

"Yes ma'am, should we try to get some from Soyuzolva after McKagan forces leave?"

"Do it, get a Dreadnought group down there, and then land some conscripts or anything. I want that base closed off until we can find the stuff ok?"

"Ma'am what about the people in Xi'an?"

"Writeoffs if this signature is correct, I'm guessing the Army Special Forces hit them. If it spreads they'll be secure with their handling equipment while we'll be royally fucked."

A Brigade of People's Guard meant to reinforce Concord has been diverted to stay in Roma and close off the Northern Xi'an Autobahn. A Confederate Guard regiment is being flown in and paradropped to support them.

A Dreadnought Battlegroup is on its way to the McKagan fleet to land a Division of People's Amphibious Guard and secure the base.

It will be hard to operate only in Concord, considering we have to operate in other areas just to get there. How about you lift that "bar" you have on us from doing that and give us a detailed list of the bases you don't want us in. We can do that, but giving such a large term is impossible to deal with.

McKagan was now on the offensive. The Marines pushed towards Concord with the MBT Division of 500 Arca I Couger's (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9906755&postcount=757) in the lead. Flanking was a regiment (150 tanks) of domestic McKagan Harris MBT's with their 120mm Main Guns. Another major force was the Arca II Ashurbanipal Light Battle Tank (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10343747&postcount=1106) division (400 tanks) that was running parallel to the Cougar's. With COV-12 Infantry Combat Vehicle's spread throughout to act as anti-tank units and infantry carriers; it was a highly powerful force.

I noted that your current seat of power in Concord has came under attack. Our Marines are still a few days from the city, but we can have DART's there within a few hours. My question is simple: Do you want out of the city? I've got to ask you that via McKagan doctrine, although I know you want to stay and fight with your men. All I need you to do is concur and we'll land a platoon of weapons company DART's to help stop the current attacks. With any luck we'll keep them back long enough to allow the MIMC and IMAF to stop the offensive.

[Off Xi-an Harbor Icecap]

RMV Kurora crashed through the semi-frozen waters near the icecap that surrounded the coastline and harbor around Xi-an. This Amphibious Assault Vessel had been sent North (along the coastline, actually) with a group of Frigates to scout for any possible artillery on the coastline. None had been discovered, and thus they hadn't fired. Because they hadn't fired the stealth signature of the massive hull was still semi-low.

They'd been getting some strange reports from the MCID in regards to Xi-an. Usually, regardless of the conditions, a whole town wouldn't just go quiet for no reason at all. There was always something going on. Satellites had been watching the communications lines as well, and it was hard to pick out a place where they were down. This had prompted the IMN to push North to check out the town and possibly set up a zone to send troops south into Concord.

In the amphibious bay of the ship a group of 6 DART's gathered around an LTAC. The LTAC was a recent addition to the MIMC Amphibious Forces. Basically an armored and armed LCAC, it was the pefect asset in a situation where Amphibious Forces needed to go over ice, land, and water.

"Ok, we're sweeping into the town through the harbor. We'll secure the docks and then check out anything else. If we run into trouble we are NOT a combat force. We're falling back to the TAC, running like hell and then leaving it to naval artillery." The tall, thin man that was obviously the leader began. It was Lieutenant Major Brown. LM Brown was fairly new to Special Operations but had graduated from his trial-by-fire early in his Amphibious Operations career.

"Ok, we're ready. Board up and get ready for terrible conditions."

The DART's all walked single file through the opening in the front of the craft. Then the naval crew prepared the craft to launch. It slid from the rear of the vessel, turned, and moved off. The DART's stationed in the forward of the ship peared over the windsheild and watched as the LTAC moved up onto the ice sheet and continued forward. With Hali-42's ready they prepared to be within visual range of the harbor. DART Amphibious Doctrine called for them to do a pass by of the harbor first, parallel, at a fair distance out in order to see if anyone was on the docks or the like.

As the LTAC drew closer the two forward DART's began to look through their scanning devices.

"Ok, buildings... docks. I don't see any explosi... what the FUCK is that." The shocked, somewhat terrified DART took the device from his eye and shook his partner. "PLEASE tell me I just didn't see what I think I did."

The other DART didn't say anything. He simply shifted himself and layed on the LTAC's padding to look into the town. "Erm.... I don't see anything. A police station... what am I suppo... is that a.... yes, that's a Kraven flag! I thought AMF sent all of those stupid fuckers back to hell!"

All the other DART's on the vessel suddenly focused their attention towards the two DART's at the front of the vessel. They really, sincerely were hoping that they hadn't heard what they thought they had, then they all started doing their own checks... they all saw the flags of the Capitol Police across the town.

"God fucking dammit, that fucking explains why no one's heard from the town," Brown said while ordering the driver to torn the LTAC around.

"Ok, we're going back to the ship. MISA will want to know about this."

Within 30 minutes they had returned to the ship, walked by the naval personnel without talking, and set up a conference center in the stateroom with the Commanding Officer of the ship, and the MISA Operations Center in Kurora.

Consular Bemet hadn't run faster in his life in this event. He managed to keep his head together so that he wouldn't do something irrational and probably cost his life. Watching out left and right for any danger that seemed to be everywhere and nowhere, and danger that could be anything and anyone, it took a herculean effort in willpower not to use his sub machine-gun.

He hoped that the rescue units were on the way, and knowing the snow-storm's condition, they should be: it was dying down. But unfortunately, the snow-storm was a double-edged sword - as most aircraft couldn't fly very well in such harsh conditions, so couldn't AAA (Anti Aircraft Artillery) combat units. When the snow-storm dropped, the double-edged sword would still be there: both aircraft and AAA combat units could operate again. While the choppers could arrive, the AAA manners would now be able to see with their eagle eyes once again....

Meanwhile at Port Stevens....

Two UH-75 "Knighthawks" and two DAS-12 "Swifts" - both choppers in utility transporation variant, had landed at the heliport at the Loyalist-controlled area of Port Stevens. Escorting them would be eight RAH-66 Comanche Helicopters, here they would refuel and gear up once more before making the daring trip to Concord.

We refer to ground forces, there are several roads leading north including to the Port of Zedison and Xi'an Port. Those are the two major areas you have been barred from operating in. Beware of captured Anti-Air batteries en route though. Initial reports say that MASER batteries have been captured on the south side of Concord.

We have yet to establish clear enough communication to route your message to High Father. Though rest assured he is fine.

Bravery's Call, Ohio-class Submarine, Off the coast of Xi'an Port

"Sir, transmission from the McKagan ships we are shadowing, it is a secure line."

"Don't touch it yet, ok, I want to launch a Cormorant UAV to take a peek at Xi'an, those Tiberium buggers are dangerous. Especially if it warms up too much, then the Emiliania Tiberius builds up, and BAM! Tiberian Bloom! And these things release gasses too. Which reminds me, we dive to maximum depth to destroy these things before we return."

"Yes, ma'am."

The McKagan ships would have noticed the Ohio-class now if they didn't know already when what at first appeared to be a misshapen missile flew out of the water. Suddenly wings extended from the ugly duckling and it soared into the and flew into the air. It was a Cormorant UAV built to be launched from a Ballistic Missile Tube and retrieved after it sank into the ocean.

It sailed over the town quickly and snapped pictures which were broadcasted straight to FleetCom. FleetCom would panic just as the McKagan sailors did when they spotted the Kraven flag. They also had another concern, the Tiberium.

The Cormorant quickly dived into the water and as it sank it went into neutral bouyancy. The Ohio just rose up from under it, and it slid back into the tube. The Ohio was ordered back to FleetCom.

Concord, Leafanistan, Parliament Building

The Major waved his arms in the air and the soldiers stepped back and let their ragtag group through the barricade. The Captain hugged Consular Bemet, "This is where we leave you, we have to defend the city, you will go, High Father will watch over you."

The Captain and the Major went to rejoin the line.

Consular Bemet was now being led by a Private toward the Parliament building with the Private humming the national anthem to himself while nervously playing with his service weapon. Soon Bemet will meet High Father.

Port Stevens, Leafanistan, Southeast Asian/Leafanistani Diplomatic Rescue Mission

As they refueled at the Heliport a woman flanked by two other officiers approached the highest ranking Southeast Asian officier. She stuck out her hand and said,

"I am Major Anna Stewart with the Air Force, I've been assigned to assist you in the recovery of our mutual friends, the various diplomatic people trapped in Concord. Currently I have 12 Mi-24 Hind-Ls configured for long range travel and a flight plan to Concord that will help us dodge the Army's fire. Trust me, you want me with you, or else if they don't find a friendly FoF signature on you, a Red Tidean missile will be up our mutual asses."

She handed the officer a flight plan showing a route that would link up with the supply line for the Concord reinforcements and then a northern detour to avoid Army fire and finally a landing zone at the Parliament building and Memorial Square.

We were forwarded a message dealing with the subject of captured anti-aircraft batteries. McKagan Marines are advancing very slowly towards Concord and we fear they won't be able to get there fast enough to do any great deal. Our best bet is to quickly attain air superiority and use our KLA-49 Close In Support UCAV's to destroy any and all resistance on the ground. However, we do not currently know the location of these MASER batteries apart from the regular AA systems. We can deal with normal systems but units such as these MASER's would cause too great of a problem to allow our air superiority to pay off as well as we need. If you could either transport us the coordinates of these batteries or sneak a Special Forces team through to work with our DART's on a Covert Commando Raid of these systems we will launch attacks immediately.

