The Allied States of Florintine
History
The area the Allied States of Florintine is located in was originally populated by nomads of Middle Eastern descent. The nomads were simple people, with few skirmishes between them and little technology. In about 1100 A.D., the nomads were visited by a group of British monks and scholars, and they shared there knowledge of the world, religion, and technology with them. The nomads learned about the fighting techniques of other civilizations, the great buildings and art of Italy, and of course the English language. Soon after the foreigners had met the nomads, they were killed by a rival clan from the north. The nomads vowed to punish the savages that had killed their friends, but not before they tried to become the greatest civilization the world had seen.
1200 A.D.
The nomads had indeed went on their way too making themselves great. The Florins, as they called themselves, had built a great empire on their continent of Irathria. They built their great cities in a signature style, borrowing the columns of the Greeks, the symmetry of the Romans, and the domed buildings of their ancestors. The Florins were also skilled at the art of war. They had defeated every other clan in the peninsula, under their leader General Damtree. When he died fighting the savages they had vowed to kill years before at the split of the Lian and Oran rivers, they build a great city in his name.
1912 A.D.
The Florins succeeded in becoming a great civilization, but this was the future. Plagued by a flu epidemic, the Florins tried to contact the people that had helped them years before. Instead, they reached the United States. Florin ambassadors found themselves at Yale University, during the middle of a football game. The Florins made their way towards the field, and watched the amazing sport from the kickoff at the second half until the goal line stand made by Yale at the end. They were amazed. After asking college students about the game, the news spread throughout the campus about the newcomers. They soon found themselves in front of the University President. They told their story, and he was just as amazed about their story as they were about football. The president asked them to stay at the University for a few years, and learn about his country, technology, and of course football.
1918 A.D.
When the ambassadors returned home, they told amazing things. The knowledge they brought back with them put Florintine out of the dark ages, and into the 20th century. Florintine made massive advances in just a few years, from building huge skyscrapers to designing the most beautiful cars. The Florins kept in contact with the United States, and had even learned their most valuable secrets, such as nuclear reactors and the Hydrogen bomb.
1969 A.D.
After the Cold War and Vietnam, Florin had less and less contact with the states. A particularly edgy leader named Corningstone from a particularly dominant party thought this was a prelude to war, and ordered Florintine into isolation.
2005 A.D.
The 2005 elections brought many changes to Florin. A young president, Jimmy Kastleton, had ordered an end to isolation and thrust Florintine into the international scene. Florintine had massive celebrations, and began to join the 21st century.
The Land

Florintine rests on a peninsula on the continent of Irathria. It has rolling hills, coastal plains, a vast swamp land, and mountains to the north. Its many rivers provided transportation in an ancient time, and still do to some extent today. Florintine is about 2 million square miles, as shown in this map. Each square is approximatly 100,000 square miles.

Florintine consists of seven slightly independent states. Each state is permitted to make its own laws, but not infringe on any federal laws. It may not leave the Alliance of Florintine at any time, except through a lengthy federal court process and the recommendation committee which consists of 3 representatives from every state. States are required to have a state militia consisting of at least .1 percent of that states population. States may not wage war on any other state at any time, but in the case of rebellion the federal entity that is Florintine may attack that state.