The storm is clearing, if you move from the north with a Southeast Asian/Leafanistani Rescue copter group you can bring in some commandoes before the 3rd Army gets too deeply into the city. High Father has a surprise for the captured AA systems. And he would be honored if you joined him in the raid.

"Greetings Major Stewart," saluted the airman, whom was of Indonesian descent and ranked Captain, "Captain Acawarman Adjeng, at your service. But you can call me 'Ack' as a nickname, if you can't pronounce it properly." he said in a joking manner.

The Indonesian was about six feet tall, and had a frame that was neither into the thin side nor the round side nor the muscular side. Just average, so when he slipped into ordinary civilian clothing, he looked nothing like a highly patriotic pilot on first appearance. But alas, appearances were deceiving, and if anybody knew Adjeng well enough, he had a great passion for helicopters and another passion that rivalled that helicopter love - his country and what it stood for.

After greeting the female pilot, Adjeng unfolded the cylinder detailing the strategy and gave a quick skim. "I'm glad that you would help us get Robert Bemet out of there - he is respected in our nation by many, not as high as the cabinet members themselves, but nonetheless, admired and well known. It'd be international and domestic outrage to lose him, especially to his wife."

Of course, attached is a flight plan and your FoF signature for the flight. Though no one we knows operates that type of Transport craft anyway. Based on your current position the optimal route to join the Helicopter wing has been generated. We have also altered the route to deal with a possible threat just east of Concord. We believe there is a detachment of the 3rd Army defending the town of Berkut.

Concord, Leafanistan, about 2 kilometres inside city limits

The enemy troops had gotten deeply into Lt. Fawks's battalions territory. Most of his men were dead except for the remains of his platoon. A medic, 3 rifleman, a light machine gunner and himself, an anti-tank rocket trooper. They were all hiding in an apartment building which had its roof blown off by a 105mm shell a few hours ago. He could hear them moving by, he was waiting for a target worth destroying with his remaining shells. He held his finger on a button that would trigger a dud 175mm that was rigged to be a mine. He peeked out and saw a column of AVT-103s, probably the lead group. He then heard singing softly the background. He smiled because he had a good idea of what it was. He ordered a private to check out the window on the south side of the building.

The private returned brimming with joy.

"I saw 3 AVT-95s followed by a command T-62. Its got a speaker tower and a 30mm autocannon and its following this road!"

Lt. Fawks knew he was going to get a good kill. A command T-62 means that it was occupied by a person of significant rank. Most likely a General, probably a Brigader General commanding a division. He listed as the singing got louder, soon it was intolerable. It was the standard propaganda and songs used to galvanize the troops.

"No more deluded by reaction,
On tyrants only we'll make war!
The soldiers too will take strike action,
They'll break ranks and fight no more!
And if those cannibals keep trying,
To sacrifice us to their pride,
They soon shall hear the bullets flying,
We'll shoot the generals on our own side.
So comrades, come rally,
And the last fight let us face.
The Internationale,
Unites the human race.
So comrades, come rally,
And the last fight let us face.
The Internationale,
Unites the human race."

Lt. Fawks let himself laugh a little at the song irony. They were the ones making war through their tyrant, Cynthia Ives. He cursed that name and peeked out again. He held his hand up and pushed down the button.

Inside Brigadier General Matt Reade was studying the map of the area when suddenly he was thrust 12 metres into the air, his bones shattered. He blinked once and fell to the ground dead.

Lt. Fawks let out a subdued "Yes!" along with the rest of his men. He then picked up his RPG-29 and aimed at the rear AVT-95 which was trying to locate them and hit them, with a stroke of luck, just at the commander's hatch. The superheated jet of metal cooked the gunner and badly burned the driver. The autoloader was turned on and two shells were in the middle of being loaded when it hit and the tank exploded again. The turret soared into the air about a metre and fell back down. The other AVT-95 was turning as Lt. Fawks and his platoon fled down the stairs. Two 90mm shells slammed into the upper story where they spotted the smoke and sent Lt. Fawks and his men down at least a flight of stairs. When they got back up they heard troops rallying to kill them.

A private smashed down a door and went to the fire escape. They leaped on the other building, ran and then hid there. They heard Army units rushing up the building and finding nothing. They breathed a sigh of relief. They were okay, for now.

He immediately saw someone emerge from the shower, a nude Angela was drying her hair and looked over at Shaun. Her ample chest bare to the eyes.

Jackson got up without much of an issue and walked past Angela without batting an eye. The others did about the same as Angela stood there drying herself off. She looked at Shaun and said, "See something you like there mister?"

The Tiberium Canines howled a cry of joy that they had won and beaten off the killers of their pack. They then went to rest in the growing Tiberium fields , perfectly concealed in the tall crystals.

The Capitol Police soon spotted signs for the "Scenic Village of Duane" 16 kilometres south and the village itself of 55 people snowed in by the storm.

[South of Port Stevens]

Major Rodgers walked down the gate of the docked Illusion Class Frigate.

Illusion Class Frigates are regularly used by MISA to support Special Operations away from the main battlegroup. This one was supporting several DART Teams and a Light Transportation Team consisting of 2 AVT-12's and 2 MH-75 Helicopters.

The Major walked out onto the dock. McKagan forces were landing and otherwise operating all around the dock he was on. His team was off helping some Marines set up a communications center in a small bunker just off the docks.

The weather was terrible despite the calls that it was 'getting better.' 'Getting better' meant that now the snow didn't need to be swept from the dock every 4 hours, only every 8.

He walked towards the end of the dock, towards land. There were several crates sitting here, probably used to store the communications equipment that had just been installed in the bunker. As he rounded the corner and turned off his iPod he was met by his Lieutenant.

"Hey, we're cleared for the High Father mission. The AVT is in the hangar, fueled up, and ready to launch. Are we done with the communications center yet?"

The Lieutenant glaced around for a moment.

"Yeah, they'll be here in a few minutes. Actually, I think they're coming now."

The personnel of the DART team all reboarded the Frigate and walked into the rear structure that housed the flight wing and a small arms armory. They already had their BDU-64 Battlesuits on, all they had to do was pick up their main weapons. Rodgers, as usual, took the KT-09 6.8mm Personal Defense Weapon. It operated much like a P90, just more advanced. Three of the DART's opted for Hali-42 Rifles, and the other two used KT-13 Tactical Sniper Rifles.

The AVT-12 the team was using had been specially fabricated just as a request from Major Rodgers. It was much quieter inside as a result. Made to carry in upwards of twenty soldiers; it left alot of room for supplies and the like between the six DART's. They had two crates of small arms ammunition, a crate of Heavy Weapons (namely, anti-tank and anti-air systems.) They spread out, and the AVT-12 lifted off. Rising into the air was much like a normal helicopter. Then it moved forward, felt like it was droping, and then climbed back to a normal height and flew ahead with it's engines at a completely horizonal position.

The Canis Tiberius heard them first but didn't react but soon they were dust, their crystals exploding and shattering. The Tiberium plant didn't fare well either, it was torn to shreds. The town was flattened. The crystals which were forming volitle chains exploded and melted. Soon a blackened slag was all that was left. And the radiation was perfect for Tiberium growth.

The crystals greedily sucked up the fallout turning blue and becoming the more dangerous Tiberium Vinifera and the small fern like outcroppings starting growing albiet more slowly than the green version. They were more radioactive than ever before. They first appeared as a little bump on the slag. Soon a blue fern rose over it with slag falling off. A few crystals were beginning to merge to form a Tiberium Cruentus.

The ice melted from the heat as the blast wave moved over the water.

Soon Tiberium Protists starting growing. They were Euglenoids and they spread quickly, growing into a thick net and causing a Tiberium Bloom. The sea was a vivid green near the blast area. The only thing keeping it from spreading further was the large amount of remaining ice.

Underground the radiation sped up the already obscene mutation and a sinkhole appeared as a "Vein Worm"'s mouth stuck out of the ground with ugly viens spreading around.

Animals nearby who were already changing of Tiberium poisoning were struck by the radiation and those who weren't vaporized or cooked screamed in agony one last time as there internal cell membranes broke and shattered. They collasped into a ball of protoplasm held together by a lipid reinforced outer membrane with calcic plates. These immature Viseriods began to roam the land, looking for Tiberium crystals to suck on.

Thanks for getting extra helicopters to back them up. We have to keep as low a profile as possible, and the refueling should end within five minutes now."

The Leafanistani Helicopters began warming up and finished fueling. Soon a few Alligators were in the sky waiting for the rest of the Southeast Asian and Leafanistani Helicopters to rise.

A soldier pulled his thick jacket around him even further, and scrunched his shoulders in, tucking his chin under behind the collar, pulled up high enough to reach just under his helmet's rim, which bore the markings of the 131st Assault Battalion, the first unit to touch Leafanistani soil. Or rather, Leafanistani snow. A small pile of the cold, wet stuff swirled around, spraying bits of itself on nearby soldiers, sailors, and workers.
"Keep it coming! Steady, Stead- Oh come on now!" Yelled one of the workers, trying hard to supervise the unloading of a wintertime-equipped truck, being pushed by at least 10 men, to no avail.
This was going to take a while.

[McKagan Amphibious Landing Zone, Port Delta, Command Area]

Around the small docks that McKagan had used for the landing several command aspects of the Task Force were being put into position. An Avisron Class Destroyer just off the coast was acting as the command base for General Johnson, the newly appointed Marine Commander.

"Sir, we've got odd reports all around the place. We've pulled out Amphibious Group back away from Xi-an, and sent in an SSN to watch the aftermath and possibly investigate. Apparently the Kraven. I don't know what the Capitol Police were doing here, but we should get someone up there to check them out. Not only that, but our satellites are picking up very weird readings out of the 3rd Army formations. It doesn't look... normal." The Lieutenant that made it a point to get the General briefs on various aspects of their mission every few hours sat back down.

General Johnson sat back in his chair, drinking some sort of fine (and expensive) drink produced in Triesa, McKagan. Before speaking, he put the drink down.

"Ok, here's what we're doing. Leafanistan is known for a Space Program and other research zones. Who knows what they've got laying around in labs that are now being blown to fuck. We're not taking any chances with some sort of weird stuff like this. Stop the MIMC advance and set up a defendable line. The airpower we've got will stop any quick offensive anyone could launch. We've got a DART team going to Concord, don't we? Update their mission statement while they're in the air. Put them on a fact finding mission. We'll keep them in the field for a few weeks and see what happens."

Johnson ended his statement again. Picking his drink back up, he listened to his Lieutenant, who was making notes on a PDA.

"What about the Kraven advance, they've moved south," the Lieutenant began, "They're just as important as any space slug could be."

The General hated the Capitol Police. McKagan had never engaged them, but he still hated them. There was a good chance that McKagan forces would be engaged by them if nothing was done, and it was better to get them before they made more of themselves. At least, that's how Johnson saw it.

"Get a DART force set up in recon mode somewhere along the coastline between Zedison and Xi-an Port. They'll stay hidden until we need them to swing in, but get that SSN in place to recon the area. We're going to figure out just what's going on before putting our doctrine into play."

The Lieutenant gave a quick nod and walked off into the Communications Center to begin issuing the General's orders. Within hours the various units would begin carrying those orders out.

Kana City, Southern Leafanistan

Cynthia Ives got out of the Hind which had dropped her off at the building newly designated as the Presidents' Palace in Kana City. She walked down the hallways examining the wallpaper and the hastily painted over signs of Northern rule in Concord.

She sat with both Presidents of Southern Leafanistan and began to talk. Their subject was the Civil War and what to do with High Father and their SWC allies. Within 8 hours the conference was complete and a tired Ives returned to the Hind and worked her way to a secret installation in the mountains in Inner Leafanistan. She had brokered a deal to create a temporary Alliance with the Alliance. When it was done with they would be the nation of the Greater Alliance of Leafanistani States and Southern Leafanistan would have full autonomy with the exception of military control which could be called up at any moment by the Central Government.

She had filled the gap in her armed forces and Xiao was getting ready to move in Marine air power.

Parliament Building, Concord, Leafanistan

High Father was about to leave Bemet when he heard it. The sound of a Helicopter over the building. Something that shouldn't be there. But it was. He turned around and gave Bemet a look of desperation and his guards began running toward the Parliament common area. A guard grabbed Bemet as an explosion tore through the roof and Army Elite Troopers descended into the building.

Confederate Guards opened fire onto the Elite Trooper's advanced Battle Suits but the 4.8mm MP7 rounds bounced off their suits. They were mowed down by KF13 "Vlad" 6.5mm armour piercing rounds quickly. High Father ran toward the centerpiece of the Common's Area, a massive seal of Leafanistan and he tore off the hammer and sickle. High Father threw the sickle at the closest trooper who was about to kill Bemet and his guard. The sickle implanted itself in the visor and blood shot out as the trooper tried to scream but collasped onto the ground. The other trooper turned toward High Father but he had lost sight of him. He looked up and a hammer slammed into his head crushing his head, it made a sickening crushing noise.

The remaining troopers were stunned by the speed at which it happened. High Father grabbed the headless troopers arm and opened fire on the remaining troopers with Confederate Guard support. The Vlad tore through the suit's weakpoints near the joints, shooting off limbs and heads. Finally, High Father threw the headless body while taking out the trooper's combat knife in one smooth motion. The knife glowed red as High Father heated it with his hands. Then he ran up to the trooper who was about to be struck by the body and stabbed him. The nearly molton knife cleaved through the Kevlar and Ballistic nylon and cut through the titanium alloy center. The trooper gasped once and collasped.

In less than a minute, an Army Special Operations group using a specially modified Blackhawk carrying 7 Elite troopers killed 6 Confederate Guardsmen, 2 of High Father's advisors and nearly everyone else. However, they all now lay dead or dying. The Confederate Guardsmen were stunned at the speed to which High Father dispatched the troopers and High Father turned around covered in blood, his leather gloves badly burned and his eyes a bright blue. He then fainted and dropped to the floor nearly silently.

The truck's engine sprang to life, a welcome sound to the soldiers of the 131st, which would lead the way on the Autobahn, apparently the only route to Concord. Finally, the journey could begin, and bored tankers moments before sitting around their tanks began to get ready.
The vehicles filled up, and a long procession of tanks, trucks, jeeps, and the small amount of APC's filed towards the Autobahn and beyond.
As the 131st and the 34th Armored began their journey, the rest of the force was unloading, meaning any help would be 2 days away, something the tacticians definantly did not want.

McKagan forces warned the civilians to the best of their abilities, fired warning shots before launching a major offensive, and only after every attempt at removing civilians from play was made did they attack with their full might. There was no other alternative to this action. McKagan policy doesn't call for the killing of civilians, and thus cannot be changed. If you wish to ban us from this theatre you may do so at any moment. However, that would result in McKagan withdrawing support from your forces and futhermore stop recognizing Leafanistan as a SWC member.

You would do well in relearning diplomatic skills and to step lightly in these types of situations. We understand in the snowstorm it was difficult to warn the civilians. Yet we did not detect radio transmissions trying to warn civilians of the threat. While we know the Army had taken up positions within the city there was no need to pound it from the sea. This is a much more PC war that we have previously dealt with.

There are two reasons for this, firstly, these are our citizens, the children of High Father. We cannot harm them if they wish to join us. Secondly, if the Alliance or the Reformists look like they have the moral high ground we will be crushed by overzealous nations who want to carve us up into massive colonies.

While the quickest path to victory is a strategic nuclear strike it isn't the best. At best it'll result in long standing tensions for centuries to come, and a cost of trillions to repair the damage. At worst they'll retaliate and we'll all be craters in the earth. We move gracefully and carefully.

We were under the impression that the rebels we were seeking to destroy would have spread propaganda about us and would have blocked any radio transmissions either with jamming technology or by simply not allowing radios to float through the civilian populace. Thus, a more direct means of warning civilians was required.

High Father laughed a bit, "You are Consular Bemet, I've thought about what happened to you. The rest of you friends made it this far and all worried about you. I'm glad you are fine." High Father nodded a bit and the kid responded by saluting and walking back to the line. "They nearly worship me as a God right? That is why I never accepted that promotion to General, or Colonel, I just said Captain is the most I can accept. I'll earn my stars like every other soldier out there, with my own merits, not because I founded this nation. I try to discourage thinking like this, but I have an idea of where it is going."

He nodded toward an advisor.

"I've gotten word that a wing of aircraft is going to brave the remainder of the storm and try to reach you. You and the rest of your staff should be safe within a few hours. I must leave, good bye Consular Bemet."

High Father began to talk with his advisor again and walked down the hallway.

Bemet was surprised by the Leafanistani de-facto leader of the Glorius Confederacy. He never knew that the benevolent dictator possessed telekinetic skill, let alone (before he watched the emergency announcement) the fact that he possessed the strength of a few several dozen groups of full-grown men. But that didn't really matter now, as the dictator had saved his life (along with his guardsman's life) from the CSRP elite minions.

When High Father collapsed, Bemet called "Is there a doctor in the house?" in his ancestors' native language: French.

A man who was wearing a flak jacket and casual clothing ran up to High Father with a medic and began doing a standard doctor's routine on High Father. He nodded his head and said, "He hasn't slept in 3 days, he has spent hours crying over the loss of his friends and his children, and he pulls these kind of stunts. We'll need to get him some rest, or else he'll work himself to death."

With that a few conscripts picked up High Father and carried him off to the improvised infirmary in the press room.

The AVT-12 Transport passed into Concord airspace and started to lower in altitude. Citing that they didn't know where to land, and the fact that rebel commandoes may have infiltrated the city, the pilot decided to land outside the city, in the north, behind a grove of some sort of trees and a hill that would keep them hidden. The crewchiefs and gunners set up a perimeter zone around the vehicle. As they did this the six man DART team exited the vehicle, armed with their personal weapons, and entered the city. They knew where the High Father might be, and thus headed there. They then, after reaching the outskirts of the city, broadcast a message into the city.

"McKagan Special Forces on North side of city. Please advise as to location of high father. Must talk."

Two Capitol Police soldiers, pounded up a hill 16 kilometers south of The Former Port Xi'an, one was carryinga large metal crate, the other a large back pack that made him look like he was going fishing, several minutes and several hundered yards later they were at the top of the hill, placing the metal case and the back pack on the ground the two went to work.

The Radio Transmitter began to pour out hundereds of thousands of kilowats worth of power, sending its tranmission to every radio in Leafistan, the power of the Transmitter would override any Radio in Close proximity, and interfere with others further away... "The People of The World have been Blinded By Corrupt Governments and Evil Dictators, Only the Protection of The Benevolent Father will ensure that The People of the World are truely safe..."

Other propaganda were rousing Speeches from various Kraven Rallies....

In an attempt to stop more submarine sneak attacks like the one on the Willink Intelligence Ship Carptha, the Imperial McKagan Navy launches a massive new force of 1 Edge Class Aircraft Carrier, 30 Illusion Class Frigates, 10 Avisron Class Destroyers, and 20 Sultan Class Attack Submarines towards Leafanistan.