Cities of Florintine
Omanli
By far the most mountainous state in the alliance, Omanli is known as the "Shiny State", for its abundance of precious metals and stones, metal ores, and large abundance of uranium. Some ancient ruins, in a different style than those of the nomads have been discovered high in the mountains. Omanli has 3 football teams in the Florintine Football League, the Cranston Tigers and the Yellow River Yetis.
Emerson
Emerson produces the most fish in the region, with huge farms of fish spread throughout the state. After the most prized fish in the area, Striped Bass, was at the brink of extinction in the 1980's, the federal government banned commercial fishing and encouraged companies to employ fish farming techniques. This proved to be an amazing move, and Emerson is said to produce the best tasting genetically enhanced fish in the entire continent. Emerson has three teams, The Point's Great Whites, Crush's Blues and the Flayton Raiders
Tiber
Tiber is known for its politics. The Great University of Tibernian (Honorary Ivy League, voted best party school in the nation) produces many great political minds, as well as a killer football team. Riots in 2000 were put down forcefully, as well as several in the 80's. Tiber is also the manufacturing and trade center of Florintine. Located between the north and south, Tiber produces everything from computers to guns to nuclear reactors to amazing cars. Its football teams include Forestine's Wolves, the Trutane Semis, New Florence's Fallout, and the Damtree 11.
Cruzan
Cruzan is known for its alcohol and its science centers. Cruzan makes the best beer, whiskey, rum, tequila, vodka, and gin in the entire country. They also make ethanol for cars. The nation of Florintine converted to ethanol instead of gas in the 70's, and Cruzan makes enough for the entire continent three times. Cruzan has two teams, Charpe City Chargers and the Ruby Bay Pirates.
Sorentia
Sorentia produces the wheat, corn, hops, barley, potatoes, tomatoes, and sugar for the nation. Its vast fertile plains are filled with crops. There are several castles and unoccupied towers. It produces most of the crops for ethanol and alcohol for Cruzan.
Its teams include the Borstin Bears and the Chillzone Cool.
Rutlege
Rutlege produces mostly apples and other fruits for the nation. Rutlege has huge orchards. It is also home to Mount Fernasti, a semi-active volcano. This volcano is the reason the breadbasket of Florintine. Another interesting oddity is the desert near the border of Sorentia. Basically a bowl surrounded by tall mountains, it recieves almost no rainfall, and is filled with sand dunes. It is popular with quaders and hosts the annual Fugitive Cup, a team manhunt game. Its teams are the Morisson Magma and Laytan Beasts
Cammerecci
Cammerecci is the forested area of Florintine. Its huge forests have yet to be successfully charted, whether because of thick growth within or the local superstition of witches, ghosts, and vampires. The Cammerechi forest is said to have grown after a particularly nasty witch in the 1200's punished the sons of Damtree for ignoring the old gods and converting to Christianity. There are many castles, walls, and old manors on the edge of the forest, and things like the Wall of Luthgen, which travles from the outskirts and continues in for an unknown distance, suggest that their are other ruins withen the forest as well. The cities on the outskirts and the peninsula are popular tourist spots, and the locals regularly give tours of the ancient Black Forest like areas to the east and the mangrove swamps, cedar swamps, and bayous of the south. Cammerecci has two teams, the Sorntrom Savages and the Deathshead Devils.

The Florins play almost everything, including hockey, dodge ball, four square, baseball, soccer, a few games of their own including huge games of capture the flag, paintball, and manhunt, and of course the national sport football. The intense professional league holds many games throughout the long season, including the almost legendary Fight for Damtree with the Damtree 11 and the Flayton Raiders, and the brutal Wilderness Cup between the two Cammerecci teams.
Music
Music plays a big part in Florintine. Rock greats like The Ringleaders and Two Rocks Out started hear, as well as legendary punk rock band Cape May.
Food
The Florins are amazing chefs, and with good reason. With the huge diversity of food in Florintine, how could they not? Food ranges from the lobsters and fish from the farms in Emerson, to the surprisingly tasty swamp gator meat to the pig marinade in apples from Rutlege.
Politics
Florintine has been rocked by political changes and isolation. The Florins because of this have kept a very close eye on the government, and if something goes wrong, the Peoples Militia is bound to come to the rescue.
Climate
There is a not a lot of variation in climate in Florintine. The north is a bit colder, by about 10-15 degrees, but not much usually. The area is mostly temperate, with tempetures ranging from the teens in the short winter to about 80 in the summer.
Trade
Florintine has many things to trade that it has in excess. Iron, Copper, Silicon, Uranium, Gold, Diamonds, Platinum, Titanium, Silver, and Tin are some minerals in excess in Florintine. Florintine makes some of the best alcoholic drinks in the world, as well as excess ethanol. Florintines fish are considered amazing tasteing, as well as the produce from the south. Exotic woods, although not a huge profit area now, may come into play as the Cammerecci forest is explored. Lastly, manufactured products in Florintine are of highest quality, as the basic thought in Florintine peoples minds are that only the best products should be made. This is especially true with the cars that are produced
Military
Florintine has a small federal military for defense, however with the movement into the international scene the military will most likely grow. Also, the people as well as the states have militias, and prove to be a very good at defending their homeland.