At the same time the McKagan Central Intelligence Division parks satellites over all known reformist naval bases to watch for any new submarine launches. The effectively limits their ability to launch "sneak attacks" to the number of submarines they have at sea now.

[Somewhere South of Port Xi-an]

The medium sized Soviet Scoutcar moved through the cold, frozen wilderness of Leafanistan. To anyone passing by, which was unlikely, it could belong to any of the various Leafanistani factions that are fighting themselves. However, that wasn't the case.

As the Scout Car broke through a snow dune and slid to a stop in a concealed position, Major Alisha Sherman of the McKagan Imperial Security Agency "CODEX" Division exited the rear of the vehicle with her KAM-12 Personal Defense Weapon. She took a look around, she didn't see anything. She walked up to the top of the ridge they were parked behind, took a discreet look, and realized nothing was in the general area of the Scout Car. They were safe, and well on their way to completing the mission assigned to the clandestine unit.

That mission? Establish the Capitol Police as a McKagan Tactical Ally. A tactical alliance was simple. Coverlty McKagan would supply funds and weapons/technology to the Capitol Police. In return the Capitol Police would carry out a few missions MISA needed done effciently and without McKagan overt assistance.

The plan was simple, although satellite recon of the area had pointed out several CP Sentry Emplacements around the radio transmitter. This was both a good thing and a bad thing. The sentries obviously would have a video link to the CP HQ, and they obviously would have a shitload of ordnance prepared to put into anyone messing with them.

So, the plan was simple. The six man team stealthed to the transmitter and set up a peremeter around it. This was a simple part. On a hill/bank/thing overlooking the position two of the team members armed with KMT-39 Recoiless Rifle's looked to destroy the sentry guns if anything went awry.

Two plastic explosives were set, too. At ninety degree angles to the sentry position, the plan was unfolding perfectly.

Then, suddenly, one of the explosives went off. Not destroying anything, or meant to, it was simply to draw attention away from the other CODEX operaters. They moved in and set up a poster with a simple message on it.

"Need to talk in person. Deal to make. Lightly armed. No threat."

After retreating to a safe position the CODEX Engineer detonated the other explosive, which was directly behind the poster by several hundred meters. With any luck the sentries would turn back to that flank, see the poster, and contact would be established.

Without fail, the Sentry Guns swivled into position, Large Caliber autoguns opened fire, their gatlin barrels span up to speed before laying down a torrent of lead, the bullets tore up the ground around the explosion, as the sentry guns began to trace a line around the hill, switching between possible targets... until it spun around, the Camera's spotting the sign, before it was promptly torn apart by the Sentry Guns... the Torrent continued for a few more seconds before stopping, the sentry guns automaticaly reloading a second clip and awaiting for any other signs of Enemy soldiers...

However, The Reichmarshal had been watching the events unfold from his VTOL craft that was well hidden in a darkened forest, its Crew stood outside on guard, while Capitol Police guarded the out at the Perimeter defense, where machine gun nests had been set up along with Lazer Trip wires and other silent alarm systems...

"Interesting, Send VTOL 2 across to the Transmitter... "

"Understood"

Unfortunatly for Mackagan, the reponse from the Sentry guns would probably make the soldiers think Kraven wasn't interested in talking at all... but that was completely wrong... A VTOL Gunship was on route....

"Fucking Jesus!," Sherman yelled while taking cover behind the snowbank she was stationed at. "Red's, return fire, dammit. Everyone else, to the Scout Car!"

The two KMT-39 Recoiless Rifle armed Operators started unloading their weapons against the sentry guns. After firing nearly a dozen of the rounds designed to take out tanks they started to fall back, well behind the other soldiers that were nearly to the scout car, they had the cover of a single CODEX Operator who stayed behind with his SMG to cover them.

Waiting for the rest of her fireteam to mount up, Sherman ordered the Stinger Missile Launcher to quickly be put in place on top of the Scout Car. There was a good chance that any localized air assets would be put to use against them on their way back to the safety of the MISA Operated Corvette.

The Scout Car was actually armored better than the other, authentic versions of itself. It had armor "slabs" under its skin, almost like the ones from the Stryker.

It would be an interesting few moments, indeed.

On the Horizon, the distinct 'Thump' of a very large Rotary Gunship began to permiate across the land scape, the blades slicing through the air making a very distinct sound, one that was unmistakeable...

The Gunship was flying low towards the tree tops, before coming in for the run...

"Forward, This is Gunship 2, Beta, we are approaching target zone, awaiting Advice"

"Advise, Engage Hostiles, Gun Sentry units have been taken out..."

"Confirmed.."

as the large, Military Black Helicopter swooped low from the tree line, it immediatly opened up with a tirade of unguided rockets, before switching to the dual 25mm rotary cannons, bullets began to twist and snake their way towards the Scout car...

The Door Gunners slid open their Doors, revealing a .50cal heavy machine gun, the Gunners Red Optics peircing the dark night sky as the helicopter began to bank...

It continued to approach, until its 30mm cannon went to work, then the Door Gunner facing the scout car also began to strafe the armoured car...

The Scout Car took some heavy hits from the various ordnance's being thrown its way before finally retaliating. The Stinger Missile Complex on top of it fired off a heat seaking unit, and then several moments later another, and another every few seconds.

The slow team with the large rifles had been technically missed. A rocket had hit, killing one of the main heavy weapons personnel, but the SMG Operator had picked up his weapon. Now the helicopter was under attack for a few moments not only by Stinger Missiles, but by anti-tank rounds flying through the air in its general direction.

The last two team members took a chance at getting near the beseiged vehicle, entering through the rear before raising the door.

The SMG Operator took severe shrapnel hits before getting there. He's alive, but injured fairly well.

Regardless, the driver speeds off. A few moments later, should they make it, the car will be sliding across the ice sheet and towards the Corvette that droped them off and was providing their base of operations. It had heavy anti-air assets, and would destroy anything to their rear. The best part? It was a stealth vessel - so there was a good chance the Capitol Police wouldn't know of its existance.

The Door Gunner facing the Recoiless riflemen, quickly brought his machine gun to bear, raking the gunners position with hundereds of rounds...

before the Craft begun to give chase, swooping incredibly low to the road, its twin 25mm rotary cannons carving up the road, as the huge rotars kicked up snow and other debry as the Gunship continued to open fire...

[OOC: We'll just say the last original recoiless guy was killed before making it to the Scout Car.]

IC:

The Scout Car continued to have rounds bounce off it. The Stinger Missile man had fired off nearly two dozen missiles by the time the car was moving at a high rate of speed. For the most part, however, the composite army inserts were keeping most of the rounds out of the vehicle. They were beginning to lose their value, but they were still there.

The Scout Car, however, WAS getting closer to the Corvette. Only a few miles now, it continued forward with Stinger Missiles continuing to fly from its turret and towards the enemy helicopter. At this angle the helicopter would take any possible hit square on the front side, perhaps making the damage more effective and the missile hard to shoot down, at that.

Off the coast of Leafanistan the massive spear of the McKagan offensive moved into position. It wasn't a massive Super Dreadnaught, but rather a fleet of guided missile submarines (SSGN's) loaded out with land attack missiles. They weren't the standard, run of the mill missiles though. Avalt Security International, McKagan's largest Aerospace contractor, kept massive reserves of those. These were, however, highly effective (and expensive) EMP missiles designed to destroy enemy air defense systems.

A RADAR, by its very definition and means, is impossible to armor against EMP. If it can generate a RADAR wave to find oncoming craft, it is possible to destroy it with an EMP. That said, the majority of the reformist military appeared to be using Soviet Bloc style assets. Assets which had designs older than dirt that sometimes didn't include the ability (or at least the default) of being EMP protected.

With all these things in mind the massive McKagan submarine fleet that had stealthed into position whilst being guarded by a group of attack submarines started firing off its payload of missiles. Usually these attacks were only a few hundred, but this time it was different. McKagan Tactical Air Command (MTAC) was asking the navy to destroy the whole air defense grid in one shot. To do that, the used the massive number of 7000 missiles.

The missiles targeted a massive area. From just below Concord, they fanned out and stretched into the southern part of the nation, guessing that that area would be heavily defended as well and would perhaps hold vital supply lines.

16-03-2006, 00:22
The recent weeks worth of combat in Leafanistan had proved very odd for the McKagan forces. They were still forced to present a diplomatic, neutral force. Even while they were doing that, the IMAF and IMN attacked reformist positions. Frankly, there just wasn't anything for the soldiers to DO. The fear of a massive tiberium attack against McKagan ground forces was too upsetting for commanders to risk soldiers where they weren't needed.

That was soon to be changed, however. McKagan currently had 100,000 Marines in the nation. They were based mostly around heavy armored units and artillery. Designed to fight to Concord. That was... before the tiberium threat. In order to counter this the folks back at MIDD had quickly put into place a genius plan to eliminate the thought of massive McKagan casulties. The heavy tanks that would be quickly destroyed by tiberium were pulled out of the nation. To replace them, masses of quick and agile fighting vehicles which wouldn't be stuck as easily.

Another problem was the fact that the Kraven Capitol Police were likely building a fabrication shop in Leafanistan. This simply wasn't acceptable. Calls to engage in "search and destroy" missions were already being made, and finally they were answered.

In Libertad, the massive McKagan Province known mostly for its vast IMAF "reserve" forces hidden in massive bunkers and just-as-vast fuel output; an amphibious assault group of 13 Stewart Class Amphibious Assault Vessels pulled into the docks.

It began loading up. With massive groups of COV-12 Armored Assault Vehicles loading into the ships along with some 10,000 infantry, they were set to make an assault on the Kraven Corporation.

Outside the city a fleet of 4 Avisron Class Destroyers and 8 Illusion Class Frigates met up. Along with 6 Sultan Class Attack Submarines this fleet organized itself into a force to protect the amphibious assault group.

Where was this group headed? What was left of Port Xi-an would serve as a perfect entry point. It had been attacked by a tactical nuclear warhead and thus the icecap had been melted there. That also ensured that no one would be left in the city without NBC protection - no civilian fighting.

Within weeks the Marines would be launching their first full blown offensive of the war. An operation that would be seperate from the rest of the war by all means, and not involve the reformists.

OOC: With your mighty intel you seem to have forgotten the Algae Tiberius would have taken root first in Xi'an. You want to run into it or just try a new strategy?

Concord, Leafanistan

It was absolute chaos, the regular army troops with their KF11 rifles were shocked that the older AK-104 chambered for the 7.62mm and the KF9's chambered for the 7.92mm were better than their small calibre, armour piercing rounds. The Tiberium creatures required a powerful hit to take them down.

Visceriods simply absorbed the small rounds and healed over the tiny wounds made by the KF11 and KF13. The larger AK and KF9 rounds shredded them. Tiberium Fiend were unfazed by the small rounds as they simply shattered their Tiberium outercoat and the few that entered were absorbed by the Tiberium. The larger rounds smashed larger chunks off and took down the Fiends faster. The same was true for the Floaters, the small holes didn't penetrate their outercoat hard enough to cause them to deflate. The larger rounds created larger holes and stayed inside the Floater and weighed it down.

Soon regular troops threw down their KF11 and KF13 rifles and used the loyalist guns with the larger guns. Small calibre AA were brought up in the form of .50 cal and 14.5mm guns which truly destroyed the Tiberium creatures. The regulars with the support of experienced loyalist forces and the Confederate Guard held the front line as the rear guard dug trenches and defensive positions.

The Army meant to relieve them were tied up with a massive Tiberium-based assualt. They hadn't expected NBC warfare, nor had they expected the combination that Tiberium posed. Soon to their terror Vein Worm viens burst from the roads and shredded vehicles and anything weighing too much leaving infantry confused that they were able to survive. If only the cloud cover would lift for airstrikes against the central worm itself to be hit.

A large high-pressure system was on the move from the east to the west carrying with the double edged sword of spring conditions. The cloud cover would lift with the high winds and the ice would disappear. However, Tiberium spread faster that way. It was truly hell on earth.

Parliament Building, Loyalist HQ for Concord, Leafanistan

High Father lay in the infirmary tied to various machines. Tetracycline had been administered to try to stave off an unknown infection plaguing his tired body. While he was enhanced by the Soviet Confederation, the enhancements were trail and error and didn't take into consideration the extreme stress of real combat. His immune system was overtaxed and was failing.

The doctors waited around him as suddenly the heart meter spiked and the EKG spiked. High Father opened his eyes. Everyone cheered but the doctors found something odd. His eyes were changing hue from green to blue rather rapidly. They watched as the pigments in his eye moved and moved until they settled into a bright unnatural green that contrasted widly with his natural brown. The doctor stared at it and then suddenly gasped. A sign of an epiphanny, he ran back and forth collecting test data and then grabbed a Geiger counter and watched as it clicked wildly. The doctor made a grim diagnosis, Tiberium poisoning.

The Confederate Guardsmen flinched, something very odd for these special soldiers to do. The nodded and came back with the remaining stocks of inhibitant and strapped High Father down. It was very odd, High Father was asleep, in deep REM according to the EKG but his eyes were wide open, but not reacting to anything. They injected the inhibitant with Isonaizid and ethambutol to counter the growth of the cell walls of Tiberium saturated cells. A doctor performed a biopsy and began to work on it. It was grim in the infirmary. Even the injured patients stared at High Father staring up into space, their groans silenced as they watched their great leader lie in a bed.

Unknown

High Father opened his eyes to a strange new world. It was dark, but there was light, from Tiberium crystals. He watched as stars moved around in the sky, seemingly taunting him. He looked around and suddenly punched out a crystal. He could have sworn someone else was around, probably a mutant, then through that one he saw. Then he saw what he had just punched, a face, a very familiar one, with the familar Tiberium veined hair and the pale outer cell walls, and green eyes. They he realized what he had hit, his own reflection. High Father jumped backwards and that was all he saw. He looked at his own bleeding hand, red blood, but with a greenish tint in the light. He watched as the blood coagulated and was absorbed back into his skin.

Fiends gathered around him and bowed. He then heard voices in his mind. Ideas, an alien language. Then one word he knew...Scrin. The name of the race that sent Tiberium to earth. He saw the Tacitus, the device that contained the secrets of the Scrin, and Tiberium. He looked at the fiends, the mutated dogs that had their backs covered with Tiberium crystals. He broke one off and looked at it. Watched the crystal refract in the light and the lights in the sky dancing. They were all heading south, south toward a person. A massive one, one he couldn't make out. As he walked closer the Fiends growled, hissed, barked spraying out tiny Tiberium crystals while doing so. Then he saw it was clear, Cynthia Ives, standing on the Facist Alliance leaders, and doing something. Chaining Fiends, Visceriods and Mutants, forcing them into gold cages. Then it was gone and it was pitch black. The dream vanished.

OOC: Jolt ate my new posts.

McKagan I had this huge detailed reply about the Tactical N.I. that coordinates the nation's air defense is working with local Tactical N.I.s to overload the large RADAR arrays along the coast and tune them down to microwave and discharge at 120%, frying control boards and costing commanders 30 minutes to replace them and get them operational again. "A wall of microwave radiation" meant to destroy the missiles there. Then the Red Tidean defenses opened up with MASER battery support. The smaller installations will open up with RADAR coordinated FLAK guns and smaller gattling cannons with no MASER support. The last line of defense is usually a 25mm Autocannon.

Your missiles if spread across the South would be about 2 per installation. There are a lot of AA and RADAR installations around Leafanistan and DARDIS and his local CABALs will want to shoot down every last missile.

:( I liked that post.

[OOC: You're going on the assumption that the missiles are targeting only a single installation each. They're set to airbust similar to a nuclear warhead, thus covering a massive area. As for Port Xi-an, I know about the Tiberium there. I'm going to have the MCID discover how deeply rooted it is sometime while the fleet is en'route. That said, this RP is turning more and more to everyone fighting some unstopable sci-fi stuff than it is the Leafanistani Civil War. Could you PLEASE let the MCID, who has a perfect sample of it, make some ground on a viable means of fighting it? If not we're going to have issues.]

[Northern side of Concord, Leafanistan]

Major Rodgers rounded the corner with his team in tow. They were all moving in a very tactical stance - him on the other hand, walking with his sniper rifle on his back and SMG held on one arm.

"Sir, we've got a problem," the crew cheif who met him in the hatch to the AVT-12 helicopter said. "Tiberium creatures are flooding into the streets of Concord. I recommend we get off the ground NOW," he said while bringing up the rear hatch just behind the last DART to board.

Major Rodgers sat down in one of the bucket seats and began to question the motives of MISA for pulling them out. "So, they must have an idea for something for us to do. Do we have anything in our inbox," he said while checking his SMG's ammo clip and everything else that went along with mounting and unmounting from field operations.

"Just got one in, sir," the Crew Chief said while looking at a laptop strapped to a raised shelf like structure that folded out of the wall. "IMNAF has a wing gassed up and ready to go off of an Edge off the shore. The MCID has the coordinates for the Parliamant building since it's such a landmark. They had it mapped before the massive snowstorm. We're supposed to fly into the town and designate the big worm thing in relation to its position from the Parliament building."

The AVT-12 lifted off. Now it had a very secured location to operate from. Within minutes it would be over the building. With advanced anti-missile systems scanning the horizon for any possible threat, the unit tried to hug the ground enough to keep RADAR from picking it up.

Then it hit Rodgers. We can aim that LASER without even leaving the vehicle. I'm strapping myself in and waiting until we land somewhere. Effectively having nothing left to do in this mission, he pulled the visor on his battlesuit down and pressed a few buttons on the command pad. Within moments he was listening to his favorite Hair Grunge band out of Triesa, McKagan.

The AVT-12 banked into the city. Now just a few minutes away from LASER designating the worm for its ultimate demise.

Skies above Leafanistan

The McKagan missiles ran into DARDIS's net and were shorted out, as many as could be taken down at that high altitude were attacked, but the inner regions didn't fare as well. Anti-Ballistic Missile defenses didn't factor in EMP weapons and their interception had been limited by the Civil War. Slighly more than half made it through the net onto their targets. The explosions shorted out stations all over Leafanistan but mostly in a corridor about 100km wide leading most of hte way from the sea to Concord. McKagan had cleared a path.

Parliament Building Temporary Infirmary, Concord, Leafanistan

The EKG machine beeped erratically and High Father moaned a bit. The antibiotics were working well surpressing the urge to turn into a visceriod though the doctors were facinated at the slow growth of the cells even with heavy treatment. His readings were at deep REM sleep, but his eyes were wide open and unmoving. Something not right being it was Rapid Eye Movement Sleep.

High Father moaned again, this time louder, a doctor increased the morphine drip slightly but the EKG machine spiked again. The REM sleep was heavily disturbed. Then suddenly the machine went wild as High Father suddenly started twitching wildly on the machine. The doctor quickly registered it was as a full seizure as High Father began to foam at the mouth. He tore into the drug cabinet knocking off bottles left and right searching for the drugs to help control it. As he did nurses and medics tried to catch the bottles rolling around on the table. Finally the doctor found the drugs and administered them. High Father flopped back down on the table.

Soon the EKG machine was quiet again as High Father lay in his coma.

Inside the massive command bunker/skyscraper/massively expensive thing IMAF was blowing Next Generation Strategic Bomber money on; a few Generals sat around a table in a semi-dark room. In the center of the room a massive blue "square" represented Leafanistan. McKagan assets were marked on it. Along with those of the reformists and loyalists.

It was showing three hour old information - before the McKagan missile attack. Another layer of color on the representation represented the known AA RADAR field. Then the MCID Satellite passed over Leafanistan. Half of that colored area disappeared from the shoreline all the way to Concord.

[I]"Sir, our attack did exactly what we expected it to, as you can see. We've got that giant worm thing in downtown Concord that we should probably take care of... do you want me to launch a Vala in there?" The General commanding field operations for the 9th Composite Wing operations in Leafanistan sipped on his drink.

"Yeah. Load it out for multiple targets though. We may find something else while it's on its way.."

Several moments later a flight of 8 KLA-32 Vala Multi-Role Fighters launched from the runway in Libertad under the cover of night. The flight went to its tactical altitude and the flight computer set to fly the plane down the corridor opened up into the heart of Leafanistan

The flight Officer, Major Jack Carter, sat back in his seat. His job was done for the next few hours. He flipped his iPod on a channel that would allow the plane to wake him up with any alarms or any radio chatter from the other planes in the formation.

The eight (8) KLA-32's were moving towards their targets in Concord a few hours after launching from Libertad. The weather so far had been suitable, at least over the ocean. As they moved inland, over the Leafanistani coastline, the weather definately appeared to be worse - but not bad enough to effect the all-weather fighters and their expertly trained pilots.

The pilots - none of who which had flown actual combat missions - all felt a bit of worry as the ocean below them was replaced by plains... and then mountains and various other landscape. None of them actually expected the reformists to fire at them. Most of the eight pilots didn't even expect the reformists would SEE them. There was the distinct possibility, however. And thus the pilots were all ready to eject into the harsh wilderness of the Leafanistani tundra.

Another half hour passed and the pilots found themselves bearing down on Concord - a city torn to pieces by both internal conflict, some weird plant thing, what swarm of what appeared to be a human/dog hybrid zombie creatures, and just about anything else a random person could pick out from the mess of things below.

Eventually the wing had found itself into the area at which the dropping of its AJDAM's would be effective.

Major Carter opened his radio transmitter and sent a message not only to the other pilots in the squadron but to the ground. He had always invisioned making himself into some sort of character, if not a legend, amongst the IMAF community in a bombing raid just like this. It was his chance - he began to talk.

"To all those who doubted that IMAF would make its way here - this is for you. Big giant plant worms things, begone!"

The radio was quickly turned off - signifying the start of the operation.

Three planes in the formation opened their doors. The planes all carried 2000lbs. worth of ordnance. For this operation it had been rated at 8 250lb. bombs per plane. This equalled 24 250lb. bombs falling towards earth targeted at the worms and their "nest" area.

While they did this the rest of the formation stealthed around the skies above Concord. The few air superiority assets in the formation taking a back seat to ground supression. These assets, usually Air-To-Ground-Missiles, were deployed to ensure that the minute a hostile position opened up on the IMAF planes - the IMAF planes could take them out of play.

The next communication put out of the squadron was simple.

"Ok - we're done here. Spread out on the way out of this corridor. MCID says the reformists have Red Tide built plasma weapons wired to take out enemy formations. That's why we're not going out of here in a formation..."

Perhaps the most critical asset in the Leafanistani theater became RMV Chinese Democracy. This was a multi-billion USD intelligence vessel. Learning from the mistakes of the doomed Willink vessel - this cruiser sized vessel had several secrets for remaining unseen. It tracked everything happening in Leafanistan. Most importantly - it would record the exact location of (and any future movements) of anything that fired at the IMAF squadron. This meant that if a train based system was used again it would effectively give away much more information that just where that train went - but where it resupplied and refueled.

While the drama went down in the sky above Concord a great many political questions were up in the air. If the reformists fired on what had been identified as an IMAF flight attacking not them - but a natural biohazard in Leafanistan - there was a good chance that McKagan wouldn't go to the table as early as the reformists (and anyone else on the ground in Leafanistan) would like.

The planes did their flyby and ground pounders cheered and roared as the worm's body was destroyed rendering the tendrils dead. Soon they could clean up the tangled mess the worms left behind. Meanwhile back at the diplomatic table they had reached a cease-fire agreement for the Leafanistani continenent. All Leafanistani forces are to stop engaging each other except in self-defense all over the continent.

The message was sent out on general frequencies available for all ears to hear as the gears of diplomacy turned.

With the threat of a Capitol Police assault or a second Tiberium incursion that is not a risk we here are willing to take. The Army will remain and hold its position and begin the removal of Tiberium crystals and the inhibition of the plants that spread them.

We here at Sierra Visions cannot maintain production levels of the PABA Inhibitant with its Xylenium Extract (tm) to support orders from the various factions across our once united nation. We are using you as an outlet, following privitization enacted under High Father, to help make an open contract to all McKagan-owned firms. We are willing to offer a contract to produce Tiberium Flora Inhibitant for export only to Leafanistan where we will buy it and pay 9% more than its manufacturing cost for a 9% profit on each decalitre sold.

That is all. Thank you for considering our offer.

Outskirts of Concord, Leafanistan

The Loyalist troops sat nervously next to the stone-faced Reformists. The Army had sent in their best with some local conscripts as cannon fodder, while the Loyalists summoned the internal security agency, the Confederate Guard and various conscripts. They sat in their trenches with ancient AK-74s and AK-104s, their high calibre rounds much more effective than the lower-calibre KF11 and KF13 rifles.

The ground shook a bit as McKagan aircraft bombarded the worms. A few hours later the tendrils were clearly shriveled up and the men in the trenches kicked and stomped them with glee.

Soon vehicles very clearly marked Confederate Army began arriving on the scene, better suited workers with P99 sidearms began to shovel up the tendrils into the vehicles which were producing a large amount of smoke. Soon a red light flashed and a barrel marked toxic waste was produced and a well guarded 6X6 truck carried off the barrels. The vehicles were also under heavy Reformist guard and the loyalist troops stayed away. They seemed to be cleaning up the Tiberium mess, and a few troops were spraying with inhibitant. As they reached farther and farther from Concord they started ascending the mountains, which were covered in Tiberium toward the road leading to Xi'an Port. Collecting Tiberium and leaving inhibitant in their wake.

Little did anyone realize where it was going. The trucks were down the Autobahn, using outer routes to avoid the main cities and moving in a heavily guarded convoy. They originally went to Soyuzlova but that was gone. They went down to Fort Hall, where the barrels were opened, their sealed contents placed in crates marked "Emergency Aid, Solvents, Toxic!" and placed on train cars for their final destination, far within Inner Leafanistan. A facility known as Fort Q for the storage of radioactive materials.

While it did do that in reality the Tiberium waste was moving again, the biological waste went to a deeper section in the Fort Q facility, a unmarked series of caves marked, 'Fokker's Peak Facility' for reprocessing to extract the various Tiberium enfused metabolitic products of the creatures.

The crystals themselves left again, via train to Sceptre Mountain Nuclear Waste Facility to begin refining Tiberium and extracting the valuable minerals from it and leaving the remaining pure Tiberium crystals to be incinerated and turned into their constituent silca and carbon components. Soon a slightly radioactive soot was all that was left of the once deadly crystal.

Remains of Soyuzlova Coastal Artillery Base, Leafanistan

The Confederate Guard and Naval Special Forces sifted through the remains, keeping everything under wraps until they finally found what they were looking for. Inside an ammunitition bunker, under tons of dangerous undetonated 155mm rounds they found a hidden door. Once a team entered they found rack upon rack of gold bars marked Au-TI***** (stars being various numbers) and silver bars in the same arrangement. Soon the precious metal bars were beign carried up using a human chain, they shone brightly for all to see in a small pile as trucks went back and forth to carry the bars to the barges which would be transported to Port Stevens for Naval Command to assess.

We are definately interested in aiding our Leafanistani business partners in the industrial production of the PABA Inhibitant. Our industrial base is going through an upgrade at the moment, however. We will be able to start production very soon with it growing as the upgrades near completion. Currently we are looking into designating a block of our industrial center in Triesa to the emergency production of this chemical.

There are certain factors that make this deal a complicated one, though. What price would you suggest for such units? Understandably we need to make a profit - but because this is a terminating contract and we will be bound not to sell it outside of Leafanistan we will require a large down payment to make up for converting a very valuable plant into a chemical zone.

The inhibitant is a modification of a commercial antibiotic that was found to be effective against Tiberium flora and fauna. They use the same metabolic channels as mycobacterium and have a similiar cell wall, but also interesting parallels to fungi.

That is a question for our scientists not our businessmen. Currently we want you to sell it to us for the price of 260 USD per decalitre (23.40 USD profit on each decalitre sold). It costs less and less to produce it over time until the price drops. The first pilot plant will probably only turn a minor profit until it has been fully integrated.

We are willing to send 140 technical advisors and 10 administrators to help your people build such a plant. Along with a $45 million US down payment to help modify a commercial antibiotic plant for this production.

The train line to Concord was nearly completely rebuilt, it was rerouted around a rather large crater created by an Air Force bomb, and an Army train was dragged off for scrap by a recovery train. The hole in the roof of the Parliament building was repaired by a series of rebars and grancrete. The minor mortar holes were filled in with plaster. The Leafanistani Coat of Arms was repaired and the blood stained Hammer and Sickle was replaced and cleaned. The tables were placed in preperation. And AVT-80G tanks and the much less common AVT-97R tanks kept watch. Guards were doubled and trenches dug. This was going to be the thing that united Leafanistan, and nothing was going to go wrong.

McKagan didn't want to risk anything going wrong at the conference. Of course, they did want to carry on the success they've been having in attacking mutiple targets. At this time it would be best to keep the peace for a while - not that they were going to be able to stop the vast operation anyway.

We're interested in sending a delegation to Concord for this upcoming conference. We still fear that the Capital Police will attempt to cause problems. Right now we have a low level McKagan Imperial Defense Department official ready to move into the city. He'll have a security unit of twelve soldiers. All of that is official and will be easily seen. However, we'd also like to move a small DART team into the city. They'll shadow the conference and be in constant communication with the other security forces in the area. It's more of a recon team. Do you agree with this action?

We are hear to inquire about some assistance. Our forces are tied up with other operations and we can only spare one team for an operation deep within Reformist held territory. The minimal requirement for the facility we plan to infiltrate is two teams. The facility is of great importance to the war effort and to our eventual peace effort and we require it to hold onto our territories. If you are interested, respond soon.

Your request for special combatant assistance has been forwarded to me. This frigate is currently sitting south of the nation in the littoral. We've been directed to deploy the DART's you need to assist. Our six man team is ready to transport in via MH-75 Stealth Helicopter. They'd like to have some information, though. Are you attempting to take over the facility to use it for future operations, simply recon it, or outright deny it to the enemy?

A stealth destroyer is nearby and is willing to transport your men to our staging area in a Reformist-controlled port. We have paid our local Mafia a significant amount of money to transport our men and women to our objective.

Our objective is to verify intelligence that the facility is being used to illegally copy and modify foreign anti-shipping and anti-air missiles. We plan to collect the plans, destroy the equipment, destroy a weapon cache and to recon what is believed to be a more dangerous weapon cache.

We want to leave as small a footprint as possible. We want to ensure that we have stolen the plans, kept them from continuing, destroy experimental weapons and to find out what other secrets the Reformists are keeping under wraps.

RMV Aurora dropped in the cold Leafanistani waters. The frigate was being moved around alot - but being such a well designed vessel was doing just fine operating in this climate.

"So we're going to recon some stuff, blow some stuff up, and then get out..." Major Alisha Sherman finished up her briefing of the six man team. "We're going in with full Macabee gear, too. We can't afford linking McKagan to the raid. That means Hali-42's and BDU-64's. Silence everything too."

Sherman walked out of the briefing room.

She had grown acustomed to being deployed on a naval vessel. The IMNS wass operating more and more special forces - so it wasn't much of a surprise when the transfer level arrived at her Triesa home.

Back in her stateroom she got dressed. Now looking like a character out of a Halo game she was ready to move towards the armory.

The small arms locker the DART's stored their gear in was just behind the helicopter hangar. She noticed that five Hali-42 racks were empty - a sign that the other team members had beaten her up there. Arming herself with another .221 calibre Hali-42, several of many types of grenades, and an ammunition kit, it was time to deploy.

Opening a door from what was like a lounge/briefing area with an erie picture of Treisa in the morning fog hanging above a couch, she soon walked into the hangar. Sure enough, the other five DART's were sitting around with their gear already secured in the MH-75 helicopter.

Someone pressed a button that controlled the rear hatch. As it opened the cold, wet, arctic air rushed in. The aircrew quickly rushed to lock the blades in place, and soon enough the helicopter was ready to launch.

And that it did. The weapons were all locked inside the unit. This allowed for a stealthier trip AND kept the cold air out.

Soon the helicopter was in view of the stealth destroyer. Not taking the time to sit down on the landing pad it simply allowed the DART's to repel. They were now in the hands of the Leafanistani's.

McKagan ground forces had done nothing in this engagement because of the tiberium threat. It was obvious that the reformists had tiberium based weapons - and McKagan didn't have a way to retaliate to that. It had came to several Generals in the MIDD, however, that tiberium was a wild element. The reformists didn't "own" it or "guard" it.

The decision had been made to gather a small amount of tiberium cells for cloning. The plan was to arm several SSGN's with tiberium missiles and park them off the coast of the nation to provide a counter strike should the reformists fire tiberium based weaponry at McKagan assets again.

Of of this played in the mind of a Major Rodgers as he sat outside a COV-12 Armored Fighting Vehicle with a laptop and a joystick. The video he was watching was linked to a small robotic vehicle his team was trying to use to gather a sample.

"There's a bit of it isolated over here, all we've got to do --- DAMMIT, that's the forth one this week," he said as the tiberium covered and thus eliminated another of the robots.

Obviously frustrated he turned around. As he did that he noticed his sniper, a Private newly assigned to the team, walking towards him. He'd been assigned to guard the eastern flank and watch over a field IMAF was using to airdrop things to the DART's.

"We just got this. It's supposed to be a new tool... we'll see how well it survived the fall."

Rodgers opened the packaging and found something rather odd. Another robot - only this one seemed to have rotors. His robot could now fly.

A bit later the DART's had vacuum sealed and packed a small sample of tiberium. They mounted the COV-12 and began to move south, towards the other McKagan forces. Once reaching a friendly port they'd ship the sample off to the ASI Labs in Libertad and wait to hear back about how their week of frustrating work had paid off for tactical deterrant.

It had been a long time since McKagan had waged a true air war. Sure - there were raids on certain targets from time to time. Sometimes there were massive bomb raids against localized targets. Hardly ever did all of the McKagan military come together to fight a single enemy. Even in the recent war with Kravania, where McKagan airpower had the chance to being god-like again, the IMAF stayed grounded while the IMNS pounded targets in Kravania with guided missile spam attacks.

Missile spam was a valuable asset (along with the industry to support it,) and it was cheaper to do (politically) than using highly trained and skilled pilots.

That was different. Kravania was a hostile nation - attacking it would mean its full AA systems would be attacking IMAF.

Leafanistan is a divided nation currently at a cease fire. The reformists wouldn't attack IMAF or IMAF would use their new found gap in the reformist AA networm to destroy any hope they had of waging an effective war. Not only that, but the IMA had finally gotten the funding it needed and was now and effectively ORGANIZED ground fighting force. If the war started again the McKagan tanks were going to push straight into the reformist forces and push them into the sea. It was a fact clear to anyone - McKagan was better organized to fight a ground war now. The only thing threatening to the McKagan forces was the tiberium. IMAF had an answer to this.

With nearly 75% of the McKagan satellite force over Leafanistan finding the giant openings to the subterrainian worms wasn't hard.

Suddenly - it started.

Starting on the peninsula Port Stevens and Zedison are located on a massive air offensive was launched. Flying in from Libertad, Saharistan, and offshore aircraft carriers, nearly 300 KLA-37 Camaro's and 100 KLA-60 Strategic Bombers equipped with Air to Ground Missiles and 250lb. bombs flew over the nation. Attacking from the peninsula and then spreading inland they looked to almost completely destroy the tiberium threat on the McKagan safe operations zone.

Just inland from Soyuzolva the McKagan artillery base that had been established fired off to the west, down onto the other (mostly unoccupied) peninsula in an attempt to eliminate worms in that direction. With a 75KM range it would save valuable airpower for the inland operations.

There was also another issue. The McKagan intelligence vessel off the coast of the nation had located activity at the abandoned naval artillery base that McKagan had attacked earlier. It had been under survailance since the loyalists had "forbid" McKagan from operating in that area.

It wasn't clear just WHO was operating the trucks up there. Only that it was someone and that the loyalists DEFINATELY knew something was up there that was interesting.

The MCID was interested in it too - because it was obviously something worth being interested in (and the MCID hasn't done anything since Torontia.)

Several hours after the truck convoy was located a KLA-45 UCAV was ordered from an aircraft carrier off the coast. It wasn't ordered to engage. Simply to recon the area and find out who was interested in it. The general line of thinking was that if the Loyalists were operating a 'clean' or 'good' operation they would have let McKagan know about it. This gave the impression that someone other than the loyalists was operating there - which meant that it was possibly an enemy of McKagan.

This was something that had to be investigated.

The ships did nothing as the UCAV flew over, a few soldiers even waved before an officier put them in line to help with carrying the bars. They gleamed brightly in the sunlight as the UCAV flew over. A few soldiers pointed their HN-58s SA missiles at it, but did nothing more than aim. The trucks continued back and forth to hovercrafts which unloaded to an offshore amphibious assualt ship which used helicopter convoys to bring them to convoy ships.

The UCAV banked after cruising over the base once. It slowed and decended a bit. With its advanced camera and sensor units it scanned over the artillery base. Mostly interested in the bars it focused on the human chain of people where they were in the open.

"No idea what they might doing sir. Apparently that artillery base was storing something the reformists had and the loyalists either wanted or needed. Perhaps its some sort of important mineral or metal?" The ensign who was partially reflecting the blue screen of the computer he was looking over said to the Commanding Officer of one of the Edge Class Aircraft Carriers.

"Ok... so the AMC told us not to go into the artillery base. What about setting an AVT-12 down outside of it and having a good faith meeting with the commander of that operation..." the Commander, a balding man who was just in his upper 30's, said while sipping on his tea. "We could contact whoever is in command of that amphib and see what he has to say..."

Everyone on the bridge hated how Commander Jacobson acted as if he was asking some higher authority for permission on everything he said. They, and he, knew damn well he was going to do just about whatever he wanted to regardless of their protests. And as long as it didn't go against the direct orders of the Arizona Mountain Complex - no one outside the aircraft carrier would care.

This made nearly the fifth civil war McKagan forces had been involved in and if there was one thing the MIDD had learned it was that a civil war was never a short war. This alone told the planners that the peace conference would probably fail. That's why they'd designated an IMA Officer with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant (Lt. Kint) the envoy to Concord for the peace mission.

McKagan had bigger things in the making, though. The amphibious assault unit launched from McKagan was finally nearing Leafanistan's northern coastline.

In order to better facilitate better operations the IMAF effort at destroying the tiberium was shifting its bombruns. Actually shifting isn't even the word for it. They were launching an entirely new offensive using KLA-60 Strategic Stealth Bombers north of Concord. Using GF11 Archer Tactical Recon UAV's and KLA-45 UCAV's to scout and locate possible worms (as well as high pockets of tiberium) they had charted the area pretty well.

In the middle of a wave of bomb runs against the tiberium in the southern peninsula 15 of the bombers broke out of formation and continued into the North. After flying over the eastern corner of Concord they began opening up. Five of the bombers, loaded out completely with ATGM's, fired off at possible worm locations and high density locations of tiberium. After that ended the other ten bombers took in more tactical data from GF11's and MCID satellites. Locating what would be either dead of alive tiberium vines, they passed over and carpet bombed select locations.

With massive bomb missions going off all over Leafanistan, McKagan was preparing new, post Peace Conference missions. To facilitate the preparations for this mission an Edge Class Aircraft Carrier loaded out with 150 KHaU-13 Attack Helicopters is ordered to sail to the amphibious assault group.

Futhermore, 150 Be-23 Archimede's Lever Heavy Transport Aircraft are flown into the Libertad airfields and put on hot standby in various holding facilities.

Another phase of the operation was to move an amphibious task group off the coast of the southern peninsula - between it and the "keys" so that they would effectively control that gulf. Supported by a Leonda Class Cruiser squadron as well as Sultan Class SSN's, it appeared to be - and was, a powerful force.

With the nearest city being Er, which was likely reformist held, it would force the reformists to pick their words wisely at the conference.

I am Colonel Arthur Bartar and I am the commanding officer for this operation. We are currently conducting a information retrevial mission to find out Reformist plans for the area. We are also doing a currency reclaiming mission. Turns out the Reformist scum hid billions of New Rubles in Gold and Silver bullion here. We are carrying it back to be spent on weapons and social welfare programs.

However, due to the sensitive nature of the documents we are recovered and two court-martials because of currency theft we would appreciate it if you left us to our own devices. We've had enough people try to think they could get away with hundreds, perhaps thousands of New Rubles in gold or silver. Again I apologize, it is not because we do not trust McKagan in their urge to help, but we do not trust the average grunt who is inclined to 'liberate' a few bars for themselves.

When down looking sensors picked up massive explosions from the bombs being made larger by an unknown force the pilots reacted as anyone would expect.

"Would someone please tell me what the FUCK we just blew up, over?," a pilot in the rear of the formation sent on an open channel.

On the east side of the formation a Lieutenant Mission Controller charmed in. "We hit a weapons cache or something. Or some nuclear shit. The Leafanistani fuckers are hiding weapons in everything!"

Finally a rookie pilot came online. "We've got a flight of loyalist fighters coming up on our six right now. Recommend getting the hell out of here."

Eventually, amist all the confusion, the Squadron Commander picked up the radio.

"McKagan Bomber Flight 029 responding to Loyalist interceptors. What the fuck did we hit, over? We're flying to Libertad - direct any complaints to McKagan Imperial Defense Department and feel free to follow us, over."

"Leafanistani Interceptor Flight Bravo-Delta-Zulu is calling that you have hit a large formation of Tiberium Vinifera which is highly reactive and explodes when exposed to heat impulse. We lost nearly 2 platoons the other day when a guy shot at what he thought was a Fiend in a patch. We could barely find dogtags. Repeat, blue-tinted fields of Tiberium Vinifera are extremely explosive. Targetting them will result in a massive explosion of the crystals due to their highly volitile content. Please stop attack and land immediately!"

The interceptors accerated to Mach 2.3 and moved closer spreading out around the bomber group, a few pilots waving at the bomber crews.

The Commander of the IMAF Bomber Wing, Colonel Yemit, was paranoid by nature. At the point his wing hit a form of tiberium IMAF hadn't encountered he'd realized that he might have an international incident on his hands. The Leafanistani flight had made two demands to land. McKagan Strategic Doctrine didn't allow bombers to land in non-emergency situations. Yemit intended to follow that doctrine.

On the computer in front of him he called up the encrypted communications center.

To: Inter-Squadron Communication

Vectoring assistance. Slow to Mach 1.

To: IMAF Tactical Operations Center, Libertad

International incident over Leafanistan. Condition 3.

To: RMV Nirvana

Bomber Wing 029 needs escort. Please assist ASAP.

[END ALL]

Closing the laptop-like system to allow for more room he once again picked up the radio input phone and sent an open message.

"Cannot land in Leafanistan. We're continuing to Libertad. Welcome to follow. We're not landing in Leafanistan. Over."

It was a simple message. The bomb wing of 15 KLA-60's wasn't handing itself over to what appeared to be angry loyalists.

While the drama was playing out in the sky above the Northwest Coast of Leafanistan the cavalry was moving into position. A flight of 12 KLA-37 Camaro Multi-Role Fighters had just taken off from Nirvana.

That ship was amongst McKagan's most needed and secret tactical assets in the Leafanistan theatre. The Light Dreadnaught had stealthed into an operating position north of the nation not long ago to support the amphibious operation in and around Port Xi-an.

Those 12 KLA-37's were of the most advanced and stealthy fighter class in the McKagan military. The bomber's were slowing down enough to allow them to catch up quickly. The new vectoring would allow the Camaro's to approach from the rear, probably unnoticed.

If the was going to be an international incident - IMAF would make it a positive one for McKagan.

"Cannot land in Leafanistan. We're continuing to Libertad. Welcome to follow. We're not landing in Leafanistan. Over."

A few encrypted radio transmissions from the airplanes and the ground later the Interceptors responded again after slowing to match the bombers altitude.

"Understood, we cannot follow, you have been ordered not to fire upon any more Tiberium deposits. We'll follow you over the next Tiberium field to ensure this. BDZ out." The Interceptors dropped slightly in atitude and a few fell behind to presumably to get a better shot at any more missiles coming out.

A flight of Su-82s took off from Concord and began to shadow them. The Bodkin would run out of fuel as soon as they were over the water and would have to back off, the Su-82 would be a failsafe if any returned before more Bodkins could respond. They couldn't have another bombfield incident.

Upon evaluation of the incident in which our bombers set off a chain reaction that destroyed Leafanistani establishments - we which to apologize for the incident. We did not know that there were mining operations in the area. However, our air campaign MUST continue to keep the tiberium kept back. What we're suggesting is the close of any carpet bombing, and a pickup in KLA-45 UCAV Missions to put smaller, more precise weapons on target. This is not entirely our fault, however, and we'd like to request the positions of all Leafanistani mining operations.

Without going into to great of detail, I'd like to know if the loyalists have any details on the satellite recon and possibly even weapons capability of the reformist forces? We now have a prototype fleet of an experimental spacebound UCAV that gets up close and personal with enemy satellites to knock them out of commission. If we were able to do that against the reformists it would make them fight a guerilla war without knowing where McKagan is.

Could you please check on that for me? Did the loyalists gain control of all the satellites during the split, or did the reformists gain a few? If the reformists have them - could you please provide their orbital positions or other means of location to me?

Most of our communications is handled by the space elevator we built jointly though there are satellites out there. The problem is that with all the junk we can't tell the commercial ones from Reformist traffic. There have been a few launches we find suspicious but we are going to check that out with the operation we are conducting soon.

Would that be the joint DART-Leafanistani mission that's scheduled for the near future? I wish you luck with that. Until then - happy hunting.

The Kraven Gunship was quickly downed by, the Mcgakan Vessels, its wrekage dropping to the ground in a spiral of fire and twisted metal..

The Capitol Police were now once again on the move, moving under the cover of darkness, further inland, Killing whoever they came across, and whoever got in their way, leaving behind grissely trophies, Bodies hanging from Lamposts, Trees, bridges, anything that could support a body...

The Capitol Police were on the move, their target... The Peace Conference...

OOC: You are coming from the east, from within the large Tiberium fields, you'll run into a few mining teams.

[Eastern Leafanistani Coastline]

The Kraven gunship had met a quick death at the hands of the McKagan Corvette. Attacking a naval vessel in that way was never a good idea, especially when it was aware you were coming.

The night after the gunship had crashed the nearest aircraft carrier had recieved an email from a random MCID server. It contained details on a mission they were to launch over the coastline of the nation.

Basically - a piece of Kraven technology was never something easily passed up. Especially when it was just laying somewhere... alone... and seemingly dead.

So, in order to capitalize on this chance, the carrier launched an AVT-12 VTOL Transport Unit. It carried a total of eight DART's. It could have carried more - but the space was needed for something else.

Flanked in secret by two stealthy KHaU-13 Vala Attack Helicopter's who would gun down any Capitol Police who made a presense - it had a simple mission.

To land and recover the downed helicopter.
